Asuna yawned as she walked to the kitchen with Iruma in her arms. It's been six months since she came to the Netherworld, and today is the first time she slept in past six in the morning. When she got up, the clock read eight and she saw a note from Kalego telling her he made breakfast, and she just needs to heat it up. He also took time to feed Iruma before he left for work.
Asuna looked down at her son and gave him a smile despite her sleepiness as he dozed off in her arms. Though he's only six months old, he still remains small and dependent on his mother and father.
Upon arriving in the kitchen, she immediately opened the fridge and saw the premade breakfast waiting for her, as she pulled the plastic-wrapped plate off the middle shelf, her blue eyes caught sight of the bento box she made the previous night. Setting the plate on the counter beside the fridge, she took the lunch box out and frowned.
"He forgot his lunch." Asuna said as she glanced at the clock and saw it was currently 8:23am. Kalego normally takes his lunch between eleven and twelve. She took out her blue hellphone, a gift from Kalego, but paused before she could hit the call button. Classes have already begun right now, if she were to call him in the middle of his lessons, it would only hinder Kalego.
Asuna frowned as she pocketed her phone as she stared at the bento box for a long time in contemplation. After five minutes of pondering, she nodded to herself, "No other choice then." She looked down at her son who has already awakened at this point and watched his mother. "We're going to school today."
With Iruma strapped to her front, a diaper bag on her back, and the bento box in her right hand, Asuna set out for Babylus. After six months of living in the Netherworld and memorizing the map that gave her the direct route to Babylus on foot, she was able to find the school with very little problem.
"There it is, the Demon School Babylus." Asuna said as she stood there marveling at the structure, it truly is a sight to behold. She nodded to herself as she resumed her journey.
She entered through the front entrance and looked around until she found a map. She stared at it for a long time as she memorized the routes before she followed the path leading to her intended destination. Asuna paused when she got to a hallway and couldn't figure out whether to go left or right.
"Are you a new student?"
Asuna turned and was met with a young first year student who stared in surprise when she saw a baby in the woman's arms.
"Not exactly. I'm trying to find the Teachers' Offices." Asuna explained as she smiled politely while holding Iruma close to her in his carrier.
The young student stared at the baby wide-eyed and in awe at the cute sleeping face before she pointed in the direction, "Down that hall and make a right. You'll see a sign above the door."
Asuna nodded, "Thank you." She said before she followed the student's instruction.
The young demoness watched her leave and couldn't help but feel flustered. "Beautiful."
Asuna stood in front of the door to the Teacher's Lounge and knocked. When she heard someone say 'come in' she opened the door and entered. Several teachers turned and were not expecting a young woman to appear with a baby attached to her.
Asuna breathed calmly as she greeted them with a smile, "Hi, I'm sorry to bother you, but is Kalego here?" She held up the bento box, "He left this at home."
One of the teachers with brown hair and two horns approached her, "Are you Asuna?"
"Um, yes."
He held out a hand to her, "I'm Professor Dantalion Dali, it's nice to finally meet." He introduced himself with that smile that made him look like a kid who found a new toy.
Asuna shook his hand, "Suzuki Asuna. This is Iruma." She introduced her still sleeping son.
Dali's eyes dilated as he got a closer look at the infant, "Wow, he's cuter than in the pictures."
Asuna sighed as she knew what he was talking about, unfortunately Sullivan can never stop bragging about his new daughter and grandson. While she did agree to allow Sullivan to be Iruma's grandfather, she can't remember agreeing to become his daughter as well. But if there's one thing she learned is not to bother correcting the old man, it's not worth her energy.
"Dali, you better not be flirting with a student." A man with a scar on his cheek and prominent nose warned from his desk as he glanced their way.
"Uh, technically I'm 28." Asuna laughed sheepishly; this is the second time today where someone mistook her for a teenage. She cursed her small frame and skin for not catching up with her age. She had hoped the demons here would be graceful enough not to make that blunder as well.
"What? No way, you look so cute!" A dark-haired succubus dressed in a revealing outfit appeared beside her, startling Asuna. "What's your secret?"
"I can't take credit, it's genetic." Asuna sweatdropped as she leaned away from the demoness.
"I'm Professor Raim, I teach Seduction classes for young aspiring demonesses." Raim introduced herself as she gave Asuna a seductive look.
"Really now." Asuna said as she hid her nervousness with a smile, 'What kind of school teaches young girls how to attract perverts?!'
Iruma began to wake up and was greeted by the sight of demons he has never seen before.
Raim and Dali went awe at the sight.
"What a beautiful baby boy. He's going to charm all the ladies with those eyes alone." Raim cooed as more teachers gathered to get a peek at the little wonder.
Asuna could not help but feel a hint of pride at the praise her son received. "You're too kind Professor Raim."
Before she realized it, Asuna was sitting on one of the couches surrounded by the teachers as they fawned over her baby. 'How did I get here?' Asuna wondered as one of the instructors, Suzy Stolas sat beside her and produced an exotic flower in her hand. Iruma made excited sounds at the sight of the beautiful flower.
"Such a delightful boy you are. Yis." Suzy smiled before she made the flower petals scatter around the baby, giving him a show before they disappeared.
Asuna smiled at the display and at her son's happiness, "He likes it." She said as she held her baby tenderly in her lap.
Blushenko had tears in his eyes at the sight of the baby, "So pure, and so innocent." He sniffled as he rubbed his eyes with his sleeve, "You and Kalego are truly blessed with such a wonderful child, completely untainted by the Netherworld." The stoic teacher was reduced to tears by the very essence of the child.
Asuna laughed softly, "Untainted, yes. But I believe this child will be the one who shall taint the Netherworld in an extraordinary way." She said, her eyes gleaming with a maternal love and pride for her son.
Orias grinned as he sat beside the mother, being next to her, he could smell something sweet and alluring radiating off of her, "Sounds like something to see." He tilted his head at the baby, "You're gonna cause quite a stir, aren't you?"
Momonoki stood behind the opposite couch as she watched Asuna and Iruma. She too received a picture of them from the Chairdemon. One look at that photo, it was understandable why Kalego would be attracted to her. But seeing her in person, she could hardly believe that such a beautiful woman actually existed. The aura she gives off and the maternal glow that surrounds her made her look ethereal. Loathe as she is to admit, she feels envious of Asuna, yet can't find the will to dislike her.
Asuna looked up at the woman with silver-blue hair and matching eyes staring at her with a discerning expression. "Is something wrong?" She asked curiously as the other woman blushed for being caught staring.
Momonoki waved her hands in front of her, "No, no, it's nothing. I'm sorry for staring. Totally rude."
"That's alright, I forgive you." Asuna looked around the teacher's lounge, "I heard a lot about this school from Kalego and Lord Sullivan."
"Really? I hope it meets your expectations." Dali said from across from Asuna as he leaned back in the cushions.
Asuna shrugged, "Well, I only saw a couple parts of it on the way here. Wasn't sure what to expect as this is the first time I've ever been inside a high school."
This caught the teachers' attention. "Wait, you never went to demon school?" Momonoki asked as Asuna blushed in embarrassment for her folly.
"Yeah, my greatest shame and regret." A rueful smile appeared on her face as she looked at her son, "I wanted to go, but my father never believed in educating women." She gave the teachers a reassuring smile, "Kalego is kind enough to help me catch up, so it's not that bad."
The teachers glanced at each other in quiet shock. They never expected Kalego's mate to be denied an education by her own parent. This must be new territory for the young mother.
Dali then had an idea, one that would stir things up and possibly anger Kalego. "How would you like a tour of Babylus?"
Asuna blinked twice, "I'm sorry?"
Dali grinned, "For one day, we'll give you a tour of our beloved school grounds. Even if you're not a student, it'd be a good experience. Plus, you can see firsthand the kind of school your son will one day attend in fourteen years."
Asuna looked hesitant, "I'm not sure, I wouldn't want to intrude on your classes."
"Nonsense, we're happy to have you here." Dali said with a reassuring smile, "Besides, don't you want to see more of the place Kalego works in?"
Asuna hummed, "I am curious, he has spoken about the school a great deal from his time as a student and as a teacher. But I fear he'll be very cross with me if I suddenly wander the grounds." She stated, knowing protective the man is over her and Iruma's well-being.
"Don't worry, we'll take the blame if he becomes angry. Yis." Suzy Stolas waved off her concerns with an easy smile which Asuna returned.
The blue haired beauty contemplated their offer for a long moment before nodding to herself, "Okay, why not?"
Dali immediately pulled out a small flag with the word 'tour' on it. "If you will follow me Ms. Suzuki." He said with enthusiasm as he and Suzy guided her out of the Teacher's Offices.
The lunch Kalego forgot sat upon his desk.
Asuna was shown around the school as Professors Dali and Stolas gave her the tour and explained the structures.
Asuna listened with rapt enthusiasm as she explored this new territory. She held Iruma close to her as the tour took them all over the school. They lingered in the library where Asuna's eyes sparkled at the multitude of books and the spells written in them. She was tempted to pull one off the shelf and give it a look but steeled herself as she followed the professors.
They soon found themselves in the underground part of the school.
"And here is where we have Execution Cannonball. It's basically a game where two teams go up against each other and try to take their opponents out with a ball." Dali explained as he guided the young mother down the steps to observe the game going on between the students.
'So it's dodgeball.' Asuna surmised as she saw the students play the game, though it looked extreme with how they use spells to launch the ball around and make craters within the arena. All of a sudden, the ball came straight at them. As though in slow motion, Asuna watched as the ball came closer before raising her hand up.
'POM!'
Asuna caught the projectile with one hand while cradling her son in her other arm.
Students and teachers froze when they saw how she effortlessly caught the ball with hardly a look of hinderance.
"Whoa, nice catch, and with one hand." Dali praised the young woman.
Asuna shrugged, "Three years playing this sport. Reflexes never left me." She bounced the ball in her hand before tossing it towards one of the male students with a single horn in the middle of his forehead.
"Oh crap, I'm really sorry about that Miss. Is the baby okay?" Another student with who looked amphibious with his lavender complexion came over with a panicked expression.
Asuna held up a hand to stop him, "That's quite alright, my son is fine. It's my fault for being in the wrong place at the wrong time." She assured him as she gave the students a gentle smile, "I commend you for your enthusiasm and spirit for this game. Well done."
The students blushed at the lovely smile that literally lit up her beautiful face. The student who held the ball dropped it and grasped her hand in both of his, "Will you wait for me until I graduate?" He asked, his blush deepened as he felt his heartbeat erratically in his chest. How can a woman be this beautiful?
Asuna blinked, "Eh?"
Dali pulled the student away, breaking his hold on Asuna's hand. "You really don't wanna do that. That baby in her arms is Kalego's." He warned the student, shattering his dreams in the process. The young demon wept while his amphibious friend patted him on the back.
"Will he be alright?" Asuna asked as she watched the crying student.
"He's fine, these kids bounce back." Dali assured her before he and Suzy guided her out of the cavern.
They showed her the cafeteria where they explained how each rank allows a student a certain variety of food, and the little shop run by the little demon Camu Camu. Next, they showed her the classrooms and Battlers, which were basically clubs, then the field reserved for Familiar Training. Asuna watched at a safe distance as students trained alongside their familiars of various shapes and sizes. She marveled at the beauty within each of them and how they reflect their masters.
Iruma squirmed around as his blue eyes were directed at something in the distance. "What's wrong Iruma?" She followed his line of sight until she saw a building with various locks and chains on the massive gates with a single rope in front. She ignored the teachers and decided to sate her son's curiosity as she walked towards the building until she stood in front of the heavily locked gates.
Asuna held her son close as they looked up at the imposing gargoyles on either side of the entrance. Iruma reached his pudgy hand toward the gate, making enquiring sounds.
"What do you sense in there Iruma? Is there something inside that calls to you?" Asuna whispered to her baby who watched the gate with certainty.
"Ms. Suzuki!" Dali and Suzy jogged up to her before she turned to them. "Please don't wander off, otherwise, Kalego will have my horns." Dali told her, out of breath as he stood beside Asuna.
Asuna gave them an apologetic look, "Sorry about that. Iruma got curious about this building, so we decided take a look." She glanced up at the building, "What is this place?"
The teachers glanced at each other before Suzy Stolas explained, "This is Royal One, the classroom which the Demon King attended many centuries ago. It is a historic relic which students and teachers are forbidden from entering."
Asuna turned to them in surprise, "Never?"
The teachers shook their heads, "Never."
Asuna had a look of disappointment on her face then sighed, "I see. That's a shame." She looked up at the building, "To stand on school grounds, but to never be a part of Babylus. To be robbed of its purpose all so they can end up as museum display." A rueful smile crawled onto her face, "A tragic fate when you look at it that way."
Dali nodded, "Yeah, it's a real shame. Many would give up their wings just to walk the same halls as the Demon King. But it would take someone with a massive number of guts to get this place to open."
Iruma never took his blue eyes off the building.
Asuna hummed, "So it would seem." She looked down at her son who was still enthralled by the gate, "I'm sorry Iruma, but we are all forbidden from setting foot on sacred ground here." She softly said to Iruma before she followed after the teachers back to the main building.
"Here we have the Diabotany Tower, this is Professor Stolas' domain." Dali introduced as they found themselves surrounded by various plants.
Asuna smiled as she took in the flora, "It's lovely in here."
Suzy delighted in her compliment, "That is most kind of you, Yis. Here we study the plant life that grows in the Netherworld. From carnivorous to medicinal, it is important to learn how nature can be both ally and adversary if one wishes to survive the Netherworld." She explained as Asuna and Iruma listened intently.
Asuna hummed as she and Iruma glanced around at the classroom, "Beauty and danger within nature. The Netherworld is truly a marvel once you know where to look and how to harness its attributes."
Dali and Suzy smiled at how enthralled Asuna is with the classroom, a peaceful and loving countenance on her beautiful face. They also saw a thirst to learn, a desire to know the secrets of this world.
An idea sparked inside Suzy's head, "How would you like to have your first Diabotany lesson?"
Asuna turned to them in surprise, "You mean, right now?"
Suzy nodded, "Why not? I have two more hours until my next class. Yis."
Asuna contemplated the offer for a moment before she nodded, "Very well then Professor Stolas, I am in your care." She said with confidence within her gentle demeanor. The more she learns of the Netherworld, the better prepared she'll be in the future.
Iruma made sounds as though to repeat her words as her feelings echoed through him.
The teachers chuckled before Suzy began her instruction. Asuna listened intently, keeping her focus solely on what Suzy was saying. Iruma fell asleep in her arms halfway through and was breathing peacefully.
"Little pup is asleep." Dali quietly said as he covered his mouth to stifle his giggles.
Asuna smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry for him, falling asleep on your lessons is unbecoming of a student."
Suzy waved off her apology, "We'll let this one slide. Yis."
Dali then had an idea, "Hey Suzy, why not show her a beginner level spell for growing flowers?"
This caused Asuna to tense up.
"That's a great idea, one second." Suzy left to get a flowerpot ready.
"Um, Professor Dali, are you sure that's okay? I've never really been great at spells as far as I know." Asuna said with a hint of worry, and she had plenty to worry about considering her humanity.
"Hey, don't worry about what you can't do, just give it your best." Dali assured her with an encouraging smile, one that made it hard for her to say no to.
Suzy returned with two flowerpots and set them on the worktable. "Now then, I'll show you how to make flowers bloom. Just place your hand over the special sapling and say 'Quan-Quan.'" And just like that, Suzy sprouted a beautiful and exotic flower before them.
"How lovely." Asuna exclaims in wonder.
"The best technique is to clearly envision what the flower should look like in your mind." Suzy advised as she took a step back to observe.
Asuna stood in front of the sapling nestled within the flowerpot, a frown of confusion and self-doubt on her face. She glanced down at Iruma who began to stir and opened his eyes slowly. "Hey Iruma, what kind of flower shall we grow?" She softly asked her son with that same gentle smile.
Iruma made incoherent babbles as he spoke to his mother.
Asuna smiled then turned back to the sapling, she closed her eyes as she remembered the cherry blossom trees in full bloom. Those petals were the only thing she missed from the human world as they were only around for a fleeting moment to give her comfort. They were her mother and grandfather's favorite flowers, a reminder of a happier times. She takes a deep breath, keeping the cherry blossom trees in her mind as her hand hovered over the sapling and whispered, "Quan-Quan."
Asuna opened her eyes and gave it a smile of sad acceptance, "I suppose it wasn't meant to happen."
Then the flowerpot began to shake, causing Asuna to step back. "Professor Stolas?" She glanced at the teacher who watched with an intrigued expression as the sapling started to glow. Then tree branches exploded from the sapling, growing at an extraordinarily fast pace as it extended towards the sky and destroyed the roof of the Diabotany Tower.
Asuna was disoriented as she opened her eyes to find herself cradled in the branches of a very large cherry blossom tree. She gasped as she looked down at Iruma to see him reaching his hands out to catch the falling pink petals. He was giggling in delight at the sight of his mother's creation.
"Professor Dali, Professor Stolas?" She looked around and saw the two teachers tangled in some of the branches. "Gah! Are you okay?" She exclaimed as she held onto the nearest branch to steady herself.
"Um, yeah, I'm alright." Dali said with a dizzying look in his eyes.
"This is truly a beautiful flower Ms. Suzuki, A+." Suzy said despite her delirium.
"Asuna!"
The human mother turned to see Kalego land on the tree in front of her, his face sweaty and panicked as he tried to catch his breath.
"Professor Kalego." Asuna greeted in embarrassment, "Um, you see, I can explain."
Once Kalego had enough breath to speak, he asked, "Did you...make this?"
Asuna looked around at the massive tree they were in, "Uh...yeah."
At the Naberius house, Iruma was napping peacefully in his room while the adults sat in the common room to discuss recent events.
The only one who is taking this lightly is the Chairdemon. "Oh my, that was quite a spectacle my dear girl. Truly marvelous indeed!" Sullivan praised Asuna who sat beside Kalego, blushing in embarrassment over what happened at the school.
After the cherry blossom destroyed the Diabotany Tower, Kalego took Dali and Suzy aside and scolded them for thirty minutes for not contacting him about Asuna's presence and taking her around the school where rambunctious demons lurked about. Turned out Kalego overheard one of the students talk about a beautiful woman with a baby on school grounds. He immediately questioned them who told him the woman went to the Teacher's Offices. Then he learned from Orias who informed him how Asuna came to drop off his lunch before Dali and Suzy took her on a tour around the school. The Guard Dog ran around campus trying to catch up to Asuna. Finding her just in time to see that cherry blossom tree sprout through the windows of the tower for all to see.
"I am so sorry. I'll pay for the damages." Asuna told the demons, ashamed of how she caused all that destruction by accident.
Opera returned from the kitchen and poured the Asuna some tea to calm her down. "Don't fret over that, none of it was intentional." They assured her before they stood beside the Chairdemon.
Asuna stared at her cup with a frown, "That was Professor Stolas' classroom though. She must be very cross at me now."
Balam spoke up, "Actually, Suzy's very delighted by the newest addition to her class. Many of the teachers and students find the flower quite enchanting and soothing to be around. They even have lunch underneath the blossoms." He said as he felt the awe and wonder at the beauty Asuna brought to the Netherworld.
Kalego's arms were folded over his chest as a look of contemplation etched onto his face. "I think the biggest question here is how Asuna was able to even grow a tree that big."
Asuna's eyes widened as she tried to make sense of it as well. "I didn't even know I could do something like that." She turned to Sullivan, "You said that humans aren't supposed use magic or have mana. How-How is this even possible?" She stuttered as she tried to comprehend this this discovery.
Balam hummed as he held his chin, his eyes pondering as he watched the coffee table.
Kalego noticed his ally's expression. "Do you have any theories, Shichiro?" He enquired as Balam is the only scientist in this room who has studied the biology of mythical humans.
"Just one." Balam said as he glanced at the only female in the room, "Asuna, while you were pregnant with Iruma, did you experience any changes that weren't consistent with humans?"
Asuna blinked as she thought about his question. "Well, there was this one time when I was reaching the end of the first trimester. Honestly, that time was pretty hazy and I'm not sure if it did happen." She held her forehead as she concentrated on the memories of her captivity while pregnant. "One day, my brother stumbled into my cell, he was in one of those moods and needed me to...relieve him."
Kalego grasped her hand when she shuddered, letting her know that it's okay not to say anymore. Asuna took a deep breath and exhaled, "He didn't want to damage his merchandise inside me. So, he settled with trying to make me serve him by other means. I didn't want to. He began to choke me. I pushed him...Or I think I did. Next thing I knew he was flying across the room into the wall." She explained as she began to remember small details from her captivity. "I didn't even put that much strength into it, but he stopped bothering me for those services."
Balam nodded as she finished telling them. "That may have been because your unborn son was sharing his mana with you."
"What do you mean by that Professor Balam?" Sullivan asked, worried and concerned for his surrogate daughter.
"The reason why you now have mana is due to the pregnancy." Balam began to explain, "When Iruma was conceived, a bit of Kalego's mana was passed into your womb. As the baby grew, so did his mana. Which your body adapted to and began to absorb without you realizing. When you were in danger, you unconsciously activated the mana to protect yourself and the baby." He paused for a moment then added, "Even after you gave birth, your body still carried the energy. You may have also absorbed the mana in the Netherworld without knowing. That's why you released an abundant amount when you made that flower."
Silence followed Balam's explanation as everyone absorbed this piece of information.
"So, what you're saying is, the mana that's originally inside of me came from Iruma? From Kalego?" She glanced at the father of her child who digested this idea.
"It's as good a theory as any. The only one in fact. But either way, whether it's true or false, one thing is clear; you are now capable of using magic." Kalego stated as he locked eyes with Asuna. "You've been here for six months now, and you've studied the fundamentals of magic but never practiced it because we were all under the belief that it was impossible for you until now."
Asuna blinked as she realized where Kalego was getting at. "Wait, does this mean I can practice spells now?"
Kalego nodded, "That's right. However, you need to control your mana first before you start casting magic. That display at the Diabotany Tower is proof of how volatile your mana can be if left unchecked."
Asuna looked away with a blush, "Right."
"Don't be so down on yourself Asuna." Sullivan assured her, "This just means your chances of living in the Netherworld has increased significantly. And don't worry, each of us will help you control your mana. You're already an excellent student, so I don't doubt you will succeed in your lessons."
A smile came onto Asuna's face at the idea of learning something new. "I will do my best Chairdemon." She declared, feeling a little more confident in herself.
After Sullivan, Opera and Balam left, Asuna prepared dinner for her and Kalego for the evening.
Kalego came downstairs with Iruma in his arms after giving him a fresh diaper. He entered the dining area as Asuna set plates onto the table.
After setting Iruma down in his playpen, the parents began to eat.
"Hey, um, Kalego?" Asuna began after the prolonged silence, "Are you still mad at me?" She asked after a moment's hesitation. Ever since the cherry blossom tree, he seems to be in a foul mood.
"Hm? No, of course not. Why do you think I'm mad at you?" Kalego asked as he paused in eating.
"Because I came to Babylus without notifying you." Asuna frowned, "I only wanted to drop off your lunch. I never expected your coworkers to give me a tour."
"You could have said 'no.' Why didn't you?" Kalego asked, curious about what went on through Asuna's head when she visited the school.
Asuna looked down at her plate, "They were all so kind and welcoming towards me and Iruma. It's exactly how I imagined schoolteachers to be like. Never mind the fact they're literal demons." A rueful smile graced her lips, "To be honest, I wanted to see what Babylus is like first-hand since..." She swallowed, "...since I never got that experience like your students." She glanced over at Iruma who was content to roll around in his little fortress. "Also, I want Iruma to see the place where his family works and will one day attend years from now."
Kalego silently listened before he bowed his head, "I understand."
Asuna glanced at Kalego in surprise.
"You were robbed of the chance to have the high school experience like everyone else. Naturally you wanted to explore the environment." He let out a sigh, "Let me make one thing clear. I was never mad at you. If anything, I was terrified at the very thought of my coworkers dragging you and Iruma around with a horde of rabid students around." He grumbled to himself as he recalled one student who came from Execution Cannonball brag about how he will one day marry the beautiful blue-haired mother the second he graduates. Kalego did not take it well and assigned him detention.
Asuna smiled, "Dali and Suzy are quite gracious tour guides. They're great and trustworthy comrades to have around. Surely you can cut them a little slack."
Kalego hummed, "I'll think about it. Tell me though, how do you like Babylus?"
Asuna breathed out a laugh, "It certainly isn't boring, and Iruma had so much fun seeing new things. His favorite is Royal One. Poor boy wanted to see the inside of the classroom where the Demon King once inhabited."
Kalego smiled slightly, "I'm afraid he'll be waiting a long time. Not even the Thirteen Crowns can enter that place."
Asuna glanced over at Iruma gumming on a blanket, "That's a shame, Iruma was so enthralled by it."
Kalego froze behind his desk in the Teachers' Office when he saw Asuna and little Iruma enter with a basket full of muffins of every variety.
The teachers gathered at the aroma of freshly baked goods.
"Asuna, you're back. We feared mean ol' Kalego locked you away from us." Dali joked, earning a glare from the Guard Dog of Babylus.
"Hey!" Kalego exclaimed as he paused from grading papers.
Asuna laughed softly as she held her wide awake son close to her with one arm as she set the basket on the coffee table.
"Forgive my untimely arrival. After that little mishap, I want to apologize." Asuna turned to Suzy and bowed her head, "I'm terribly sorry for what happened at the Diabotany Tower. You were kind and gracious to give me a lesson, and I ruined your classroom. I hope you'll forgive me."
Suzy smiled as she clasped her hands in front of her, "No need to apologize dear. Now the tower can finally live up to its name. Your gorgeous flower. Yis." Suzy praised Asuna for the gift she had given her. Despite the mess, the magnificent tree stood proud for all of Babylus to see.
Asuna straightened herself, still looking guilty, "Still. I feel terrible for the disaster I caused."
"What's it called, by the way? It looks and smells amazing." Orias asked as he took a muffin from the basket, only for it to be snatched by Dali.
"It's a cherry blossom tree." Asuna smiled as she ran her fingers through Iruma's hair, "My mother used to make food and medicine out of the petals like tea or skincare."
This caught Professor Raim and Balam's attention as they stood beside Suzy.
"Skincare, you say?" Raim asked with a seductive look.
"What medicinal properties does cherry blossom have?" Balam eagerly asked for scientific purposes.
"Oh, it's mainly anti-inflammatory and antibacterial." Asuna then went on to explain the process and medicinal properties of the flower to the teachers who listened with fascination.
Kalego watched how at ease Asuna is around his coworkers and how the teachers are happy to have her around. She's even sharing knowledge from her world.
Dali slid up beside Kalego and offered him a muffin. "She's a keeper alright. Never knew a woman like that can exist." He stated with an appraising look as he watched Asuna's movements.
"Neither did I." Kalego said as he tried to keep his cool around his former mentor.
Dali smirked, "I know she's the mother of your adorable son, but if you don't make your claim over her clear for everyone to see, someone will steal her. She is a rare jewel among gems after all." He whispered, causing the man to glare a very clear warning towards the teacher.
Dali pulled away and held his arms up in surrender, "Hey, I'm not gonna push my luck. I like living."
Kalego grumbled, not trusting his coworker before he took a bite out of the muffin Asuna made.
Asuna is branching out and making new friends in the Netherworld. After being holed up for six months, it's high time for her forge friendships. I always love the idea of Asuna learning something new about herself, and having mana courtesy of the pregnancy was a total bonus for her.
