A/N: Hopefully folks can see this with the notifications down. ...I failed, I'm sorry. I just can't do it today. T_T

I tried to get Take the Girl ready for today, but there just wasn't enough time and I'm so bloody tired. Between arguing with my mechanic over the price of my car repairs, looking after my sister -I'm basically her glorified unpaid butler until she recovers- and a whole host of other problems I can't get into here, I'm strapped for time, cash, sanity, and health.

To be clear, writing helps preserve my sanity, but I've had so little time to do either since the start of June and its driving me mad. Heat wave isn't helping. Working seven days a week at two jobs wears on a man after a while, and I'm really starting to feel it.

So here we go. The fate of this story depends on you, the reader. Your feedback determines the fate of this tale, and many others. As ever, I own no quotes, references, themes or memes. Not a wit or one. They're tributes, one and all. I'm just a humble author trying to make his way in this wild world, one word at a time. Time and feedback will determine if this remains a story. Simple as that.

In other words...its up to YOU, the reader. Do let me know~!

So here, have this mashed up teaser for Take the Girl.

This is a mere TENTH of what I've written thus far.

Can't spoil too much:

"Someday, if you ever have a child...the first time you look them you get a feeling all at once, that you'd die for them. Little thing you never saw before, and you would stone cold die for them.

That feeling doesn't go away. You might forget, but it's always there...always there.

I want you to leave my daughter alone. Call it a day. For your sake.

~A Legend.

Brace the Girls (Teaser)

Ruby blinked quickly.

She had always been quick, ever since she first unlocked her semblance.

Hey, she was shy, not stupid. M'kay, portal, scary lady with one eye and...oooh!

"Is that a robot arm?"

Raven sighed. "Yes, yes it is."

Silver eyes sparkled. "Can I touch it?"

"Maybe. You coming or what?

No need to tell her twice. Ruby dove through the portal.

The next thing she saw were...faces. So very many faces!

And there among them...!

"Daddy!"

"Hey, sweetie. He swept her up into his arms and she snuggled close, happy to see him again after his absence.

Where's mommy?

She's sleeping.

The Scary Lady snorted. "Drunk, more like...

There was another man behind the Scary Lady, and he kinda looked like Daddy. Blue eyes and blond hair.

"Is that your brother? Oooh!" her eyes lit up. "Do I have another uncle?!"

For some reason Daddy made gagging noises.

Meet the family.

She looked out amongst the sea of unfamiliar faces. These people were related to her?! Brothers and sisters and siblngs oh my! Her mind sparked, fizzled, came roaring backt o life now.

"So you're the one everyone's making a fuss over. " A boy with orange hair and a top-hat grinned at her. "Nice to meet you, Red.

Ruby glared at him and puffed out her cheeks in a pout. "M'not called Red, I'm Ruby.

Roman shrugged. "Red cloak, so you're Red. Deal with it.

A faint crackle oof shattering glass was her only warning then she found herself face to face with a girl that was...almost shorter than her?! What the heck?!

"Oh, wow you're...ah... really close!

"Neo, no." Roman sighed. "Don't scare her.

Ruby stood on the very tips of her toe and patted her head. Goo girl. Oooh, I like her.

Cinder eyed her warily. You want to be come a huntress?

I'll be the very best! Like no one ever was.

No, you won't.

Ruby blinked. "Eh?

"Because we will."

Hey!"

"Wait, is that Ruby?!

A golden meteor barreled into her.

"RUBY!"

(...Rough, I know Have Mercy...)

What in the blue hell is this?!"

His scroll rang, and irked, Naruto picked it up.

Malachites voice rang through, supremely smug. "Hello, darling."

He made a face. Your girls are here.

So they are.

Did you send them?

I did, before your little stunt yesterday. The girls miss you.

He didn't deign to answer.

Don't they deserve to know their father.

We had a deal.

So we did.

You got me drunk.

Is that what you tell yourself? You were a rather willing participant as I recall.

If looks could kill, she would've been a smoldering pile of ashes by now. He glared heatedly into the receiver instead.

Let them see you. Be with them. Let them have their time in the sun. Because if you let them grow up in the shadows darling, I guarantee you they will learn to loathe the light.

He made an annoyed noise. She had a point. He'd been perfectly civil, but the fact remained that he didn't know how to talk to them.

Right, might as well get this out the way.

Hello, girls."

Their faces lit up. "Hello, sir."

"Don't call me that. You'll make me feel old.

Miltia peered past him. "No Yang today?

She's with her mother.

She's your favorite.

I have no favorites.

The twins -his girls!- made eager noises. "Can we be your favorites?"

His heart twitched.

Raven peered at the three of them through her portal from afar, lowered her blade and walked away.

Yang followed her, running to keep up. "Hey, mum."

Raven glanced at her progeny. Hmm?

"Dad's strong."

A nod. "He certainly is.

"Will I ever be that strong?"

Lies served no purpose here. "No.

Yang slumped at kicked at a stray pebbled. "Awww.

She was honest with her because she had to be.

"But you'll get close."

"How close?"

Real close. Now prepare yourself. Today, we'll teach you how to

Yang raised her fists with a grin. "Armed and ready!"

Raven clicked her tongue. "Not yet, you're not."

She dove at her daughter.

A/N: We'll cut it here. Don't wanna spoil too much.

Would you like an update next week? Do let me know! We'll be picking up the pace soon, but with the notifications down, I really need to hear from you here.

RWBY may have been canned by Warner Bros. but we fanfiction writers are out here trying to keep the light alive, as it were. So here we go. The fate of this story depends on you, the reader. Your feedback determines the fate of this tale, and many others.

So by all means, speak up! Raise your voice! Make yourself heard! Your reviews matter!

That's no joke! I can't write without feedback. Guess that makes me weak...T_T
