Today was an average day after classes for Deku. As per tradition, chores were delegated amongst the Class 1-A students to be done around the dorms, and today, he was washing dishes. He didn't mind too much, though. After all, this was really small potatoes compared to all the villain attacks he'd faced. Once the dishwasher was finished, he took out all the dishes, glassware and silverware, and then put it into its proper places, letting out a contented sigh when he was done.
"Another chore done! Now I can relax!"
"Hey Deku…"
Deku spun around and saw Todoroki standing behind him.
"What's up, Shoko?"
"I'm hearing this odd noise coming from outside. Do you hear it?"
Deku put his cupped hand up to his ear and heard a rhythmic bass sound.
"Yeah, why don't we go check it out?"
"OK."
When Deku and Todoroki went outside, they found Ashido breakdancing in the front yard. Her boombox was playing "Critical Beatdown" by the Ultramagnetic MCs. When the song was done, she stopped dancing and hit the "PAUSE" button.
"Hey Ashido, those are some unusual dance moves you've got there," said Todoroki.
Ashido brushed her hands together. "What, never heard of breakdancing before? You were there when I taught the whole class how to dance!"
Todoroki smiled. "Breakdancing, huh? Looks pretty complex, but I think I can do it if I try."
Ashido giggled. "Hey, if you're willing, I'll let you try!"
"Please do!"
"OK, here goes…"
Ashido put the music back on, this time playing "O.P.P." by Naughty By Nature. First, Todoroki did a simple hip shake before proceeding to do a basic two-step for a few beats, and when the song "dropped a load on 'em", she proceeded to get down to full-blown breakdancing, much to Ashido's amazement:
"OH MY DAMN CHERRY BLOSSOMS!* I CAN'T BELIEVE TODOROKI IS BREAKDANCING! SHE'S TOTES AWESOME!"
Deku smiled. "She's very talented!"
Todoroki mixed in various other moves, and by this time, attracted by the sound, other UA students came outside to see what all the commotion was about, and when they saw Todoroki breakdancing, they just couldn't help but react:
"HOLY CRAP!" exclaimed Yaoyorozu. "I had no idea Todoroki was that talented!"
"She is très talentueux!" said Aoyama.
"Hell yeah!" Kirishima pumped his fists. "Break it down, Todoroki!"
"Wow, she dances even better than Jiro!" said Kaminari.
Jiro slapped Kaminari on the back of the head.
"HEY! What was that for!?"
Jiro laughed. "Yeah, well at least I don't dance like Elaine from Seinfeld!"
"WHY, I OUGHTA…"
In the meantime, other students took notice of Todoroki's dancing skills:
"Fascinating," said Tokoyami. "I had no idea Todoroki could breakdance."
"She sure can!" said Sero.
Hagakure bounced around. "I wish I was as talented as her!"
Todoroki danced around to other old-school rap hits such as "Bertha Butt Boogie" by the Jimmy Castor Bunch, "Genius Rap" by Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and "Road to the Riches" by Kool G. Rap & DJ Polo. By the time the tape got to "The New Rap Language" by Kool Moe Dee and the Treacherous Three, Todoroki stopped dancing and paused the tape. When everyone gave her a hearty round of applause, she took a bow. Deku approached her:
"Shoko, that was GREAT! How did you even learn to breakdance?"
"Well, I observed the dance team as much as I could during the concert at the School Festival, plus watching Ashido breakdance, and I just tried my best from there."
Kirishima gave a thumbs up. "Well, ya really did do your best! You and Ashido could be on one of those talent shows on TV!"
Todoroki giggled. "Oh Kirishima, you flatter me!"
Kirishima put his hand on Todoroki's shoulder. "Hey, I'm just givin' credit where credit's due! That's one of the manliest things a guy can do, right?"
Deku smiled. "It's not just a manly thing, it's a heroic thing."
Kirishima smiled. "Good point, Midoriya!"
Todoroki giggled. She figured that breakdancing could become her new favorite activity.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
