At WWE Headquarters, Colby and Jon sat in a small conference room. They did schoolwork on company laptops as punishment for having gone out on Raw. Out of Colby left a sigh of boredom after reading a whole section about kinetic engird and how velocity and mass work with it.
"I still don't get why must do actual schoolwork." Colby complained to his twin.
"Because you couldn't just let Punk run his mouth." Jon replied.
"Neither could you since followed me out there."
"Wish I'd been smart enough not to follow you."
"This wouldn't be so bad if was learning stuff to do with wrestling."
"Too easy would that be for us." Jon reminded.
"What are we going to use Physics for as wrestlers any way?" Colby wondered.
Jon just ignored Colby to keep focused on his own schoolwork. He could see how the courses Stephanie set up would go with wrestling. The boys were doing the work when Hunter peaked in on them before heading back to his office. When he opened the door, Hunter had not expected for Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Mark Calloway, and Glenn Jacobs to be inside.
"We got some serious talking to do." Glenn declared.
"I got a feeling about what our talk is on." Hunter said and sat in his desk chair.
"We're your friends and know you don't have sons. Who are these boys that you're claiming are?" Mark asked.
"It's going to sound like something hard to believe."
"We'll see." Steve replied.
"After Rumble, Jon and Colby were found, having been turned back to sixteen years old. Colby says a dust hit them when opened his locker room's door. Steph and I thought best to say they're our sons to keep the situation handled."
"Does sound hard to believe I admit." Mark shook his head.
"They're not your sons to raise, Hunter." Steve declared to the Game. "They got families that need them. You got to find a way to turn them back."
"How? Any of you ever heard of this happening to someone?" Hunter questioned his friends.
"No, but you can't pretend to be a family." Glenn told him. "We thought mentoring them had been enough for you."
"Steph and I are only giving them some stability with this situation. When they actually been sixteen, life was rough for them."
"Can you handle it when they're back to their real ages?" Mark asked.
"If they can be turned back." Hunter corrected.
"Back to their real families got to go Colby and Jon at some point. Do you expect Becky and Renee to raise their daughters on their own?" Steve asked.
No secret was it of Austin having a soft spot for Becky. He mentored her a little bit and regularly talked with her. The fact she may have to raise Roux alone didn't sit well with Steve.
"They can't go back to their families without causing even more problems. Becky and Renee will be treated cruel with stares and whispers with husbands currently minors." Hunter explained.
"Look, Hunter, you can't keep pretending with this. All it'll do is bring heartache for you and Stephanie." Mark warned.
"What if it was Jeff and Adam who were teenagers again?" Hunter asked the Phenom. "You can't say that Michelle and you wouldn't be dong the same thing?"
"Like Colby and Jon, they got families that need them." Mark claimed.
"If you could raise them, make up for all the pain and they went through. Give them a fresh start, you would."
"All the pain wouldn't go away though. Still would they remember it and also the longing for their real families."
"What would you have us do? Leave them on their own to deal with being sixteen again. Right now, they have something to distract from situation and find some fun in it. I won't abandon them. Dusty put them under my care in 2011 and I won't dishonor him. I wasn't there for them once since then and it resulted in Jon going to AEW. Since I've taken over, all I've hoped for is him to come home. Finally, I got that. Not just him sitting beside me for Mania or other important pay-per-views, having to hide him when there's a camera. He's back and happy."
"We know what happened due to Vince that made him leave. Is Jon back because he wants to be or is it like with the independent circuit, just to survive?" Glenn addressed the possibility.
"Hunter, I understand you wanting him close. I felt the same when Jeff was in TNA. I though realized him being in another company didn't change our relationship. For the important moments we were there for. Sometimes, I still see that young sixteen year old trying to sneakily borrow my eyeliner."
Mark took out his phone to show Hunter an album of photos on it. All of them contained Jeff, Adam, both, or them with Mark. One photo happen to be the three of them from when Undertaker gotten inducted into the Hall of Fame.
"These memories are what matter most Hunter." Mark claimed.
Hunter looked over to where Shawn sat, yet to say a word. "I'm surprised you've not told me how wrong this could go."
"I thought the others have done a good Jon of that. Hunter, I know how much Jon and Colby mean to you. When we lost Rick, it hurt as much as losing an actual parent. The longful way you would look at Mark with Jeff and Adam, or Piper and Bob with Randy, I saw. Badly, you wanted to be not just a mentor, but also another parent to someone. You called me all happy and excited the day Dusty asked you to look after Colby and Jon. And Jon's birthday being same as Rick's, proved it meant to be and worth waiting."
"Shawn, I know there's a chance they'll be returned to their real ages. Until then, I want to let them be happy and safe."
"Just be careful." Shawn instructed.
The veteran wrestlers headed to office door since said all they needed on Hunter's situation. Open got the door to hear laughing and they saw the twins using office chairs to race in the hallway. No one would guess they only a few days ago been men in their 30s. Shawn smiled at the two he took on viewing as nephews and assisted Hunter with training. Collided had the boys for them to tumble to the floor, tangled with each other.
"Boys, school work." Hunter commanded, trying to be stern.
Both boys got up from the floor to push their chairs back to the conference room and do what their dad wanted. In his office, Hunter took his phone out, thinking of what his friends had said. He went to an album of photos that contained Jon and Colby photos and videos. There was a photo of the then young men asleep on opposite sides of a couch in an arena office. Another was of Jon with him after the lunatic fringe won the WWE Championship in 2016. Over Jon's shoulders was Hunter's arm as they stood with WWE Championship on younger's shoulder. More photos held him and Colby during important moments of their wrestling careers. Hunter got to a photo from Jon's first time winning the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Like the other photo, Jon had the title on his shoulder. Between Hunter and Cody, he stood with both men proud of his accomplishment. Twice had Jon nearly lost his life due to complications after his elbow surgeries. It left Hunter scared to lose one of the two people that were closest thing to sons he had.
Exiting his office, Hunter went to check in on the boys. Colby slept with head on table instead of paying attention to lecture for his math course. Behind Jon stepped Hunter to ruffle the boy's hair, which got a playful swat. Perhaps Hunter was trying to avoid the possibility of Jon and Colby returning to actual ages. As long as they're just boys, he would not take a single moment for granted.
Once done for the day at Headquarters, Hunter brought the boys back to the house. Colby and Jon stayed in the rooms they would whenever stayed there instead of a hotel. The two fell into familiarity with being in Leveque house, having no problems. Dinner got eaten like any previous times since 2011.
After dinner, both boys got comfortable on the couch and went to Tbs that Hunter had as a favorite. Dynamite was starting, which they had been impatient to watch. Renee was outside the arena interviewing the Switchblade Jay White. They paused with the interview when Death Riders approached. On Renee being gotten to safety during the brawl of Death Riders with Cope, FTR, and Jay White had Jon relieved. Soon all of the got to the ring for Death Riders to be out numbered without Moxley. Behind barricade to the crowd fled Death Riders after Yuta got Blade Runner from Jay White and Claudio got a spear from Cope.
"Hey, Mox. I hope you're watching and know I'm waiting for an answer. Do you accept my challenge of a match for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship?" Adam Copeland wanted to know.
"Moxley told us his answer." Pac announced. "You deserve nothing, you get nothing. No"
Not pleased to be Cope about what Moxley's answer has been claimed to be. Colby glanced to Jon, curious how he was handling what just seen.
"Why haven't they vacated the title? It's like they expect me to just show up." Jon sounded confused.
"Maybe to give themselves time to decide what to do with your unplanned leave of absence." Colby suggested.
From where he stood, Hunter too wondered what direction AEW would go with vacating the title and Moxley's leave of absence. It had to be done since until back to actual ages would Moxley be back. Once Dynamite came to a close, Stephanie sent the boys to bed. Tired they must've been since gave no complaints and went right to their rooms.
Please let me know what you think of the story so far. Thank you.
