The arrival of the doe confirmed Olly's words ; in her work , she was required to take care of animals of all kinds . The inhabitants of the Island had rightly rejoiced at her arrival ; in her clinic , their furry , feathered or scaly friends received all the care they needed . In the days that followed , the Thea Sisters and their classmates assisted Olly in the most diverse emergencies , both in her office and outside . Alongside the veterinarian , the students helped a dog give birth , checked the health of a grazing herd , examined a family of hamsters and taught the young owner of an aquarium how to feed his fish properly . The Thea Sisters and their friends threw themselves headlong into this experience without allowing themselves a single moment of rest . In the rare moments when fatigue took over , the wagging of a dog's tail or the grateful look of his owner was enough to give them the energy they needed . The hours spent with Olly were thus very full and entertaining . They could even have been described as "perfect" , if it hadn't been for Vanilla... While all the other students tried to take the best care of Olly's boarders , Vanilla never missed an opportunity to complain about the work to be done . Moreover , she always managed to disappear when someone tried to give her a new task , big or small . Even the sympathy shown to her by the animals did not encourage her to help . That afternoon , the rich mouselet was , once again , determined to shirk . She was watching for the slightest opportunity to transform her hours of duty into long moments of idleness . But she didn't have to wait long . Nicky finished cleaning the consultation table .
Nicky : Olly , if it's okay with you , we'd like to go explore the woods where we found Comet .
Since the night of Halley's passage , the small group had started to scour the forest again in search of the young fox's family . Comet was indeed cured and ready to be free again . Olly was getting ready to go out to make some house calls .
Olly : Okay ! Although , there might be a problem...if you leave too , there would be no one to receive the delivery of the monthly supply of pharmaceutical products .
Paulina : In that case , we can postpone our search until tomorrow , and-
Vanilla : No need ! Alicia , Connie , Zoe and I will wait for the medicines , right , girls ?
The Vanilla Girls exchanged a puzzled look . But when they saw the sign of connivance that their friend was giving them , they quickly agreed . As soon as Olly and their friends had left .
Alicia : Thanks , Vanilla ! I prefer to stay at the clinic rather than go back to roaming the forest !
Vanilla : I have no intention of rotting here !
She took out four latest bikinis from her bag .
Vanilla : The first time we came , I noticed a lovely little lake near from here . Let's go and sunbathe there !
In the blink of an eye , the four girls put on their swimsuits and left the office , without even making sure to close the door . While the Thea Sisters returned to the clinic in Pamela's Jeep .
Paulina : Do you think we'll find Comet's mother ?
Until then , the young mouselet had not doubted it , but after this new fruitless search , she was starting to get discouraged . Colette put her arms around her shoulders .
Colette : Of course ! The forest is big , we just have to look better !
Nicky : Next time , we'll take Comet ! If her mother smells her , she'll come to us !
Parking in front of Olly's house .
Pamela : I'm sure the fox will follow her trail like me when I make a pizza...
Pamela stopped , she stared at the front door .
Pamela : Why is it open ?
They entered the clinic , which turned out to be deserted . Olly had not yet finished her visits and there was not a shadow of a Vanilla Girl . Worst , Comet had disappeared , her enclosure was empty . When Roni , Shen , Tanya , Craig , Vic and Dina also returned from the woods , they all combed the establishment . But the young fox was not hiding in the consultation room or in the courtyard among the other animals .
Violet : She must have run away !
Vanilla bursts out with Connie , Zoe and Alicia .
Vanilla : Who ?
Nicky : Comet ! Where were you ? Weren't you supposed to be on duty ?
Vanilla : Actually , we went... uh... well , we went to get the carrots for Larry , Moe and Oskar !
Pamela : Oh yeah ? Where are they ? And why did you take your swimsuits ?
Paulina : Enough ! We have no time to lose , we have to get our paws on Comet !
The Thea Sisters , Roni , Shen , Craig , Dina , Vic and Tanya scattered around the surrounding area , looking for any clue that could put them on the trail of the animal . And their application paid off . In the bushes bordering a clearing , Nicky found the ball with which a path through the shrubs , the young fox herself , who was looking fearfully all around her . Colette hastened to wrap her in a blanket to take her back to the office .
Colette : Oh , ma petite chérie... You went out to play and got lost , didn't you ?
But Comet wasn't the only one in trouble in the area . As the group turned around , Violet stopped to listen .
Violet : Wait ! Do you hear that noise ?
The others strained their ears and , after a few moments , heard a faint flap , flap , flap . By concentrating , they managed to detect the source of the sound , and discovered with surprise that it came from a magnificent parrot with yellow , blue and green feathers . The bird , which was standing on the ground , was moving only one wing , and still with difficulty . Clearly , it could no longer fly .
