A flurry of footsteps approached as over a dozen police officers burst in, guns drawn at Ye Hai and the others, shouting, "Stay where you are! You're under arrest!"
"Wow, these cops showed up just in time!" Ye Hai mocked.
Blade, his expression impassive, said, "These officers are from the Bloodhound clan. They work tirelessly for the vampires in hopes of one day being bitten and becoming one of them."
"Is that so?" Ye Hai casually glanced at the officers and remarked, "Longevity really can drive people to madness!"
"You listen here, you're under arrest," the police officers said anxiously, their eyes fixed on Ye Hai, particularly on Blade, who had eluded them several times in the past.
"Looks like we need to break out!" Blade grinned wickedly, baring his black teeth.
"No need, I'll take you with me. Uh, I mean, we should fly…"
Ye Hai grabbed Blade's arm and soared into the air, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
"What just happened? That guy flew away!"
The officers exchanged bewildered glances, but then they sighed in relief; they knew they had no chance against such a creature.
Ye Hai quickly flew through the dark sky, losing his sense of direction in vast New York City.
"Blade, do you know where 145 Grinlin Street is?" Ye Hai asked.
"Why do you want to know that?"
"Your target,Frost, is there!"
Blade looked around, completely lost, and replied helplessly, "I've never experienced this kind of thing up in the air before. Shouldn't you know? Birds that fly can get lost too?"
"But I'm not a bird and don't have much flying experience," Ye Hai said, equally frustrated. He took out his phone and contacted Osborn's central computer: "Xuan Nu, locate 145 Grinlin Street and provide me with a directional marker!"
"Understood."
As soon as she finished speaking, a red arrow appeared on the map.
Ye Hai smirked, "Found it! Turns out high technology is reliable."
Suddenly, he turned his body and flew in the opposite direction.
Blade was a bit speechless; after flying for this long, they somehow had gone the wrong way.
After a few minutes of flying, Ye Hai suddenly dove down, landing on the ground in front of a large building. "This is it! Give me one of your vampire-slaying weapons!"
"What do you want? A shotgun filled with silver bullets, a longsword, or silver stakes…"
Blade pulled various weapons from his person; it was surprising how he was practically adorned with them.
"A single silver stake will suffice." Ye Hai took a stake longer than his palm and asked, "How does this work? Just stab it into a vampire's heart?"
"Yes. Vampires have the ability to heal quickly, but they're allergic to silver. Just piercing their heart or head will kill them instantly," Blade said seriously. "Since this is their lair, there are bound to be many vampires inside. Be careful not to get bitten; if you do, I won't hesitate to kill you."
"Not going to happen," Ye Hai shrugged nonchalantly. "Even if I get bitten, you still can't kill me. Ha ha!"
Blade's expression turned to a bitter smile; indeed, he couldn't kill him—he wouldn't be able to deal with even a single one of Ye Hai's pinky fingers.
A few guards in suits stood outside the building. Spotting Blade, they immediately attempted to call for backup. But Ye Hai lunged forward, placing the silver stake out front, and several vampire guards instantly erupted in flames, reducing them to ashes.
Blade's mouth twitched in disbelief. These guards were elite vampires, and it would take him considerable time to deal with them—but this guy had effortlessly dispatched them.
"Let's go inside."
With Ye Hai as the vanguard, the two quickly charged in, slaying every vampire they encountered. Ye Hai didn't hold back; he wouldn't leave a single vampire alive to cause trouble for Gwen's family.
After taking down a batch of vampires, they burst into a large room filled with wide yellow papers hanging everywhere. These papers appeared old and were densely covered in strange writings.
Ye Hai's eyes lit up as he said, "Is this the vampire bible?"
"Yes, it records the origins of vampires. There are many ancient tales within, but the writing is so outdated that today's people can't understand it."
Blade casually glanced at the yellow paper, showing little interest in such ancient artifacts.
Ye Hai remembered a certain plot—Frost had used a computer to decipher the bible and uncover the secret of creating the Blood God, allowing him to transform into one.
Ye Hai sniffed the air; his keen nose detected a scent and faint voices. There were people in this library.
They silently crept forward, walking a few hundred meters before spotting several individuals.
About seven or eight vampires, both male and female, were gathered, with a young man at the front talking to a mound of flesh. This mound was another vampire, grotesquely large—laying on a bed, completely naked.
The young man impatiently said, "Pearl, how's your mission coming along?"
The fat vampire, Pearl, replied in a shrill voice, "Frost, you're too impatient! There are too many words in the bible. To fully decipher it will take at least a few years!"
"Damn it,"Frost cursed. "I only need to know the secret of the Blood God; I have no interest in all this other nonsense."
"That still requires sorting through it, and it will take several months."
"The Blood God? This sounds quite interesting," Ye Hai remarked, walking over with a slight smile.
"Who?" The vampires jumped in surprise, as their keen instincts failed to detect how he had approached.
Upon seeing Blade behind Ye Hai,Frost immediately understood. He sneered coldly, "Kill them!"
The vampires around him bared their fangs, eyes gleaming with ferocity, lunging at Ye Hai. He smiled slightly, his body shifting, and the six vampires let out cries before turning into fiery figures, reduced to ash.
"My God!"Frost fell to the ground, unable to believe it, stammering, "What… what kind of monster are you? I… I don't think I've… offended you, right?"
"You shouldn't have let your minions cause trouble for my girlfriend's family," Ye Hai replied coldly.
