I woke up on Bonnie's couch. I couldn't believe that I had slept over at a girl's house. It was kind of weird especially since we hadn't really done anything. We were just friends. Anyway, I noticed that it was 6:00 am and realized that I should probably get home. I still had time to eat and take a shower before school. As far as I knew, Bonnie wasn't up yet, so I quietly put my shoes on and snuck out the door.
I walked into the house and was met at the door.
"So, you would be the daughter, I assume." A man declared. I was pretty sure that I knew exactly who he was. He was Stefan's evil brother.
"Who are you?" I questioned.
"I'm Damon, your very great uncle." He explained. "I'm sure that you met my brother. So, what are you doing sneaking into the house so early in the morning?"
"I had a late night. Now if you excuse me, I need to ready for school." I told him with a blush. I didn't know why I was blushing when I really hadn't done anything that I should be ashamed of. I just slept over at a friend's house. I realized that I should probably be afraid of him since he was a murderous vampire.
I headed to my room and took a shower. I didn't have as much time as I would to pick out an outfit, so I grabbed one of the first things that I found and that happened to be a blue sleeveless sundress. I sighed and put it on after putting on my bra and panties. I then walked into the kitchen.
"Don't you look pretty this morning." Damon commented. I jumped a little. It seemed like he had the tendency to be everywhere. "You know I can't help but think that we're going to have a lot of fun together. So how about we make a deal right now? I won't kill you if you don't try to kill me."
"Bite me." I declared. At that point, I realized that those were words that you should never say to a vampire. He made me feel uncomfortable, but I was pretty sure that he was doing that on purpose.
"Well, if you're offering." He responded. I couldn't help but wonder if there was some way that I could fight him. "I'm definitely going to have fun with you."
"I'm going to school." I announced. I was probably a good idea to get away from him.
As soon as I got to school, I figured that it would probably be a good idea to check on my friends. Even though they weren't really the friends that I expected, it was still good to have them. I hoped that Bonnie wouldn't be mad at me for leaving without telling her. However, the first person that I ran into was Caroline, who seemed to be oddly chipper for someone who had drank as much as she had.
"You seem to not be hungover." I commented.
"I saw this most superhot hottie last night at the Grill." She gushed. That seemed a little redundant. Also, when did that happen? I wasn't paying the most attention, but I was pretty sure that there wasn't anyone there could be considered a hot guy. "So, what did you do?"
"I spent the night at Bonnie's house." I explained. "Have you seen her yet?"
"No." She answered. "So did you two get freaky with each other?"
"No…" I responded with a bright blush. Somehow, she had made me feel even more uncomfortable than Damon did, even though I was pretty sure that she was joking. I hadn't told her about my crush yet. I was pretty sure that it would always be awkward to tell a friend that you had a crush on another friend, especially since you weren't sure if they would keep it a secret. I didn't know Caroline well enough to be sure that she would.
I decided that it would be a good idea to talk to Elena about what had happened with Stefan. I was curious about what they had done together. I noticed Stefan at home, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went to see her again. I first noticed that she was talking to Matt about Vicki. Matt was Elena's ex-boyfriend who was also Vicki's younger brother. He was also the school's quarterback. I didn't know if he was a good quarterback or if he was any better than I had been, but I knew that I couldn't be quarterback now, not because I was girl but because I wasn't even sure if I would be able to throw over my own linemen.
"So did you talk to Stefan last night?' I asked her.
"Yeah, he came over because he wanted to make sure that I was okay." She replied.
"He did?" I responded.
"We didn't have sex." She told me. "In fact, we didn't kiss either. We just talked for a little while before he went home. I'm surprised that he didn't tell you about it."
"I didn't really have time to talk to him this morning. I stayed over at Bonnie's last night and went home really early.
"So how much did you drink last night?" She asked.
"Not as much. I was kind of afraid that if I had too much, something would happen." I admitted. Though I was pretty sure that the vampires would be worse than rapists. "So what do you think about Stefan?"
Before she could answer, the bell rang.
"I need to get to class." She answered. I did hope that I hadn't done anything that would cause them not to get together. I also realized that I should probably get to class myself.
One thing that I realized was that Mr. Tanner actually made Mr. Schue look competent as a teacher. As a Glee Club coach, he was great, but as an educator, well you can't get much worse when you don't speak the language that you're teaching, unless you're Mr. Tanner. He seemed
"Ms. Salvatore, why don't you tell us about the comet?" He asked. I was not expecting to be called upon in class. It was a good thing that I had been paying attention. I wasn't sure why we were learning about a comet in History. I did notice that the curriculum focused a lot on local history.
"Let's see it was last 145 years ago during the Battle of Mystic Falls." I answered. I was pretty sure that was what it called.
"It was the Battle of Willow Creek." He replied. I blushed. I would have to try to remember that. I wanted to try to do well in school, which meant that I might have needed to study the local history. In Lima no one cared about local history, but I supposed that they hadn't had anything notable happen there. I didn't know how consequential the battle was to the overall war, but it was still notable.
I ended up going to the Grill after school with Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie. We were seated outside because it was a pretty nice day.
"So, my grandma says that the comet is a harbinger of doom." Bonnie stated. Had the two of them talked in the morning after I left, or had it been some other time? "Last time it was here, there was a lot of death."
"Wasn't that the same night as the war battle?" Elena asked. Yeah, those tended to have a lot of death. I didn't think that a comet itself could cause many people to die, but I did wonder if there was more than just a war at foot considering the show that we were in.
"Well, your Grams needs to lay off the sauce." Caroline stated before she turned to Elena. "So, what happened with Stefan?"
"Nothing we just talked all night." Elena explained with a blush.
"Really, no sloppy first kiss or ill-advised hookup?" Caroline pressed.
"No." Elena responded.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Caroline asked me. "This hot guy likes you and you need to stake your claim before someone else does. It's simple. Boy likes girl, girl likes boy: sex."
"Profound." Elena declared as she got up.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Caroline's right." She responded. "It's simple. If I don't do this, I'll regret it."
I then realized she was going to my house and there was a possibility that Damon could be at my house and if she was going to meet him, I needed to be there to make sure that he didn't do anything.
"I'll come with you." I volunteered. "It's my house anyway."
We went to my house, which was I wasn't sure if I had ever brought Elena to or not. I didn't know how long we were supposed to have been friends. Suddenly a crow flew through the house. Why did we leave the windows open? At that point, we found ourselves face-to-face with Damon. He smiled at her.
"Elena, this is my…cousin Damon." She responded. That wasn't Stefan was supposed to be, and he was Stefan's brother, so that would make Damon my 'cousin' too.
"You didn't mention another cousin." I stated.
"We're not close." Damon answered. That was an understatement. "So, you must be Elena. Please come."
He led us to the living room.
"Wow, your house is so big." Elena responded. Maybe she hadn't ever been okay before. Maybe I was the type of girl who didn't invite friends over.
"I take it you've never had friends over." Damon commented. "It's a bit kitschy for my taste. I can see why Stefan's so smitten. It's about time. I thought he'd never get over the last one."
"Last one?" She questioned. I had a feeling that he was talking about Katherine.
"Katherine, his girlfriend?" Damon remarked before I shrugged to make it seem like I didn't know what he was talking about. "Oh, I take it you haven't had the whole awkward exes part yet. Well, it's bound to come up now."
"Do you have somewhere else to be, Damon?" I questioned. I wanted to get her away from him as soon as possible without being weird.
"Where else would I be than with my favorite cousin?" He replied. It seemed like he was going to act like an annoying older sibling to me. "Hello, Stefan."
"Elena, I didn't know that you were coming over." Stefan remarked.
"I let her in." I stated. At that moment, no one said anything. It felt like you could cut the tension between the brothers with a knife. I hoped that Stefan wouldn't be mad at me for bringing her over.
"I should break out the family photos. I have some cute pictures of these two as kids." Damon lied. I couldn't help but wonder if there were some pictures of me as a kid, even though I knew that there wouldn't be any of Stefan. I was pretty sure that the camera wasn't even invented back then.
"Thank you for stopping by." Stefan declared. That was his way of saying 'Please get out of my house.'
"Okay, I should probably get going." She replied before I noticed Stefan was in her way. "I need to use the door."
He got out of the way, and she left, I assumed to go home.
"Great gal, she seems smart." Damon remarked. Stefan didn't look amused. "You on the other hand look exhausted. Did you overexert yourself?"
"Someone had to clean up your mess." Stefan stated. What did that mean? Had he gone to the hospital to see Vicki or something?
"It was you that attacked that Vicki chick and those people, wasn't it?" I asked. I was pretty sure that it was, but I supposed that it would be a good idea to at least have some confirmation. He seemed cocky enough that he would admit to doing so. He just smirked.
"Guilty as charged." He declared. "So, did it work? You know if you don't drink human blood, it's not as effective."
That was not what I was expecting. I also had a feeling that those words would mean something. I remembered hearing about foreshadowing before. Oh wait, it was today in English. You know I didn't know if I knew any of my other teachers' names.
The next day, Stefan and I were with Zach as we prepared to go to the festival. Yes, they were having a festival for the comet passing over the town. I thought Lima was a small town, but this was a real small town.
"Why is Damon here?" My father asked. It was still weird thinking of him that way.
"He followed me here." Stefan explained. Did Damon follow Stefan around a lot? Did he not have a life of his own or anything? At least he wasn't trying to be a high school student because there was no way he could pass.
"He's posing a great risk for us all." Zach added. "That girl in the hospital could talk. He was better off killing people."
"She won't because I took care of it." Stefan replied. From a pragmatic point, he was right, but it was not the best to say that he wished Damon had killed her.
"Are you sure that it's going to work?" I asked because I felt that I needed to say something. "What did you say to her?"
"An animal attacked her and I'm not sure that it will work." Stefan responded. "I did my best."
"You could have at least said what kind of animal." I suggested. "We definitely cannot allow her to say anything. I can't believe that I was born into this family."
I was pretty sure that I was supposed to be acting like I had known this stuff for a long time. It was really weird to be in a show that I knew next to nothing about.
"Well, the other founding families inherited ways of killing vampires and we inherited the vampires." Zach told me. That sounded kind of poetic.
"Are you going to come to the festival with me?" I replied. "Elena might be there."
"I don't think it's a good idea for me to be with Elena with Damon around." He declared.
"Are you really going to let him control your life?" I challenged. "If you like her, you need to go for it."
I went to the festival and started to look around. The first thing that I noticed was there really didn't seem to be any sort of comet-related stuff there. If I hadn't known there was a comet, I would think that it was just some sort of regular gathering. There wasn't even some sort of goofy t-shirt that said "I survived the comet of 2009." It was still really weird being back in 2009. I was actually the same age as when I started Glee club right down to the same birthday. Also, I seriously couldn't help but wonder what face-painting had to do with a comet. They weren't even painting comets on people's faces. Couldn't the town had made more connected to the thing they were supposed to be celebrating?
Of course, the other thing was because of Damon being around, I wasn't sure how much time I would be able to spend with my friends. Maybe I could talk to Caroline about the guy that she seemed to have a crush on.
"Hey Faith, how's it going?" Lucy asked me. From what I could tell, I wasn't as close to her as I was with Elena, Caroline and Bonnie. Maybe she was trying to reach out and become friends with me. I wasn't sure why. I supposed that there wasn't any harm in me hanging out with her.
"I'm just here. I don't really know what to do." I admitted. I hadn't really planned on anything. I was pretty sure that Stefan was supposed to be watching out for Damon. He was probably better at it than I was.
"Why don't we go get something to eat?" She suggested. I could definitely use some food. I hadn't weighed myself. All I knew was that I was pretty small. "So, you look very pretty today."
"Thanks." I responded awkwardly. I still wasn't used to people calling me pretty.
"Are you okay?" She asked. I assumed that she noticed my awkwardness.
"Yeah, I just don't really know what to choose." I lied. We could have gone to the Grill, but I didn't think that I wanted to eat there every day because I would probably get sick of it.
"We could get some pizza. Or I'm pretty sure that one of the food trucks has ribs in it too." She offered. I supposed that was a good thing about having all of this non-comet-related stuff around.
"Sure, that sounds good." I agreed as we walked over to the food truck. I also had a debit card for the first time in my life. I didn't even have any idea how much money was in my bank account, but I was pretty sure it was a lot. I wondered if was how Quinn felt when she was living with her parents.
"So, are there any boys that you have crushes on right now?' She asked me.
"No." I answered. Wasn't there something that said two girls shouldn't always talk to each about boys? Of course, it wasn't the only thing that we talked about, and I supposed it didn't mean that we couldn't talk about them.
"I have to say that it's really nice to not to have worry about having enough for this." Lucy commented. We then sat down and ate, and we didn't really talk about much.
Later, after dark, I found that they were at least doing something comet-related. They were turning off the streetlights to make it easier to see…which sounded kind of unsafe to be honest. Anyway, there was only a limited source of fire, so I had to look for someone to light mine. I went and found Bonnie and she lit mine for me. I noticed Elena was talking to Stefan. I didn't want to eavesdrop, so I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I could tell that it didn't look good. In fact, it looked kind of like Elena was breaking up with him, even though they weren't actually together. I wished that I was able to do something about Damon, but it didn't seem like that was the problem. I couldn't help but wonder what the problem was then.
Later, everyone was at the Grill. We weren't really eating as much as we were hanging out. I was a little surprised that they let us do that, but they weren't particularly busy and technically, we did have drinks of the nonalcoholic variety.
"Has anyone seen Vicki?" Jeremy asked. I had a bad feeling about that. "I don't know where she is."
"You're her stalker. You tell us." Lucy's brother Tyler replied. He reminded me of someone whose name I didn't even want to mention anymore, but I was pretty sure Tyler wasn't as bad. "She probably found someone else to hook up with. Sorry, pill pusher, you've been replaced."
"What's with the pill pusher?" Elena asked. It sounded like he was dealing drugs.
"Ask him." Tyler responded.
"Can we not do this right now?" Jeremy asked.
"She's never gonna go for you." Tyler taunted.
"She already did over and over and over again." Jeremy retorted. Okay this teen drama was kind of addictive.
"Wait, you slept with Vicki?" Caroline asked in disbelief. "Vicki Donovan slept with you?"
"And I didn't even have to forced her into it." Jeremy retorted as he looked at Tyler. Okay, maybe he wasn't better than my former friend.
"What's he talking about, Ty?" Matt questioned.
"Nothing he's a punk." Tyler declared.
"You know what how about all of you just shut up and help me find my sister?" Matt suggested.
Everyone quickly dispersed. I had a really bad feeling about this. I noticed Elena decided to stay behind and talk to Jeremy. Since I felt that I wouldn't be able to find Vicki, I stayed behind as well and listened.
"Is that your game now? Are you dealing?" She asked him.
"No, I'm not dealing. Dealing implies making money." Jeremy responded. Did that mean he was giving drugs away for free? "When are you and Jenna gonna quit harassing me?"
"Well maybe they could send you to rehab?" I suggested. I didn't know why I decided to speak up, especially since I didn't have any experience with drugs myself. "Jeremy, your family just cares about you, and they don't want to see you ruin your life. You have to overcome your issues."
"We'll see about overcoming issues." He muttered as he walked away. Did he know?
"Thank you for that." She told me. "I probably could have handled that on my own though."
"I don't really have any idea where she is." I declared. "Maybe you should try to find him and take him home. I'm sure someone will find her.
Later, I was back in the Grill with Caroline and Bonnie. Vicki was back and her neck was bleeding. I wouldn't be surprised if Damon had bitten her again but in a much less serious way. However, she didn't seem to know what was going on.
"The druggies are always so much drama." Caroline remarked.
"So true." Bonnie agreed.
At that point, Stefan walked in. I wished that he had thought to tell me what was going on, but maybe it was because none of my friends knew anything about this stuff and he didn't want them to find out accidentally.
"She said that you found her on the roof." Matt remarked.
"Yeah." Stefan agreed. I was pretty sure that there was more to it than that.
"So, um thanks." Matt replied awkwardly.
At that point, Stefan walked over to us. I assumed it was for more than just asking me for a ride home.
"Excuse me. Have you guys seen Elena?" He asked them.
"She went home." I answered.
"But I'll give you her cell phone number and her email address." Bonnie declared as she wrote something down. She went over to give it to him and then she suddenly had a look of horror on her face. "What happened to you?"
All of us stared at her. Did she find out that he was a vampire or something?
"Sorry, that was rude." She declared as she stormed out. Stefan stared in shock.
"Yeah, she just wigs out sometimes." Caroline remarked. At that point, I got up.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I told her as I grabbed Stefan's hand, and we went outside.
"What the hell was that?" I asked him.
"I think she might be a witch." He explained. I supposed that I shouldn't have been surprised that there were witches on this show as well.
That night the doorbell rang. I went to go get and found that Stefan had done the same. It was Elena.
"Hi." I greeted her. She had a look of determination in her eyes. I couldn't help but wonder if she had changed her mind.
"Would you like to come in?" He asked.
"I could come in, but the comet is out here and I'd rather do what I want to do outside." I remarked as he stepped out. She stated. "I did some thinking. I was going to right in my diary and then I wondered to myself what I was going to write about. That I let a good thing pass me by?"
"You know what I would write about?" Stefan asked. I was pretty sure that he had a diary too. Maybe that was why the show was The Vampire Diaries. "I met a girl, the most beautiful girl and we talked, and it was epic and then I kissed her."
"But we haven't…" Elena started before he interrupted her with a kiss. I had to say it was amazing to watch.
.So Faith met Damon and it already seems like she doesn't like him and that's without even knowing what he's gonna do in the future. Will she be able to find a love like the one Stefan has? Please don't forget to review.
