As Team 7 walked towards the registration office to submit their Chunin Exam applications, a childish scream pierced the air. Naruto, recognizing the voice, immediately changed course, instinctively moving towards the source of the commotion. Sasuki and Sakura, confused by his sudden change in direction, exchanged glances but followed him nonetheless.
Naruto quickly spotted two slightly older Sand ninja. One was a girl with pale hair styled in four buns, wearing a pale lavender battle dress with visible fishnet stockings, and carrying a giant battle fan. The other was a figure clad in a black full-body outfit with the head covering featuring cat-like ears. Their face was heavily made up with purple and red war paint across the face. This second individual was grabbing Konohamaru by his shirt and was about to strike him.
Naruto suddenly appeared beside Konohamaru, his movements so swift that the Sand siblings were taken by surprise. He grabbed the cat-suited ninja's arm in a tight grip, effectively stopping the impending blow. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," Naruto said, his voice deceptively calm as he increased the pressure on the ninja's arm.
Kankuro, the cat-suited ninja, flinched and yelled, "Who the hell are you?"
"It doesn't matter," Naruto replied, his grip tightening. "That kid is the grandson of our Third Hokage. Unless you want to start a war, I suggest you release him."
Kankuro's face paled as he realized the gravity of his actions. He quickly dropped Konohamaru, who scurried behind Naruto for protection. Temari, the girl with the fan, face-palmed, exasperated by her brother's impulsiveness. *Of course, that idiot almost causes an international incident* she thought.
Naruto then released Kankuro's arm. He then sensed an oppressive aura emanating from the trees above. "Hey, you in the trees," Naruto called out, his voice carrying through the air. "Get down here."
Everyone looked towards the trees, their eyes searching for the source of Naruto's call. They saw a short, seemingly exhausted, child with dark bags under his eyes and a large gourd strapped to his back. He was perched upside down on a tree branch, his posture unnervingly casual. After being called out, the child disappeared in a swirl of sand, reappearing almost instantly in front of Naruto.
"Kankuro," the child said, his voice flat and emotionless, "you're an embarrassment to our village."
"But—" Kankuro started to protest, but was immediately cut off by the child.
"Shut up," he said, his gaze hardening. "Or I'll *reprimand* you." He then turned his attention to Naruto. "I apologize for my brother's behavior," he said, his tone slightly more respectful.
Naruto simply nodded. "Just make sure not to cause any more trouble," he said. "Save it for the exams." Naruto then turned to walk away.
"Mother says you're strong," the child called out after him. "What's your name? I'm Gaara."
Naruto turned his head slightly. "Naruto Uzumaki," he replied, and then continued on his way.
Upon hearing the name "Uzumaki," the Sand siblings froze. They had been warned about this particular individual by their father, the Kazekage. Apparently, he was already an A-ranked ninja, despite his young age. Temari blushed slightly, having gotten a good look at Naruto. *He's definitely a looker* she thought. *And he's strong too.*
Gaara, his expression shifting into a disturbing, unstable smile, murmured, "He will be the one… to prove my existence."
Kankuro, observing his brother's reaction, was surprised by the intensity of Gaara's interest.
As Naruto walked away, he sensed numerous chakra signatures discreetly observing him from the surrounding area. He made no indication that he had noticed their presence. These were shinobi from Iwagakure, Kirigakure, and Kumogakure, each team sent to gather information on him and assess his strength.
"So that's him, huh?" a red-haired girl with dark skin and golden eyes asked her teammate.
"Yes," the teammate replied. "That's him. He matches the description perfectly. He definitely looks strong." This was Yugito Nii, the Two-Tails Jinchuriki.
"Hmm," another girl, this one with blonde hair styled in a bob and… ample proportions, mused. "He seems pretty cool."
A dark-skinned guy with white hair started mumbling in paranoia, his words barely audible.
Their sensei, a large, dark-skinned man wearing shades, studied Naruto as he walked away. "That kid is very strong, Bee," the Eight-Tails warned his jinchuriki. "He comes from the fearsome Uzumaki clan. Never underestimate them."
Bee simply nodded, acknowledging the warning. "Listen up, team," he then rapped, his words laced with a warning. "Don't underestimate that kid, he's stronger than he seems. Fo' real!"
With the Iwagakure team, a girl with short black hair watched the interaction with a thoughtful expression. *So that was the Uzumaki heir, huh?* she thought. She had heard many stories about the clan's massacre from her father and grandfather, stories that were hard to believe. *The Uzumaki couldn't possibly be *that* strong, could they?*
Kitsuchi, sensing his daughter's doubt, said sternly, "Don't you dare underestimate him, or anyone from that clan. It will be your downfall. The same goes for you two as well," he warned his other two teammates.
The Kirigakure team, after observing the encounter, decided to return to their Kage to report what they had seen.
Team 7, meanwhile, had just submitted their Chunin Exam applications and were told to report to the Academy at 9 AM the following day. Naruto knew that ninja from all the major villages had come to participate, primarily to gather information on him and gauge his strength. He was determined to show the world the true power of the Uzumaki clan. Sasuki was extremely pumped for the exams, as was Sakura, though she still felt a flicker of nervousness.
Before they parted ways, Naruto spoke up. "Make sure you all get a good night's rest," he advised. "Tomorrow is when Team 7 will become infamous."
They all shared a fist bump, their excitement palpable, and then split up, each heading home to prepare for the challenges ahead.
As Naruto walked home, he could sense the buzz of excitement surrounding the upcoming exams. People were discussing the possible participants, speculating on who they thought would emerge victorious. Naruto heard his name mentioned among the higher-ranked ninja and foreign visitors who were familiar with the Uzumaki name. They were eager to witness the last heir of the legendary clan in action. The civilian population, however, seemed to have nothing but negative things to say about Naruto, a fact that confused the foreign observers. *Weren't the Uzumaki supposed to be a high-profile, highly respected clan?*
As Naruto walked, he noticed that many foreigners were staring at him with a mixture of fear and awe. *It seems my clan's reputation precedes me* he thought. He overheard snippets of conversation. "Look, look, it's the heir of the Uzumaki!" "It's the hero who saved an entire country from a tyrant!" Then, he heard some ninja whispering amongst themselves, "Hey, look, it's the kid who became the youngest A-ranked ninja! I can't wait to see him in action!"
Naruto suddenly felt a surge of pressure to perform well. It seemed that many people had high expectations for him. Everywhere he went, he was stared at, some people even taking pictures of him without his consent. He had no idea he was this famous already. He finally reached his compound and went to his home, seeking the familiar comfort and quiet of his own space.
The next morning, Team 7 made their way to the Academy, ready to show the world the might they possessed. As they entered the building, they noticed a large crowd gathered around the entrance to room 301. They saw Team Guy being seemingly bullied by some older Genin, but Naruto, sensing their true strength, knew they were merely putting on an act, feigning weakness to lull their opponents into a false sense of security.
Naruto and his team also noticed the subtle genjutsu subtly masking the true room number. They exchanged knowing glances and proceeded directly to the real third floor, bypassing the illusionary 301. Rock Lee, observing their discerning eyes, realized they saw through the facade and, intrigued, followed them.
As Team 7 walked down the hallway, Lee suddenly dropped in front of them, effectively blocking their path. "Naruto Uzumaki," Lee announced, his voice ringing with enthusiasm. "I have heard of your exploits. I challenge you to a quick spar!"
Naruto looked at Lee, his expression neutral. "We don't have time for this," he replied. "Maybe during the Chunin Exams." He attempted to walk past Lee, but sensed an incoming attack and, without even turning around, effortlessly blocked a powerful kick aimed at his head.
"I must insist," Lee persisted, his voice unwavering. "I will prove that hard work beats talent!"
Hearing this, Naruto felt a flicker of anger. This statement discounted all the hard work and sacrifices he had made to achieve his current strength. Naruto grabbed Lee's leg and swung him around forcefully before tossing him aside. Lee landed gracefully on his feet, his movements fluid and controlled. The rest of Team Guy watched from a distance, eager to see their teammate in action. Tenten had heard tales of Naruto's skill but wanted to witness it firsthand, while Neji simply wanted to analyze potential threats.
Lee rushed at Naruto, throwing another kick, this time aimed at Naruto's face. Naruto crouched low, avoiding the kick, and then went for a leg sweep, attempting to knock Lee off his feet. Lee, anticipating the move, jumped over the sweeping leg. While Lee was still in the air, Naruto suddenly appeared above him, delivering a sharp elbow strike to the top of Lee's head, sending him crashing back down to the ground. Lee was slightly dazed by the swift and powerful attack. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, but before he could react, he felt a sharp pain in his chin as Naruto's knee rammed into it, sending him flying backwards once more. *This guy is very fast* Lee thought, struggling to his feet. He prepared to unwrap the bandages from his arms, a prelude to unleashing his more devastating techniques.
Naruto, recognizing Lee's intentions from his readings on various fighting styles, decided not to give him the chance to unleash his full power. He rushed at Lee again and launched a powerful axe kick. Lee, caught off guard, stopped unwrapping his bandages and barely managed to block the kick. He winced in pain; the force of the blow felt like it would shatter his arms. Sensing Lee's momentary vulnerability, Naruto spun and delivered a sharp elbow strike to Lee's liver. Lee grunted in pain and, a few seconds later, dropped to one knee, completely winded.
"I'm sure you've seen enough of my strength," Naruto said, his voice calm and composed. "Good luck on the exams." He then waved casually at Tenten, having sensed her presence above them.
Sasuki and Sakura, having witnessed Naruto's incredible skill and power firsthand, were not surprised by the outcome of the brief spar. Lee, however, looked at Naruto's retreating back with a newfound determination in his eyes. To think that he, a taijutsu specialist, had been so thoroughly outmatched by Naruto, who had used only taijutsu to defeat him. *Looks like I have a new rival* Lee thought, his competitive spirit ignited.
Neji simply watched Naruto walk away, his expression unreadable.
"Wow," Sakura said, her voice filled with awe. "I can't believe that Lee kid tried to challenge you. He seemed pretty average. You beat him easily."
Sasuki nodded in agreement. There was no way that goofy-looking kid could have beaten Naruto.
Naruto shook his head. "No," he corrected them. "Lee is strong. He was holding back significantly. I felt heavy weights when I blocked his kick."
Sakura and Sasuki were surprised by this revelation. *Guess you shouldn't judge a book by its cover* Sakura thought.
They reached the designated room and found hundreds of participants already gathered. When they entered, the room fell silent as everyone noticed Naruto. Whispers about the team, and especially Naruto, began to circulate. "It's him, the last Uzumaki!" "Hmm, he doesn't look that special." "They say he slaughtered a hundred men alone."
The other Konoha rookies were confused by the sudden attention focused on Naruto. Why was he getting so much attention? And the name Uzumaki… was that a clan? The younger ninja of Konoha, due to deliberate misinformation spread by certain instructors at the Academy, knew nothing of the once-great Uzumaki clan.
Naruto ignored the stares and whispers, his focus unwavering. Sasuki, however, felt a flicker of anger at the dismissive glances directed at her. She was from an elite clan as well, and she wouldn't be ignored. Sakura, meanwhile, was unnerved by the sudden attention her team was receiving.
"Naruto!!!" Ino exclaimed, her voice breaking through the murmurs. "There you are! I didn't think you were coming!" She jumped on Naruto, wrapping her arms around his neck in a tight hug.
"Err… hello Ino," Naruto stammered, caught off guard by her enthusiasm. "It's nice to see you too."
Ino was suddenly and roughly pulled off of Naruto by Sakura, who glared at her rival. "Stop annoying him, Ino!" Sakura said, her voice sharp.
Ino smirked. "What are you, jealous?" she retorted smugly.
Sakura blushed, flustered by the accusation. "NO!" she protested. "I just don't want you sabotaging our team."
As Sakura and Ino bickered, Naruto approached the other Konoha rookies. "Hello, Hinata," he greeted warmly. "I see you've been training."
Hinata nodded shyly. "Yes," she murmured. "I've been working very hard."
Naruto nodded approvingly. "It looks like all the teams are here," he observed.
Kiba, his voice booming, declared, "HELL YEAH! Our team is gonna win this thing!"
Naruto shook his head slightly. Kiba had just put a huge target on his team's back.
"Kiba, you just made this harder for us," Shino said in his usual even tone.
"Man, this is such a drag," Shikamaru drawled. "I'd much rather be sleeping right now." Choji simply munched on his chips, seemingly unconcerned about the commotion.
As the rookies continued their conversation, they were approached by a tall Genin with glasses and silver hair tied in a ponytail. "You guys should quiet down," he advised. "You're drawing attention to yourselves." All the other teams were indeed eyeing the Konoha rookies, and Naruto in particular.
"Who the hell are you?" Kiba demanded.
"My name is Kabuto," the tall Genin replied. "I have lots of experience and thought maybe I could help you."
Naruto's eyes narrowed. He didn't trust this guy one bit.
"You've taken the exams before?" Shikamaru questioned.
Kabuto nodded. "Yes," he confirmed. "This is my seventh time."
Kiba burst out laughing. "Seven times? Wow, you must suck!"
Kabuto simply shrugged. "Maybe," he said. "Or maybe the exams are just that hard." He then pulled out a deck of cards. "I can use these to give you info on certain teams," he offered.
Sasuki, her interest piqued, spoke up. "I want info on the Sand team," she requested. Naruto was slightly surprised by her directness.
Kabuto pulled out three cards and channeled chakra into them. "The Sand team consists of three siblings: Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro," he began. "This team has completed seven C-rank missions, ten B-rank missions, and three A-rank missions, all performed by Gaara alone. Temari is a strong wind user who uses her battle fan to cast wide-spread jutsu. Her tactical mind is also something to be wary of. Her other attributes are high Genin level. Kankuro is a puppeteer specialist, known to have a variety of hidden weapons laced with poison. Last is Gaara, who has an impenetrable defense using sand. The scary thing is that he's never been injured. His attributes are pretty low except his ninjutsu, which is off the charts."
Sasuki narrowed her eyes, considering the information. The Sand team sounded very strong.
Kiba then spoke up. "What about Naruto Uzumaki?" he asked, his voice carrying through the room. Hearing this, most of the participants paid close attention, eager to learn what they could about the last Uzumaki.
Naruto Uzumaki:
Completed Missions: 250 D-rank, 26 C-rank, 10 B-rank, 1 S-rank
Clan: Uzumaki (Renowned as one of the strongest clans in history)
Status: Hailed as a hero in the Land of Waves for ending the tyrannical reign of a powerful despot.
Notable Feats: Defeated Zabuza Momochi in a heated battle. Single-handedly eliminated 100 enemy bandits.
Ninja Arts: High proficiency in all ninja arts, with fuinjutsu being his area of expertise.
Threat Assessment: Considered the most dangerous individual in the Chunin Exams.
Kabuto's revelation about Naruto's accomplishments stunned the rookie ninja. The foreign ninja, already apprehensive about facing the legendary Uzumaki, now felt a surge of unease.
"Alright, you bastards, take a seat," a tall man wearing a long trench coat ordered, his voice booming through the room. "The first test is about to begin. My name is Ibiki Morino, and I'll be your first proctor."
Naruto took his seat between Hinata and a girl from Kumogakure, whom he sensed was a jinchuriki. Ibiki distributed the exam sheets and explained the rules, his tone strict and unwavering. As the test began, Naruto quickly discerned the true purpose of the exam: not to test knowledge, but to assess a ninja's ability to gather information and make sound judgments under pressure. Thanks to his intensive studies, Naruto was able to answer the questions without issue. Sakura, having also studied diligently, could answer the questions as well. He noticed Sasuki activating her Sharingan to copy the pencil movements of a nearby examinee. Naruto also observed the creative, and sometimes desperate, methods other examinees were using to cheat. Naruto then wrote a note on the back of his exam sheet, detailing his suspicions about Kabuto's motives and behavior, and the information he had shared.
Many teams were eliminated during the first stage, caught cheating by Ibiki's sharp eyes and relentless questioning. As the hour drew to a close, Ibiki revealed the true nature of the final, "tenth" question. Hearing this, a significant number of teams withdrew from the exam, unwilling to take such a risk. The remaining teams, however, persevered, and Ibiki, satisfied with the results, announced that they had all passed the first stage.
Ibiki then explained the true purpose of the first test: to assess a ninja's ability to make difficult decisions under pressure and to gauge their willingness to persevere even when the odds seem insurmountable. Suddenly, the glass window shattered, and a scantily clad woman appeared, striking a dramatic pose. "It's me, the sexy and single proctor of the second exam!" she announced.
Ibiki looked exasperated. "You're early, Anko," he sighed. "Again."
Anko looked sheepish. "Sorry about that," she admitted. "I was a little excited." She then adopted a more serious demeanor. "Alright, you maggots, follow me to the next testing site!" she yelled, before jumping out the shattered window.
Naruto, without a word, approached his team and then body flickered them to the designated location. The other teams, witnessing Naruto's swift action, simply jumped out the window after Anko.
Anko, who was relaxing and eating dango, was surprised to see Team 7 arrive so quickly. However, upon realizing that it was Naruto's team, she understood. She had heard a great deal about this team, especially Naruto, and his reputation for speed and efficiency. Soon, all the other teams arrived.
Anko then explained the rules of the second phase of the Chunin Exams. "Welcome to the Forest of Death," she announced, a sinister grin spreading across her face. "This will be a five-day survival exam." Anko pulled out two scrolls, labeled "Heaven" and "Earth." "You will each receive one of these scrolls," she continued. "Your objective is to retrieve the opposite scroll and then report to the central tower. I have one word of advice…" she paused, her grin widening. "Don't die." She chuckled, clearly enjoying the nervous looks on some of the Genin's faces. She noticed that Naruto, however, remained completely unfazed by her dramatic pronouncements. She then grinned mischievously and chucked a kunai at him.
Naruto, sensing the projectile, simply flared his chakra, deflecting the kunai effortlessly. Anko then suddenly appeared behind him, wrapping her arm around his shoulder in a seemingly friendly gesture. "You know," she whispered in his ear, her voice laced with a playful threat, "it's the tough guys who end up worse off."
Naruto simply looked at her, his expression unreadable. "Hmm, we'll see about that," he replied calmly, showing no signs of intimidation.
"I've heard much about you, Naruto," Anko said, releasing him and stepping back. "Don't disappoint me." She then turned to the other Genin and began handing out the scrolls randomly.
Once all the scrolls had been distributed, the teams were assigned a gate through which they would enter the Forest of Death. A loud siren then wailed, signaling the start of the second phase of the Chunin Exams. All the teams rushed into the forest, eager to prove their skills and survive the perilous challenges that awaited them.
Team 7 moved swiftly through the dense forest, Naruto taking the lead, utilizing his enhanced sensory abilities to pinpoint the locations of other teams. Sensing a group ahead, he signaled his team to follow, leading them silently through the trees. They landed discreetly on a branch some distance away, observing a team of Rain ninja below. The Rain ninja, clad in their characteristic tan jumpsuits and gas masks, were huddled together, seemingly discussing strategy.
Naruto, without a word, forged a glowing purple bow from his chakra and nocked an arrow. Aiming with deadly precision, he released the arrow. The three Rain ninja, engrossed in their planning, were completely unaware of the approaching danger. One of them suddenly slumped to the ground, an arrow piercing his head, killing him instantly. The other two Rain ninja reacted with horrified surprise. Before they could react, another one had his spine severed by Sakura's precise Chakra Scalpel Jutsu, while the last one was impaled through the heart by Sasuki's swift Chokuto strike. The three Genin quickly searched the bodies, looking for anything of value. They found a scroll, but it was identical to the one they already possessed. Naruto took it anyway, reasoning that it might be useful for bargaining later. Sakura and Sasuki, though shaken by their first kills, knew that there was no time for emotional breakdowns. They had to focus on the mission at hand. Naruto, sensing another team nearby, gestured for his teammates to follow him, and they resumed their silent journey through the trees.
As they were tree-hopping, Naruto suddenly sensed a spike of powerful chakra. Reacting instinctively, he created two large chakra arms on his back and used them to forcefully throw Sakura and Sasuki away from the impending danger. He then forged a chakra shield to block the powerful wind jutsu that was hurtling towards them. While the shield held, protecting him from direct damage, the force of the jutsu still blew him backwards, sending him crashing into a nearby tree trunk. He landed feet first on a branch, his eyes scanning the area. He looked up to see a massive snake charging towards him, its fangs bared. Naruto swiftly performed a series of hand seals, yelling, "Wind Style: Sharp Gust Jutsu!" From his mouth, he unleashed a powerful gust of wind, laced with razor-sharp wind blades. The jutsu slammed into the giant snake, mincing it into countless pieces. The remains of the snake then poofed away, revealing it to be a mere clone. This confirmed Naruto's suspicions. He sensed a large chakra signature near his teammates and, without hesitation, body flickered to their location.
Meanwhile, Sasuki and Sakura were facing a terrifying opponent: a grotesque woman with snake-like features. "Hello, Sasuki," the woman hissed, her voice chilling. "It's nice to finally meet you."
Sasuki, surprised that the woman knew her name, demanded, "How do you know me?"
The woman chuckled, a dry, rasping sound. "Now, wouldn't that be telling?"
Sakura was visibly shaking with fear. The woman's presence was overwhelming, radiating an aura of menace. Sasuki felt it too, but she was better at masking her fear than Sakura. They were both worried about Naruto. He had taken that powerful wind jutsu head-on. Sasuki then watched in horror as the woman swallowed her scroll whole. She then noticed that Sakura was paralyzed with fear, unable to move. Thinking quickly, Sasuki grabbed Sakura's hand and ran as fast as she could, hoping to put some distance between them and the terrifying woman. Believing they had escaped, Sasuki stopped running and dropped Sakura's hand. They were both still terrified, their hearts pounding in their chests. Suddenly, a pair of massive snake eyes opened in the trees above them. Sakura and Sasuki jumped away, throwing shuriken at the giant snake. The shuriken, however, bounced harmlessly off the snake's thick scales. From the snake's mouth, the same grotesque woman emerged, her laughter echoing through the trees. "Kukukuku," she cackled. "You didn't think you would get away that easily, now did you?"
Sasuki took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart and focus her mind. She knew they had to fight. Seeing Sasuki's resolve, the snake woman was amused. Sasuki activated her Sharingan, her eyes glowing crimson, and rushed at the woman, drawing her chokuto. She swung her sword, but the woman blocked the attack with a kunai. Sasuki spun around, attempting to slice at the woman's head, but the woman bent unnaturally, contorting her body to avoid the blade. She then kicked Sasuki away with surprising force. Sasuki recovered quickly and charged at the woman again, her movements lightning fast. They engaged in a rapid exchange of blows, Sasuki using her sword and the woman wielding her kunai. Sasuki went for a stab, but the woman dodged the attack. The snake woman then unleashed a devastating combo, striking Sasuki repeatedly and sending her flying backwards.
Suddenly, a series of explosions rocked the area around the snake woman. Sasuki, having subtly planted explosive tags on the woman earlier in the fight, had finally triggered them. Jumping to her feet, she performed a shuriken jutsu she had learned from her older sister, Itaia. Sasuki threw multiple shuriken, each attached to nearly invisible ninja wire, entangling the snake woman and pinning her to a nearby tree. Sasuki then performed a series of hand seals, yelling, "Fire Style: Dragon Fire Jutsu!" She then spewed a torrent of flames that traveled along the ninja wire, engulfing the snake woman in a fiery inferno. The woman screamed in agony as the flames burned her flesh.
As the jutsu dissipated, Sasuki breathed heavily, the battle having taken a significant toll on her. Sakura rushed to her side, offering healing support. Both girls, however, were deeply concerned about Naruto's whereabouts. Suddenly, they heard chilling laughter. "Kukukuku, interesting. You have very keen eyes, as expected of one such as you. I'll give you a gift for entertaining me." The woman's neck elongated grotesquely, stretching towards Sasuki. She bit Sasuki's neck, leaving behind a three-tomoe curse mark. As the woman retracted her neck, she was suddenly struck by a powerful fist, surrounded by an even larger, more solid fist made of chakra. The woman was sent flying through five trees, the force of the blow immense.
Naruto, having heard Sasuki's scream of pain, jumped to her side. "Sakura, what happened?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Sakura, visibly shaken, answered, "That creepy woman bit Sasuki's neck and left a mark. I'm not sure what it is."
Naruto quickly created a shadow clone to carry Sasuki. "Follow my clone," he instructed Sakura, his voice urgent. "And don't look back."
Sakura protested, "I'm not leaving you with her! She's too strong, even for you, Naruto!"
Naruto, driven by the primal instinct to protect his precious teammates, snapped, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE! I KNOW WHAT I'M UP AGAINST!" His voice was harsh, a tone Sakura had never heard him use before. She was taken aback, but understanding that his outburst stemmed from his desire to protect them, she took no offense. Sakura followed the clone, praying with every step that Naruto would come back to them alive.
Once they were gone, Naruto turned his attention towards the snake woman. "Orochimaru," he said, his voice cold and resolute. "I know it's you. Cut the act."
Orochimaru giggled, the sound sending chills down the spine. "So you're the Uzumaki causing a stir, huh?" he said. "Let's see if you live up to the hype." Orochimaru then charged at Naruto with incredible speed.
Naruto was prepared. He blocked a right-handed strike and then ducked under a kick aimed at his head. He rose, launching a jumping uppercut, which Orochimaru caught effortlessly. But the Naruto in his grip smiled, a flicker of electricity in his eyes, before exploding in a burst of lightning. This was his Lightning Style: Exploding Clones Jutsu. Orochimaru, however, had used a Body Replacement Technique to avoid the blast, narrowly escaping the attack.
Naruto sensed Orochimaru behind him and jumped forward, dodging a swarm of snakes that were trying to grab him. While still in the air, Naruto spun around and threw wind-laced kunai. The kunai multiplied into fifty projectiles, raining down on Orochimaru. Orochimaru flipped through the air, dodging the kunai with ease. Suddenly, one of the kunai transformed into Naruto himself, who unleashed a point-blank explosion. Orochimaru, caught off guard, was unable to evade the blast and was sent flying towards the ground. He landed on his feet, though, his expression one of gleeful excitement. "Interesting, Uzumaki," he hissed. "Show me more!" He then charged at Naruto once again.
They locked in a high-speed taijutsu battle, their movements a blur. Orochimaru, with his snake-like style, fought with unnatural flexibility and fluidity, while Naruto countered with his unpredictable Uzuken style, a blend of power, speed, and acrobatic maneuvers. Naruto backstepped, avoiding a kick aimed at his midsection, before lunging for a takedown. Orochimaru sidestepped the lunge, his movements almost preternatural. Naruto, losing his balance, pushed off the ground with both hands, launching a spinning dropkick. Orochimaru blocked the kick with both arms. As Naruto's feet made contact with Orochimaru's arms he placed a paralysis seal on them. He then flipped back to his feet and activated the seal. Orochimaru froze mid-run, his body stiffening. Naruto seized this opportunity to deliver a devastating blow. He created a light purple Rasengan and slammed it into Orochimaru's face. *BOOOM!* The raw power of the Rasengan was unleashed, and Orochimaru's headless body was sent flying.
Naruto watched the body fall, but he knew it was too easy. He sensed that the real Orochimaru was still alive. Sure enough, another Orochimaru emerged from the body, shedding his skin like a snake. Orochimaru licked his lips, his eyes gleaming with anticipation, before charging at Naruto once more.
Naruto created a hundred shadow clones, sending them to attack Orochimaru relentlessly. Orochimaru, drawing on his vast experience, elegantly dispatched the clones, each movement precise and deadly. He stabbed one clone, which then exploded, showering him with sparks. He jumped away, but was still singed by the blast. "So he mixed exploding clones in with his normal shadow clones," Orochimaru mused, a smirk playing on his lips. "Very clever. I have no idea which ones will explode." Orochimaru then jumped high into the air, performing a series of hand seals. "Fire Style: Snake Bite Jutsu!" he yelled. A giant snake made of fire erupted from his mouth, hurtling towards the mass of clones. The jutsu caused a massive explosion of fire, dispelling all the clones in its wake.
The real Naruto, however, suddenly appeared in front of Orochimaru, aiming a precise finger strike at a pressure point on his chest. Orochimaru, anticipating the attack, caught Naruto's hand. He then kneed Naruto in the gut before punching him, sending him crashing into a nearby tree. Orochimaru walked towards Naruto, but was suddenly weighed down, his movements slowed significantly. This was one of Naruto's inventions, a technique he called the "Gravity Barrier." It was a barrier within which gravity was multiplied, making movement incredibly difficult for those trapped inside. Naruto, however, had a counter-seal on his body, rendering him unaffected by the increased gravity.
Naruto, taking advantage of Orochimaru's slowed movements, performed a series of hand seals. "Lightning Style: Dragon's Roar!" he yelled. Lightning covered his body before taking the shape of a majestic dragon and shooting towards Orochimaru. Orochimaru screamed as his body was fried from the inside out by the powerful lightning. Naruto then performed more hand seals. "Water Style: Water Ball Jutsu!" He launched a ball of water at Orochimaru, which further amplified the power of the lightning, making the attack even more devastating. Orochimaru's body lay on the ground, smoking and convulsing. But just as Naruto was about to approach, another Orochimaru emerged from the body, shedding his skin once more. "This kid is simply magnificent," Orochimaru hissed, his voice filled with admiration. "I'll have to give him my gift as well. But no more holding back."
Orochimaru disappeared in a burst of speed and kicked Naruto high into the air. He then released a swarm of snakes from his arms, which grabbed Naruto and slammed him into the ground, creating a large crater. Naruto screamed in agony. He then channeled lightning chakra through his body, electrocuting the snakes and forcing them to release him. From Naruto's back, four light purple chakra chains erupted, shooting towards Orochimaru. Orochimaru, with his unnatural flexibility, danced around the chains, avoiding them with ease. *So he's already unlocked the Uzumaki bloodline* Orochimaru thought. *Let's see how far he's come with it.*
Orochimaru rushed at Naruto, who quickly created a chakra dome to defend himself. Orochimaru's fist slammed into the dome, but was unable to break through. Naruto then caused the dome to shatter, sending high-speed shrapnel in all directions. Orochimaru dodged the shards, but the area around Naruto was shredded. Naruto then created his infamous four chakra arms. In the hands of these chakra arms, he formed four chakra swords, one in each hand. He then channeled wind chakra through the swords, enhancing their cutting power, before swinging them and launching four crescent-shaped wind blades at Orochimaru. Orochimaru dodged the wind blades, which sliced through numerous trees. Naruto then rushed at Orochimaru, attacking him relentlessly with his four wind-enhanced chakra swords. Orochimaru could only dodge, finding no opportunity to counterattack. Naruto spun rapidly, using his extra arms and swords to become a literal twister of death, a whirlwind of blades. Orochimaru jumped back as Naruto effortlessly shredded through the surrounding trees. The swords then shifted into long spears, which Naruto threw at Orochimaru. Orochimaru dodged all of them and then summoned two giant snakes. The two giant snakes lunged at Naruto, their massive jaws snapping shut. Naruto, reacting swiftly, flipped backward, creating two shadow clones in mid-air. The clones, acting as decoys, allowed themselves to be swallowed by the snakes. Inside the snakes' bellies, the clones detonated in twin explosions. *BOOOOM! BOOOOM!* The explosions sent chunks of snake flesh scattering in all directions.
Orochimaru, using the distraction created by the explosions, launched a surprise attack on Naruto from behind. Naruto, however, sensed the attack just in time and narrowly avoided a powerful wind jutsu. While he was still airborne, a long sword suddenly erupted from Orochimaru's mouth, piercing Naruto through the side. The unexpected attack caught Naruto off guard, and he felt the agonizing sting of the blade, followed by the rapid spread of a potent poison through his system. He knew he only had one move left, a desperate gamble.
Mustering the last vestiges of his chakra, Naruto created a thousand exploding shadow clones, surrounding Orochimaru on all sides. He then body flickered away to a safe distance before detonating all the clones at once. *BOOOOOOOOOOM!* The resulting explosion was astronomical, a cataclysmic burst of raw power. Examinees miles away felt the shockwave, the heated wind from the blast scorching their skin. The very ground beneath their feet shook violently, as if an earthquake had struck. The various teams in the Forest of Death were now terrified. A ninja with that kind of destructive power participating in the Chunin Exams? The implications were chilling.
Orochimaru, despite his cunning and resilience, was unable to completely escape the devastating blast. He had managed to take refuge inside one of his giant snakes, but even that protection wasn't enough. He still sustained significant damage. In the area where the explosion had occurred, a massive, smoking crater now scarred the landscape. The trees surrounding the blast zone were either burning fiercely or had been completely obliterated, leaving the area resembling a meteor impact site.
Naruto, having expended all his remaining energy, had passed out from exhaustion and the adrenaline crash. While he was unconscious, four light purple chakra chains erupted from his back, instinctively creating a protective barrier around him, shielding him from further harm.
Orochimaru, on the other hand, was in extreme agony. The giant snake had absorbed the brunt of the explosion, but it wasn't enough to completely protect him. Orochimaru was missing his lower half, his body severed at the waist, and he was left with only one arm. His remaining body was covered in blood and burns, a testament to the sheer destructive power of Naruto's final attack.
Orochimaru, barely clinging to life, performed a desperate skin-shedding jutsu, the last reserves of his chakra strained to their limit. He panted heavily, the effort having taken its toll. "That Uzumaki kid really lives up to his name," he rasped. "Too bad I couldn't mark him. His body, combined with Sasuki's Sharingan… I would have been unstoppable." Orochimaru licked his lips, a flicker of his old ambition returning. "I'll have to keep an eye on the Uzumaki. He's definitely piqued my interest."
Meanwhile, the Kumogakure team, having secured their required scroll, were hurrying towards the central tower, eager to finish the second phase as quickly as possible. They wanted to avoid encountering whoever was responsible for that massive explosion. Even those still within the village had felt the tremors. Furniture shifted, and glass vibrated from the shockwaves. Hiruzen, recognizing the spike of chakra as belonging to Naruto, was deeply worried. *Who the hell is he fighting to warrant an attack like that?* he thought, an uneasy feeling settling in his stomach.
Back at the Uzumaki compound, Karin trembled, her senses overwhelmed. She had felt the intensely potent chakra from Naruto's battle with Orochimaru. While she didn't recognize Orochimaru's chakra, she instantly knew Naruto's. She had become addicted to his chakra; it was so powerful and intense that it made her senses go haywire, giving her a feeling of extreme euphoria. But now, feeling his chakra spike during the battle was almost too much to bear, like overdosing. After the massive explosion, his chakra settled, leaving her craving more.
Jiraiya, sensing the immense power involved in the battle, was on guard. Whoever Naruto had fought was clearly dangerous. Tsunade was extremely worried, her heart pounding in her chest. She could only hope that Naruto was alright. Kimiko, though outwardly emotionless, was tempted to rush into the forest to check on Naruto, but she knew she couldn't interfere with the exams.
Team Asuma was terrified. The huge explosion had put them on edge. "What the hell was that?" Ino yelled, her voice filled with fear.
Shikamaru, unusually serious, replied, "Whatever that was, I don't want to find out. Let's get to the tower as quickly as possible."
"I agree," Choji said, his voice trembling. "Whoever did that has to be really strong."
With Team Guy, Neji was on his knees, his hands covering his eyes. He had been staring in the direction of the explosion when the chakra spike had blinded him. His eyes felt like they had been burned by staring at the sun. Tenten had never seen her teammate like this. She didn't think chakra could be so powerful as to blind a dojutsu user. Whoever was responsible had to be incredibly strong. Lee, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation, was crying about how that was the "explosion of youth." Hinata was in the same boat as her cousin, though her reaction was less severe. She had to stop to recover for a moment.
Kiba's nose was filled with the scent of scorched earth and burning wood. Shino was annoyed; he had lost a bunch of bugs he had sent out due to the explosion.
The Iwagakure team, having found the scroll they needed from a deceased team, were the closest to the blast site and were thrown back by the shockwave. "What the fuck was that?" Kurotsuchi yelled, her ears ringing.
"I don't know," her huge teammate answered, "but it sounded scary." Their skin was stinging from the heat of the blast. "Let's get the hell out of here," Kurotsuchi said. "This place is crazy."
The Kirigakure team was already at the tower when the explosion went off. "Thank God we made it before that," Chojuro said, his voice filled with relief.
The Kumogakure team, noticing a purple glowing dome in the distance, went to investigate. What they saw surprised them. Inside the dome was an unconscious Naruto Uzumaki, covered in blood and bruises. He looked like he had just come from a war zone. They had thought he was supposed to be one of the strongest participants in the exam. Who could he have fought to end up like this? Was he involved in that huge explosion? They tried to approach, but the dome of chakra stopped them. Yugito tried shooting fire at the dome, but the flames dispersed harmlessly around it. She tried stabbing it with her kunai, but the blade shattered on impact. She wanted to check on him, but the barrier made it impossible. *How the hell can he maintain a barrier while unconscious?* she wondered.
Omoi spoke up. "There's nothing we can do. That barrier makes it impossible. Let's go to the tower." Karui nodded in agreement, and they jumped away.
Sakura, still tending to an unconscious Sasuki, heard the sounds of battle as Naruto fought the mysterious woman. She was worried for Naruto, and her worry intensified after hearing and feeling the massive explosion from his direction. After that, there was complete silence. *Is the battle over?* Sakura thought, her heart pounding in her chest. She prayed that her teammate was alright.
Naruto slowly regained consciousness. His rapid healing had worked wonders, but he still felt lingering pain. He didn't know if he had killed Orochimaru or not. He knew he had to get back to his team. As he crossed the devastated explosion site, he noticed a bloody scroll lying on the ground. He grabbed it; it was the scroll he needed. He sealed it away and continued towards his team's location.
Sakura, exhausted from her sleepless vigil, remained on guard, determined to protect Sasuki. She then spotted a team from the Hidden Sound Village descending from the trees. One was a girl with very long black hair, another looked like a mummy, and the third had spiky brown hair and unusual headgear. "Step aside, girl," one of the Sound ninja said. "We are here to kill Sasuki."
Sakura immediately went on guard, placing herself protectively in front of Sasuki. "I'm not letting you get to her," she declared.
The mummy-like ninja chuckled. "So be it," he replied. He then rushed forward, channeling chakra into the amplifiers on his arms. Reaching Sakura, he unleashed a barrage of pure sound attacks. He watched as she dropped to her knees, seemingly defeated. "Hmmph, weak little girl," he sneered.
Suddenly, Sakura and Sasuki dispersed into a flurry of pink Sakura petals. "Genjutsu!" the Sound ninja realized. "Release!" He flared his chakra, attempting to break the illusion, only to be struck on his leg and arm by Sakura's chakra scalpels, severing major tendons. She then threw a powerful overhand right, hitting him squarely in the nose, sending him flying.
The other two Sound ninja were surprised. They had underestimated the "pinkette." Sakura, her chakra scalpels still active, took a fighting stance, ready for the next attack. Zaku, the brown-haired ninja, charged his chakra and unleashed a sound attack towards Sakura. She dodged the blast, but then Kin, the long-haired girl, pelted her with small needles. "Ahhhh!" Sakura screamed in pain, falling to the ground. Kin approached Sakura, confident in her victory, but Sakura suddenly shot up, stabbing Kin in the leg with a poison-laced senbon. Kin felt drowsy before collapsing unconscious.
Zaku, seeing his teammates defeated, decided to grab them and retreat. This mission was a complete bust. Sakura, though exhausted, was immensely proud of herself. She had held her own and protected Sasuki. She then fell forward in exhaustion, only to be caught by a pair of strong arms. The last thing she saw was a pair of striking purple eyes. Naruto had arrived just as Sakura had dispatched Kin. He was incredibly proud of Sakura for her bravery and skill. He caught her as she fell, his expression filled with pride. Naruto then created a shadow clone to carry Sasuki before heading towards the tower.
Gaara's team was the first to arrive at the tower. On their way, they had encountered a team of umbrella-wielding ninja, whom Gaara quickly dispatched. He wanted to continue his rampage, but was convinced by his siblings to refrain from further unnecessary killing. While at the tower, they had felt and heard the massive explosion. Gaara was excited; whoever was responsible had to be strong, a worthy opponent. His siblings, however, were worried that Gaara would lose control.
Naruto finally made it to the tower. He immediately unsealed his medical seals and placed them on both girls' chakra points. Their bodies were enveloped in a green healing chakra for about five minutes, completely healing all their bruises, cuts, and other injuries. Both girls woke up, disoriented and confused about their surroundings. They then saw Naruto and hugged him in relief and gratitude. "NARUTO! I'm so glad you're okay! I was so worried!" Sakura exclaimed.
"Thank you for saving us, Naruto," Sasuki said, her tone more restrained but equally sincere.
"No need to thank me," Naruto replied, his voice gentle. "You two are precious to me. I'll always protect you." Both girls were touched by his words.
Naruto then opened both the Earth and Heaven scrolls before tossing them towards the center of the room. In a puff of smoke, Iruka appeared. He was taken aback by the state of the team. "Good job, you guys," he said. "You pass the second exam. But what happened? Are you okay?"
Naruto spoke up before the girls could. "No time, Sensei. I need to talk to the Hokage. It's extremely important."
Iruka was confused. "I'm not allowed to do that during the exams, but I can take a message."
Naruto sighed. "Tell him that I encountered Orochimaru and engaged him in the forest." Iruka and his team were shocked by this revelation.
"Is that who that creepy woman was who attacked us?" Sasuki asked.
Naruto nodded. "That's correct. For some reason, he was disguised. If I had to guess, he was targeting you, Sasuki, since he placed some sort of mark on you." Hearing this, Sasuki was filled with fear. Why was Konoha's most dangerous missing-nin after her?
Iruka immediately left to inform the Hokage. Sakura looked at Naruto. "How the hell did you survive a battle with a Sannin?" she asked, her voice filled with awe.
"By fighting smart and fighting as hard as I could," Naruto replied. "I was being toyed with until the end, when I launched my final jutsu."
Sakura's eyes widened. "Are you telling me that explosion was your attack?!" she exclaimed.
Naruto nodded.
Sakura shook her head in disbelief. Just how strong was he?
Suddenly, a weasel-masked ANBU appeared and took Naruto away. They reached the Hokage's office, where Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Hiruzen were waiting. Tsunade glomped Naruto, overjoyed that he was safe. Jiraiya patted him on the back.
"Tell me everything," Hiruzen ordered seriously.
Naruto recounted the entire encounter with Orochimaru. When he finished, everyone looked at him in disbelief. Naruto had managed to surpass their expectations once again. Hearing about his battle with Orochimaru was astonishing. That he was able to seriously injure him multiple times was incredible, whether Orochimaru was holding back or not. No kid should be able to fight a Sannin and give them trouble. Just when they thought they had a good grasp on Naruto's strength, he continued to prove them wrong.
"This is extremely concerning," Hiruzen said. "We have to tighten our security and keep a lookout."
Naruto asked, "What about the exams?"
Hiruzen thought for a moment. "We'll keep them going," he decided. "I don't want to cause panic and make things worse. You have two days to rest until it's over. Go; you deserve it."
Naruto bowed and walked out.
"So what do you think?" Jiraiya asked.
"If I had to guess," Jiraiya replied, "he's after the Sharingan. His purpose is to master every jutsu. The Sharingan can help exponentially with that goal."
Hiruzen and Tsunade agreed. "We'll have to check on Sasuki after the preliminaries," Tsunade advised. "That curse mark could be affecting her."
Both men nodded. Hiruzen dismissed his students. He had a lot to think about.
