Ranma Half Moon 2: Phrase White - Chapter 5 - The Power of Gravitation - Part 5

"Hello? Is anyone here?" Kunochi sticks his head through the door.

Tendo Soun looks up from his newspaper. "May I help you, young man?"

"Is this the Tendo Dojo for indiscriminate grappling?"

"It is."

"I would like to join, if you would let me."

Tendo Nabiki looks around the corner. No way, there's no way that's who I think it is.

"Well, my daughter Akane is doing most of the teaching now. Let's see is she'll take you as a student."

Nabiki races off to her computer.

Soun leads Kunochi to the training hall. "Akane? We have a prospective student."

Akane looks at Kunochi. Whoa, a real pretty boy. I'll bet he hits on me within five minutes. "My name is Tendo Akane."

"Everyone calls me Kunochi. I have heard good things about your school."

"Really? Have you studied martial arts before?"

"Yes, for about three years. I am also a musician."

Oh brother, I've heard these types of come on lines before. "Really? I'll bet the girls fawn all over you."

"Yes they do, which is unfortunate since I have a boyfriend."

Okay, either this is a really deep trick or he just wants to learn how to fight. "Okay. Well, let's get started."

Nabiki pulls back from peeking in a door. He is who I think he is. I had better not blow this.

...

"Thank you very much for the session. You are a good teacher."

"Thanks. Please come again."

"I will."

Kunochi starts to walk out.

"Hey, bud."

Kunochi turns around to see another girl with shorter hair. "Yes?"

"I'm Akane's sister Nabiki. Your band is really good."

"Thanks."

"But, your web presence sucks. Your website is bare bones with only a tiny number of pictures. I know this is sudden and presumptuous of me, but I would like to submit to you a management plan. If it is horrible, you may laugh at me. But if it is good, I would like to manage Phrase White."

An outsider? Well, I think we could be keep her in the dark about the real purpose of the band, and that would help to give the group a more legitimate image. "Here is my card. Please email your plan. I will honestly consider it."

"That is all I need." Nabiki bows to Kunochi.

...

Ranma and Genma practice in the park.

"You know, my boy, if you were a real man, you wouldn't be bothered by a bunch of pretty boys."

Ranma dodges his father's attack and uses Genma's head as a trampoline. "You probably can't relate because you're old and fat and no one pays attention to you."

"I am robust!" Genma jumps at Ranma but Ranma easily evades him.

Suddenly explosions go off around Genma and Ranma. Ranma falls asleep.

...

Ranma wakes up and realizes that he is bound head to foot.

"Ranma, you're awake! I am so glad."

"Zoiki, why are you doing this?"

"I want you to realize the worth of my lyrics."

"But, even your F4 friends don't like your lyrics."

"Liar! That's impossible!"

"It's true. Two of them told me themselves."

Zoiki falls to his knees and starts weeping. "My life is over."

"Hey, look here. You know, you could take classes in lyric writing. You could read books on it, right?"

"I can?"

"Yeah. Who knows, maybe after a while you'll get the hang of it and people will praise your lyrics naturally without you having to kidnap and tie them up."

Zoiki bows to Ranma. "Thank you Ranma, it takes an innocent child like yourself to point out that an emperor like myself has no clothes on."

"Um, I really didn't need that image."

"Let me untie you."

Ranma stands up and the ropes fall off of him. "I already undid the knots."

"Remarkable." What the heck? No criminal has ever been able to get out of those knots. I had better warn my trainer about this guy.

Suddenly the doors to the giant shed that Zoiki is holding Ranma in burst open. "Ranma! We're here to save you!"

Ranma looks at Hani and Mori suspiciously.

Zoiki jumps up. "Why are you guys on my parents' estate?"

"We were studying Ranma's martial arts style as he was practicing and saw you and your goons kidnap Ranma."

Whoa, these host club guys must be good if I wasn't able to detect their presence in the park. "But, I don't need to be saved. Zoiki was in the process of letting me go."

Hani and Mori grab Ranma. "Escape! Escape!"

"Moe!"

...

Genma wakes up.

The boy must have wimped out and ran home with his tail between his legs. Genma walks back to his apartment.

Genma sees all of his belongings on the sidewalk. "What is going on?"

A small man approaches him. "You are three months behind on your rent. What do you think is going on?"

"Oh, that."

"You had better pay up what you owe or the police will throw you in jail!"

"I'll have the money by the end of the day."

...

Another piece of cake is shoved in front of Ranma.

"Look, guys. I really have to get home. My father was nearby when I was gassed, so I need to find out if he is okay."

Hani looks at him strange. "That fat guy is your dad?"

"Yeah. Unfortunately."

"Yes, you should look for your dad. Please don't let us hold you."

"Okay. But thanks for the tea and cake. I've never had cake that tasted like that before."

Hani smiles. "Your welcome. Maybe next time we can have the cake that you're used to then? I've always wanted to try peasant cake."

Peasant cake? Are these guys for real? But, I had better follow along so I can get out of here. "Okay."

...

Ranma arrives home.

"Son, I am ashamed that we were caught unaware today by that attack. Since you just graduated from Junior High School, I think we need to go on a training mission."

Wow! A way to get away from those weirdoes! "Sure!"

"We leave right now for," dramatic pause, "China!" Genma grabs his belongings and runs. Ranma runs after him, not realizing that the landlord and three police officers were just rounding the corner in the opposite direction.
