Haley's Comet
Inko could tell something was wrong with her Izuku; it was just them that night as Himiko was on her work-study and would not be home till Saturday. When she asked about his day at school, he told her the doughnuts were a hit, and his conversation with Neito about the battle trials, she could focus the discussion when he talked about his morning with a girl named Setsuna. She heard the dip and drops in his voice as he told her about the morning and then the trip for ice cream after. She waited for him to finish as he pushed his mashed potatoes around the plate with his fork.
"Mom, have you…I mean…" Izuku started to say but stopped.
"Take your time, honey," Inko said. "How about you start at the beginning."
"I met this girl; I didn't meet her when I first saw her. It was only for an instant before she ran away, but…she took my breath away," Izuku said. "I didn't overthink it other than damn, she was beautiful. Then I saw her in class, and I got off on the wrong foot, but we managed to fix things. Stuff and stuff happened, and then the battle trial."
"She wasn't just a pretty face," Inko smiled.
"No, Mom, I wish she had been only that," Izuku dropped his fork. "We agree on things, have some similar philosophies, no red flags, and then I hear about this amazing handsome boy she likes and thinks the world of. No big deal, I think. She tells me about this girl who likes me, maybe one of her friends, and they seem nice. If I can get to know them, maybe it can work, but is it wrong that I want that girl to be her." Izuku paused. "I know she has feelings for this other guy, and how she talks about them…I know I don't have a shot, but still."
"Continue," Inko said gently.
"When we went for ice cream, I almost blew it but kept it in check. Tomorrow, after rescue training, I am supposed to turn into some baby dinosaurs for her; she will tell me the name of the boy she likes so I can help her and the girl who likes me. I promised I would go on a date to get to know this mystery girl better, but…" Izuku sighed.
"It is not her," Inko said.
"It is not her," Izuku replied.
"The question is, is this girl your Haley's Comet, the shooting star kind of love," Inko said. Izuku looked up, confused. "Your father was my Haley's Comet, this bright, shining heavenly body that raced across my life. I grabbed on for dear life; it was nothing like I had ever experienced before or since." Izuku saw the shift in his mother's eyes, the sadness. "When he was murdered, it broke me; the only thing that saved me was you. You being in my life is what gave me the will to keep going, and I swore that I would do everything I could to be a great mother for you and to bring his killers to justice. That is what I resolved to do. His killers were caught, and I work every day at being a good mother for you and your sister.."
"When someone like that comes into your life, you know it. And you grab hold of it as it streaks across the sky and do everything you can to hold on, hoping you never let go," Inko continued. "If you lose it, you spend your life looking for it again. If you never grab it, you wonder about it every time you look at the night sky."
"If you lose it, can you still be happy?" Izuku said.
"Yes, you can," Inko smiled, though he could still see and hear the pain. "If you don't, you can be happy. You see, son, it may be wrong or selfish, but I am still hoping that another Haley's Comet will pass through my life, but I have fun; I love you and your sister, my job, our life, no matter what, you have to keep moving forward. If this girl is your Haley's Comet, can you live with yourself watching it race across the sky and out of view?"
Izuku sat staring at the plate of food, "I don't think I can, even if I can't hold onto it. I want to know that I held something like that, even for a moment."
"Then you have your answer," Inko said as her phone rang, "Finish your food and take care of the dishes. I have to go to work. Hello Naomasa, send me the address. I am on my way." Inko kissed his forehead as she went to retrieve her gear. "Don't stay up too late. Tomorrow is a big day."
"I won't. I love you, Mom, and I think you are doing a great job," Izuku said, kissing her cheek. "Mom, do you ever regret it? Haley's comet?"
"Never," Inko smiled, and out the door she went.
Izuku finished his food and did the dishes before going to his room to do his homework, ensuring everything was locked and the alarm was armed. As he sat at the desk, he grabbed his phone.
Izuku: Hey, Set, I wanted to say I had a good time at the ice cream shop; we could do it again. Or we can go there on that double date after you tell me that secret tomorrow.
Set: It's a date.
Set: Oh, and Izuku, that place was amazing, but I would like it kept for ourselves. It is just a you and me thing, our special place.
Izuku: I would like that, I would like that a lot.
He had just set his phone down when it rang. Seeing the caller ID, he smiled, "Yo Cam, Cam, how are you doing? Me? Good, just thinking about comets and shooting stars…"
Morning Of
Momo was laughing at Set; as soon as the limo pulled up, all her friend could focus on was that Izuku was either waiting in their class or would be there soon.
"Today is the day," Set said, jumping up and down. "Oh, Momo, you and Itsuka will be my bridesmaids, so make sure you have some time around Christmas. By the end of today, he will mine; it will all be so magical!"
"Set, you should maybe temper your expectations," Momo said. Set turned tears in her eyes, "I am not saying that your dreams and visions of romance will not come true, but maybe he won't want to get married by winter; maybe he wants a bit more time."
Set seemed to ponder, "Oh, you are so funny, Momo," Set dismissed Momo's concerns. "But I promise that our first daughter will be named Momo after you in thanks for yesterday. Because of you, we had our first date, then he texted me last night, and after that, it will be our special place." Set dramatically leaned against the wall, the back of her hand resting on her forehead. "Oh, Momo, it was magical."
"From your description, it sounds adorable," Momo said, though she wondered about the relayed conversation. Maybe I should create a recording device that she wears so Itsuka and I can better understand what and how it was said. Momo thought, then she giggled, imagining Set walking around with a body camera that she switched on whenever she talked with Izuku. Itsuka and Momo, the two hard-boiled detectives with hearts of gold, must review the footage and document everything so they can decipher it. At least it would allow Momo to hang out with Itsuka more. Momo flushed a bit, but the slight smile wouldn't fade.
"But today is the day I am going to confess; he will hear my heart's true words," Set said, skipping down the hall. "Nothing can go wrong; I have on my lucky stockings, my ultra lucky matching T-Rex bra and underwear, my lucky bracelet, I went by the shrine last night, and the ultimate weapon," Set pulled her hair to the side, "The one of a kind guaranteed to bring you success, the ultra-rare one of a kind T-Rex earrings." Momo did not laugh at these declarations, but she must admit that the earrings looked very cute. She silently prayed that a meteor wasn't in her friend's future.
Momo did pause, though, "I thought you wore your lucky T-Rex underwear yesterday?"
"I did," Set declared, "but this is the different ultra-lucky matching set. I will show you when we change, and you will understand."
"How many pairs of lucky T-Rex underwear do you have?" Momo said curiously.
"18 they have a varying scale of luck though," Set said like it was the most normal statement in the world.
They entered the room, and based on Set's reaction, Momo knew that Izuku was in the classroom; unlike yesterday, Set had not frozen.
"Good Moring Izuku," Set called out.
"Good Morning Set," Momo heard Izuku say as she entered the room, "Good Morning, Momo."
"Good Morning to you," Momo replied, noticing cups and white bags sitting on their desks. "Izuku, did you bring us treats again?"
Izuku blushed, "Nothing like doughnuts today, just croissants, chocolate for you, Momo, and one chocolate and the other almond for you, Set."
"You are most kind," Momo bowed. "We will be sure to repay your generosity at a later date. If you two would be so kind as to go to the cafeteria and pick up the supplies, I will grab the medical and athletic uniforms, as Sensei requested. And we can relax and enjoy the treats you have provided."
"I like that idea," Set gave her a wink. "So Izuku care to lend me a hand?"
"Of course," Izuku said, smiling. "You two work so hard, and I am glad I got morning detention to lend a hand."
"Your assistance has been very much appreciated," Momo said, smiling as Set and Izuku left.
Set and Izuku
"So today is the day," Izuku said a bit nervously. "Have you decided what baby dinosaurs you will be marveled at?"
"I want you to start with a Stegosaurus, then Brontosaurus, and last a T-Rex," Set said, looking over her shoulder at him; this twinkle in her eye, her slightly downward gaze, the hidden smile, it nearly stopped his heart. "Then I will tell you the name of the girl that likes you. Are you excited?"
"Um, yeah," Izuku said. "A bit nervous about it for some reason, don't know why?" His voice dipped, 'and then I get to know the name of this boy who has you so twitterpated."
Set did not hear the last part, "I haven't forgotten my promise." Once I tell you it is you, I get to kiss you and worship you like a true Adonis, she thought. "By the end of today, you will know who I am in love with."
"Love?" Izuku said, a bit shocked, but seeing how Set was spouting and gushing over him made sense. He was terrific, beautiful, and a great guy, sweeping her off her feet, so it made sense. "He must be her Haley's comet," he muttered.
"What was that last part?" Set said as she spun to face him, her arms behind her back, slightly bent at the waist, smiling so broadly at him. "I can't wait to tell him," Set said. "I just know, or I hope and pray that he feels the same,"
"He would be a fool not to," Izuku said, staring into her eyes, his gaze drifting to her cheeks and lips. "I hope it works out."
"So, what was that last thing you said?" Set said as they entered the cafeteria.
"Just something my mom and I were discussing over dinner, but she got called in to work," Izuku said.
"Does it make you nervous when that happens?" Set asked.
"If it's a murder, then no," Izuku said. "Everybody is already dead, not like they are sitting there waiting to ambush the responding Detective."
"That is an odd way of thinking about it, but it makes much sense," Set said.
"It must be a big one; she didn't come home last night," Izuku said. As they entered the kitchen, he looked around. "What are we here to get?"
"We are getting one of the ice chests and loading up the lunches marked for our class; the other cooler is for drinks," Set handed him a list, "That is a list of what we are supposed to grab, along with extra snacks and water. Let's get the lunches first; I will check them off the list as you grab them, and then we can pack them up. Then do the same for drinks."
"As you command," Izuku said with a sweeping bow. His reward was Set's laughter, which was all he needed. She thought I command you to make me a woman on this counter. As he grabbed the bento boxes, he would call the names and stack them on the table while Set verified them and then checked them off the list. With every guy's name in their class, he wondered if this was the one. If this was the guy who had Set walking on clouds, he tried to see if you pick it out when would say the name and hand the bento over. He saw her smile when he handed her Tetsutetsu's, which made it all click into place.
Oh, that makes so much sense, Izuku thought. He always hung out with her; they probably knew each other before coming to U.A. Now that they made it, Set is going to make her move.
What was he supposed to say, "You are the girl that took my breath away; I noticed the scales during the assessment test; you may be my Haleys' Comet; I think you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Trap me under any building if we get to talk more. I am sure this girl is nice, but I don't care because it is not you!"
He couldn't do that; he just needed to keep his mouth shut; maybe this girl who liked him would be great, even if she wasn't Haley's Comet. He was on his way back out when he heard her, "Good Morning, Juzo."
"Good Morning, Set; where is Momo?" Izuku came out to see a pale-skinned young man with angular eyes, mid-length spiked beige hair, a flat nose, and small eyebrows. His most unusual feature is his teeth, which protrude outside his skin. He has no discernible lips, giving him a skull-like appearance. He was looking toward the fridge and seemed confused when Izuku stepped out.
Juzo is a moderately tall and somewhat muscular young man who is well-built due to intense training during childhood. He has short hair that doesn't pass his neck and wears bangs parted twice to avoid obscuring his vision.
With him was another boy who seemed to ignore Set but focused on Izuku when he came out. His hair is split evenly between white on his right side and crimson red on his left. As a result, he also possesses heterochromia iridium, which causes his left eye's iris to appear turquoise, while his right is a brownish-dark gray.
His eyes are pretty thin and reserved in shape. Additionally, he has a large burn scar on the left side of his face, which reaches from his hairline to halfway down his cheek. The boy gave him such an intense look that Izuku wanted to look behind him to see if there was someone else.
"Momo went to get the medical supplies," Set said to Juzo, who looked disappointed. "Izuku has been helping us the last few days."
"You got into the altercation with Bakugo," Juzo said.
"Morning Detention," Izuku smiled, setting the last lunches down.
Before anything else could be said, Shoto stepped up close to Izuku, "Why do you hate Endeavor?" he said in a demanding tone.
"Hey, back off, my classmate, Shoto," Set said, ready to defend her adonis.
"Shoto back up," Juzo added, placing an arm on his shoulder.
"You called Endeavor asshole and referred to Bakugo as an eighth-rate Endeavor," Shoto said, shrugging off Juzo's arm. "So why do you hate Endeavor?"
"Look, man, sorry if I insulted your favorite hero," Izuku began to say.
"He is not my favorite hero!" Shoto seethed.
"His name is Shoto Todoroki," Set said, glaring at Shoto, "Endeavor is his father."
"So you are mad that I talked trash about your dad?" Izuku said. "Look, man, sorry, but your dad is an asshole!"
"Yes, I know that, but why did you call him an asshole," Shoto said. The other three were shocked. "No one calls him an asshole, they always say that he is gruff or unique, but you called him an asshole."
"Look, I don't want to go into it, but your old man is an asshole," Izuku said. "I would appreciate it if you back up."
Shoto took a step back, "Fine." He grabbed the clipboard from Juzo and yanked the ice chest along as he walked into the cooler.
Juzo just looked shocked at the exchange. "Sorry about that, forgive us," he said, bowing and entering the fridge.
"His father is an asshole; he is an asshole," Set said quietly. "Let's finish up and get out of here."
"He doesn't get along with his father," Izuku said as they started packing drinks. "He was surprised that someone else didn't like his father either. His dad is the number 2 hero in the country, and people will not talk bad about him in front of his son."
"Doesn't mean he has to be such a dick; ever since the exam, he has been a dick," Set retorted.
Izuku recognized that look in Shoto Todoroki's eyes, "No, he is abrasive, but he is lonely and angry," Izuku said. "He doesn't like his dad, probably hates him; living in that house must be hard."
Set paused, "Why do you say that?'
"My cousin's mom has alcoholism. I recognize that look in the eyes," Izuku said as they placed the last of the drinks. "I think the difference is my cousin had someone to turn to and people to rely on; she had friends. Her Mom would spiral, then would clean up, but then relapse. It is a total shit show. I don't think he feels that way about his dad; his mom must be out of the picture. I know Endeavor has other kids, so maybe they are the ones he cares about."
"Then why is it so abrasive," Set said.
"He is focused on one thing, and I bet it is showing up his dad somehow; nothing else matters. If he can do it, it will fix something; at least, that is what he thinks," Izuku responded. "I probably won't see him much, but try not to be so hard on him. He needs help, but he doesn't know how to ask or what to say."
"I will do my best, Izuku," she said. "But only because you asked me to."
Izuku smiled at her, "I wasn't aware I had such powers."
"If you only knew," she muttered, "Hey, when your friend asks you a favor, and it amounts to be nice," Set said where he could hear. "I think that is an easy yes. Let's get out of here."
They returned to the classroom just after Momo, and then they could sit and talk about the day. Momo was happy to help him with a math problem he had struggled with on last night's assignment. Set excused herself from the room. Izuku looked at Momo; she was charming, pretty, and intelligent. She has this innocence to her. If she is the girl, that wouldn't be too bad, but still, she isn't Set, and that would be messed up, he thought.
"Everything alright, Izuku?" Momo said, noticing him looking at her.
"Sorry, zoned out there for a moment," Izuku said. "Hey, Momo," he leaned over and whispered, "So do you know this mystery guy that has swooped Set off her feet?"
"A little bit," Momo whispered back. "He seems nice and caring; from my interactions with him, I think he might be good for her. Are you wondering about the mystery girl?"
"Some, but not too much," Izuku said back. "I will just have to see what happens at the end of the day."
"But is that what you want to happen?" Momo said, her eyebrow raised slightly. "They say that good things come to those who wait, but I have rarely seen that happen to those who do nothing. You have to chase it or, at the very least, say something."
"But what if you say something, and it just kind of messes things up," Izuku said.
"Or you say nothing, and it just flies away," Momo replied. "What would you say right now if I told you I am the girl interested in you."
"Wow, you are brilliant, a beautiful woman, and I would like to get to know you better," he said, blushing.
"Why thank you," Momo smirked. "But?"
"But what?" Izuku said.
"Am I the girl you are hoping to be revealed, or are you hoping for someone else?" Momo was smiling. "I am not the girl; just to be clear, please do not worry about hurting my feelings." A small laugh escaped her when she saw him visibly relax. "You don't have to tell me who you hope will be revealed, but you should tell her regardless; in all my reading, nothing ever comes of holding onto the feelings and letting them fester. Let them go and see what comes of it."
"Even if it is for nothing," Izuku said, looking down.
"It would never be for nothing," Momo responded. "I never had a friend till I met Setsuna, which also brought me Itsuka and Tetsu. The only adventures I experienced, the only romance I have dreamed about wistfully, have been in the world of books. As I think about it, everything I have read talks about the fear of voicing those feelings; no one wants to be rejected. If you voice and share those feelings with the universe, you can unburden yourself even if they don't come true."
"Won't that burden them?" Izuku said.
"How can knowing someone loves you or likes you be a burden?" Momo said, her head slightly tilted. "If they reject you and you persist, I will see the problem or the possible burden. But to know that someone feels that way about you, I think, is beautiful."
"You are truly amazing, Momo," Izuku said, smiling.
"You, Set, Neito, Sen, all of you almost lost your lives on the first training day," Momo said. "If it wasn't for Sen saving Neito and you are saving Set, then we would have had to deal with the tragedy of losing multiple classmates in one day. I would have been robbed of my first friend and the opportunity to meet my next friend."
"I would like to be your friend, Momo," he paused, thinking about what she had said. "You never know what life will bring," Izuku said.
"I can be as fleeting as a shooting star," Momo replied.
"A shooting star or a streaking comet," Izuku smiled. The door opened.
"Did you two miss me," Set came walking in with a small stack of paper and set them on Vlad's desk. "Took me forever to find those dumb things," Set flopped into her chair; she leaned on her hand and smiled. "So what were you talking about?"
"Izuku was trying to coerce information about the mystery woman," Momo smirked, "I held fast."
"She was an oak," Izuku said with a bow.
"Good, I am getting my dinosaur," Set said as her gaze never left his eyes; he could feel himself flush.
Bus Ride
Once class started, they were sent to get changed and meet at the bus for transport to the USJ. Momo and Set were out there quickly to meet with the representatives for 1-A. They don't recognize Juzo until he slid his visor back. His hero costume consists of a dark bodysuit with armor on top and a mask covering the face. The helmet is round and elliptical, tinted black with white lines on the visor and orange with black lines supporting the sides. Some tufts of hair around the back of his head and chin are still visible.
They were not surprised to see Juro there, but what surprised them was the absence of Shoto and the presence of a pink-skinned girl. Who introduced herself as Mina Ashido, the class 1-A President.
Mina is a girl of medium height with a slightly broader build than some of her other female classmates. Her skin is a light shade of pink, and she has somewhat square-shaped eyes with black sclerae and yellow irises, along with notably long eyelashes below and around the sides of her eyes. Her face is framed by short, fluffy, and unruly pink hair slightly darker than her skin. She also has two thin, pale yellow horns protruding from her head, hooked squarely and leaning diagonally to opposite sides, which seem to be slightly flexible and able to bend a bit to each side.
In her hero costume, she wears a plain white mask with thin lines over her eyes. Her skin-tight bodysuit is purple and turquoise with a camouflage pattern ending just above her breasts. Over this, she wears a cropped, sleeveless, tan-colored waistcoat with white fur along its collar, which she leaves unbuttoned. She also wears custom-made plum violet and beige acid-proof boots with holes in the soles, allowing her to secrete acid from her feet and slide around.
"Expecting Todoroki," she said, her hand on her hip.
"Yes," Momo said, bowing. "I do not mean to offend; we had assumed that your teacher appointed you like ours have."
"We had an election," Mina smirked. "It is a pleasure to meet you both, so I had an idea that we could have a member of your class sit with a member of my class to help them get to know each other and promote cooperation."
"That is a good idea," Set said.
"I agree it has merit," Momo added. "How would you like to assign seats?"
"You call a person I call a person kind of like picking teams for softball," Mina said, smiling. Something about this whole thing nagged at Momo, but she couldn't put her finger on it or think of a reason to object.
When the classes started to emerge, Izuku heard his name called and saw Ochaco waving to him as she ran over. He was momentarily speechless seeing her in her hero costume. Her hero costume is a black, full-body suit with a pale pink design down the middle of her torso. The suit is topped with two black semi-spheres on her chest, two pink stripes starting at her midsection, and a deep pink choker. Additionally, she wears two-toned pink sleeves with cuffs and matching pale and deep pink-colored accessories, including round gauntlets with handles. She also wears chunky knee-high boots with deep pink shock-absorbent soles, grey heels with stiff springs to soften landings, and a two-piece belt with a round buckle. She wore matching headgear with a tinted visor. Her costume was tight; it hugged her frame and sent blood rushing from Izuku's brain. She stopped after a little bounce in front of him, but he had difficulty reacting to seeing more things bounce.
"I like your hero costume. You look super cool, and I didn't realize how toned you are," Ochaco said, smiling and looking up at him as she was bent over at the waist, her hands behind her back, her shoulders back emphasizing her bust, her eyes drifting over his abs. "I made a mistake when I sent in my design. I wanted it to be more poofy, like a space suit, and not so tight, but the girls in my class said it looked good. What do you think." She stood up, turned around, looking over her shoulder at him so he could see her ass.
Izuku gulped, "No, they were right, Ochaco. You look stunning."
"Thank you, Izuku," she said, blushing; she leaned in, "I was hoping you would like it."
Set saw him come out and smiled at how hot he looked, but then her rival appeared, and Set wondered how much trouble she would get in for running up and drop-kicking her. Set looked over Ochaco's figure and bit her lip as Ochaco had her beat in the chest size category and was thicker in some parts, but Set felt she won in the ass and legs department. Set saw how Ochaco was flaunting her assets; she saw Izuku blush. Try all the tricks you want bitch; after today, it won't even matter, she thought.
"You are much prettier," Momo whispered. "I have a good feeling about today."
Then the trap sprung when Momo called Izuku's name, and Mina called Ochaco's.
Clever Girl, Momo thought as the two boarded the bus.
Ochaco and Izuku
"It is cool that we get to sit together," Izuku said, smiling.
"I know," Ochaco replied before leaning over, "I asked Mina to make sure we sat together," she whispered. "I wanted to spend time with you ahead of our date. I am excited."
"So am I," Izuku said. His mind raced about her saying date, not hang out or meet up, but that word date. Was this a date? Like an actual date? His mind raced.
"I wish you were in my class," Ochaco continued, "We could hang out more. How was your first heroics class? Ours got intense!"
"Why don't you tell me about yours first?" Izuku answered. Okay, what if this was an actual date, not the friend thing he thought it was or the thank you thing? Ochaco was pretty; he couldn't deny seeing her so close with the smile and hearing her enthusiasm. In her uniform, she was pretty in her costume, bordering on hot. His mind was whirling.
He listened to Ochaco tell him about her match and how she had teamed up with Eijiro to go against Tenya and Bakugo. He wanted to be surprised when he heard about how far that Bakugo had gone in the fight with Eijiro, that if it wasn't for how extraordinarily tough Eijiro was if anyone else had been in that position, he may have killed them.
He noticed how she told him how mad that had made her and the others; they had to hold Kyoka back from slapping him because he was running his mouth. Then, when they saw Izuku confront him in the cafeteria, he earned some massive brownie points with them and some of the others in class.
Ochaco glanced around and leaned in, "It was pretty hot," she whispered.
"Hot?" he said, surprised, blushing, scratching his cheek.
"Some of the girls thought so," she said, leaning close to him. "I was one of those girls."
"Really," Izuku said, trying to compose himself. "Wow."
"You know Izuku, I am looking forward to our date on Saturday," Ochaco whispered. "I hope I can show how hot I think it was afterward." Ochaco summoned her courage and kissed his cheek. "I can barely wait," she whispered in his ear; Izuku was beet red. Now he was dense, but not that fucking dense.
What the fuck am I going to do? His mind screamed.
"I saw you walking with some girl from your class yesterday. Please don't tell me that she is your girlfriend?" Ochaco said, still very close to him.
"Um, no, that was Setsuna, she uh, she likes some other guy…we are just friends," Izuku managed to say.
"We that is good if you were taken, I would consider backing down, but if you are available, then I have no intention of doing so," Ochaco said. "Saturday cannot get here soon enough!" The bus came to a stop. "See you inside, Izuku," she said as she got to her feet.
Setsuna
Setsuna Tokage, the soon-to-be Setsuna Midoriya, was just hours away from being not just fantasy but hot, steamy fact. Was happy to have a chat with Juzo and Mina as the reps were talking about the upcoming meeting; thankful for her long hair, she slipped an ear off to allow her to check on her future husband.
She bristled when she heard that Ochaco had engineered them to sit together so that she could talk with him. This girl was making it very clear that her plans with Izuku for Saturday were not of the pure, friendly variety. Clearly, Izuku had been wrong, and Setsuna had underestimated this Ochaco girl with her bouncy boobs and blushing cheeks.
She heard the sound of a kiss, did she just fucking kiss her adonis, telling him how hot he was, throwing herself at him. If anyone would throw themselves at him, it would be her, her mind screamed.
"Oh, hell no!" Set said out loud, causing a halt to the conversation. Mina, Juzo, and Momo stared at her, "I just realized I forgot to feed my fish, sorry."
I am just a friend. Of course, he thinks I am a friend. Oh, why did I not just tell him it was him? Oh no, did I get outplayed? If he thinks I like someone else and this girl is ready to jump in his lap and play tonsil hockey! I can arrange a little accident for her, she can't go on the date tomorrow. No, no need to worry. I will confess later today, jump in his arms, and the raw sexual attraction will take over from there…should I have brought a condom? No matter, I will have Momo make me 1 or 8, just in case.
The bus came to a stop, and Set pulled her ear back quickly; she stood up to try to see her adonis and saw him holding his red-faced cheek. Ochaco winked at him and strutted away. She managed to get to the front of the bus quickly and gave Set a knowing smile. "Game on!" she whispered. Set was stunned; as Ochaco and Mina stepped off the bus, they could hear Mina giggling as soon as they were outside.
Setsuna took a deep breath, calmed herself, and took Momo's hand, leading her off the bus. "Momo, in need a dozen condoms for later!" she whispered.
"WHAT!" Momo said, drawing some attention, but Set was dragging her off.
"I need you to make me a dozen condoms so I don't get pregnant later," Set said. "When he ravishes me, I don't want to get pregnant before I graduate."
Momo was too stunned to say anything.
Welcome to the USJ
Thirty-Nine hero course students disembarked and marveled at the massive building in front of them, the largest building most of them had ever seen. It was so large in scale that they were amazed that this facility even existed. They had not even left campus, but they had to take a bus to get here, adding to the scope of the U.A., which they had yet to consider.
Izuku found himself standing next to the boy with a quirk of a blackbird and a shadow version hovering over his shoulder, "I don't believe I have ever seen anything so large," the boy muttered.
"No, it is bigger than the convention center we visited last year," the shadow said.
That made Izuku jump, "Holy heck, Is your quirk sentient?"
The two looked at him, noticing him for the first time, "Sorry," the boy said. "um, yes."
"Hi, I am Dark Shadow," the quirk responded, extending its hand.
Izuku in daze, shook Dark Shadow's hand. He had wondered if his hand would pass through it, but it didn't. It didn't feel solid, of course; it had what could be described as hardness around the edges, and the shadow felt cold when Izuku touched it. "This is so fucking cool," Izuku said before he could stop himself.
He saw the boy smile, "I am sorry," Izuku said, bowing.
"Don't be. I am cool," Dark Shadow said, posing with its chest out.
"No need to apologize. My brother's appearance can sometimes cause people to be afraid or startle them; to have someone so readily accept him is nice," he said. "I am Fumikage Tokoyami."
"Izuku Midoriya," Izuku responded. "Nice to meet the both of you."
"Our pleasure," Fumi said.
"I didn't mean to offend you by referring to your brother as a quirk," Izuku apologized to them both.
"It is easier to roll with it," Dark Shadow shrugged.
"He is a manifestation of my quirk, but he is his person and has been with me my whole life," Fumi responded. "I think we were supposed to be Twins, but something happened in the womb, and instead of him leaving, I took him into myself so we would be together."
"I like that," Izuku said, smiling.
"You're the guy that got Bakugo suspended," Dark Shadow said. "Good job, he is a douche."
"Now, brother, he is rough around the edges," Fumi tried to defend.
"He threatened to blow me and our Campaign folder up because our and our classmate's quirks and DnD are stupid," Dark Shadows cut him off.
"He is a douche," Izuku said. "Wait, you play DnD?"
"Yes," Fumi said hesitantly.
"That is so cool," Izuku said, making Fumi smile. "I was super interested but couldn't find a game to join, and my friends weren't into the sword and sorcery scene. I still have the DMG and Players Guide. I tried to join an online game, but it didn't feel right."
"Online is fun, but there is nothing like sitting around a table where you can interact and roleplay," Fumi said excitedly.
"We want to put a group together if you are interested?" Dark Shadow said.
"Hell yea I am," Izuku said. "Let's exchange contact information after training."
"That sounds like a wonderful idea," Fumi said. They would talk more when the doors opened and their homeroom teachers and the Rescue Hero Thirteen walked out.
"Greetings, Hero course," Thirteen said. "I am the pro hero, Thirteen. Do any of you know what my quirk is?"
Izuku raised his hand; he noticed Ochaco frantically waving her arm in the air; her enthusiasm made him smile; the look on her face and watching her bounce made him blush. "Go ahead, Ms. Uraraka," Thirteen said.
"Okay, you know my name, wow," Ochaco said, fangirling out a bit; she shook her head and hands for a moment. "Your quirk is called Black Hole; it mimics the suction capabilities of an actual black hole. It is so strong that not even light can escape it, and it breaks down matter in seconds."
"Since it isn't an actual Black Hole, would it affect you, Dark Shadow?" Izuku asked.
"I don't know; I wonder how I could test it without causing too much pain," Dark Shadow responded.
"We would have to establish the event horizon and see what happened at that point," Fumi said, stroking his chin. "As you get stronger with the absence of light, would being in such pure darkness empower you greatly?"
"I wonder," they all said in unison; they looked at each other and stifled their laughs.
"Despite the dangerous nature of your quirk, you have worked very hard to learn control and have become one of the most highly-ranked rescue heroes in the world!" Ochaco said, beaming.
Thirteen was thankful for her visor so the students couldn't see her blush. "Thank you very much, Ms. Uraraka. Is there anything else?"
"Can I have an autograph and a hug?" Ochaco blurted out to some laughs. A cough and death stare from Aizawa made her eyes go wide. "Um, after training if you have time." Ochaco stepped back.
"Of course," Thirteen said. Ochaco started to float off the ground, and Kyoka grabbed her with her jacks and pulled her back. The look of pure joy on her face left Izuku stunned. Wow, he whispered.
The class watched as Thirteen walked over to a large rock. The caps on her gloves opened, and her quirk activated; the rock was torn apart and disappeared completely.
"You know, on second thought," Dark Shadow whispered, hiding behind Fumi.
"Everything your classmate said is correct," Thirteen said. "When my quirk manifested, I was terrified; I saw what happened, and it manifested on our family's farm. I had to watch as it tore apart an animal; it scared me to my very core. I was terrified of it, but I made a promise to myself that I would learn to control it, that I would learn to use such a powerful and potentially destructive quirk to save people."
"You young people are here in the U.A. to train to become heroes; regardless of your quirk, you will learn how to use it to save people," Thirteen continued. "It doesn't matter if you are a Rescue Hero, a Combat Hero, Underground, Blood, Street, Ocean, or whatever type of hero you get labeled; you must know how to rescue people and save their lives. Heroes can find themselves in these most stressful and dangerous situations. Some villains love to attack when your attention is diverted, and those who fall under Rescue Heroes are some of their favorite targets. If you don't like using your quirks to hurt someone, you need to learn how to use them to defend someone. The villains who do this call it "Seal Clubbing," the students gasped and recoiled.
"This is your first time here at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, but it won't be your last," Thirteen said. "You will be here many times over your years at U.A. IF, and when you graduate, you will come back here to brush up on your training and tactics. Saving those trapped in these scenarios is the most important thing to me, and I am here to teach every one of you how to do it right, how to do it safely, and how to do it so you and those who are looking to you to save them get to go home at night."
"Welcome to my playground, welcome to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint or the U.S.J.," Thirteen said as the class clapped and followed her.
"She is so fucking cool," Ochaco gushed.
Momo was red-faced as Setsuna put something in her belt pouch and smiled.
They were walking through a set of massive doors where they saw so many different zones as they walked through a glass tunnel; it was all laid out: an actual lake, mountains, canyon, a real-life volcano, a forest, and cityscapes. One was on fire, one had lightning crashing around it, and another was soaked in rain; it was mesmerizing.
"This is training, but the elements you are going into are real," Thirteen called out. "You will deal with real fire, rocks, hail, snow, hurricane winds, and electrical discharges. We have done what we can to control it, but as you all know, things happen in training that are out of our control, so keep that in mind as we go into the different zones. Respect the environment, your teachers, and those on your teams, and listen to the instructions given. If you are unsure of the instructions, ask for clarification! DO NOT GUESS! GUESSING WILL CAN GET YOU OR OTHERS ON YOUR TEAM SERIOUSLY HURT!"
"YES, SENSEI!" the students yelled back.
They walked through another set of doors and were in the U.S.J. They were standing on an elevated platform overlooking a plaza with a huge fountain. The students were looking around, taking everything in. The lights flickered, and Awase called out, "Vlad King, sir, is that part of the training?" he said, pointing to the plaza and stepping back.
A large swirling black and purple portal made of smoke or mist appeared, and a slim man with pale skin and yellow-tinged teeth stepped out. He had many wrinkles around his eyes from constantly scratching at allergies that irritated his skin. His lips were chapped and uneven, and he had a small mole underneath his right lip and visible scars on his right eye and under his lip. His hair was messy and grayish-blue, varying in length, with the longest clumps reaching his shoulders and hanging unevenly over his face. His eyes and mouth were usually obscured, but when visible, they had a somewhat maniacal look, with bright red irises.
He wore plain red sneakers, black leather pants that exposed his ankles, and a matching long-sleeved V-neck shirt. Additionally, he had fourteen embalmed hands, all positioned to appear as if they were holding onto different parts of his body. He walked out with the confidence and relaxed nature of someone taking a stroll through the park.
As he emerged, another stepped out. This person's body was made out of a dark purple mist similar to the portals, save for his eyes, which were a glowing yellow that seemed to float in the mist. He wore an elegant suit, minus the jacket, opting for a vest. A metal brace was also visible from his collarbone up his neck.
The last to emerge could best be described as a monster; it was taller than All-Might, and its sizeable muscular body was covered in numerous scars across its purplish skin. The thing's brain sat exposed, its beak-like mouth had an array of sharp teeth, and its eyes jerked in different directions like someone had stuck large googly eyes on the monster for fun. It simply wore beige pants with metal knee pads designed to emulate skulls.
"WHERE IS ALL-MIGHT?" the one who appeared to be in charge called out, his voice rough and dry. "I AM SHIGIRAKI, AND THIS IS THE LEAGUE OF VILLIANS! WE HAVE COME TO KILL ALL MIGHT! BUT IT APPEARS HE IS RUNNING A BIT LATE FOR HIS FUNERAL. NO MATTER, WE SHALL WELCOME HIM WITH THE BODIES OF THOSE BEFORE US. SHOULD ANY OF YOU LIVE TO THINK BACK ON THIS DAY AND REALIZE THAT YOUR BLIND DEVOTION TO THE LIE THAT IS HEROICS AND THAT IDIOT IS THE REASON YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD? TODAY THE REVOLUTION BEGINS! TO ME, MY LEAGUE!" he dramatically snapped his fingers as the portal opened behind him and out stepped more villains; they were cacking and yelling.
Vlad and Aizawa saw the villains emerging, which was concerning, but more concerning was that some of the emerging villains wore prison jumpsuits matching those from the High-Security Prison, the Cube.
"Thirteen?" Vlad said over his shoulder.
"Communications are offline," Thirteen responded.
"Kaminari," Aizawa said.
"Nothing, sensei," Denki said, a tremble in his voice.
The two homeroom teachers looked at each other, "Thirteen, get the students out of here and sound the alarm!" Vald called out.
"Mr. Aizawa, there are too many of them, your quirk…" Eijiro shouted.
"A true hero is more than their quirk, Kirishima. Follow Thirteen or consider yourself expelled from the hero course!" Aizawa said as he and Vlad King jumped over the rail.
"Now, students, we must evacuate quickly so your teachers can do the same; get to the doors!" Thirteen yelled, and the students started to move, though some were reluctant to do so.
"Kurogiri, we can't let our sacrifices escape the blade; you know what to do," Shigiraki said to the artificial mist. "WHOMEVER BRINGS ME THEIR BODIES GETS DOUBLE PAY!" he yelled.
The villains that had emerged behind him cheered and rushed Vlad and Aizawa.
The class was moving towards the door when a portal opened before them, and Kurogiri stepped out; Thirteen took position between the class and the villain.
"Such a good shepherd, leading her flock to the altar," Kurogiri sneered.
"The only place I will lead them is to safety," Thirteen called back; her hand came forward, the caps covering her fingers released, and her quirk sprang forth. Another portal opened before the villain, and one opened behind Thirteen. The attack went from one portal to the other, striking the hero in the back; they heard her scream as the back of her suit was torn away along the skin, and blood erupted. Thirteen fell to the ground, cutting off her quirk.
"The altar has been prepared, and the blades have been sharpened; let your death screams summon All-Might into everlasting despair before he dies," Kurogiri said.
"I don't think so," Eijiro said as he jumped. His body transformed; he had increased in mass, his entire body covered in rock, with jagged points along his forearms and shins. "It's clobbering Time!" he yelled.
Togaru created a blade and came in from the left as Sato had downed a sugar pack and came in from the right. Ibarra's vines grabbed Thirteen and yanked her back; a portal under her was throwing her off balance. When it snapped shut, it cut the vines clean.
"Futile," Kurogiri said mockingly as portals swallowed them up. "Goodbye, little lambs," he said. As portals erupted everywhere, consuming students, Set broke apart and went airborne to no escape as she was swallowed.
Ochaco dove and caught Thirteen, negating the hero's gravity; she saw a portal open underneath them as they fell. Izuku dived and grabbed them. He twisted and threw them away from the portal. He landed on the other side, planted off the ground, and charged Kurogiri, turning into an elephant and hoping to trample the villain. Instead, he was swallowed by another portal.
Using his quirk, Sen avoided the portal that had tried to swallow him, sending out and over it. He redirected his quirk at Kurogiri, sending him flying back. All the portals around them snapped close as the villain crashed into the railing. Nearly the entire class had been scattered, and the fight for the U.S.J had begun.
