"And that's the report…"
"I see," Ingvild said.
Issei sat in the room, eyes fixated on the holographic screen in front of them. On the screen was the video feed of a woman, whose resemblance to the violet haired devil in front of him was a near mirror image. Her violet-red eyes met his for a brief moment and Issei felt as if she was staring through his soul. Despite the relaxed and somewhat playful look on her face, the aura she gave off, even as a holographic video feed, was extremely intense. He had to remind himself that this woman, despite her lighthearted tone, was a Division Head and he had seen how strong Mitsuki's parents were first hand.
"Sorry, Lani was supposed to feed you all this information but Lani went to Greece with her daughter," the woman said.
"It's okay, Mom. Thanks for letting us know," Ingvild said.
"By the way, has your father come to check on you? I swear that man loves being in his lab more than he loves being at home," the woman said.
The woman that Ingvild affectionately referred to as "Mom" was named Tsufaame Tereaku Leviathan. She was the oldest and only child of Leviathan, one of the Seven Prime Demons, as Issei learned, and a former member of the Old Satan Faction.
"Er… I do see Dad a couple of times every now and then but the whole thing with Beelzebub has him busy so I haven't seen Dad in a few weeks," Ingvild said.
"I see. I'll come to Japan in a day or two to check on you. Just make sure to be careful. The Nords and the Slavs are a very peculiar set of Gods, more so their Chiefs. Odin is fine but Perun is… how do I say this…? Very close-minded?" Tsufaame said, giving her daughter a worried look.
"Mitsuki is coming back in a few days so we'll be fine, Mom. Besides, Lord Azazel and Lady Asmodeus will be here along with Lady Gabriel. I think we'll be fine," Ingvild said.
"Ehh? Those three? If it's them, I'd rather you be the one to handle everything, Villy," Tsufaame replied, giving a sigh of exasperation.
"Mom… don't call me that in front of my friends," she said, her cheeks turning red in embarrassment.
"I need to get back to work. All the Chapters are working on analyzing the information so far regarding Hoia Baciu and Serpent's Seed. Just be careful, okay? I'm sure Taki will give you all more information than what I'm allowed to give regarding the incidents in Hong Kong, New York, and Seoul," Tsufaame said.
"I see. Thanks, Mom," Ingvild said.
"Lavender Helix out," she said.
The connection cut there and the holographic screen vanished. Ingvild pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed tiredly. The incidents were piling on and on and Issei could understand the stress of not getting enough sleep, analyzing data, and going to school at the same time.
To him, it was like having a ton of homework and having class the day after.
"You okay?" Irina asked.
"I'm fine. Usually, I'd have Mitsuki to help me with this but with her still coming back from Greece, I have to manage the RAT by myself," she said.
"Sorry, we couldn't be much help," Issei said.
"No need to apologize. It's just the whole incident at Hoia Baciu and this new plan that Beelzebub dropped is giving us all more work. Well, Mitsuki is getting back tonight so after that I can split the work with her," Ingvild said. "That being said…"
Ingvild pulled up another screen and enlarged it. Several satellite images of what used to be South East Asia and Eastern India. Large portions of it were underwater and the zoomed-in images of what remained of Hong Kong revealed a massive crater with a small portion of the city on the outer rim still standing. The remaining skyscrapers were twisted and melted by some sort of extreme heat.
"What kind of…?" Irina gasped in horror.
"That… is what we're trying to find out. Approximately a few hours before all of this, our sensors and the local branch in that city picked up the descent of a God and then, nothing. We lost all contact with that area," she said.
"Do you think it's Serpent's Seed?" Issei asked.
"We… didn't pick up traces of demonic power so we don't really know if it was the God that did this or one of the Serpent's Seed members," Ingvild said. "Whatever it is, we don't have to worry about it right now. I'll store the data here and go through it later with Mii. For now, we need you two to go get ready for them to arrive."
"Do I really have to go? I hate all the boring meeting stuff. I sat through the meeting with the Three Factions and I dozed off like… five times until Sensei asked me about something," Issei replied.
"Well, think of it this way. At the meeting, you can ask a Great Evil a question about your Boundary," Ingvild replied.
"A Great Evil?" Irina asked.
"Mmm. One of the Great Evils will be attending the meeting. Veles, the Slavic God of the Underworld. He's a Great Evil like Kali except much less violent," she said.
"You know, I could've picked her up by myself."
Issei was standing in the lobby of the Gate Terminal. Hundreds of Agents from different branches passed by them. To Issei, it was a sea of people that were different from what he was used to living in Japan. So many different faces and ethnicities compared to the homogenous sea that he saw on the daily. A few of them, though, he could tell were not here on official business but for vacation. It seemed that Blacklight's Gate Terminal was a convenient way for people to travel from country to country without having to go through the hassle of airport and airport security.
"Wow, there's so many people here. It's just like that time we visited America," Issei commented.
"Eh… you see it once you see it all the time." Irina shrugged at Issei's amazement.
"Oi, I've never properly been outside of Japan. This is kind of like a first for me… like seeing all of these fine speci-"
Irina slammed her fist on top of Issei's head before his perverted comment could exit his mouth.
"Ow… but you know, I could have picked her up myself. I'm sure Rias and the others would like it if they had more help setting up her house for the welcome-back dinner," Issei said.
"They have more than enough help. Besides, Xenovia needs to learn how to cook proper food because everything she makes is a disaster," Irina said with a huff.
"R- Right, I remember that one time Xenovia asked Mom if she could help her cook," Issei mumbled.
"And how did that go?" Ingvild asked.
"You… don't want to know," Issei said, waving his hand.
It was a disaster to put it lightly. The entire kitchen looked as if it had gone through a war. Pockmarks littered the wall. Scorch marks traveled as high as the ceiling and there was debris of food in various stages of cooking embedded in the wall and scattered all over the floor. His poor mother hid behind a table that had been propped up as Xenovia tried to stir the broth. And all she had tried to make was simple store-bought ramen.
"I never thought someone could ever fail at making store-bought ramen. Mii-chan must have had a hard time in there considering she was hiding behind the table," Mastema said.
[Hmph. You'd be surprised. One of my previous hosts, Elsha, was so bad at cooking that they considered her food to be a weapon of mass destruction. It didn't help that her lover apparently had no sense of taste so all of her food tasted amazing to him.] Ddraig commented.
"Do you see Mii?" Ingvild asked, looking around.
"Do you know which Gate she's coming out of?" Irina asked.
"Gate… B-20?"
"B-20…" Issei looked around and saw the Gate in question. As if on cue, the Gate activated and a swirling green vortex manifested inside the ring. A flood of people came rushing out in an instant, spreading out inside of the lobby.
"Do you see them?" Irina asked.
"Hmmm…" Issei narrowed his eyes and looked through the crowd. His eyes brightened when he saw three familiar figures in the distance."Uncle! Auntie! Mii-chan!" Issei raised both of his arms into the air and waved them.
"Aniki!" Mitsuki waved her arms in the air before pushing through the ocean of people. After a few minutes, Mitsuki broke through the crowd and slugged Issei in the gut.
"Ow… what the fu-" He doubled over and looked up at Mitsuki's smirking face.
"I'm back," she said with a smile.
"That's one hell of a greeting, you bitch," Issei said, grinning painfully.
"I'd punch you more if I didn't think that'd send you down to the depths of Gehenna earlier, you ass," Mitsuki fired back.
"Heh, welcome home, Mii-chan," Issei said, straightening himself.
"Mmm. I'm back, Aniki." Mitsuki rushed forward and hugged Issei tightly.
"No hugs for me?"
Mitsuki pulled away and saw Irina and Ingvild smiling at her.
"Ingvi! Rin-chan!"
Mitsuki walked past Issei and hugged both of them respectively.
"Mitsuki. Don't forget. Dad wants to meet you and your team inside his office. Don't be late."
The four turned around to see Elaina standing behind them. Katsuki stood next to her, yawning into his hand.
"Eh? Meeting?" Issei asked.
"Just the thing about China. Nothing more," Mitsuki said.
"I remember Mom mentioning that the Chapter Head would give us more information about that. Though, I didn't think he'd be doing it this soon," Ingvild said. "Should we be worried?"
"I don't think so. I think we should be fine. Sorry, guys. I know I just got back and we already have a meeting with the old man," she said, smiling apologetically at them.
"Don't waste time now. Otherwise, the old man will have you in his office for a while. You know how he is," Katsuki said.
"R- Right! I'll see you later, Mom. Dad," Mitsuki said.
"We'll be in our offices if you need anything. And remember, Mii-chan, after school. You have to come by after school tomorrow," Elaina said.
And with that, she and Katsuki left the four behind.
"Come on. Let's go see Grandpa so we can go home. I'm super tired after that trip," Mitsuki said, walking past them.
"How was it? Your Grandma told us that you had to fight someone," Issei asked.
Mitsuki winced as the phantom pains flared up all over her body. Merely remembering the fight was enough to cause a physiological response for her. She glanced over her shoulder and gave them a look of faux despair. "Twas hell. Like what the actual hell? I had to fight a bunch of demigods just to get a new sword… and I don't have one! I have to deal with a GMT for at least a fucking month!"
"Lord Hephaestus took Yorihime?" Irina asked.
"Yeah… I miss her already…," Mitsuki puffed her cheeks, wishing to feel the cool metallic touch of her beloved blade. "He better not do anything weird to her…"
"Even after we graduated, you still talk about Yorihime like it's alive or something," Ingvild commented.
"At least I can keep it down. People have seen Aniki talking to his left hand in class," Mitsuki said.
"O- Oi! That was one time and it was the day before the sports festival," Issei said. "Besides, at least I know Ddraig is here. Yorihime isn't alive, ya know."
"She might as well be! Part of her contains a fragment of my soul you know like with all SMWs." Mitsuki crossed her arms.
Irina and Ingvild stood back, watching the two bickering back and forth on whether or not talking to their weapons was normal. The sight of such a heated and enlightening debate brought a small smile to Irina's face. It had been a long time since she had seen the two act like that and the recent matter involving Issei's soul had placed all of them on edge. It was to the point that small moments like these provided a much-needed respite against the horrific situations they had just encountered.
"Oh yeah, what about that time you told me that one time that Murayama and Matsuda are dating?" Issei said.
"I never said that! Katase said that because Murayama was avoiding her that one time back in Chiba! I never said they were dating!" Mitsuki said.
Oh… so the topic of their conversation switched to middle school, Irina thought. Her smile fell slightly. So many memories and moments she had missed out on all to become an Exorcist to protect two people who probably don't need her protection. Her fist clenched unconsciously. She was falling behind.
"Irina."
Irina blinked when she saw Ingvild looking at her. "You okay?"
Ingvild's words were enough to cause Issei and Mitsuki's conversation to grind to a halt. The two immediately turned around and rushed over to her.
"Rin!" the two said simultaneously.
"Eh?" Irina took a step back in slight shock.
"Are you okay?" Issei asked.
"Are you feeling sick?" Mitsuki asked.
"Is it that time of month for you-"
Irina lunged forward and grabbed Issei by the head, holding it in an iron-clad grip. A vein popped in her head as she gave Issei a menacing smile. "Please don't talk about my period in a place where literally a hundred people can hear you." Her holy aura leaked slightly, causing Ingvild and Mitsuki to back away.
"Y- Yes, Ma'am!" Issei sputtered.
Irina's hand let go of Issei, causing him to land unceremoniously on his rear.
"Anyway, if you two lovebirds are finished doing whatever kinky play it is you're doing. We're here at Grandpa's office," Mitsuki said.
Eh? Old Man Taki's? Did we really talk that much? Issei wondered as they entered the room.
"Taki, this can't go on."
An unfamiliar voice caused the four to stop at the threshold of the office's threshold. Taki sat in his chair and as per his usual routine, there were several open bottles of alcohol lined neatly on his desk.
In front of his desk was the flickering holographic image of a rather tall woman. She was taller than Issei even. Her long, spiky black hair was partially tied in a bun with a golden Chinese barrette. The woman had piercing red eyes and pale skin. She was dressed in a white dress shirt with a red tie clasped by a golden clip underneath a neat, single-breasted lapel suit with two golden cufflinks. The tall woman had a red coat draped around her shoulders that was decorated with golden embroideries of Eastern Dragons. She had black pants and black shoes.
"Psst, who's that?" Issei whispered.
"That's… Lady Hong Jing. She's the leader of the Chinese Chapter of Blacklight. She's the descendant of Diaochan from the Three Kingdoms Era and the current owner of the married swords, Ganjiang and Moye," Mitsuki said.
[She's powerful. To have reached that level of ki at such a young age…] Ddraig said.
Yeah, I can feel it even though I don't have the ability to sense energies, Issei replied.
"Hmmm? And what do you want me to do? We have no idea who's doing this and our only lead happens to be a God. And we all know how great your relationship is with Taoist Deities, Hong Jing," Taki replied with a burp.
Hong Jing pinched the bridge of her nose. "That's why I'm saying that we need to pool our resources together. We have overlapping jurisdictions over East Asia."
"You want me to handle the Taoist Gods? I got enough dealing with the fact that the Shinto Gods are on edge after hearing what happened down in South East Asia and the fact that the Norse and Slavic Gods are dropping by for a visit," Taki said.
"The Hindu Gods aren't faring much better. The only reason the Great Evil of Destruction hasn't torn the entire country apart looking for the perpetrator is because Lady Parvati is more concerned about rumors of Indra trying to start a war with Shiva of all people," Hong Jing said. "That being said… there was one survivor at the Seoul store incident… unlike in Hong Kong unfortunately."
"A survivor?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, a survivor. She's from one of our cadet academies and was in the branch location for an internship. Despite not being close to graduating yet, the principal told us that she was an extremely promising cadet and was there for practical experience." She swiped her hand across the air, projecting a holographic screen in front of Taki.
"Mmm? Shin Yeonha? Rank #1? Is this what the kids over there refer to as a Ranker these days?" he said.
"You've read too many webtoons. She's a second year but she ranked first in all of her subjects so yeah, she's what they call a Ranker. Quite popular and the looker too. The kids over in the Seoul Branch call her the Queen of Seoul." Hong Jing had a tone of annoyance in her voice.
"And you want to send her here because she was there when the incident occurred. Alright, I'll see what I can do. Mii's getting back from her little vacay over in Greece so I might just shove her into Lunar Raven Squad. It'll be a nice getaway," Taki said.
"You… You mean the very same granddaughter that's been watching us this whole time?" Hong Jing turned around. Her stare pinned all four of them to their spots and they suddenly found it very difficult to breathe.
"Eh~? Even when she's using an astral body, she can radiate this much pressure with just her ki alone?"Mastema commented.
[To do that… she must have amassed quite the amount of ki. I wonder how far she is along with cultivating her ki.] Ddraig said.
Can you guys stop with the play-by-play and help us get out of this? Issei asked.
"Ah, Mii. Just wait there. Gramps is still in a meeting," Taki said.
Mitsuki felt a vein throb in her forehead. "You shitty old man! At least tell us that you had a meeting beforehand."
"It doesn't matter. We'll pick this up later with the others. My Chapter wasn't the only one hit by this string of disasters," Hong Jing said, waving off both grandfather and granddaughter. She turned to face the four and gave them an appraising gaze. "So you four are the ones that had a hand in killing the Lord of Hunger… I'll be keeping an eye on all of you, especially you, Ascendant. But anyway, Taki, I'll send Yeonha over to you when she's medically cleared."
"Can you at least begin the transfer process so Elaina can finish it before she gets here?" he asked.
Hong Jing nodded. Her translucent form vanished shortly after, causing the massive pressure within the room to vanish. Issei let out a breath he had no idea he had been holding. He turned to Taki, who was pouring himself another cup of sake.
"So you're dumping a new member on me?" Mitsuki asked.
"Yes, but that's not what I called you here for. First off, how was Greece? Did Leonidas get on your ass for being my granddaughter?" Taki asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"No, he felt bad that I am your granddaughter," she said dryly.
"Bahaha! I see working with Hephaestus has only made your words harsher. You wound your dear old Grandfather," Taki said.
"So… Chapter Head? What did you call us for?" Ingvild asked.
"Ah yes, that. Well, I'm sure you've all been briefed but our branch in Hong Kong has been completely obliterated alongside the entire city and much of the surrounding region all the way up to the eastern coast of India," Taki said.
"Do you guys have any ideas on who's doing this?" Mitsuki asked.
"No. I'd like to think it's Serpent's Seed due to how many places were hit. Like New York. Cairo, and-"
"Seoul," Issei said.
"Yes, Seoul. Though, all the areas have almost nothing to do with one another but it seems that in every disaster, there were certain groups that were targeted beforehand," Taki said, swiping his hand. Several screens appeared before them.
"In New York, a Titan was targeted alongside a group of rogue demigods from the Greco-Romans. In Seoul, several martial arts sects and clans were targeted and a few were affiliated with us. The Shin clan is one of the clans and your new member is from the Shin clan. In the end, all of those sects were eradicated alongside the Seoul Branch. The cadet academy there has been shut down for the time being due to worry for the safety of the students," Taki said.
He leaned back in his chair, slouching slightly. Taki let out a heavy sigh before composing himself. "And because of those little disasters, I want you four to be careful. The attacks for now seem random so until we know more about who's doing this, I want all of you to be on high alert. With the Norse and Slavic Gods coming here to Japan for the discussion of an alliance, there's a chance that they might be targeted by whatever's doing all of these things. For all we know, it could be either Khaos Brigade or Serpent's Seed," Taki said.
"Does… Does the Russian Chapter Head have an idea of who's doing this?" Irina asked.
"Anastasia? No. Since the perps took care not to target Russia and Anastasia's omniscient gaze, we're running on a ghost of a hypothesis and our only leads are the survivor and the divine energy in Hong Kong," he answered.
"I see," she said.
"So for the time being, while the Slavs, Norse, and the Three Factions meet, Sae will be there to act as the arbiter and as your babysitter-"
He was interrupted by the sudden indignant outcry of the four teenagers in front of him.
"Aunt Sae! Gramps, are you crazy!" Issei said.
"Are you trying to keep us locked inside the house, shitty old fence?" Mitsuki demanded.
"Not that I don't like Big Sis Sae but… I'd like it if we didn't have such a short leash," Irina said.
"We're… We're going to be monitored 24/7, aren't we?" Ingvild lamented.
Taki raised his hand, causing all of them to go silent. Sae, what the hell did you do to these kids? Taki wondered as he saw their nervous but annoyed looks.
"Mitsuki, this is only a safety measure. I know you four can handle yourselves but you are a new squad, not to mention that both you and Ingvild are fresh out of cadet school. Irina and Issei are new too and you're getting a new agent that's still in her diapers in terms of experience. Besides, who do you prefer to be your chaperone, Elaina or Sae?" Taki said.
Mitsuki paled at the thought of her mother being their chaperone.
Taki smirked when he saw his granddaughter's pale face. "That's what I thought. Sae will be there by the time the meeting starts. She's handling something for me in China regarding the Hong Kong disaster so you four have time to enjoy your freedom."
His words were met with four groans of despair.
"Anyway, I've kept you four here for too long. Go get some rest. You four have a long couple of days ahead of you," Taki said. "And Mii-chan?"
"Yeah?" Mitsuki said.
Taki pressed a button on his holographic keyboard. Mitsuki blinked when she heard a beep coming from her pocket. She pulled out her AS and activated it. A holographic file projected itself before her face.
"Is this…?" she asked.
"Yeah, this is that kid's file. She's not graduated yet. She's a cadet but since Hong Jing is sending her here, I'm fast-tracking her to becoming an Agent under your command," he said.
"Shin Yeon-Ha… Rank#1 from St. Catherine's Academy? Is this what they call a Ranker?" Mitsuki asked.
"You've been reading too many webtoons. Anyway, once the girl wakes up, she's going to be transferred here and placed under your command. Got it?" Taki asked.
"Jeez, stocking me with a greenhorn who hasn't even graduated from the Academy. Fine," Mitsuki said.
As the four prepared to leave, Issei was stopped by Taki.
"Issei, I heard that the Great Evil of Reverie will be at the meeting. Make sure to ask for tips on how to use your Boundary. At least until you can get a proper teacher to help you develop it. Your Boundary will be one of our greatest assets against both Serpent's Seed and Khaos Brigade," Taki said.
"I'll keep that in mind," Issei replied.
"Good lad. Now off you go," Taki said.
"It's good to have you back, Mii-chan," Issei said.
"I'm glad to be back. I miss my bed. I miss my computer. I have so many things to catch up on and…" Mitsuki trailed off. I still have to save you, Aniki. Her jaw clenched slightly as she thought of what was going to happen in a couple of months. But for now, Mitsuki banished the thought from her head and reached forward to open the door to her house.
However, as she neared the handle, her eyes turned red. Several energy signatures inside my house. All of them are masked so I can't make out who they are exactly.
"Eh? Mii?" Ingvild said, looking at her with a hint of confusion.
"Everyone, battle formation," Mitsuki said. Electricity crackled and condensed around her hand.
"W- Wait, Mii-chan! Calm down, it's just-"
Without hesitating, Mitsuki kicked her door down and rushed inside. But, instead of the enemy that she thought had invaded her home, she was met with a sudden flash of light, followed by several sounds of popping and a spray of confetti.
"Surprise!"
"Eh?" Mitsuki froze, having lost her bearings. Before her was a sign that hung on her wall that said "Welcome home, Mitsuki!" in big bold letters.
The electricity in her hand died down.
"Um…" were the only words she could get out of her mouth. Everyone stood there with party favors in their hands, staring at her with smiles on their faces and a small amount of confusion.
"Geez, Mii-chan. Did you really have to kick the door down?" Issei asked, walking in.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"Well, Ise told us you were coming home so we suggested having a dinner to welcome you back," Rias said, getting up from her spot. "Though, I didn't think you'd kick your door down and rush in here, guns blazing," she said.
"Uhhh…" Mitsuki blinked owlishly as she shot a glance into her kitchen. True to Rias's words, there were various foods lined up on her dining table. There was even a cake with the same exact words on the banner.
"Oii! Mii-chan? You okay?" Irina asked.
"Yeah, I… Thanks, guys," she said. She flashed them a grateful smile.
"Come on. I tried a new curry recipe that I think you'd like," Rias said, leading her into the kitchen.
"Eh? Wait a minute! My bags-"
"Don't worry. Ise can handle them, right?" Rias glanced over her shoulder and flashed her Pawn a smile.
Issei nodded, feeling suddenly motivated. He grabbed Mitsuki's bags and rushed upstairs to place them in her room.
The dinner had gone off without a hitch, aside from the small hiccup of Mitsuki kicking her door in. Everyone sat in various places of Mitsuki's dining room-kitchen combo, conversing and eating food.
"So, Mii-chan, how was Greece?" Issei asked.
Mitsuki almost choked on her food.
"Woah, you okay?" Yuuto asked.
"Um… Greece was okay. I got hunted down by some demigods as training and Lady Artemis beat me into the ground-"
"Artemis? The man-hater beat a woman into the ground?" Azazel asked.
"Er… I sort of lost control and almost killed one of her hunters so she had to subdue me," she said, scratching her cheek.
"I see. You still can't control the Qliphoth Mode," Azazel said.
"No, I can't," Mitsuki replied. "I can't enter it willfully either. It's usually when I lose control of my emotions just like at Hoia Baciu or in Greece."
"Well, kid, if it makes you feel better, Tomato Tits over here can't do it either," Azazel said.
"What did you just call me?" Rias growled.
"Anyway, kid, it's good to have you back. I was actually thinking of sending you a case to be a neutral third-party arbiter for this meeting," Azazel said.
"It's the Norse and Slavic Gods, right?" Mitsuki asked.
"And that one guy! The Great Evil of Reverie, Veles!" Issei said.
Azazel chuckled. "It looks like… Blacklight is well-informed as always. Yeah, Odin from the Norse Pantheon is coming for the initial discussion. From the Slavs, we got Perun, the God of the Sky, Veles, the God of the Underworld, and Mokosh, the Goddess of the Earth."
"And let me tell you, Perun is one stuck-up son of a bitch. By the way, Greece did wonders to your ass, Dantalion Girl."
"Wha-" Mitsuki turned around and let out an uncharacteristic shriek before she roundhouse-kicked an old man into her wall. Her eyes turned red and lightning condensed around her body. "You-"
"Oi! Wait!" Azazel grabbed her arm before she could drive it through the old man's only remaining eye.
"Old Man Odin!" Issei said with shock.
Odin coughed as he pulled himself out of the wall. He had a bruise forming on the right side of his face and his robes were covered in dust and drywall. "Damn, girlie. You got one hell of a kick. If I were any of these little devil kids here, my head would have popped like a balloon."
"You damn pervert! Fucking pedophile! If you weren't a chief god, I'd have gouged your only remaining eye out!" Mitsuki struggled against Azazel's grip. Azazel let go of Mitsuki and she took a deep breath. The electricity in her hand faded and she crossed her arms. "How the hell did you get in my house? I warded this place to the point where not even Rias can get in."
"Oh ho? Who do you think I am? I am Odin, Chief God of the North and God of Magic. This measly warding isn't enough to keep me out, girlie," Odin said with much pride while stroking his long beard.
"Lord Odin… are the accommodations not enough for you?" Rias asked, unnerved by his presence.
Odin smirked. "No, no. They're enough. The service is fantastic. The girls are cute. Food is amazing. Did you know that all the women in that hotel wear black lace?"
Azazel and Issei perked up at the mention. "Do they now?" the Governor General asked.
"Really?" Issei added on.
"Yes-"
"Ahem. Can you three talk about this later? You, Wotan. What the hell are you doing in my house?" Mitsuki asked, cutting Issei, Azazel, and Odin's conversation short.
"Oho? I haven't heard that name since Germany was run by a bunch of tribes. Ahem, right. Since I'm here to make a treaty with the Shintos and by extension, you lot, I want a tour of this country," Odin said.
"A tour? With all due respect, you could've just asked one of the maids to do that, Lord Odin," Rias said.
"Yes, yes, but that would be too boring. Therefore," Odin lifted his hand and pointed his finger at Issei. "I want the boy with Lucifer's power to give me a tour of Japan."
"Eh?" Issei blinked and stared at Odin with a shocked expression.
"So how about it, boy?" Odin asked.
"EHHHH!?" was their collective response.
Alright, so this is the beginning of what would be the Ragnarok Arc in canon, except with a few changes. As you noticed, I added Slavic Deities into the mix so we got a diverse cast of Gods...! Also, we're going to get another new character pretty soon but not during this arc. She'll debut in the next arc, The Goddess of Life and Death Arc, where we get to learn more about Boundaries. And... Tsufaame is alive. I'm sure you guys who read the Light Novel know that Tsufaame is dead... Ajuka killed her during the Devil Civil War yada yada. Buuut... I completely rewrote that so Tsufaame is Ingvild's Mom and Ajuka is her Dad. I know, I know. You're probably thinking "Crim, wtf is this? How does she have a Sacred Gear if she's pure blood?" Well, I got some things for that.
But for now, let's get a few brief highlights on what's going to happen in the next couple of arc of this volume. Note that these are all tentative and can be subject to change in the future but so far:
Ragnarok Arc (This Arc)
Goddess of Life and Death Arc (Next Arc)
Divine Key Arc (Arc after that)
Midnight Arc (Final Arc of the Volume)
Just to reveal a little more of my plans:
-Mitsuki is getting an upgrade for her sword.
-Irina is getting a power-up.
