The last chapter was a bit odd in that it came to me too quickly. This made writing this one a bit of a challenge, which always happens. I get into the flow for one chapter, and I'm in a slump when the next comes.

Chapter 48: End of the First Day

It was a well-known fact that perhaps the safest place in Japan was the Roppongi district in Tokyo, a fact attributed to the fact that All Might had built his agency there. With such a beacon of light and heroism visible for all to see, all but the most arrogant or desperate villains tried their luck there. The rest of Minato ward wasn't afforded such…protections. While other wards held the officers for top heroes, none were as symbols and deterrents as the number one hero.

Midoriya suspected that Endeavour, rather than be irritated by that, as he was with a lot of things, saw it as a challenge as the areas he had been following the man through might, on paper, be less safe than where All Might called his stomping grounds, Endeavour was the one getting more done as he seemed to have no limit to how much he could do, he kept crime down not because villains feared him, but because he could race there fast enough that any would-be villains would find themselves neutralized and captured before they could do any real damage.

With the afternoon sun strong over Minato ward, most of the office workers Midoriya and Endeavour had seen earlier had long since returned to their desks, with but only a few scared-looking stranglers, probably left late or were otherwise delayed. The once-crowded restaurants had fewer customers, but they were by no means short on clients. This was Tokyo, so customers came plenty.

Flying over one such place, a high-end establishment with a waiting list, Midoriya saw that for himself. However, Koharu noted that most clients were older men in suits. Midoriya supposed it was the sort of place for upper managers and executives to go to, both to eat 5-star meals and probably do those out-of-office deals he saw in movies and TV.

When it came to the streets, they were filled with regular passersby-locals running errands, elderly residents out for a stroll in the May Afternoon sun, and tourists, maps in hand as they explored one of Tokyo's most world-renowned districts. The roads were just as busy with cars, taxis, and buses, the sounds of engines, breaks, horns, and breaks mixing together till they faded into the background as they would for anyone who lived in urban areas. There were even a couple backpackers.

'Should I do something like that? It'll be fun to see what the rest of the world is like, even if I must stick to countries that allow pets.' Midoriya allowed himself to be distracted by the thought but got to work, mainly trying to keep up with Endeavour.

With his declaration fresh in his memory, Midoriya did his best to keep up with the number two hero. Sadly, Endeavour didn't make it easy for him. As the hours went by and Midoriya burned through the excess calories he had eaten for lunch, Endeavour always kept his lead, but he was learning. Near the end, he would arrive in time for Endeavour to show him the ropes of restraining villains while the police raced to their location.

"You'll need to know this, especially as a rookie that won't have sidekicks that can pick up the slack," Endeavour stated, not waiting for his question as Midoriya kept hold of the villain, who happened to be closer to Endeavour's build, but the teen could handle him.

"Or when you go pro and end up working as a sidekick." Kido flashed a thumbs up, having been ordered to stand back and let the intern handle this part.

"Are there any rules against restriction techniques?" Midoriya asked. The villain didn't dare struggle, not when Endeavour remained, but Midoriya could tell he was strong.

"As long as you don't cause needless harm or touch them in explicit ways, anything goes." Midoriya blushed just a bit at how blunt Endeavour could be. Of course, he knew that last part! What sort of world did they live in where 'don't grope' people had to be verbalized?

"Oh, okay, then what about this? Koharu?" Midoriya turned to his serpent friend, who slithered off his shoulders and down his arms to the villain. As she did so, her body started to steam and smoke before bursting into flames, revealing a flaming skeleton wrapped around the now-scared villain.

Turning to Midoriya as the man's sidekicks gawked, he explained things. "She can control the temperate like I do, so she's keeping him warm, but that's it."

"I was told she was useful, and it's good that U.A. wasn't exaggerating it." Endeavour hardly seemed moved by this.

"She's the best, why would you doubt that?" Midoriya asked as he considered it an insult that Endeavour thought U.A. or Izuku would lie about something like that. The man didn't respond, which was a trend for him as the police arrived. As soon as Koharu unwrapped herself and returned to Midoriya's shoulders, back to normal, Endeavour was already gone, leaving the teen to play catch-up…again.

Hours passed until the waning afternoon sun cast long shadows over the city. Neon lights flickered to life against the backdrop of gold and oranges as the first wave of workers clocked out and took to the streets in mass, taking buses, taxis, trains, or their own cars out to bars, the store to collect groceries, as he knew his mother tended to do, or just went home.

The scene of foods being prepped in those smaller cafes and bars could even reach them as they parkoured over rooftops. If Midoriya wasn't transformed, his mouth would be watering from the scent of spiced chicken, pork, fish, and so much else being prepped below. His stomach only didn't growl as he had stuffed himself at lunch, so while they had been active the entire afternoon, he wasn't as hungry as he would typically be.

Suddenly, Endeavour stopped on a building up ahead, giving Midoriya a rare chance to catch up. "That should do for the day. We're heading back to the agency. You'll watch Kido handle the paperwork for the day's arrests." Endeavour told him as soon as he landed behind him.

"Can't I watch you?" Midoriya asked. He had been following the man the entire day, and it seemed to make the most sense to continue that.

Endeavour looked over his shoulder at him. "You'll be heading out when we arrive. It won't finish for another 2 hours at least."

"I can-" Endeavour cut him off. "Know your limits, boy. You've already pushed yourself just to chase my shadow. Now it's time you learn other facets of the job and get some rest."

"Yes, sir." Midoriya slumped a little. He cut him off when he thought he had gained some leeway with the man.

"What did I tell you?" Endeavour's glare sharpened as Midoriya gave him a stiff salute.

"Yes, Endeavour!"

It wasn't much later that they arrived outside the Endeavour Hero agency. However, given how late in the day it was, the setting sun had already fallen out of view behind the many tall buildings that dotted the area. The two only saw it as they flew, or in Midoriya's case, leaped from rooftop to rooftop until they reached their destination.

True to his word, Endeavour only stayed long enough to ensure that Midoriya would be paired with Kido, who arrived a few minutes after they did after that? Out the door so fast, Midoriya was half convinced he just didn't like being in his own agency.

"Don't let the boss get to you; he's always been a workaholic." Kido shrugged it off before he turned to walk deeper into the place, Midoriya having de-transformed outside just to be polite, even if he bet that the place was one of the most –

flame-resistant buildings in Tokyo. "Let me show you what we'll be doing."

Midoriya dutifully followed Kido back to the floor, where he saw all the desks, the man leading him to one that looked pretty average. The sort one would find in any office building or even that one popular show set in an office workplace. There were few personal touches; Midoriya was scared to ask, but lucky for him.

"Don't spend too much time here; just about every sidekick here spends like 80% of their time out in the streets or training, so I never got that urge to personalize my desk, you know?" Kida explained as he sat down with a groan before pulling out a thick piece of paperwork left for them.

Pulling up a seat, Midoriya sat upright beside him, as attentive as possible. At the same time, Koharu decided now was a good time to nap.

"Alright, listen up," Kido said, flipping to the first page. "You'll be doing this yourself before long, so you might as well learn how to do it right." He tapped the header with a practiced motion. "This first section is for the initial alert—when and where we got it. You remember when we first heard the call?"

Midoriya shook his head. "I wasn't looking at the time, but it was around 10:30, I saw a store with a clock out front a few minutes before Endeavour took off. That was when we were downtown, close to Shelton's Electrics. He didn't say what it was but it was a robbery in progress about 5 blocks away. Endeavor already resolved it by the time I caught up."

Kido hummed, as he didn't think he could have expected much else with how the boss operated. "Alright, that's not bad, but try to keep the time and place in mind next time. That sort of stuff is important; if you mess it up, it could get questioned in court." Lucky for both of them, Kido had been present and had done just that, so he quickly filed in the required info.

"Next up," Kido continued, flipping to another section. "We report our arrival on the scene. There's always a gap between when the alert is sent unless you have a teleportation-type quirk, but those are incredibly rare. For us, it helps when building the situation after the fact. Just like with the first one, it needs to be accurate, and trust me, the boss will sooner fire you than forgive you for lying to make it seem like you got that faster than you did."

"That seems a bit extreme. I understand we must be honest, but to fire someone…couldn't he reprimand them?" Midoriya asked as they had talked about it briefly in class. Hero. Hero work was brutal not just in terms of work but also reputation. Not just in terms of work but also reputation. Being fired from an agency made it incredibly difficult to be hired by another, and plenty of pros had just up and retired when it happened; such were the poor odds.

"Nope!" Kido turned his head to him, his eyes as severe as the grave. "Heroes aren't just government workers, and being a hero isn't just being a fighter; you need to hold up ideals, and one of those is honesty in your work. The boss proves that your personality could be…difficult," Kido didn't quite know what to say there. Midoriya agreed as they could say what they felt about Endeavour's frankly terrible people skills. Still, one was an intern, and the other was his direct employee. Best not to pock the bear.

"If the boss thinks it was an honest mistake, you'll get chewed out so bad you'll feel like crap for like a week, but that's that. To purposely report false info to him…and to me, you don't have a place here." Kido finished, which, as harsh as it was, made perfect sense to Midoriya.

"Moving on, as you weren't there for the actual arrest, we'll leave that blank for the boss to fill in, but what did you do when you got to the scene," Kido asked him, which got Midoriya to pause, his face a little red as he recalled the incident.

"Well…nothing really; he had already done almost everything, so I maybe stood to watch?" Midoriya squirmed under Kido's gaze. Looking back on it, it did seem rather sad that all he did was gawk at Endeavour before chasing after him, and not for the only time that day.

"You did, or you didn't, which is it? Remember, be honest." Kido reminded him, tapping the paper with his pen.

"I didn't watch." Midoriya shamefully replied, only for the sidekick to place a comforting hand on his head.

"Well, no shame there. The boss is an efficient man. We can work on it. Since you're an intern, you can't get involved with the fight unless Endeavour gives his permission, but you could do evacuation and containment. Tomorrow, you should focus on that," Kido explained.

"Wait, does those seem contradictory?" Midoriya asked.

"Not really. A hero's job is, first and foremost, protecting people, so if there is an incident, it'll be your job to ensure everyone gets away from the place. If it is a hostage situation, once the villains are engaged, you get the hostages out as fast and safely as you can." Kido explained.

"When it comes to containment, that could mean ensuring that the villains don't escape or people get in. It can also mean locking down the crime scene till the police get there. Wouldn't want any possible evidence compromised or missing, would you?" He asked at the end, to which Midoriya shook his head. Enough crime shows made it a big point how evidence, even small things, could make or break a case.

"With the report, do we have to write a step-up-step thing or?" Midoriya asked, looking at the rest of the form, which seemed multi-paged. There was still that large stack to deal with. Were they supposed to handle it before they clocked out?

"Yeah, but try to keep to the important stuff. No one will police the word limit; honestly, the fewer words there are, the better. What matters is that the important information is clearly written here." Kido hardly seemed bothered by that, which only made Midoriya dread it all the more and hope it wasn't hard.

Kido continued to flip through the papers before he landed on one section and tapped it. "Here's where we note any issues. Injuries, property damage, that sort of thing. Even minor stuff like a bruise from blocking an attack or cut from a knife should go in."

"Well, the guy seemed to have knocked over some tables. It was a flower shop, and I saw at least 8 pots smashed on the floor." Midoriya replied though he doubted the damage had been caused after Endeavour arrived on the scene.

"That would go under property damage. The store owner probably also noted it, and so did the police, but it helps when multiple sources confirm it. if nothing else, it makes the insurance claim easier for the store owner." Kido stated as he wrote that several of the store's flower pots had been destroyed in the attempted robbery.

Kido looked up, and he was pleasantly surprised by how their intern was handling himself. Most would be bored out of their mind, but the kid was attentive, a notebook in hand as he wrote down his instructions as he spoke them; the kid even drew little chibis of him pointing at the stuff he circled as important.

"Where would we put stuff about witnesses?" Midoriya asked, getting a pleased nod from Kido because of how proactive the kid was.

"That would be here," He flipped through the papers with practiced ease, landing on a sheet with empty lines. "Put the description of the witness, their name, and contact details if you got them as well, and then write a summary of what they said. The police can follow up on that later."

Kido kept explaining things to him, and Midoriya nodded and asked questions as they went, writing down anything important to reference later. Soon enough, they were done, and Midoriya found that despite the length of it, it wasn't too hard to deal with.

Kido joked that the kid's enthusiasm would die out when he had to handle a few of them for himself, but to his surprise, the kid was still going strong even an hour in. He couldn't fill in everything, but when he could, he made sure to be as concise and detailed as possible. Frankly, Midoriya fell into the zone as he worked, not even noticing when Kido left to get a coffee or when Burnin returned with Todoroki and the two sitting a couple desks down to start.

When Kido returned with his coffee and a sandwich, he had only put it down for a second before Hebimi snatched up half his sandwich and started to rapidly nibble on it; Kido and the passing by Onima watched, baffled but curiously as Midoriya ate like a mouse shaped furnace, as his jaw hardly moved as it seemed like the sandwich just slid into his mouth, yet his cheeks before like magic, he was done.

Having not even left crumbs on his seat, Midoriya reached for the second sandwich, which had the same fate as the first. 'Wait, did he even know that was food, or just assume?' Onima thought.

'What is he? A chipmunk?' Kido decided that he'd have to question the kid, but later, as they continued to work through their files. The added help and diligence meant that he finished all of it early. Good thing, too. As Endeavour walked through the doors, Kido looked at his watch and noted that around 2 hours had passed since he was last there.

"Welcome back, boss!" Burnin greeted the man, who nodded in return, his eyes tracing over the room before he landed on the two interns. Both seemed to be busy filing reports…or at least one was, but Midoriya seemed to be done already.

Calling them over, Midoriya proved to be like Burnin as he was quick about it and eager for orders, while his son was just fast enough not to be seen as dragging his feet. "That's it for the day; we'll start fresh tomorrow." Both boys nodded, as the day was a long one for them.

Turning his gaze to the intern, who seemed to respect him, Endeavour added, "Midoriya, you'll be with Burnin tomorrow. She'll be assisting you with your quirk. Shoto, you'll be shadowing me." When he turned to Shoto, as he expected, his son was eager for it as a cat when he learned it was going to the vet.

"Sure."

Endeavour grunted as he looked towards his best sidekicks, the woman ignoring how tense things were between the two Todoroki. "For your accommodations, Burnin has volunteered her apartment. I expect you to act as a proper guest, as you should."

"Yes, Endeavour." Midoriya saluted him, and the man dismissed them. Burin told Midoriya to go get changed and told her that she'd meet him in the lobby. Midoriya bowed as he thanked her for letting him stay with her, and then to Kido for helping him learn the less glamorous side of hero work before he rushed for the stairs, the elevator too slow for him as he managed to get to the locker room where he and Todoroki got dressed, changed out of his hero gear before heading down to the lobby.

When he arrived, Burnin was already there, and much like himself, she was out of her hero gear and dressed like a jogger would before they went out for an evening run. But what drew Izuku's eye was her hair. It was still flaming, or maybe it is better to say burning. It was so bright and green, like his own, that he couldn't help but be drawn to her like a moth to the flame.

Burning, or as she went when out of costume, Kamiji Moe noticed the kid when he entered the lobby but didn't say anything because he seemed spellbound by her. She had been used to guys looking at her like that since middle school; she was hot, metaphorically and literally, but there was something different with the kid.

He wasn't eying her body with fantasies in mind, nor did he look like her old crush did, feeling something closer to love or attraction. Instead, his remained on her hair. Even that was new as others looked at it like a novelty, or even with fear, but not him. It was like he was seeing something precious and scarce.

'Well, the boss said something about the kid being fascinated with all things fire. Wonder if he was caught eyeing the big guy's beard.' She thought to himself as Midoriya approached her, his eyes never leaving her hair till when he was close enough, he reached for it. She smelt his hand burning, but the kid didn't so much as flinch as he 'felt' around her hair, his smile looking like a kid touching a puppy for the first time.

"You're a brave one, aren't ya?" Kamiji spoke up, Midoriya's eyes still looking glossed over as he reacted. "Most guys at least buy my dinner first." She joked.

"Wha-…" Midoriya blinked before he realized what he was doing and the fact that others were watching, some hiding their laughter behind their hands or turning. Immediately, he jumped back, not caring about how his hand was covered in 3rd-degree burns. "I'm sorry!"

Kamiji was too busy laughing at his face to care, as his face had gone so red that it was insane. She's never seen someone just get so flustered. "Oh, your face; anyone tells you you look like a strawberry?" She continued to laugh as Koharu calmed her human enough for him to realize Burnin wasn't angry.

"You're not the first…" Midoriya muttered as Tokage would have a field day if she ever learned about this. He would…keep this as his little secret.

Eventually, Kamiji got herself under control. Midoriya noticed how her hair's color and heat spiked with her mood as she waved off his actions. "No harm, no foul, kid. If you want to touch my hair, next time, ask. I can't have you roasting your hand like that in public." She pointed to his hand, though the appendage was already rapidly healing, steam flowing off it as burned cells seemed to burn away, leaving fresh, healthy cells.

"It felt soft…" Midoriya added, but so softly that Kamiji hardly heard it.

"What was that?" She asked him.

"Your hair," Midoriya's face grew a little red again, as he wasn't used to complimenting girls like this, much less in a way that felt so intimate. "It felt soft, like cotton." He described, leaving the older woman to blink in surprise, as that was…new. She knew she was hot and had been in a few relationships. Still, ever since her quirk came in, no one had ever complimented her hair in a hair that wasn't 'it's unique' or 'it's bright.'

Hell, outside people with some sort of flame resistance couldn't even touch it, so only she would know how it felt, at least until now.

"You're the first to say that; most can't get past the whole 'fire' part." She shrugged, not feeling anything horrible about it.

"…I've been told most don't like being burned," Midoriya stated, remembering how his classmates got when he told them he had to burn to use his quirk. Something that seemed like common sense to him yet something terrible to them.

"That they do, I wouldn't know. I got a crazy resistance to fire; else, I'll be sleeping with the worms already." Kamiji laughed as her hair fluttered about, seemingly mocking the concept of it harming its user.

"I just heal from anything my flames do to me," Midoriya replied but paused before adding. "Well, anything done to be period."

Kamiji nodded before she pointed towards the exit. "Sweet, not let's go. I want to catch the next train, or we'll be waiting an hour." Also, she kinda wanted to be out of there before the boss and his brat got down. She respected the hell outta the man, but dammit, was he unpleasant on the best of days, and it seemed to run in the family.

The younger Todoroki had been incredibly stand-offish the entire day and hardly knew the first thing about using his flames. When she asked, the brat got pissy. What, did she kick him in the balls or something? It was not her fault he relied mainly on his ice, but she made it clear that she wouldn't tolerate him half-assing it, and she bet the old man would be the same come tomorrow. Or not; she didn't know how he was with his kid, but it wouldn't be her problem anymore.

Leaving the building, the night hair was cool, yet neither felt it with how hot their bodies burned without thought. Instead, they turned and walked towards the train station. "I have a question about that, actually. But does Endeavour do this often? Have interns stay with his sidekicks? I thought the school would buy for our accommodation." Midoriya asked as they left the Endeavour agency behind.

She swung her hand about. "The agency has accommodations, but the boss thought it would be best if we spent time outside work together so we can learn how pros manage themselves off the clock," she replied as the two fell into conversation about minor things, discussing their interests in music and food. Getting to the station, Midoriya found that Kamiji was…well, incredibly brash, outspoken, and confident in all she did.

But she was also friendly, perceptive, and caring. When a little kid saw them on the train, she spent half the trip making funny faces to them, the toddler giggling and clapping the entire time. Izuku could say that he liked her. She was probably the first flame user he met who wasn't so ironically cold.

When they got off at their stop, it was in a messier part of town. Nothing like a slum, but certainly far from the high-rises and glamour of Minato, it was friendlier, for lack of a better term. The city was developed, yes, but it seemed smaller, with much fewer tall buildings. In fact, as Kamiji led him down the street, the woman stating they didn't need a cab, Midoriya saw that the tallest building was maybe 10 stories tall.

Her place was true to her word, within walking distance. As she explained, her spot wasn't in the city center but close to the suburbs, which seemed surprising to him. "But aren't places in the suburbs expensive?"

"The big guy works us like hell, but he pays well, and that's on top of what we get from the government for hero work," Kamiji replied as they walked down the quiet sidewalk of the pleasant-looking neighborhood.

"Is that normal?" Midoriya asked, as it would need to be pretty good pay for a single person —or at least he thought Kamiji was single—to afford a place here. He didn't know the exact details, but housing was not cheap. It was why he and his mother lived in an apartment despite his father taking a well-paying job overseas.

Kamiji laughed it off, his eyes drawn again to how her hair danced with her amusement. "Nah, Endeavour just likes to attract talent with a big ass pay cheque at the end of the month." That made sense, especially when he saw how hard Endeavour works his people and the strict standards he keeps. Ensuring his people were well compensated at the end of the day seemed like a smart play.

Turning the corner, Kamiji stopped at a gate to a residence with her name out front. "Well, here it is, home sweet home." She introduced herself, and Midoriya had to admit, her place was lovely. It was nestled into the corner of a quiet neighborhood; she lived in a double-story house that blended traditional styles with modern elements. It had a low, sloping roof with dark roof tiles—or maybe they were green—it was too dark to say.

There was a small garden with a healthy maple tree out front, though one look told him she would need to rake some leaves. Lastly, there was a well-lit stone path leading to the front door.

"It's big…"

"Yup, got it when not too long ago; the price was a steal, so I couldn't resist." Kamiji opened the gate and let them in, closing it behind them as she walked to the door, pulling out a set of keys to unlock it. "I'll show you to the guest bedroom. You can shower, and then we can have dinner."

Inside, they swapped out their shoes for slippers, or at least he did. Kamiji just tossed her shoes aside at the door and walked in barefoot. The interior was as pleasant as the outside, with the living room and kitchen being the same space but split off. Light wood flooring was for the kitchen area, while tatami mats covered the living room, and soft beige walls encompassed the entire space.

In the living room part, there was a low wooden table with floor cushions instead of a sofa, while a large TV was mounted on the wall surrounded by wall carboarding containing some photos, trinkets, and other items Kamiji owned.

The kitchen was compact but still larger than the one he had at his apartment, with wooden cabinetry, a clean and empty double sink with dishes, probably stuff she used that morning, still sitting in the rack where they long dried while to the side, was a ridiculously large fridge and combatively large freezer next to that. Underneath the cabinets to one side, he saw a microwave and coffee maker with a stove in the corner of the room. The space had just 2 lights, one over the table in the living room and another in the kitchen, with a hallway to the side where he could see stairs near the end.

True to her word, she led him down the hallway, pointing out the guest bathroom and closet before they ascended the stairs. Her room was the furthest door to the right, and he was the door opposite. She had already had it cleaned and prepared, the place being as basic as possible.

She reminded him that this was her house, so he shouldn't be walking around half-dressed as that was her job, and after she calmed down from laughing about how red he got, she relieved his worries about that as she didn't make a habit of strutting about in the nude. Still, the bathroom didn't have a lock on it, so he should always knock first when he wanted to use it. Ground rules set, she allowed him to shower first before he changed into something more comfortable, that being a large-sleeved shirt with the kanji for 'butter' on it and shorts, and he waited downstairs for her.

Kamiji was down not long after him. The woman was wearing blue sweats and an orange spaghetti top, both doing a good job of advertising how much her physically demanding job benefits her in terms of fitness. She walked into the kitchen and asked what he wanted to eat as she didn't have left-overs she could just pop in the microwave for them.

At her question, Midoriya's stomach decided to answer for him, letting out a loud growl and grumble that made him go red as a tomato again as he tried to quiet his gut down by covering it with his arms. "Sorry about that. I swear, I'm not a glutton." He tried to defend himself, only for Koharu to remind him of how much he tends to eat and how much he had eaten not even seven hours prior. "That doesn't count!"

Kamiji raised an eyebrow but smirked instead as she patted her stomach, which also let out a hungry growl. "You kidding? After working with the boss all day, I would think you'll be starving. Don't worry about the food; I'll just send my bill to the boss." She went to the freezer and opened it, looking around for some fresh meat.

"Is that allowed?" Midoriya felt like that was unfair. Besides, Endeavour had already paid for his massive lunch; he couldn't expect his agency to keep fitting the bill.

She laughed off the question as she pulled out a large pack of pork which got Midoriya and Koharu's mouths watering. "Well, I'm feeding and housing you, and you're under him for your internship. That's a business expense if I haven't heard one." She told him as she went about getting other stuff, eventually Midoriya offered help to cook.

When dinner eventually came, which they served in the living room, he found that he wasn't the only one who required large portions. The heroine had served four times what his mother would have and treated it like it was normal. "How many flame users have you met?" she asked him as she drank some of her soup.

"Well, outside Endeavour-none," Midoriya replied, as there was his dad. But he hadn't seen the man in years and, if he was honest, could barely remember his face, never mind, never mind his voice. He wrote and called his mother, but that was it.

"Figures," Kamiji sighed, even as she shoved a big piece of pork into her mouth and quickly chewed and swallowed it, uncaring for how unladylike she looked. In fact, even how she sat wasn't proper, as while he treated it as if he would eat at the temple, she sat with a knee up and her legs wide open. "Listen, kid, hero work burns a crap ton of calories, and working at the Endeavour agency probably burns the most as we're expected to be as active as humanly possible. Plus, most flame quirk users require more calories than most to use our powers effectively."

When he nodded, she couldn't let her curiosity lay. "You didn't know that?"

How she asked made him feel a little, not that Koharu was much help as she happily gouged herself on some meat that Kamiji set aside for her. "I mean, I knew that I needed a lot to feel full, but I always thought that was because I needed to heal myself whenever I used my quirk."

Kamiji shrugged, before she picked dup the remote. "Could be, but that's for later, right now, we eat and watch some extreme sports!" She turned on her TV and flipped from some telenovela to the sports channel right as they were commenting on some skater boarder's hard landing off a ramp.

Well, I gotta be honest. I was expecting this to be something of a slump, but I was hit with that inspiration stick and just went on a roll. Of course, there was more planned. I wanted to show what Shiozaki, Monoma, and the rest of class B were up to while on their internships, but that can wait until the next chapter.

Oh, and this is just some trivia, but Burnin lives in Funabashi, Chiba prefecture, the prefecture where she was born. It's near her work, around an hour by train. It's certainly better than some of the students as I get that where they're born doesn't mean they still live there. Still, we know some did have to move to U.A.; for example, Uraraka's parents got her an apartment closer to the school. Pretty sure some others had to do the same.

The next chapter will be out on February 17th
