~Chapter Fifty~
~James POV~
Classes at UA were interesting. More so now that Sero and Momo knew who he really was. Momo didn't treat him any differently. If anything the knowledge that he was a thief just seemed to increase her curiosity about being a thief and why he was one. There wasn't really a better answer beyond 'because it's fun'. He wasn't sure what else to say to be frank. He was mainly a thief because his sisters and brother were. He just followed along.
"Do you steal from normal citizens or just from the rich?" Momo asked at lunch. James looked around the courtyard before he sighed. There was no one around, but then he hadn't thought anyone was around when he'd told her initially.
"Do you really want to talk about this here?" James hissed. Momo glanced around before she lowered her voice, leaning closer to him and whispering.
"Yes." James gave Momo a deadpanned look before he grumbled. He couldn't very well deny her answers.
"I mainly steal from museums and jewelry stores you know? I don't go door to door and steal from old people. Too much of a hassle." James muttered taking a drink of his water bottle. Momo considered his response before she asked,
"That's comforting…why do you steal from those specifically?"
"Eh, it's what my sisters plan." James shrugged.
"Your sister is the mastermind?" Momo frowned, looking over to where Kana was sitting by Bakugou and arguing over what sounded like combat moves.
"No not Kana." James muttered. "Shina is the older sister. She makes the plans and we carry them out." Momo thought it over before asking,
"I assume that Shina is the one who makes the most money from what you all have been stealing?" James thought about his words before he spoke slowly.
"No, we split it evenly. I mean yeah she has more to spend because she puts our halves into either banking accounts or investments to help make us more. I know where everything is and how it moves, but she takes care of the finer details."
"You must have some sort of alter ego to maintain your secrecy while attending school…do you have a code name or something?" Momo smiled, leaning closer to him. James ear flicked as he felt a small blush cross his face before he looked away. "May I ask what would that code name be?"
"Sorry but I'm not telling you Momo." Momo seemed disappointed but she dropped it. James was glad for that.
"Alright, I understand…I take it your siblings have code names as well? Did Shina come up with those code names?" James snorted.
"She gave ideas but we chose our names." Momo nodded. She gave him a small smile, a bit of a pleading expression crossed her face.
"Can you tell me?"
"No." James looked away from her. He felt his ears twitch as she let out a disappointing sigh.
"Alright and I understand…I'm sorry but I do have one more question if I may be permitted?" James turned back to her and nodded his head. Momo, searched his face as she asked, "…Do you ever feel any remorse for what you do or what you steal?"
"No." James response was quick and firm. Momo blinked in surprise.
"So if I may say then…you have no trouble stealing from people at a museum or jewelry store? No trouble stealing from people who are wealthy in general? Does that mean you don't really feel any empathy for the people that you steal from?" Her tone turned…uneasy and a bit sad as she spoke. James grumbled a bit under his breath, looking away. She was really pulling at his heartstrings by talking so sadly like that.
"Why would I feel bad about stealing from a corporation that charges over $500 for a simple silver chain?"
"Fair argument…one more question if that is still okay?" James looked around the courtyard. Lunch was almost over but he supposed he could answer one more question for her. He looked at Momo.
"Go ahead. But it's your last question." Momo nodded, understanding.
"Okay, so, you've never been caught. But have you ever been close?" She reiterated the phrasing after a small frown appeared on her face. "What I mean is, have you ever had a close call?" James thought about it for a long minute. In his entire six years there had been many times where things went wrong. It was why they had a motto: 'Don't fall down, don't look back, if the plan goes wrong throw away the plan'. But looking at Momo's face, he couldn't exactly go into that long list. She'd probably think he was insane, which, he wasn't, but his sisters were.
"Mmm... there was a time in Spain." James finally answered, speaking slowly as if he was thinking. "The Spaniards shot cannons at us but we got out okay." Momo's face turned incredulous as she absorbed what James was telling her.
"I see…may I ask how you managed to escape a scenario such as that?" James couldn't help but chuckle.
"I'm a cat, I blended in with the night. Plus Kana and Yuto have transportation quirks." He reminded her. Momo nodded.
"Was that also the only time that you've ever come close to being caught or have there been other occasions?"
"Only time we've ever almost been caught." Well, he supposed it was one of the times they'd almost been caught. It wasn't technically a lie.
"I see…may I ask something personal?" Momo asked suddenly. The way she hesitated made James feel a pit start in his stomach. He didn't know why. Maybe instinct? Momo continued with her question. "…Do you not feel scared whenever you commit the act of stealing?"
"...kind of?" James spoke softly. He'd never admit it to his siblings, but he did get the flashes of anxiety under his aloof and careless façade. Every theft they did was full of anxiety for him. He didn't like leaving things to chance like his sisters did. "There's always the paranoia that we'll get caught but I trust in my sister to not plan anything that will get us caught." That was the truest thing he'd said so far. "She's secretly paranoid about that."
"I see." Momo murmured softly. The bell rang indicating lunch was over. James stood up but Momo asked another question. "So, despite committing the act of stealing, you are not fully confident in not getting caught every single time?"
"No." James held out his hand to her. She took it and he smiled as he helped her stand. She was the same height as he was, so it was no difficulty for him to meet her sharp gaze. "But nothing's certain in life."
"True." Momo murmured as they headed to class. James caught a flash of pink and he slowed down. He saw Mina and waved to her. She smiled at him and waved back. James walked over to Mina, leaving Momo's side.
"Hey Mina, how's it going?" He gave Mina a soft smile as she started to talk. Being around Mina was nice, she was such a bubbly person and had a lot of energy. Considering he was more in tune with a grumpy cat most of the time, it was nice to be around in short bursts. Which is probably why he had chosen to be around Momo more. This thought had him thinking as he and Mina walked to class. He liked Mina, but he didn't think it was anything more. True he may have had a crush on her in the beginning, but he attributed that to how she was as a person. She certainly was unique that was for sure.
His eyes went to Momo as he passed her desk to sit behind her. She nodded at him before dutifully opening her schoolbooks. James saw Mina do that same thing, however he noticed that the feelings he had for Mina were more from a friend's perspective. He was glad she was here, but that was about it. He wasn't making plans on hanging out later or expecting anything of her beyond friendship. Instead of looking at her like a potential mate, he saw her as more of a friend now. He mulled it over before his eyes turned back to Momo. James had always had odd and very particular tastes for a teenager. His sisters liked to tease that he was really an old man in a young man's body. It wasn't hard, he knew what he liked and what he didn't, he didn't see a reason to continue pursuing it. What was hard about that?
He wasn't entirely sure when he'd started noticing Momo more. True she and Mina had always been on his radar as potential information leaks, but…that had changed at some point. He frowned slightly, looking at Momo's dark hair before he looked to the side, focusing on Aizawa as he talked. He was…in trouble. More than Shina was, and that was saying something.
As the day wore on he kept making mental ticks and notes of how often his eyes went to Momo and Mina. Also how often he stuck around Momo to help her with something or just to be around her. Being around Momo was calming. She had a way of doing something that made him want to…purr. He grimaced at that thought. He didn't purr alot, in fact he hated doing it which is why he avoided doing it in public or around anyone he wasn't comfortable with. The only person he frequently purred around was Kana and that was because he trusted her to not tease him or make fun of him, well, not that much. His sister was a short muppet of annoyance and fluff. Still, he couldn't help the urge to do so. However, he had just enough tact to not do so out in the open. Which was ironic considering he had no problem with telling Momo all about his family's dirty business out in the open. That thought led to him remembering that Sero knew about his family's history. He was going to have to tell the others.
"Hey J! Are you okay?" Kana asked, coming up to him as they entered the gym to begin their training sessions. James tuned back in, noticing somehow that he'd managed to make it through the day in the haze he was in.
"Uh, yeah?" He cleared his throat, still walking forward towards the changing rooms.
"Are you sure?" Kana asked in amusement. James felt a flash of irritation at his sister's continued questioning.
"Yes, I'm fine. Why?" He growled. Kana smirked, her pink eyes glowed with humor.
"Because you're going the wrong way. We just finished training." James froze. Had they really? He looked around, seeing the gym was indeed worn from use. He didn't remember anything about training.
"James?" Kana called out to him again. He shook his head, looking at her with confusion. He saw her frown slightly at him. "Maybe you should take it easy. Do you want me to take you to Recovery Girl?"
"What? No, I'm fine." James grumbled as he turned and headed for the exit. He looked down to see he was still wearing his uniform. It was mussed and looked like he'd haphazardly put it on. That wasn't like him at all. He straightened himself up, dusting off his clothes as he walked. He could feel Kana's eyes watching him with concern before he heard her light footsteps running up to him.
"J." She lowered her voice, changing to the language of their family as she steered him to the side. James glared at her impassively. She frowned deeper at him. "Something's wrong. What is it?"
"Nothing's wrong." James stated before he sighed, running a hand through his hair. He looked to the side briefly before his blue eyes cut to Kana's stern face. "Sero knows about us. I told Momo and that rat overheard."
"What?" Kana instantly whacked him. "What do you mean he knows?" She hissed making him growl louder in irritation. "Wait, what do you mean you told Momo? You mean she knows about…"
"Not all of it. Just, an overview." James muttered. "Just what we do..."
"James!" Kana's hands twitched like she wanted to strangle him. She contained herself a moment later. Despite always picking on Kana, James knew she wouldn't pull any punching against him if the situation required it. It wouldn't hurt, but she would get angrier if this kept going on.
"It's Momo." James reasoned. Kana deadpanned.
"Oh yes, you know what? This makes it so much easier. Just go blab to the Vice President of our class! The only person more responsible than you and Iida!"
"She won't tell anyone." James argued. "I told her a few days ago and she hasn't said anything to anyone. If anything she's more curious about how it all works." Kana frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean," James shrugged listlessly. "She just wants to know how we do it, why we haven't been caught, that sorta thing."
"And you've told her?"
"Not fully. I'm not that stupid." Kana's expression looked as if she was calling him that and more. "Look, Momo won't say anything okay? I trust her."
"And what about Sero? I hardly think he'd stay quiet. You two aren't exactly friends." Kana pointed out. James nodded.
"I already took care of it." He made a dismissive gesture. "Sero won't say anything. If he does he knows I'm going to find him and finish him off." He saw Kana about to argue and spoke quickly. "I won't. I mean maybe Kai or Kira would but I won't. And it's not like he's expecting me to be bluffing. I scared him pretty good when I realized he was listening in." Kana rubbed her head.
"Oh this…this mission is getting so much more twisted than we thought it would. You know I have to tell Shina right?" Kana sighed. James clicked his tongue at Kana."
"Like she's any better. You know she probably already told Hawks."
"How do you figure that?" Kana asked. James gave Kana a look.
"She likes him. When have you ever known Shina to stay away from someone she likes. Or do the right thing when it comes to that kinda thing? If she liked Hawks as much as we all know she does, she may have already told him everything about the League and the insane blackmail they have on us."
"…I hate that you make sense." Kana murmured. James smirked as he knew he was right about Shina's intentions with the bird hero. It was scary how well they knew each other sometimes. "Still, I have to tell her about this…security breach." James gave her a look.
"Don't call it that."
"That's what this is." Kana pointed out. "Okay this entire mess aside, you sure no one else knows?" James nodded.
"No one else knows."
"No one suspects?" She asked. James nodded.
"No one from my end." James watched as Kana started to calculate in her head.
"Okay, good…You should go get to your remedial classes. I'll let Shina know. Kira should be coming to my room later for movie night if you want to come?" Kana offered. James knew she was only asking to be polite. Chances were, she wanted a girls night.
"I'll pass. Yuto roped Yoshi and the League guys into game night. I managed to get Denki in on that. We'll be gaming tonight until probably midnight." It was a Friday; they might even be able to go into Saturday morning if they were lucky. Kana sighed, rolling her eyes.
"Alright, have fun. And don't tell anyone else about us. It's bad enough we have you and Shina telling everyone." James deadpanned as she left him.
"Be glad we managed to go as long as we have before we told anyone." He turned to head to his remedial classes. He wished that this remedial lesson class would finish up soon. He was starting to really hate being the toddler's plush toy. Any more of those brats and he was gonna take a swipe at them with his claws.
~Kira's POV~
Kira had been neglecting a certain mission of hers for quite a while now. The stalking of one Shoto Todoroki- no matter what Shina said it was still stalking in it's essence. In her defense she hadn't meant to neglect this mission. She'd been about to do this but then Shina had left for Arizona for those few days and then when she'd come back she'd been about to get to this and then she'd had to go track down the Nara clan members. Which, honestly, if one were to take into consideration. It was a valid excuse. Not that she needed excuses. What did they want? For her to do the Shadow Clone jutsu? She wasn't Naruto. But she digressed because now, now she was back on her initial mission. Stalking Shoto Todoroki.
"Are you sure you want me to stay here in your room while I do this? Won't you feel weird that I'm stalking Shoto and hiding out here in your room?" Kira asked Kana.
"No, you can hide out here. It's not like anyone comes in here anyway." Kana smiled, showing a bag of hot Cheetos. "Plus I could use the company." Kira had to raise an eyebrow at her sister's words.
"You actually want to help me stalk Shoto?" Kira asked dubiously.
"You can do that, and I can watch a movie." Kana stated simply. Kira narrowed her eyes slightly, seeing her sister/best friend's body language change for that split second. Kana was a terrible liar, at least in Kira's opinion. She could always see past Kana's fronts.
"Kana." Kira's tone was one that did not allow for any arguments.
"What? I just thought a movie night was needed, especially after what just happened." Kana stated in a slightly defensive tone. She took a firmer tone as she straightened her spine and put her hands on her hips while looking at Kira. "You need this and so do I."
"Right, but did you invite any of the others?" Kira asked in confusion. Kana sniffed, turning up her nose.
"I tried. But the boys wanted to do their own thing. You know them and their gaming. I think they managed to get Shigaraki and some of the UA kids in a team." Kira frowned at that. Did Kana just insinuate what she thought she'd just said.
"I'm sorry what?" Kana frowned at Kana who sighed and sat down beside her.
"James said Yuto and Yoshi managed to rope some of the League guys into a game that James had apparently invited Denki in on. My guess is Yoshi is using a voice changer on both sides to make them work together without realizing the other affiliations. I'm not sure if James got any other UA guys to participate." Kana informed her as she handed Kira a pillow. Kira thought about it, taking the pillow and adopting a thoughtful look on her face.
"That's…actually pretty smart." Kana nodded slowly. The same look on her face that their brothers could be so smart like this was shocking. "We must never tell them it's smart."
"Understood." Kira sighed and leaned back against Kana's bed. "So tell me, whereabouts would Shoto be on this Friday night?"
"I'm gonna guess either in his room or in the common room. They like to stick close together in the evenings for homework or general companionship." Kana stated as she sat down on the bed, turning on the desktop computer opposite them.
"Then why aren't you down there?" Kira asked, pulling open her tablet and easily hacking into the dormitories security system to access the cameras. She focused on the living room first, keeping an eye on the other UA students and finding Shoto sitting on a couch downstairs.
"Meh." Kana dismissed. Kira glanced up at her sister before she looked back at the tablet.
"What happened?" Kira asked, cataloguing Shoto's movements. She tried to zoom in but couldn't do so. The camera quality of this place wasn't that good.
"…"
Kira glanced at Kana wondering what was so bad that Kana didn't want to answer. The redness to Kana's face was unexpected. Kira blinked in surprise before reaching up and poking Kana's cheek.
"Are you blushing?" Kira asked in surprise.
"No!" Kana vehemently denied. Kana's hands slapped her cheeks, trying to cover them as she flopped onto her bed, not showing her face to Kira. Kira smirked widely. She'd never seen Kana this blushy.
"What happened?" Kira pressed, poking Kana's back. Kana twitched, curling up into a ball.
"It's…it's nothing!"
"I will dig into whatever this is and I will find out in the most embarrassing way if you'd prefer?" Kira offered, not looking away from Kana's back. She angled her body, so she had easier access to view Kana and the tablet without having to look between the two. "Don't make me have to dig Kana."
"No! It's…" Kana didn't move as she finally broke and whispered, "I fed Bakugou ice cream." Kira went still, her mind going blank as she tried to process what Kana had just said. Her face twisted into confusion, surprise and disbelief.
"I-I…" Kira paused, looking at the tablet unseeing before she started to let out muffled laughter. She brought her hand up to cover her mouth, but the laughter was too great to contain. Kana didn't move as Kira got a hold on her once again. "Sorry, um…" Kira took a deep breath. "So…he licked your spoon?" Kana groaned and Kira burst out laughing, unable to hold it in anymore.
"It's not like that." Kana groaned.
"Well tell me! I need details!" Kira pleaded.
"You're gonna make fun of me."
"Yes but if you tell me exactly what happened then I maybe would understand." Kira continued to beg. She looked at the tablet before she put it aside. This was far more important. Kana didn't move for a moment before she slowly turned around on the bed and looked at Kira. Her pink eyes were wide, and her face was almost as red as Shina's hair. Kana cuddled a pillow to her chest, as if trying to protect herself from what she was about to say to Kira. Kira just watched and waited impatiently.
"Bakugou and I went to the roof to eat ice cream. It was a distraction because I was upset you were 'hypothetically' dead." Kana spoke. Kira nodded before narrowing her eyes.
"Was this a date? You had an ice cream date? Without me? That's so cute!" Kana blushed more, hiding her face in the pillow, and refusing to meet Kira's eyes.
"Shut up!" Kira cackled. "It wasn't a date."
"You said you fed him your ice cream, how did that happen?" Kira asked. Kana shook her head.
"He dropped his spoon after saying something and I laughed at him and he wanted my spoon but I said no."
"So?" Kira smirked.
"So! So I let him use my spoon but he was being a pest so I pretended…"
"So you fed him your ice cream while on this date?" Kira grinned. Kana whined.
"It wasn't a date!"
"If Shina was giving these details about her and Hawks or Dabi- whichever one she chooses, would you say it was a date?" Kira asked. Kana hesitated before she spoke uncertainly.
"Not a date?" Kira snickered, rolling her eyes.
"Liar. You know we would both say it was a date."
"But this wasn't a date! It was just two … people getting ice cream."
"On the roof?" Kira asked dubiously, raising an eyebrow at Kana's logic. "How did you even get the ice cream on the rooftop?"
"…he put it there." Kana whispered. Kira squealed loudly, happy about this. "Don't mistake that! It was just two friends getting ice cream and…and…"
"So are you two dating?" Kira asked innocently. Kana whacked Kira with her pillow.
"We aren't dating!" Kana whined. "It was just a 'pick me up'. Nothing more. We haven't talked since then." Kana continued to whine and slap Kira with the pillow. "You wouldn't understand unless you were in my position."
"I'd like to be in your position sometimes." Kira admitted with a forlorn sigh. "It sounds nice. All I have is Kai and you guys." Kira rested her chin on her arm, unable to stop her thoughts from going a bit haywire. Romance sounded nice in theory but, she'd been down that road before with Agent 22, Dan as he'd commonly like to be called. However, that had ended with bloodshed, literally. Still, it was a nagging yearning in the back of her mind. Kana may not have wanted anything to do with romance, but Kira was all for it if it was based on mutual respect and adoration. She shook her head, now wasn't the time for that.
"I'll gladly trade." Kana sighed heavily. "How's the stalking of Shoto going?" Kana's words resulted in Kira looking back at the tablet and seeing that Shoto had left.
"Ah!" She started to tap away at the screens, hoping to see Shoto on the cameras however, her luck wasn't that good now. "No! I lost him." Kira groaned, putting the tablet to the side. "Your schools security system sucks." Kana snorted.
"You can put your own cameras in later tonight if you want, those are probably gonna be better since the'd work remotely from the Ugly House or another location. And Yoshi could easily keep them maintained with wifi. But hey, this works out, now you can watch movies with me." Kana smiled innocently. Kira got off the floor and sat down on the bed beside Kana.
"I guess. Shina's gonna be a bit angry with me. I've held off on this mission for the last week." Kira sighed, pulling out some gummy worms from Kana's bedside table.
"Shina won't be mad." Kana dismissed easily. "Plus it's not your fault you weren't really around this last week. You were doing a mission for us. That's gotta trump whatever else Shina requests right?"
"I suppose so." Kira sighed. "What are we going to watch?" Kira sat through two chick flicks, randomly tapping at her phone while watching the movies. Once the last movie wrapped up and the third movie came on, Kira saw Kana was sleeping. By this time it was 3am and Kira was feeling thirsty. Unfortunately, Kana didn't have anything to drink up here. Kira looked at the cameras before she left Kana's bedroom and slipped downstairs to the communal kitchen.
Her footsteps were light, no sound came from her as she made her way down the stairs in the stairwell to the first floor. The large bay windows gave plenty of light from the moon for her to see the communal living spaces and the kitchen easily. She didn't need light to see inside the cupboards as she grabbed a glass of water. She gladly drank the water she found, not in a hurry as she relaxed in this silent darkness, only breached by the dim moonlight.
Kira had just finished her water when she caught the sound of footsteps behind her.
"Kana?" Kira tensed. The guys voice was deep and slightly raspy with sleep but she could see who it was. She turned around and saw Shoto Todoroki, the boy she was assigned to spy on. Kira doubted she would be able to make this make sense. After all, no one but Denki knew that Kana was sneaking her into the dorms.
~Shoto's POV~
Shoto hadn't meant to get up this late, or this early, depending on your perspective. He'd been sleeping fitfully in his bed when he'd suddenly jerked and got up. His mouth felt like cotton, not a feeling he particularly liked. He usually kept a water bottle nearby his bed in case this happened, however, he didn't see his water bottle anywhere on the nightstand. As a result, he'd had to get out of bed. After fruitlessly searching for the water bottle, he'd had to concede defeat and resigned himself to just getting another water bottle from downstairs. There was always excess in the kitchen cabinets for the students in times like these, or for training.
The dorm was silent as everyone slept. He hadn't expected anyone to be up and moving, not even Bakugou would have been awake yet. Shoto walked blankly, not really thinking of what needed to be done as he slowly and silently walked downstairs. His silence wasn't intentional, he'd never really given it much thought to staying quiet while he made his way to the kitchen, however it just made sense to be quiet in case one of his classmates was a light sleeper. He suspected James may have been just because of the cat ears, but he didn't really know.
Pale blue light from the moon lit up the kitchen and living room, making it easy to make things out. He froze suddenly, his eyes falling onto the other person in the kitchen. After seeing the name scrawled on the back of the jacket, he shook his head. The small amount of surprise and fear that had hit him was thrown out as he'd realized he'd come down to see his fellow classmate in the kitchen.
"Kana?" He called out softly, wondering what she was doing down here. Maybe she needed some water as well? He saw the glass on the counter and figured that was the case. However, when she didn't turn right away, he grew suspicious before he started wondering if he should do something to assure the portal user that it was just him.
He never got the chance as Shoto's eyes widened once he realized that the girl in Kana's jacket was someone he didn't recognize. Her long dark hair was pin straight. Her face was pale in this light, and he couldn't see any defining skin tone to her before she turned. She had dark eyes, but he frowned as he realized they were two different tones.
"Who are you?" Shoto demanded to know as he stared at the girl. She froze before her eyes darted to the stairwell. That was all Shoto had as a warning before she suddenly darted past him. He didn't think as he formed ice on the floor. Her foot slipped but she didn't miss a beat as she threw herself forward on her knees, sliding on the ice towards the stairwell. Shoto had never met or even seen someone do such a thing before on his ice. He was stunned at her movement. His mind catalogued the fact that her movements were all lacking any hesitation, as if she'd done this before many time. This simple reaction of hers was why it took him far too long to kick himself into gear. She was already running up the stairs two at a time by the time he started running after her. Shoto's mind ran through every possibility of why this girl was running into their dorm. As far as he knew, this was Class 1A's dorm, no other students should have been in here, especially at this time of night. If she even was a student here. There was every aspect that this wasn't someone who went to school here. If she did, her running instead of explaining was highly suspect.
"Stop!" Shoto called as he saw her run up the stairs to the third floor. Shoto ran after her, trying to catch up to her. She was surprisingly fast as she ran at a controlled pace up the stairs. Shoto narrowed his eyes as he realized she was heading to the roof. "Stop running! There's nowhere to go!"
She didn't stop. The sounds of their footsteps pounding on the concrete steps slapped and reverberated along the stair walls as they continued to run up to the roof. Shoto was almost at her, he stomped his foot, intending to trap her in his ice before she made the door to the rood. However, she seemed to know what was coming as she turned and threw her hand out, the ice seemed to falter, unable to continue growing. Shoto's stern face twisted into a scowl when he realized she had a quirk and was using it on his ice. He wasn't sure what that quirk was as the rooftop door suddenly slammed into his face. He ran into it head on but it didn't budge. His ice did however move forward and formed too late, curling around his own leg instead of hers.
Shoto tried to get the door open, but it didn't budge, just like his ice. Shoto wondered how else to get onto the rood but before he had a chance to find an alternate, the door opened, and he was finally allowed through. The rooftop was empty. The girl was gone. Shoto ran to the edge, wondering if she'd been crazy or dumb enough to jump, but there was nothing all around the outside of the dorm. Shoto frowned as he realized the girl was gone.
Shoto melted his ice and headed back down the stairwell, looking to see if anything from the girl had dropped off. The stairs were empty. When he got back to the living room and turned on the lights, he was thorough but despite finding things that belonged to his classmates, he didn't find anything that looked as if it would belong to the girl. The glass was still in the sink when he looked. He found a bag and quickly saved the glass, just in case. He pulled out his phone to text Aizawa about this. Better safe than sorry.
In the back of his mind, Shoto felt an odd sensation that he'd met this girl before. He just couldn't remember from where though. He would need to analyze this memory more.
