Chapter 3: Reunited Under the Sun

A/N: So, now that we are in the third chapter. I decided to add a twist to one character by giving him ability to glimpse visions of the future. Also, in this version Tanjiro starts off as a charcoal seller I decided to take this route and ensure he is successful at his venture until he eventually becomes a demon slayer. But before that, he and his sister will go through hell and back that will be for the future. As for wives, If Uzui Tengen has 3 wives so will Tanjiro as well. Maybe, I will add another woman for Tanjiro and Tengen.

The years had passed in a blur of quiet routines for Tanjiro Kamado. His once simple life had grown more complicated, not because of tragedy, but from the weight of new responsibilities. The pain of his father's passing and the sudden disappearance of the Kocho sisters, Kanae and Shinobu, still tugged at his heart, but he had buried those feelings deep, pouring his energy into looking after his family. In time, he became famous as a charcoal seller, known far and wide for his honest work, reliability, and warm smile. Despite the fame, the quiet ache for the two sisters never left him.

Even the prestigious Ubuyashiki family, respected by all, had become customers of Tanjiro's. Amane, the wife of Kagaya Ubuyashiki—the mysterious head of the family—often visited Tanjiro's stall herself, purchasing his coal and engaging in small talk. Though Tanjiro found her questions a bit unusual, he was polite, answering with the same kindness that made him beloved in the village.

One evening, after purchasing her usual supply of coal, Amane returned home to Kagaya, her thoughts lingering on the young man she had met. In the dim candlelight of their estate, she approached her husband, who sat quietly, his frail body wrapped in fine robes.

"Kagaya-sama," she began, her voice gentle but thoughtful. "I met a young man today, a charcoal seller. His name is Tanjiro Kamado. There's something about him… something remarkable."

Kagaya's eyes closed in contemplation, his serene face calm despite the curiosity in his wife's voice. "Tanjiro Kamado," he repeated softly, the name rolling off his tongue with a sense of familiarity. "What is it about him that piques your interest?"

Amane smiled faintly. "His spirit. There is a kindness in him, a purity I haven't seen in some time. He carries an aura of strength, though he hides it well."

Kagaya nodded slowly. "Perhaps fate has placed him in our path for a reason. Keep an eye on him, my love. But let him live his life in peace."

Meanwhile, Tanjiro had another encounter that would change the course of his quiet life. One evening, just as the last traces of sunlight faded, and the village sank into the peaceful lull of night, Tanjiro still had one last bundle of coal to sell. He was about to head home when a familiar figure approached, his presence marked by the calm confidence of a seasoned demon slayer. It was Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, a man who had become an unlikely friend to Tanjiro over the years.

"Giyu-san," Tanjiro greeted him with a warm smile. "You're just in time. I have a little coal left if you need some."

Giyu's expression remained as stoic as ever, but there was a glimmer of something softer in his eyes as he approached. "I'll take what you have left," he said, handing over the payment.

After completing the transaction, Giyu looked at Tanjiro and, in his usual understated manner, said, "It's getting dark. Let me escort you home."

Surprised but grateful, Tanjiro agreed, and the two began the walk toward the Kamado household. As they walked in silence, the sound of their footsteps blending with the night, Giyu's mind drifted to the secret he had been keeping from Tanjiro. He had discovered Tanjiro's secret training not long ago—the young man had been practicing with a nichirin sword, honing his skills in secret. Giyu had chosen not to confront him directly but instead offered quiet guidance, helping Tanjiro develop his abilities without plunging him into the dangerous world of demons.

Giyu had also sent a letter to Kagaya Ubuyashiki, informing him about Tanjiro's hidden talents, and together they had made a silent agreement: Tanjiro's life should remain as normal as possible, far away from the world of demons and demon slayers. Yet Giyu couldn't help but admire the boy's determination, seeing in him the potential for greatness.

As they reached the Kamado home, Giyu paused, his gaze lingering on the quiet, humble house that Tanjiro called home. "You've become quite strong, Tanjiro," Giyu said quietly, his voice low but filled with meaning. "But remember, strength doesn't always mean going into the fight blind."

Tanjiro looked at Giyu with a curious smile. "I just want to protect the people I care about."

Giyu nodded, his lips pressing into a thin line. "I know. But some battles… are better left forgotten."

With that, Giyu left, disappearing into the shadows of the night. Tanjiro watched him go, a sense of unease settling in his chest. Giyu's words, as cryptic as they often were, left him wondering what the future held.

Meanwhile, miles away at the Butterfly Mansion, the Kocho sisters, Kanae and Shinobu, had settled into their roles as healers and demon slayers, training new slayers and tending to the wounded. The mansion had become their home, but despite the peace it brought, both sisters felt a growing restlessness, a longing they couldn't ignore.

One afternoon, as Kanae and Shinobu sat together in the courtyard, basking in the warm sunlight, Aoi, one of the attendants, hurried toward them, her face bright with excitement. "Kanae-sama! Shinobu-sama! Giyu-san is here to see you!"

The sisters exchanged surprised glances before standing and hurrying toward the entrance. Giyu stood waiting, his usual stoic expression in place, but there was a softness in his blue eyes as he regarded the two women.

"Kanae. Shinobu," he greeted them, his voice calm but carrying an undertone of something important. "I've found him. Tanjiro. He's alive and well."

Both sisters froze, their hearts racing as the name they had longed to hear spilled from Giyu's lips.

"Tanjiro-kun…" Kanae whispered, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"He's now a famous charcoal seller," Giyu continued, watching their reactions carefully. "He's safe. I've been keeping an eye on him."

Shinobu stepped forward, her voice laced with urgency. "Where is he? Can we see him?"

Giyu shook his head gently. "Not yet. He's been kept away from the world of demons, and it's better that way. But…" He paused, sensing their disappointment. "I'm sure your paths will cross again. Fate has a way of bringing people together."

Kanae's heart swelled with both hope and frustration. "He doesn't even know we're still alive, does he?"

Giyu looked away for a moment before answering. "No. But when the time is right, you'll find him. I promise."

Tears welled in Kanae's eyes as she looked up at the sky, her chest tightening with a mixture of relief and longing. "Thank you, Giyu-san," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Thank you."

Shinobu, though quieter, wore a similar expression, her heart aching for the boy they had left behind so many years ago. The thought of seeing Tanjiro again stirred something deep within her, a flicker of hope that had long been buried under the weight of duty and loss.

As Giyu left the Butterfly Mansion, the sisters stood together, their hands clasped tightly as they stared into the horizon, their thoughts filled with the promise of a reunion that now seemed closer than ever.

000000000000000000000

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the village as Tanjiro Kamado went about his usual business. His cart, laden with bundles of charcoal, creaked softly as he pushed it through the marketplace. The chatter of townsfolk and the laughter of children filled the air, and Tanjiro greeted them all with his signature smile, a warmth that seemed to brighten even the dullest of days. His appearance had changed over the years, but he still wore the familiar checkered, black-and-biscay-green haori over a white robe, along with black pants. His turquoise scarf fluttered in the gentle breeze, and his hanafuda earrings—adorned with the rising sun over a mountain—swayed as he moved.

His hair, now tied into a small ponytail, gave him a slightly older, more mature look, but his kind, gentle eyes still held the innocence of the boy who had once made promises under the stars. He had grown in fame, not just as a charcoal seller, but as someone whose spirit seemed to bring light wherever he went.

Unbeknownst to him, the two women who had long held his heart in theirs were nearby. Kanae Kocho, the newly appointed Flower Hashira, walked through the village with her sister, Shinobu, now one of the strongest and most skilled demon slayers with her use of insect breathing. The two were inseparable, their bond as strong as ever despite the hardships they had faced.

Kanae's gentle smile contrasted with Shinobu's more mischievous one, but both of their expressions softened with fondness as they strolled side by side, their swords at their waists and the weight of their responsibilities never far from their minds.

As they walked, Kanae's eyes suddenly widened, her heart skipping a beat as she saw a familiar figure in the distance. "Shinobu..." she breathed, her voice filled with a mixture of disbelief and hope. "Is that...?"

Shinobu followed her sister's gaze, and her breath caught in her throat. There, standing by his cart of charcoal, was Tanjiro—older, stronger, but unmistakably the boy they had both cherished for so long.

"Tanjiro-kun!" Kanae gasped, her hand flying to her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes. Without another word, she broke into a run, her heart pounding in her chest, her feet barely touching the ground as she rushed toward him.

Shinobu, too, felt the rush of emotions she had buried for years bubble to the surface. She followed her sister, her usually calm and composed demeanor breaking into an expression of pure, unfiltered joy.

Tanjiro, oblivious to the commotion behind him, was handing a bundle of charcoal to an elderly couple when he suddenly felt a weight crash into him from behind. Before he could react, arms wrapped tightly around him, and he heard a voice, soft and full of emotion, whisper his name.

"Tanjiro-kun..."

He froze. The scent of flowers, familiar and soothing, washed over him, and for a moment, he thought he was dreaming. Slowly, he turned his head, and there she was—Kanae, her tear-streaked face resting against his back, her arms clinging to him as if she never wanted to let go.

"K-Kanae...?" Tanjiro stammered, his heart racing in his chest. "Is it really you?"

Before he could fully process what was happening, another set of arms wrapped around him from the front. Shinobu smiled up at him, her purple eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "We've finally found you, Tanjiro-kun."

Tanjiro's face turned a deep shade of red as he looked between the two sisters, completely overwhelmed. "W-What's going on? I... I don't understand. Why are you here? I thought... I thought..."

"We never wanted to leave you," Kanae whispered, pulling back just enough to look into his eyes. "But we had to. We had to become stronger so that we could protect people... so that we could protect you."

Shinobu, her usual teasing smile replaced with something softer, more vulnerable, nodded. "But we never forgot you, Tanjiro-kun. Not for a single day."

Tanjiro's breath hitched in his throat. The emotions he had buried deep inside for years came flooding back all at once—relief, happiness, and an overwhelming sense of love. He had dreamed of this moment for so long, but he never imagined it would feel like this.

"I missed you both so much," he admitted, his voice barely a whisper. "I thought... I thought I'd never see you again."

Kanae's tears fell freely now, her smile radiant as she cupped Tanjiro's face in her hands. "We're here now, Tanjiro-kun. And we're never leaving you again."

And then, before Tanjiro could fully grasp what was happening, Kanae leaned forward and pressed her lips softly to his. The kiss was brief, but it was filled with all the unspoken feelings that had lingered between them for years—feelings that had been buried beneath grief and time, but had never truly faded.

Tanjiro's eyes widened, his face turning a deep shade of red. "Wh-What are you—?"

But before he could finish, Shinobu followed suit, her lips brushing against his in a soft, almost teasing kiss. When she pulled back, there was a mischievous glint in her tear-filled eyes, but also something warmer, more sincere.

His heart pounded in his chest, his face burning with embarrassment. "Y-You both—! I… I'm younger than you…!" His voice was high-pitched with flustered confusion, his hands shaking slightly as he tried to process what had just happened.

Kanae laughed softly, the sound like a melody carried by the wind. She gently cupped his cheek, her touch warm and soothing. "That doesn't matter to us, Tanjiro. You've always been special. To us, you're not just a boy—you're our sunshine, our heart."

Shinobu nodded, her usual teasing smile softened into something more tender. "We promised we'd always be with you, didn't we? And now that we've found you again… we're not letting go this time."

Tanjiro, overwhelmed by their words and their affection, could hardly speak. His heart swelled with emotions he couldn't quite name—gratitude, happiness, and something deeper, something that had been there all along but had only now started to bloom. He opened his mouth to speak, but all he could manage was a choked laugh, his voice cracking as he tried to contain the wave of emotion threatening to break free.

"I... I don't know what to say..." he stammered, his hands trembling slightly as he looked at the two women who meant so much to him. "I... I missed you both so much. But I didn't think... I didn't think you'd still..."

Kanae placed a finger to his lips, silencing him gently. "You don't have to say anything, Tanjiro. Just know that we've always cared about you."

He had always cared deeply for the sisters, but hearing them say it so plainly, so confidently, sent a rush of warmth through him.

The three of them stood there, embraced by the golden light of the afternoon sun, as if time itself had decided to grant them this moment of reunion. The marketplace bustled around them, but in that moment, it was as though the world had narrowed to just the three of them, bound by the unspoken love and connection that had remained through all the years apart.

As they stood there, Kanae and Shinobu holding him close, Tanjiro knew one thing for certain: no matter what came next, he would never let them go again.

0000000000000000

The days had settled into a comforting rhythm for Tanjiro Kamado. His frequent visits to the Butterfly Mansion had become more than just business; they had become a part of his life. The peaceful wisteria trees, the scent of flowers in the air, and the warmth of Kanae and Shinobu's company had turned the mansion into a second home for him. He no longer thought of his trips as just selling charcoal. Every visit felt like a return to something deeper—a place where he was wanted, cherished.

"Tanjiro-kun!" Shinobu's voice rang out as she spotted him walking through the mansion's entrance, his familiar green-and-black haori draped over his shoulders. Her eyes lit up with mischief as she rushed over, her small hands playfully tugging at his sleeve. "You're late today! We were starting to think you were avoiding us."

Tanjiro smiled, his face lighting up as it always did when he saw the Kocho sisters. "I'm sorry, Shinobu-chan. The mountain trails were a little rough this morning, and I had to help my mother with some errands before I left."

Shinobu's teasing smile softened, and without another word, she wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. "We missed you."

From behind her, Kanae appeared, her serene presence calming the room like a gentle breeze. "Shinobu's right," she said softly, her pale violet eyes locking with his. "It feels like the mansion is a little duller when you're not here, Tanjiro-kun."

Tanjiro, feeling the warmth of their affection, scratched the back of his head, his cheeks turning a faint shade of pink. "You both always say things like that. I'm just here to sell charcoal, really."

Kanae chuckled, walking over to him and placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "You're much more than that to us, Tanjiro. You know that, don't you?"

He looked up at her, feeling a strange warmth in his chest. Kanae's gentle smile, Shinobu's playful teasing—it all felt so natural, so right. He couldn't deny that he enjoyed their company more than he let on, but something deeper stirred within him, something he didn't yet fully understand.

"Anyway," Shinobu chimed in, breaking the moment of silence, "we've already prepared udon for you, Tanjiro-kun. Come, sit with us."

And so, like so many days before, Tanjiro found himself seated with the Kocho sisters, sharing tea, udon, laughter, and stories. Over time, his once formal "Kanae-san" and "Shinobu-san" had turned into the more familiar "Kanae-chan" and "Shinobu-chan," much to their delight.

The sisters, Kanae and Shinobu, always seemed to find reasons for Tanjiro to come back. Whether it was helping with supplies, sharing tea and different dishes to eat, or simply enjoying the comfort of his presence, each visit brought them closer. What had started as a simple friendship years ago when they first met was evolving into something more profound, something the sisters had yet to fully reveal.

As Tanjiro made his way toward the mansion that afternoon, his usual cart of charcoal clattering softly behind him, the sun shone brightly overhead. The blooming wisteria trees lined the path, swaying gently in the breeze. He smiled as he approached the familiar gates, his heart light. The Butterfly Mansion had become a sanctuary for him, a place where he could momentarily escape his burdens.

At the entrance, Kanae stood waiting, her face lighting up as soon as she spotted him. She waved eagerly, her graceful form framed by the soft sunlight.

"Tanjiro-kun!" she called out, her voice as warm as always. "I'm so glad you came."

Tanjiro smiled back, his heart lifting at the sight of her. "Of course, Kanae-chan. You said you needed more charcoal, didn't you?"

Kanae chuckled softly, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Yes, but I think we need more than just charcoal from you." She winked playfully before adding, "Come in. We've prepared tea for you."

As they walked inside together, the air around them seemed to hum with unspoken emotions. Tanjiro couldn't put his finger on it, but lately, things had felt... different. He had always admired Kanae and Shinobu for their strength, kindness, and grace, but now, he found himself feeling something else. Something that stirred deep in his chest whenever he was with them.

Shinobu appeared moments later, peeking from behind one of the sliding doors, her eyes bright with mischief. "Oh, there you are, Tanjiro-kun. We were just talking about you."

"About me?" Tanjiro asked, slightly surprised.

Shinobu stepped out fully, her smile both teasing and affectionate. "You've become quite popular around here. We can't help but look forward to your visits."

Kanae giggled softly. "She's right. It's refreshing to have you here with us, Tanjiro-kun. You're always so kind."

Tanjiro blushed slightly, scratching the back of his neck. "You're both too kind. I'm just happy to help out."

The tea room was serene as always, with the soft scent of flowers wafting in from the garden. They sat together, chatting and laughing as they sipped their tea, but Tanjiro couldn't shake the feeling that there was something the sisters wanted to say—something unspoken that lingered just beneath the surface.

As the afternoon wore on, the mood shifted. The conversation grew more personal, and the playful banter gave way to something deeper. It was Shinobu who first broached the topic that had been on both sisters' minds for months.

"Tanjiro," she began, her voice unusually soft, "have you ever thought about your future? About what lies ahead for you and your family?"

Tanjiro blinked, slightly caught off guard by the sudden seriousness of her tone. "My future? Well… I haven't really thought about it much. My main focus is on taking care of my family, especially after what happened to my father. I just want them to be safe and happy."

Shinobu and Kanae exchanged a glance, their expressions softening. It was Kanae who spoke next, her voice gentle but filled with emotion.

"We've been thinking about our future too," Kanae said, her eyes locking onto Tanjiro's. "And… we've come to realize something important."

Tanjiro tilted his head in confusion. "What is it?"

Kanae reached out and gently took his hand in hers, her touch warm and comforting. "We… both care about you, Tanjiro-kun. More than you might realize."

Shinobu moved closer, her gaze softening as she took his other hand. "You've become someone precious to us, Tanjiro. Not just as a friend, but as someone we can't imagine being without."

Tanjiro's heart skipped a beat. He could feel the sincerity in their words, but the weight of what they were saying took a moment to sink in. "Kanae… Shinobu… I—"

Before he could finish, Kanae leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips. The kiss was tender, filled with the emotions she had held back for so long. Tanjiro's eyes widened in surprise, his heart pounding in his chest. When Kanae pulled back, her cheeks were flushed, but she smiled warmly at him.

"You're our heart, Tanjiro-kun," she whispered. "You always have been."

Shinobu, not wanting to be left behind, leaned in and kissed him as well, her lips brushing against his with a softness that made his breath catch. "We've fallen for you, Tanjiro-kun," she whispered. "And we're not afraid to admit it anymore."

Tanjiro was completely overwhelmed, his face flushed, his heart racing. "I… I don't know what to say…" he stammered, feeling both flustered and deeply touched by their confessions.

"You don't have to say anything," Kanae said gently, pulling him into a warm embrace. "Just stay with us. That's all we ask."

Tanjiro hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to respond. But as he looked into their eyes—eyes filled with love and warmth—he felt a sense of peace wash over him. He couldn't deny the bond he shared with them, a connection that had grown over the years. Slowly, he allowed himself to relax in their arms, feeling the weight of his responsibilities lift, even if just for a moment.

That night, at the sisters' request, Tanjiro stayed with them. It wasn't out of lust or desire but out of a pure and unspoken love that had grown between them over time. As the three of them lay together, the warmth of their presence brought him a sense of comfort he hadn't realized he had been missing.

But as the peaceful night unfolded at the Butterfly Mansion, a shadow loomed over the horizon.

Deep within the infinity castle, the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji watched with cold, calculating eyes. Kokushibo, one of his most loyal Upper Moons, had provided him with critical information—information about the Kamado family, about a boy who wore the hanafuda earrings, a boy whose family lineage was tied to the legendary Sun Breathing technique.

Muzan's lips curled into a twisted smile as he gazed at the image of Tanjiro in his mind. "So, the boy is still unaware of his true potential," he mused. "A charcoal seller now, is he? How fucking amusing."

He turned his gaze to the Upper Moon One, standing silently by his side. "I have no need to rush. Let him live his pathetic little life for a few more years. Let him think he's safe. But when the time comes…" Muzan's voice grew colder, more sinister. "I will wipe out the Kamado family. Every last one of them. They will not see me coming."

Kokushibo nodded silently, his six eyes gleaming with a deadly resolve. "As you command, Muzan-sama."

Muzan's eyes flickered with cruel amusement. "For now, let him be. Let him enjoy his last few years of peace. It will make his fall all the more satisfying."

After that, Muzan's laughter echoed through the Infinity castle making every demon under him wonder why their master was in such a good mood.

But for now, beneath the wisteria trees of the Butterfly Mansion, Tanjiro, Kanae, and Shinobu shared a rare moment of happiness—blissfully unaware of the storm gathering on the horizon.

000000000000000000000

Tanjiro's visits to the Butterfly Mansion had become routine, and each time he stepped through its gates, it felt like he was coming home. Whenever Kanae and Shinobu weren't away on missions, he would be there, bringing warmth and charm to everyone he encountered. Over time, he became a favorite among the Kakushi, attendants, and even the demon slayers who were recovering and undergoing rehabilitation training. His sincerity, kindness, and gentle demeanor made him a natural source of comfort for everyone at the mansion.

Unbeknownst to him, his presence had stirred more than just admiration among some of the women at the mansion. Several of the female Kakushi and demon slayers had developed a secret crush on Tanjiro. His charming smile, his polite nature, and his unwavering dedication to his family were qualities that endeared him to them. But despite the growing attention, Tanjiro remained blissfully unaware of their affections, always attributing the kindness he received to the friendly atmosphere of the mansion.

However, there were two people who were very much aware of the romantic interest swirling around him—Kanae and Shinobu. The sisters had become deeply possessive of Tanjiro, their affection for him far exceeding simple admiration. They noticed every glance, every shy smile, and every excuse the women found to be near Tanjiro. And they didn't like it one bit.

It was Kanae who first took action, her usually gentle demeanor turning sharp whenever one of the Kakushi or demon slayers lingered too long in Tanjiro's presence.

"I think it's time for your rehabilitation training," she would say with a sweet smile, guiding the women away before they could make any advances toward Tanjiro.

Shinobu, though more subtle, was no less determined. She had a way of watching over Tanjiro with a sharp eye, always ensuring that no one got too close. The slightest hint of romantic interest from any woman was swiftly dealt with—though not in a way that Tanjiro would notice.

The young future demon slayer, ever oblivious to the silent rivalry happening around him, simply assumed Kanae and Shinobu were looking out for him as they always did. He admired their protective nature, never once suspecting that they were actively turning away any potential romantic competition.

One afternoon, after another visit filled with laughter and tea, Tanjiro learned something that deepened his admiration for the sisters even more.

As they sat together in the garden, surrounded by blooming wisteria, Tanjiro noticed a young girl watching them from a distance. She had large, curious purple eyes and a quiet demeanor that made her seem almost invisible. She stood by the entrance to the courtyard, flipping a coin absentmindedly in her hand.

"That's Kanao," Kanae said softly, following Tanjiro's gaze. "We adopted her a while ago. She's been through a lot."

Tanjiro looked at Kanae in surprise. "Adopted?"

Shinobu nodded, her expression softening as she spoke. "Kanao was sold into slavery as a child. When we found her, she was completely withdrawn, unable to make decisions for herself. She still struggles with that."

Tanjiro's heart ached for the girl. He watched her quietly flip her coin again, her face blank, as if the world around her didn't matter.

"She uses that coin to make decisions," Kanae explained, her voice laced with sadness. "I gave it to her, hoping it would help her in some way. But..."

"She relies on it too much," Shinobu finished, her eyes reflecting the pain they felt for Kanao. "She's afraid to trust herself."

Tanjiro's brow furrowed in concern. He couldn't imagine the kind of trauma that would lead someone to feel that nothing mattered. It was as if Kanao had lost all sense of herself, relying on something as simple as a coin to make decisions for her. It wasn't right. She deserved more than that.

"Don't worry," Tanjiro said, his voice filled with quiet determination. "I'll help her. She'll grow, and she'll love you both as her big sisters. I'm sure of it. And like you two she will become a powerful demon slayer."

Kanae and Shinobu exchanged a glance, their hearts swelling with affection for Tanjiro. His sincerity, his willingness to help, even in situations that seemed impossible—it was why they loved him so deeply.

Days passed, and Tanjiro found himself thinking more and more about Kanao. Her detached behavior, her reliance on the coin—it bothered him. He couldn't stand the thought of someone feeling so lost, especially someone under the care of Kanae and Shinobu.

Then, one afternoon, as Kanao stood once again in the garden, flipping her coin, Tanjiro approached her.

"Kanao," he called softly.

She didn't respond, her eyes focused solely on the coin as it spun in the air. When it landed, she glanced at the result, and only then did she turn to him.

"You used the coin to decide whether or not to talk to me, didn't you?" Tanjiro asked, his voice gentle but firm.

Kanao nodded, her expression unreadable.

"Why?" he asked. "Why didn't you just decide on your own?"

Kanao looked at him for a moment before answering, her voice quiet and detached. "It doesn't matter. Nothing matters."

Tanjiro's heart ached at her words. He couldn't believe that anyone could feel so lost, so disconnected from themselves. But he didn't give up.

"There's no such thing as something that doesn't matter," he said, his voice filled with warmth. "Everything matters, especially what's in your heart."

Kanao blinked, her expression unchanged, but Tanjiro could see a flicker of something in her eyes. It was small, but it was there.

"That voice in your heart," he continued, "it's really small, isn't it? But it's still there."

An idea suddenly struck him. He held out his hand toward her.

"Can I borrow your coin for a moment?"

Kanao hesitated, her grip tightening on the small coin. She seemed reluctant, but after a moment, she handed it over to him without a word.

Tanjiro smiled at her. "Come with me."

They walked out to the courtyard, the sun casting long shadows across the grass. Tanjiro stood in the center of the yard, holding Kanao's coin between his fingers.

"I'm going to flip this coin," he said, meeting her gaze. "If it lands on heads, you'll start listening to the voice in your heart from now on. If it lands on tails, well... I'll just keep flipping it until it lands on heads."

Kanao stared at him, her usually expressionless face showing the slightest hint of confusion. But there was also a trace of concern, as if part of her was afraid of what might happen.

Tanjiro flipped the coin high into the air, so high that for a moment, he lost sight of it. Kanao watched it with wide eyes, her breath catching in her throat. The coin spun and glinted in the sunlight before it came tumbling back down. Tanjiro caught it effortlessly and held it in his palm.

Kanao looked at him anxiously. She hadn't seen the result, and the anticipation was written all over her usually stoic face.

Tanjiro smiled warmly at her. "It's heads," he said gently. "That means you'll listen to your heart from now on."

Kanao stared at him, her eyes wide, as if she couldn't quite believe what he had just said. For the first time, she seemed uncertain, her grip tightening around the hem of her sleeve.

"Wait... How did you make it come up heads?" asked Kanao with a confused look.

Tanjiro handed the coin back to her. "Actually, I didn't... It's by chance, but remember—it's your heart that matters. It's the heart that drives you. No coin can decide that for you."

With those words, he smiled brightly at her, the kind of smile that could light up the darkest of days. He gave her a small wave and left her standing there, holding the coin close to her chest.

As Tanjiro walked away, he didn't notice the two figures watching from the shadows of the mansion's entrance. Kanae and Shinobu had witnessed the entire exchange, their hearts swelling with pride and joy. Tears brimmed in their eyes as they watched Kanao clutch the coin, visibly moved by Tanjiro's kindness and bright spirit.

Without a word, the sisters hurried toward Tanjiro, their emotions overwhelming them. Kanae reached him first, pulling him into a tight embrace.

"Thank you, Tanjiro-kun," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "You've done more for her than we ever could."

Shinobu was next, gently pressing a kiss to his cheek, her usual teasing smile replaced by something far more affectionate. "You have no idea how much this means to us," she said softly. "Thank you."

Tanjiro, blushing furiously at the sudden affection, stammered, "I-I was just trying to help…"

The sisters only smiled, their love for him shining in their eyes.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow over the Butterfly Mansion, the bond between them deepened. Tanjiro had unknowingly changed Kanao's life, and in doing so, had only solidified his place in the hearts of the two women who cherished him most.

The sun dipped low in the sky, casting long shadows across the Butterfly Mansion as Tanjiro finished another exhausting day of secret training. His muscles ached, and sweat clung to his brow, but a deep sense of progress and determination gave him the strength to keep pushing forward. For weeks now, Tanjiro had been honing his skills in secret—strengthening his body, refining his techniques, and mastering his breathing. He had come to the Butterfly Mansion not only to see Kanae and Shinobu, but also to prepare himself for the inevitable fight that lay ahead.

Despite the peace he felt at the mansion, Tanjiro knew it couldn't last. His family's safety weighed heavily on his mind, and with demons lurking in the shadows, he couldn't afford to be unprepared. Every time he saw Kanae's gentle smile or Shinobu's teasing grin, it reminded him of the world they lived in—a world where even the kindest hearts were forced to carry swords.

But Tanjiro hadn't told Kanae or Shinobu about his secret training. He knew they would worry if they found out, especially since they had always encouraged him to stay out of the demon slayer world. He understood their desire to protect him, but deep down, Tanjiro knew that demons would come for him and his family eventually. He had to be ready, no matter what.

The evening air was cool as Tanjiro made his way back from his secluded training spot near the mansion. His thoughts were focused, replaying his breathing exercises and sword swings in his mind, when a soft voice from the shadows startled him.

"Tanjiro-kun…" Kanae's voice was gentle but serious.

Tanjiro spun around, his eyes widening in surprise. Standing a few feet away were Kanae and Shinobu, their expressions unreadable in the dimming light. There was no anger in their faces, but the concern was unmistakable.

"Kanae-chan? Shinobu-chan?" Tanjiro stammered, wiping the sweat from his brow. "I—I didn't realize you were there."

Shinobu stepped forward, crossing her arms as her sharp eyes studied him. "Ara Ara…So, you've been training behind our backs, hmm? And here I thought you were just coming to visit us for tea and relaxation."

Tanjiro winced, guilt tugging at his heart. He had hoped to keep his secret training hidden a bit longer. "I'm sorry. I didn't want to worry you two… I just—" He took a breath, gathering his thoughts. "I need to be strong. I need to protect my family. I can't sit back and do nothing while demons are still out there, knowing they might come for us one day."

Kanae's face softened as she approached him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "We understand, Tanjiro-kun. But… you're so precious to us. We didn't want this life for you."

Shinobu's usual teasing expression was replaced by something more serious. She sighed, shaking her head. "Demons are not something to take lightly. We tried to keep you out of this world for as long as we could… but we knew this day would come."

Tanjiro met their gazes, his heart heavy with the weight of his decision. "I know you want to protect me. I've felt it every day I've been with you. But you can't always be there, and I can't always rely on you to keep me safe. If demons come for me or my family, I'll have no choice but to fight. I need to be ready."

The air between them grew thick with emotion. Kanae's fingers tightened slightly on his shoulder, her expression torn between pride and worry. Shinobu's eyes softened, though there was a flicker of sadness in them as she looked at Tanjiro.

After a moment, Kanae gave a small nod. "You're right, Tanjiro-kun. We can't always protect you, no matter how much we want to. But that doesn't mean we can't help you."

Shinobu stepped forward, her voice steady with determination. "You've been training on your own, but that won't be enough if you're going to survive against demons. Let us help. We'll train you properly."

Tanjiro blinked in surprise. "You… you're not mad?"

Shinobu gave him a small smile, though there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. "Mad? Maybe a little. But more than that, we're worried. If this is the path you've chosen, we want to make sure you're ready for it."

Kanae nodded in agreement, her gentle smile returning. "We won't hold you back, but we'll also make sure you're prepared. And there's something else we can do to protect your family."

Tanjiro looked at her curiously. "What do you mean?"

Kanae's eyes sparkled with a soft determination. "Wisteria. Demons hate wisteria, as you know. We can give you wisteria incense to burn around your house. It will keep the demons at bay during the night."

Shinobu added, "It's not a permanent solution, but it'll buy you time. Time to train, time to grow stronger."

Tanjiro's heart swelled with gratitude. Kanae and Shinobu had always been protective of him, but this… this was more than he could have hoped for. They were offering him the tools he needed to protect his family, even though it went against their desire to shield him from the dangers of the demon world.

"Thank you," Tanjiro said earnestly, bowing his head. "I'll use the wisteria incense, and I'll keep training. I promise, I'll do everything I can to protect my family… and you both."

The sincerity in his voice touched both women deeply. Kanae's eyes lingered on Tanjiro's sword, and after a moment of silence, she asked softly, "Tanjiro-kun, that sword… your Nichirin blade. Where did you get it?"

Tanjiro hesitated, his mind flashing back to the day he met Hatsuo, the scarred, retired demon slayer who had given him the sword. He remembered how Hatsuo had told him about the terrible fate that had befallen Kanae's and Shinobu's parents—how they had been killed by demons. Hatsuo was the one who had insisted that Tanjiro take up the sword to protect those he loved, just as he had once tried to protect his own family.

"Hatsuo-san gave it to me," Tanjiro said quietly, his voice thick with the memory. "He told me about your parents… about how they were killed by demons. He said you wanted to keep me away from all of this because you didn't want me to face that same pain."

Kanae's breath hitched slightly, her fingers tightening on his shoulder. Shinobu remained calm, though a flicker of pain crossed her eyes at the mention of their parents.

"Hatsuo-san said he couldn't fight anymore, but he saw potential in me," Tanjiro continued, his voice soft but determined. "He gave me his sword so I could protect those I love. I didn't want to let him down… and I don't want to let you two down either."

The silence that followed was heavy with unspoken emotions. Kanae and Shinobu both felt their hearts swell with pride for Tanjiro's strength, but they also felt the deep fear of what lay ahead for him. The thought of Tanjiro facing the same dangers they had faced, the thought of him getting hurt—or worse—was almost too much to bear.

Before Tanjiro could react, Kanae pulled him into a tight embrace, her cheek pressed against his. Her voice trembled as she whispered, "You're so brave, Tanjiro-kun. But… we're so scared of losing you."

Shinobu, usually so composed, followed suit, wrapping her arms around him from the other side. Her lips brushed against his ear as she murmured, "You mean so much to us, Tanjiro. Please… don't get hurt. We can't lose you."

Tanjiro's heart raced, his cheeks flushing at the sudden closeness of the two women he cared for so deeply. He could feel the warmth of their bodies, the genuine love and fear in their embrace. And then, before he could say anything, both Kanae and Shinobu leaned in, pressing soft, lingering kisses to his lips.

The world seemed to pause for a moment, and all Tanjiro could feel was the intense rush of emotions flooding his chest. The affection, the care, the fear of losing him—it was all wrapped up in those kisses. His heart pounded in his chest, and for a moment, he was too stunned to speak.

When they finally pulled away, Tanjiro looked into their eyes, seeing the tears glistening there. He could see the depth of their love, and the fear that had driven them to reveal it in this way. He didn't want them to be afraid, but he understood why they were.

"I swear," Tanjiro said softly, his voice filled with quiet determination. "If I ever die, I'll fight my way back from death itself. I'll find my way back to you."

Kanae's eyes widened, tears spilling down her cheeks as she smiled through her emotions. "Tanjiro-kun…"

Shinobu wiped a tear from her own eye, her voice trembling with emotion. "Just… don't go anywhere we can't follow, okay?"

Tanjiro smiled, his heart full of warmth. "I promise."

The three of them stood there, embraced by the fading light of the sunset, a sense of peace settling between them.

The evening sky was a mixture of twilight hues, the last rays of the sun casting a soft glow on the grounds of the Butterfly Mansion. The air was calm, but there was a distinct tension, one that lingered long after the emotions shared between Tanjiro, Kanae, and Shinobu. The trio stood together, embraced in their silent promise, when two figures watched from the shadows, their presence unnoticed for a moment longer.

Masachika Kumeno, a young man with short, spiky black hair and two prominent scars on his left cheek, stood still, his olive-green eyes focused on the scene before him. His mouth, usually curved into a cheerful smile, was now set in a serious line. Beside him, Yuzuriha, a former Demon Slayer turned Kakushi, gently lowered her mask to reveal her kind green eyes and pale skin. Her concern for Masachika was evident as she leaned closer.

"Masa-kun, are you okay?" Yuzuriha asked softly, her voice bringing him out of the daze he had fallen into.

Masachika blinked, shaken from the vision that had overwhelmed his senses. He muttered under his breath, his gaze still fixed on Tanjiro, specifically on the familiar hanafuda earrings dangling from his ears. "There's no way… it can't be him… this is impossible."

Yuzuriha tilted her head, confusion flickering across her face. "What's wrong, Masa-kun?"

He shook his head, a mixture of disbelief and curiosity filling his mind. The vision had been brief, but intense. Two powerful beings—one a God, the other a Goddess—had appeared before him. The God wore hanafuda earrings, his eyes glowing red, his aura like a mixture of life and death, sun and moon, while the Goddess beside him radiated an aura of darkness and fire. It was a future he couldn't fully comprehend yet, but one thing was clear: it had something to do with Tanjiro.

"I saw a vision," Masachika said quietly, turning to Yuzuriha. "I'll tell you more later… in private. But for now…" He glanced at Tanjiro, Kanae, and Shinobu, a playful smirk spreading across his lips. "Let's go catch up with them."

Yuzuriha nodded, though a hint of worry remained in her eyes. She followed Masachika as they approached the trio, her mask still lowered, revealing her soft features. As they neared, Masachika cleared his throat loudly, making sure to grab everyone's attention.

Tanjiro, Kanae, and Shinobu all jumped slightly, turning towards the newcomers with wide eyes. Their faces were flushed from the earlier emotional exchange, and Masachika couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.

"Seems I'm interrupting something," Masachika said with a teasing grin. His voice was light, but there was an undertone of curiosity in his gaze as he looked at Tanjiro. "So, this is the boy who has stolen both Kanae's and Shinobu's hearts. Quite the achievement."

Kanae and Shinobu mock glared at him, though there was no real anger in their expressions, only amusement. "Masachika, don't tease," Kanae scolded gently, though her smile betrayed her amusement.

Shinobu crossed her arms, her lips twitching into a smirk. "You know, Masachika, you really shouldn't throw stones when you live in a glass house."

Yuzuriha, standing beside Masachika, couldn't help but giggle softly at Tanjiro's blushing face. She stepped forward, her eyes meeting Tanjiro's kind gaze. "Don't mind him, Tanjiro-kun. He's always like this. Allow me to introduce myself properly—my name is Yuzuriha, and I'm… well, I'm Masachika's girlfriend."

Tanjiro blinked, his polite nature kicking in immediately as he bowed deeply. "It's an honor to meet you both. My name is Tanjiro Kamado."

Masachika smiled warmly at Tanjiro's respectful demeanor. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Tanjiro-kun. I've heard quite a bit about you from Kanae and Shinobu. You've made quite the impression on them."

Tanjiro blushed slightly, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I… I'm just a charcoal seller. I haven't done anything special."

Yuzuriha smiled softly at his humility. "From what I've heard, you're much more than that."

As the group settled into a more relaxed atmosphere, they began to talk casually. Tanjiro listened intently as Masachika and Yuzuriha shared stories from their time as Demon Slayers. Yuzuriha, once ranked as a Kinoe like Masachika, had chosen to become a Kakushi after losing many of her close friends to demons. Her voice was soft, but there was a quiet strength beneath it as she spoke about her decision to leave active duty.

"I just couldn't do it anymore," Yuzuriha said quietly, her eyes downcast. "After losing so many… I didn't have the strength to continue. But Masachika… he kept going. He's stronger than I am."

Masachika placed a hand on her shoulder, his expression gentle. "Yuzuriha-chan, don't say that. You're strong in your own way. You chose a different path, but that doesn't make you any less brave."

Tanjiro, who had been listening with rapt attention, spoke up, his voice filled with admiration. "I think it's amazing that you're still helping, even if you're not fighting anymore. The Kakushi do so much for the Demon Slayer Corps. Without them, we wouldn't be able to keep going."

Yuzuriha smiled softly, her eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you, Tanjiro-kun. That means a lot."

The conversation flowed naturally from there. Tanjiro shared stories from his life as a charcoal seller, while Masachika and Yuzuriha regaled him with tales of their missions. Shinobu and Kanae chimed in every now and then, laughing at Masachika's exaggerated descriptions of his battles.

At one point, Masachika leaned forward, his expression turning serious. "Tanjiro-kun… are you planning to become a Demon Slayer?"

Tanjiro hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "I am. But I still have a lot of training to do before I can take the Final Selection. I don't want to rush into it unprepared."

Masachika smiled approvingly. "That's a wise decision. Training is crucial, especially if you want to survive in this line of work. But… something tells me you'll do just fine."

Tanjiro looked up, surprised by the confidence in Masachika's words. "You really think so?"

Masachika nodded, a knowing gleam in his eyes. "I've got a good feeling about you, Tanjiro-kun. You're strong, and not just physically. You've got the heart for this. And that's just as important."

Tanjiro's heart swelled with gratitude. To hear such words from someone as experienced as Masachika filled him with renewed determination. "Thank you. I'll keep training hard."

As the conversation began to wind down, the sun had fully set, and the sky was a deep indigo dotted with stars. The group exchanged their goodbyes, with promises to meet again soon. Masachika and Yuzuriha lingered for a moment, watching as Tanjiro, Kanae, and Shinobu disappeared into the mansion.

As they walked back towards their quarters, Yuzuriha sighed softly, a small smile playing on her lips. "Tanjiro is so adorable. He reminds me a little of you, Masa-kun."

Masachika chuckled, glancing at her with affection in his eyes. "I was thinking the same thing. Also, He's got that same kind heart… just like you."

Yuzuriha blushed slightly, nudging him playfully. "You're too kind, Masa-kun."

Masachika smiled, but his thoughts drifted back to the vision he had seen earlier. There was something about Tanjiro—something powerful, something that connected him to a future Masachika could only glimpse at the moment. He wasn't sure what it meant yet, but one thing was certain: Tanjiro's path was far from ordinary.

As they walked hand in hand, Masachika glanced up at the sky, his mind filled with questions about the future. Whatever lay ahead, he knew one thing for sure—he would stand by Yuzuriha's side, just as Tanjiro would fight for those he loved.
