Rossi paced the small cabin, his fingers gripping the knife as he tried to control his breathing. Garcia's terrified scream echoed through his ears. He pressed his ear against the cellar door again and knocked. Nothing.

His mind worked quickly. The unsub from the Sarah Callahan case must have found Eric somehow. Now, Garcia was someone he could use as leverage. Beckett wouldn't kill her yet. Not until he had used her to make him suffer as much as possible.

She had time.

He scanned the room, looking for anything he could use to escape.

Hold on, Kitten.

The SUVs tore down a dirt road.

"Two minutes," Kevin said.

Morgan had a hand on his weapon. "Two minutes too long."

"We need to be careful," JJ said, "He's expecting us, and if Beckett does what he did before, he'll want to punish us for investigating."

"I know," Hotch said, "But we don't have a choice. We have to take control of the situation."

Reid was still flipping through Rossi's book. "Walter Beckett won't just kill them; he'll test them. If Rossi has played by his rules to keep Garcia safe, he's probably near the end. Since Garcia fits his profile, he'll probably keep her alive just to make her suffer."

Emily shook her head. "No. Beckett played with the families. If Garcia's his next victim, then he'll keep Rossi alive to watch her suffer."

The road ended abruptly, with two trails diverging into the woods. Hotch slammed on his brakes, and the doors flew open. The team poured out weapons at the ready.

"Come on. Let's move!"

Morgan was already running down the trail on the right.

"Prentiss, go with him. Reid, JJ, you're with me. Let's go."

Garcia pressed herself against the dark corner of the underground bunker where she was being held. A flickering candle cast shadows along the concrete walls.

Walter Beckett stood a few feet away, and Eric Callahan stood behind him. Walter wore a smirk.

"You are a beauty, ," he said, tilting his head. "I can see why David wanted to keep you close."

Garcia swallowed. "You're crazy if you think you'll get away with this."

Beckett chuckled. "I knew I wasn't going to get away. But now I have you."

Eric stared at the floor. "C'mon, Walt, we promised we wouldn't hurt her."

"Quiet," Beckett snapped.

Garcia's attention turned to Eric. "Do you want to be a part of this? I know you're hurting, but this won't bring Sarah back."

The man swallowed hard, looking up at Beckett, who was rolling his eyes.

"Don't play therapist, Penelope. It won't work."

A voice made them all freeze.

"Garcia! Rossi!"

It was Hotch. Her heart leaped. They came.

Beckett's expression darkened. He reached for something behind his back just as Garcia lunged for the exit. He stopped her with a strong arm and held a blade up to her cheek.

"Oh no, my darling. You aren't getting away that easily."

Garcia could barely breathe.

"You won't get away from this ," he said his voice gentle, "But don't worry. I always take good care of my toys."

He pressed the cool steel of the knife into her cheek. Garcia gritted her teeth.

I'm not going to give them the satisfaction.

She swallowed hard and looked past Beckett to Eric. "You lied to me," she said, letting the pain fill her voice, "You said this wasn't about me. You said you wouldn't hurt me"

Beckett smiled and wiped the blood away with his thumb. "You're too important for us to just let you go. And don't worry. As soon as big, strong Derek Morgan busts that door down, he and the rest of your team will be blown sky high, but you, my dear, will be all mine."

Eric shifted uncomfortably, his hand hovering near his waistband.

Garcia took a breath. "Eric, why do you think he's doing all this?"

Beckett's grip on the knife tightened and the blade was pressed to Garcia's throat. "No talking."

"Don't you think it's weird, that the person helping you with this revenge plot is treating me and agent Rossi the same way Sarah was treated? It's because he tricked you, Eric. Would your sister want you to be the kind of man who does this?"

Erics hands trembled. "He used her. Everybody used her. She was all I had left, and agent Rossi was so useless he got her killed, and then he wrote a book about her. A book! Sarah deserved better than that!"

Beckett spun her around so Garcia was facing him and punched her so hard she saw spots. Before she could process what was happening, Eric lunged at Beckett tackling him to the floor.

"Did you kill my sister?"

"Eric! Go easy buddy. She's trying to get in your head."

"Did you kill my sister? Yes or no."

Garcia stumbled to her feet, the two men blocking the exit. She noticed the knife was sitting just inches away from Beckett. She crept forward, trying to retrieve it, but just before she could, Beckett wapped his fingers around the handle.

"Eric look out!

"Yeah. I killed your sister."

Before Eric could react, the knife was plunged into his torso. He looked between Beckett and Penelope as blood filled his mouth. Beckett shoved Eric off of him, and without thinking, Penelope crawled to him, pressing a hand to his wound.

"Hey, Eric, it's okay. Look up here at me. My team is coming. We can get you to a doctor."

Beckett grabbed her arm, holding the knife against her throat as he dragged her away from Eric.

The sound of voices above made them both freeze. This time, it was Reid.

"Garcia! Rossi!"

Beckett put a finger to Garcia's lips.

"Shhhhh. Let's wait this out."
