Chapter Thirty-Nine – A Super Fast Check On Mojo Jojo

The walls were beginning to close in on Mojo Jojo inside of the ImpossiPit. Figuratively anyway. While there was minute progress made on deciphering the cryptic message on the six-sided wall, he wasn't very far. And unfortunately, because of the lack of food and drink from within the bowels of the merciless, ruthless ImpossiPit, the effects of starvation and dehydration in Mojo were far more pronounced.

The chimpanzee's tongue was turning a pale white. Saliva was foaming from inside of his mouth. Hunger pangs were hitting him hard, and his body had to tap into its natural resources – his body fat – to ensure its survival. But despite everything, Mojo pressed on, even with the sheer amounts of secondhand smoke Emery was producing from his mass amounts of chain smoking.

"You okay over there, my friend?" Emery asked Mojo.

"Shut the fuck up, Emery. Just shut the fuck up talking to me." Mojo angrily demanded.

Emery let out a long laugh as he walked over to Mojo, seeing the Townsville villain very visibly starved and dehydrated, nodding at the sight of Mojo struggling.

"Whoomp, there it is!" Emery said with a laugh before he snapped his fingers.

"Whoomp! (There It Is)" by Tag Team very briefly played. Emery started to breakdance a bit, albeit very poorly. Mojo walked over to Emery and shook him violently and angrily.

"FOR FUCK'S SAKE, EMERY! TURN THAT SHIT OFF!" Mojo shouted out loud in Emery's face.

Emery laughed hard and snapped his fingers, and the song turned off.

"Mojo Jojo! I can see into your soul. You. Will. DIE!" Emery then said before a few more laughs.

"You can look into my soul. But you don't own it!" Mojo retorted back.

"Mojo, got time for a little story?" Emery asked.

"NO!" Mojo answered with a shout.

"Well, too fucking bad. I'm gonna tell you anyway, like it or not." Emery said in return.

"You may as well be telling it to yourself because I will not pay attention to a single fucking syllable of it!" Mojo then told Emery as he continued to decipher the wall.

"That's fine, my simian friend. You know I don't give a shit." Emery said before clearing his throat. "As you very well know, 665 souls, including yours truly, have met their demise in the ImpossiPit. I am only, hmmm, about a day or two or three from witnessing number 666. If you would look above you there on your left, you'll see that I've kept a list of names of the souls that have perished here. The ones that stood out to me the most are in red. There was Catherine, Tara, Elizabeth, Roger, two Toms, Wally, Norma, Allen, George, Ben, and Jason. Of course there are lots and lots of others, check them out. And at the very end of that list, you'll see a guy named Mojo Jojo. Just waiting for it to be official like a referee whistle."

"And are you able to erase that Mojo Jojo person off of your list if he is able to escape these infernal clutches?" Mojo asked Emery.

"Wow, so you WERE listening, my friend!" Emery replied with a long laugh. "But yeah, sure, I can erase Mojo Jojo from the list, but I know I won't have to. 186 of the 665 souls have perished due to starvation while the rest just got it over with. You seem hell bent on being number 187 that will starve to death, but of course the….other option is freely available when you need it."

"Well, Emery, I cannot wait until I make you eat your fucking words." Mojo said as he continued.

"Great choice of words there, Mojo. I'd kill to eat something. Haven't done so in centuries." Emery said with a sly smile.

The villainous chimpanzee was going along at a very slow clip, just swallowing the saliva that was foaming from his mouth. He was also starting to feel lightheadedness, another sign that the ImpossiPit was slowly but surely squeezing the life out of him. Mojo briefly looked at the ladder that provided the second way out, but he knew that attempting to survive a Venusian replica was a quick ticket to death. So the Townsville chimpanzee pressed forward, attempting to make history as the first person to escape from the ImpossiPit.
