Authors Note: Yay, back to post something short. I had this started and thought to share it. I really like exploring post BSC future setting fics and really need to write them more. Just a little drabble.

Enjoy!

For the first time, Kristy Thomas found herself standing in front of the bathroom mirror, unsure of what to do with her hair. She brushed a strand of brown hair away from her face and sighed. Freshman year was behind her and today marked the start of her sophomore year of high school.

"Kristy, are you okay?" Elizabeth's voice called from the other side of the door. "You're going to miss the bus!"

"I'm coming!" Kristy answered, glancing at her closet.

She grabbed one of her new shirts and pulled it over her head. It was strange—she could feel it. Puberty had hit. She had shot up a few more inches over the summer, now standing at a not-so-tall but perfectly fine five-foot four inches. She was finally at eye level with most of her friends, and it felt... well, normal.

Sophomore year was just another hurdle to cross, but Kristy had already faced some pretty big ones. She'd made it through the end of the Baby-Sitters Club. She'd survived awkward, painful trips to the mall for bras with her mom. And she'd gotten used to Charlie leaving for college. High school was no different, right?

She looked at herself one last time in the mirror. She wasn't the same Kristy who had walked into high school a year ago. She was growing, changing, and maybe—just maybe—ready to surprise everyone. She pulled a clip from the drawer and pinned her hair halfway up, leaving the rest to fall loosely around her shoulders.

"SHS, here I come," she thought, her lips curling into a small smile. Taking a deep breath, Kristy grabbed her backpack, ready to face the day.

The bus was waiting outside, but this time, it wasn't just about getting to school. It was about stepping into her own, one confident step at a time.
