Chapter 9: For Once and For All
Tails started linking the wires up the button in the middle of the gear they were standing atop of, whilst Oswald prepared his remote to launch all of them… well, remotely, should anything occur. It was taking some time, but time they had, thanks to their friends.
Sonic started flying around the monster, rapidly landing a few punches to his chest. It had the shield still, but that wasn't of any use against him. Within a few rapid seconds, he managed to break through the front of it and also landed a few punches at its core.
The behemoth yelled in pain and sent Sonic flying back, but Shadow and Mickey were on him quickly. Together, they crept behind, and attacked the back part of the shield with a minimal amount of force. Before it could do anything more, the trio hit, from ahead and behind, into its chest.
With a piercing roar, the monster sank for a few seconds, before straightening up again and letting out a barrage of thinner. Mickey, with his brush, spun it back at him, and the monster swiped its claws at the ammunition, sending it back. Back and forth they went until eventually, the Time Blotter missed, and absorbed the impact of its own power, groaning.
He noticed Tails and Oswald working on the weapons below him, and with the power of the Time Eater, shot out a purple vortex at them.
"Tails, look out!" cried Oswald, jumping to the side. Tails looked up, and ran to the corner, missing the impact of the Time Blotter's attack.
"Hey, ugly! Your fight's up here, so why dont'cha leave my friends alone?" shouted Sonic, feeling rage bubble inside of him. He went for a kick at his jaw, but missed, and only barely managed to catch himself. He winced in pain for a second, before shaking it off, and asking, "Shadow, can you and Mickey distract him?"
"Already one step ahead of you." he shouted back, as he flew up to its eye. "So you're the one who brought back Black Doom. Well, just like him, you'll meet the same fate he deserved." It appeared that the monster could understand his words, as it growled, narrowing its eyes.
Sonic flew down to the tired pair working on their ammunition. Sonic looked at Tails seriously, and quietly asked, "Tails, Oswald, you ready to launch now?"
"A bit early, don't ya think?" replied the rabbit, leaning on one of the fireworks.
"We might as well use it now. I think all of us have had enough of this fight. And if we're gonna finish this up… can you start the fireworks?"
Tails sighed. "You have a plan, I'm assuming?"
Sonic grinned. "I think I'll wing it. But don't worry: I know I'm gonna do this, even if I don't know what it is I'll do."
The fox didn't know whether to laugh or shout, eventually giving a sad smile in return. "Ok."
The brightly burning hedgehog flew back up to the monster and swerved left and right. "Hey, why don't you follow me!"
Mickey cried. "I hope you know what you're doing, Sonic!" as he too followed Sonic, guiding the monster to turn around. Shadow too followed the two of them.
"You'd better have a plan." he muttered, before landing a hard punch onto one of it's cheeks. The creature growled, and tried to swat Shadow away, failing miserably. Sonic chuckled at that sight, and gave it a sharp kick on its horn. Irritated, the monster tried to grab Sonic, but he flew out of the way at the very last second.
"Too slow!" he taunted, enraging the monster further.
Mickey didn't feel very enthusiastic about attacking the monster. After all, he was the person who usually kept the peace and always gave second chances. That was what the Spark had said as well, right? To give second chances. But honestly, every time he looked at the creation he'd made mixed with the monster it had teamed up with, it seemed to have no good left in it. The chance for that was long ago in the past, when the Blot was twisted by abandonment. Now, it had only two goals: to devour, and to destroy.
The hedgehogs, after finally getting the Time Blotter to turn around, nodded. With its attention focused towards hitting the pair of them, he would never expect an attack from behind. And with the three of them, their powers combined would be enough to end this timeless battle.
Mickey flew behind the monster, and raised his hand. Tails and Oswald lifter their feet over the massive button in the center of the gear, glowing purple. They waited for a few minutes, before Sonic loudly said, "Don't you think you're forgetting something?"
That was the signal. Mickey lowered his hand as two feet landed hard on the knob, igniting all the weapons they had carefully loaded. Without any hesitation, they shot off, flying high up into the sky, scattering all sorts of colours in the sky. Trails of blue, green, turquoise, indigo, red, maroon, orange, yellow, gold, lime and so many more lit up the sky, piercing the smoke the Time Blotter had generated.
As every mini rocket collided with the monster, Sonic and Mickey cheered and whooped. It rose and sank, absorbing every rocket, swelling and shrinking.
A firework slammed against his face, as Sonic shouted, "That was for ruining my home!"
Another one hit its mouth, as Mickey cried, "That was for ruining my home!"
Once more, a mini rocket hit its chest, with Sonic calling out, "That was for messing with time and space!"
Yet again, the weapon hit its chest and its arms, and Mickey cheered, "That was for destroying my brother's life!"
Sonic called out to everyone, "Time to finish what we started!" The final round of ammunition launched, and together with Shadow, everyone, even Tails and Oswald, flew towards the Time Blotter with their fists outstretched, yelling at the top of their lungs.
And Shadow said, "This is for Maria."
BOOM!
The hypermagnets buried in its sides from long ago exploded. Combined with the impact of five fists, three of those with the power of seven mystical gems, it was, without a doubt, the end of the Time Blotter. The last face that could be seen from it was one with widened eyes and a down turned mouth. A face etched with terror.
Just like that, everything was over.
A/N: But that certainly is NOT the end yet. Or maybe it is. The last chapters will publish on Thursday, so until then, I bid you farewell! I'll have a bit more to say then.
