" Dr. Fell, Detective Salvatore said you found something. A match?" Elena asked as soon as she walked into the Corner's office. It's been almost a week since Elena found both of her parents dead, and she's still not anywhere near solving the case or finding her parent's killer. But she has a very good idea of who it can be. She just hoped that Meredith Fell had found the right match.
" Aren't you supposed to be at the Funeral?" Meredith asked.
" I'm on my way there. But I wanted to stop by here first." Today is her parent's funeral and Damon has offered to drive her. But Elena had insisted that she drove herself instead and the Corner's office was her first stop. Plus she wanted to be by herself so she could clear her head.
Meredith nodded." Well, the bullets that I was able to get out of your parents' heads were shot from a .38 Magnum." She said, handing her report to Elena, so she could see it herself."
Are you sure?" Elena asked as she took the report out of Meredith's hand, so she could take a look for herself. After looking at the report, and noticed that Meredith was right." I gotta get to the funeral. Thanks for your help." She said as she handed back the report and turned around to walk out of Meredith's office.
Walking through the Church doors, Elena took a deep breath as she walked down the aisle of the church, toward the front of the Pews and sat down next to her Aunt Jenna and Uncle Ric, along with her Uncle John and his wife, her Aunt Isobel. Jeremy was sitting at the end with his wife and their son.
" Hey, where did you go?" Jenna asked softly.
" Just drove around, and I had to clear my head,." Elena answered softly as she then looked straight ahead and listened to the Priest start talking about her parents. As Elena sat there listening to the Priest, she felt her eyes getting wet as tears started to stream down her cheeks, which caused her mascara to get ruined. She quickly wiped her tears and smiled a little when she felt Jenna squeeze her hand.
The Priest stopped talking when he looked at everyone who was sitting in his church. Would someone like to come up and say a few words?" He asked.
Jeremy spoke up once he stood up." I would like to say something." He said as he walked up to the Podium. Jeremy looked over at the large photo of his parents on their wedding day. He then took a deep breath as he turned his attention to everyone and started to speak.
" You know, I always knew that we would have to bury our parents someday. I just never expected that someday to be today." Jeremy said as he looked over at both of their caskets and then looked over at his family, more specifically Elena." Mom and Dad had always told me and Elena that if anything were to ever happen to them, we promised to look out for each other, no matter what. Elena, I'm sorry that I wasn't there for you the night we lost Mom and Dad. I'm even more sorry that you had to deal with it alone. But as I stand up here today in front of our family and friends, as your brother, I promise to always be there for you, no matter what and you won't have to go through this alone."
" Thank You," Elena said with a sad smile as she wiped away her tears.
Jeremy nodded as he returned the smile before he looked over at the caskets one more time." Mom, Dad. Thank you for everything, that you have given me and Elena. I love you both and I will miss you both every day. Goodbye." Jeremy said softly as he stepped down and walked towards his family and gave them each a hug before he went back to his own family.
" You did great up there. Your parents would be so proud of you." Bonnie said softly with a smile as she leaned over and kissed his cheek.
" Thanks, babe," Jeremy said as he returned the kiss on her cheek.
Jenna leans forward." Do you wanna say something?" She asked Elena.
Elena shook her head." I'm okay. I don't need to say anything."
Everyone went back to Elena's after the funeral. While everyone was eating and talking with each other. Elena sat outside on the porch swing. The same porch swing that her dad built when she and Jeremy were kids.
Hearing footsteps, Elena looked over and smiled softly as she noticed Damon walking towards her." Hey," she said softly.
" Hey, you doing okay?" Damon asked as he sat down beside her and brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Elena nodded." Yeah, I'm doing okay."
Damon nodded back." Good, so what did Dr. Fell have to say?"
Elena deeply sighed as she knew, he was going to ask her about it." She said the bullets came from a .38 Magnum." Elena answered as she looked over at Damon.
" Are you serious?" Damon asked as he furrowed his eyebrows together.
Elena nodded." Oh, I'm dead serious Damon. Wanna take a guest who owns a .38 Magnum?"
Damon shook his head." I don't have to. Klaus Mikelson is the one who owns a gun like that." Damon answered with a sigh.
" Exactly, Klaus Mikelson murdered my parents Damon, and I'm going to bring that son of bitch down. Klaus Mikelson will not get away with this." Elena said with so much determination.
Damon reached over and grabbed Elena's hand and gave it a squeeze." We'll both take him down, together."Damon said with a small smile as he let her know, that she didn't have to do it alone.
Elena nodded as she rested her head against Damon's shoulder." Thank you." She said softly.
Damon turned his head a little and kissed her forehead." I'm always going to be here for you Elena." He said as he squeezed her hand again.
Liz Forbes was sitting behind her desk, going through police reports, when she heard a knock, at her office door." Come in." She caĺled out as she picked up her coffee mug and took a sip of her coffee before setting it back down.
" You wanted to see me, Captain?" Elena asked as she walked in and closed the door behind her.
Liz nodded as she sighed deeply." I hate having to do this, but I'm taking you off the case."
Elena looked at her Captain with confusion as she shook her head." Can I ask why?"
Liz leaned back against her chair and sighed again." Because you're too close to it, and going after Klaus Mikelson isn't just about your job. Going after him is personal for you and you're not thinking straight." She said as she explained why she was taking Elena off the case.
Elena furrowed her eyebrows for a moment." How, did you know that it was Klaus Mikelson?"
" Dr. Fell had faxed me her reports this morning, and in her report, it said that a .38 Magum. So I already knew that it was Mikelson." She answered when her office door opened and walked in with Caroline and Bonnie.
" You wanted to see us," Bonnie said as she stood beside Caroline.
" I need you guys to go pick up Klaus Mikelson for questioning," Liz told both of her Detectives.
" Klaus Mikelson? As in Kol Mikelson's brother?" Caroline asked.
" Why are we bringing him in?" Bonnie asked as she wasn't sure what was going on.
" Because, as of right now. He's our prime suspect." Liz answered as she watched Elena walk out of her office.
Both Bonnie and Caroline walked over to Elena a moment later." Hey, are you going to be okay?" Bonnie asked softly.
" I will be, as soon as we get him. I'm coming with you guys," Elena said as she grabbed her jacket and walked out of the police station before either Bonnie or Caroline could stop her or talk her out of it.
" Elena! Wait," Caroline called out as she and Bonnie followed her out of the station." Are you sure, that you want to do this?"
' Yeah, I'm sure Caroline. Klaus murdered both of my parents and I want to be the one who brings him in. I want to be the one who puts him behind those bars."
" Listen, Elena. We know why you're doing this. But we, don't think that this is a good idea." Bonnie said as she was trying to reason with Elena.
" Bonnie, if it was your Grams that you had found murdered. Wouldn't you want to find the bastard who did it? What about you Caroline? What would you do? If it was your Mom?" Elena asked her two friends.
Caroline sighed deeply as she nodded." Okay, you can come with us."
Elena sighed in relief." Thanks, guys; I really appreciate this." She said as she got into the passenger side behind Caroline and closed the car door.
" Are you sure, about this?" Bonnie asked as she looked over at Caroline.
" Honestly? No. But Elena is right though. If we were in her situation. We would be doing the same thing." Caroline knows that Elena isn't thinking clearly, and she already knows bringing Elena is a bad idea. But she completely understands why Elena is doing this.
AN: My writing has been kinda slow lately. Which is why I haven't been updating as much. But I managed to finish this chapter, even though it took me a while. Hopefully, this will make up for my slowness. Also, even though I do watch crime shows. I still don't know nothing about it, and I'm just making stuff up as I go a long. I will update my other Delena stories soon.
