Title: Guilty

Summary: After Kim insults a friend, Jack and her have a big fight, and Kim storms off. When the Black Dragons get caught in the mix, Kim refuses to betray her friends. Note: they are 17 but not dating and Jack has already met Mr. Crawford.

Authors note: Here's the deal: I have like 30 different Kickin' It stories written, but most of them are nowhere near done or publishable, they are just ideas I have from time to time and this is the only fandom I really write for. I can get one-shots done much faster than long stories so I've decided to stop publishing them separately. Like I said last chapter, all these one-shots have to do with Kick (but not necessarily the whole "only stories where the guys protect Kim" or whatever I originally proposed). However, they are not necessarily connected in one storyline so keep that in mind. They are their own stories. From now on, I'll post a summary at the beginning of each chapter so you don't have to read every story if you don't want to. Thanks!

"Okay Joan, describe your ideal future 10 years from now," Milton asked. The gang was at Phil's for a special party. Phil had closed his shop from the general public so the group could celebrate Joan's most recent promotion after catching a big-time robbery from the electronics store across the mall. Of course, she'd had a little assistance from the rest of the Wasabi Warriors who had led them away from Phil's restaurant, but ultimately she was the one to stop the thieves.

Kim, on the other hand, was getting rather irritated. Joan had been trying to set her up with Jack for ages and even during a robbery she didn't relent. Sometime while the thieves were sneaking around, Joan tried to push Kim out in the open so that Jack would have to come and save her. Joan knew better than that. She had seen Kim's karate skills before. But she had also seen Jack's. She had reasoned that Jack was a proud and strong young man who needed a nice young lady to save. Thus, Joan took matters into her own hands to make a damsel out of Kim.

Kim had heard enough of "Mr. Kicky-kicky-chop-chop" efforts and angrily stormed away from the scene. Only now, they were back together with Joan pursuing her efforts once more.

"Oh, you know, one day I'd like to settle down with a strong man who isn't afraid of stepping up and saving the little guy. Maybe we'd have a kid, a dog for sure, and we'd live out our days on a large piece of land out in Nebraska where the cows don't stop mooing as long as they're pooing," she dreamed. Then, she gave Kim her knowing smirk as she turned her vision to Jack. "And maybe one day my husband can give Kim a few tips on honing that hunk of muscle known as Jack," Joan said with a smirk. Jack laughed nervously and nodded.

Kim rolled her eyes. "Please, Joan. Like that would ever happen. Hon, if you aren't married by now, I don't think it's going to happen. I mean, think about it. You couldn't even keep Phil as your husband-Phil! And that was for pretend!" Kim joked. She humorously looked at the rest of the group and her smile faded. It seemed her joke did not come off as amusing.

Milton, Jerry, and Rudy all froze where they sat. Phil seemed taken aback by his unwilling inclusion of the insult. Jack froze as well, with a look of shock and disbelief. Joan seemed hurt. She wasn't usually one for taking things to heart, but she had been enjoying the small party with the people that brought her the most joy. She saw so much of herself in Kim and just wanted Kim to be happy, she was like the niece she never had.

Kim looked down awkwardly, not knowing what to do now that the mood was spoiled.

"It's getting late, I should head home," Milton said, standing up and quickly thanking Phil and congratulating Joan. Jerry followed him out as well and Phil helped Joan up and offered to walk her back to her new office, trying to repair his relationship with her. Rudy left to go to the dojo to clean up.

Kim pushed her tray to the side as she stood up. She sighed and made her way to the dojo. When Kim walked in, she ignored Rudy's staring and went straight for her bag. She grabbed it quickly and headed for the door.

When she turned around, she saw Jack entering the dojo. Jack started to walk towards Kim but Kim just ignored him.

"You know that was a real jerk move back there, Kim," Jack said as he got closer to Kim.

Kim kept ignoring him and tried to walk past him to the door.

"Get back here, Kim," Jack commanded. His voice was firm and if it had been another time, Kim might have thought it attractive. She didn't want to listen, but his tone was harsh enough for her to at least stop.

"What?" she asked, still not turning around.

"Don't give me that attitude," Jack growled. He reached out and grabbed Kim's arm, yanking her back and in front of him so he could look at her face.

"Let go," Kim grunted. She tried to walk past Jack but he tightened his grip on Kim and drug her further into the dojo. She cried out in protest but Jack ignored her as he pushed her down to a bench.

"What were you thinking?" He finally hissed. "Why did you say that to Joan?"

"Look, all I said was the truth! She is so obsessed with my love life and I just want her to leave me alone!" Kim reasoned. "Come on, you know she gets pushy!"

"Yes! Maybe she does, but that doesn't give you the right to belittle her at her own party!"

Jack had started pacing in front of Kim as he talked. He was getting worked up and had to channel his anger somehow.

"Look, Jack, it was just a joke!" Kim defended. "Maybe it came off a little harsh, but at least she knows to back off now!"

Jack stopped and stared Kim down. "Don't give me that crap, Kim."

Kim rolled her eyes. "Jack, I thought you were my friend! If you were my friend, you wouldn't be yelling at me for making a joke that didn't play out! You'd be supporting me!"

"I am your friend, and that's why it's my job to let you know when you've crossed a line!" Jack insisted. "And I am not yelling at you!"

"You may as well be!" Kim shot back angrily. She hated it when they fought. Both of them were beyond stubborn and neither backed down from a fight.

"Fine!" Jack shouted. "You want me to yell at you, I'll yell at you!" Jack wasn't wrong when he said he wasn't yelling before, but he was now. Kim had never heard him yell like this before and it scared her. She jumped back a bit but Jack was too fired up to notice or care.

"I always wondered how a girl like you could ever be a Black Dragon, but now I see!" Jack yelled. "You're just like them!" he hissed. "You have no regard for anybody's feelings and only do what you feel like doing even if it means you hurt innocent people!"

"Jack-"

"No, Kim! It's true!"

Kim stood up suddenly and tried to stop Jack's pacing so she could talk to him. She reached out her hand to touch his arm and looked up at him. "Jack-"

Jack grabbed Kim's wrist so fast she hardly had time to consider that Jack could easily hurt her right now. "Kim," Jack growled. "You know what you did was wrong. If you deny it one more time and refuse to take accountability, I can't promise I'll be able to control myself." With one final huff, Jack threw Kim's wrist aside and turned around.

Kim opened her mouth to speak again and started as if she was going to follow Jack. Rudy, who had been watching the entire thing, decided to step in. He put his arm in front of Kim to stop her from following Jack. Rudy knew Jack had self-control, but mad-Jack was pushing the limits of holding himself back. He couldn't let Jack hit Kim for either of their sakes.

"Rudy," Kim started.

Rudy put his hand up to stop Kim. "No, Kim. Jack is right. You really screwed up. I want you to take the rest of the week off and think about what it means to be a Wasabi Warrior." With that, Rudy shook his head and walked back to his office, leaving Kim all alone.

Even Rudy was mad at her. Jack was mad at her. Kim knew she had been wrong, but she was just so fed up she let it slip out, and then her stupid pride had to get in the way and now Jack hated her.

The realization that Kim had screwed up big time hit her like a ton of bricks. She had been unreasonably rude and had only made it worse when she defended it in front of Jack and Rudy. Kim felt her face burn and the tears rush down her face.

Jack was right, Joan didn't deserve what Kim had said. Joan had only ever wanted to help Kim and they were supposed to be having a good time together. She felt beyond guilty, but what hurt the most was what Jack said. You're just like them, he said. A Black Dragon. Rude, dominating, bullies. And Jack believed her to be all that.

Even when Kim was a Black Dragon, she never liked to participate in anything unkind. She knew the merits the dojo had in skill, but after that fateful day at the tournament, she knew the Black Dragons had crossed a line she swore she never would. That's why she quit. She wished Jack had hit her, now. It would be so much better than having to live with being viewed so low by her best friend.

Kim let out a frustrated cry and rushed out of the dojo before anybody saw. She wasn't embarrassed to be crying, she just felt incredibly guilty and didn't want anyone to think anything worse of her for making a show for pity.

Once Kim was out of the courtyard, she started to walk slower. Jack had given her a ride to the mall earlier so she didn't have a car and she told her mom she wouldn't need a ride home either. She kept walking and walking, letting herself wallow in guilt as she kept crying. She walked until she reached her destination and plopped down on a bench outside. She wiped her face and looked up at the Black Dragon sign above the building she was in front of.

She thought back to her days as a Black Dragon. Before, she'd only remembered the intense training. Ty was tough on her, but it helped her get better. She had gotten her black belt and become one of Ty's best students. But now as Kim remembered her early training, she saw her days filled with deceit. She was never a bully, but she never stepped in when the other Black Dragons were teasing and taunting others. When she fought, she was always focused on herself and doing whatever she could to make the opponent lose.

When Kim joined the Bobby Wasabi dojo, she quickly adjusted to the Wasabi code and she completely forgot her old ways. At least, she thought she did. But maybe Jack was right. Maybe she never changed.

Kim's thoughts were interrupted when the dojo doors in front of her opened and 4 or 5 Black Dragons walked out. "Well, well, well," Frank chanted. "What do we have here?" Frank stalked towards Kim and the others began to circle her like prey.

Kim looked up at Frank but didn't say anything. She looked back down as she tried to wipe the tear stains off her face.

"It looks like the Bobby Wasabi dojo sent a little spy!" Frank declared to the others. "Bring her in, boys," Frank commanded.

Two Black Dragons advanced on Kim and before she could do anything about it, they grabbed her arms and forced her into the dojo. Frank walked in behind and came around to face Kim, noticing her swollen eyes for the first time.

"Aww, is somebody crying? Are you scared, little Kimmy?" Frank teased.

Kim just ignored Frank's comment, not feeling up to her usual snarky comebacks.

"Well boys, what should we do with the little spy?" Frank asked the others. "Lock her up?" Frank looked to Kim for some kind of reaction but she just continued to look down. "Beat her up?" Again, Kim hardly moved. "No, I've got the perfect idea," Frank said, smiling. Kim looked up curiously and was taken aback by the look on Frank's face.

"I'm not spying," she said as if obvious. "I was just thinking."

Frank and the others just scoffed. "And why were you sitting right in front of our dojo?" He demanded.

Kim sighed. "Because I was thinking about… the old days," Kim admitted.

Frank then smirked. "The old days?" he questioned. Kim nodded as she kept her gaze down. "You mean when you were a Black Dragon," Frank realized. Then he started to laugh. "Boys! Little Kimmy has finally come running back! Guess who wants to join us!"

The other boys began laughing as well, eyeing Kim as she uncomfortably shifted, still being loosely held by two guys.

"No," Kim insisted. "I didn't want to join, I was just thinking. I'll never join you. You don't know a single thing about honor or respect."

"She's just being shy," Frank informed the others. "But don't worry, me and Kimmy have a special connection." Frank leered at Kim and she had to avert her gaze quickly before she gagged. "I know exactly what she means. She wants to join and we will gladly welcome her back!"

Kim was a little confused, she had already said she didn't want to join and she had outright insulted the Black Dragons, not to mention the past 3 years she had spent with the other Wasabi Warriors foiling the Black Dragon's plans. Why would they want her back?

While Kim was thinking, she hadn't even noticed that one of the Black Dragons had gone to the back and was walking over to her with a small Black Dragon's gi. He handed it to Frank who held it out to Kim. "Put this on. You're one of us now," Frank said.

Kim scoffed. "I'm not putting that on."

Frank scrunched you his face in anger and Kim found it amusing that she could still have that effect on him. "Boys!" he spat as he threw the gi towards them. "Put it on her!"

The others did as they were told and held Kim tight as they forced her body into the gi. To prevent her from taking it off, they got a belt as well and tied it as tight as they could.

"Ow! Stop! That's too tight!" Kim complained.

"Perfect!" Frank commented, enjoying the pain he was causing after Kim's hurtful comment. "Now…" he sneered. "Now that you're one of us, you will do as we say. Newbies fall to the bottom of the chain of command which means you must do as you are told."

"I'm not a Black Dragon!" Kim growled.

"So," Frank continued, ignoring Kim again. "The first thing you have to do is share all your Bobby Wasabi secrets."

"We don't have any secrets, Frank," Kim sighed.

"Yes, you do! How do you keep winning! How come Jack gets invited to all the fancy tournaments and we don't? We have more black belts!" Frank yelled.

"Maybe that's because Jack is actually good!"

Frank growled in anger and threw a punch at Kim, who just barely dodged it. The two guys holding her tightened their grips so she wouldn't be able to dodge any more blows but luckily Frank seemed to have calmed down.

"Listen here you little rat!" Frank hissed. "You better drop the attitude before you get hurt!"

Kim rolled her eyes at that, not easily swayed by Frank's threats, which earned her a punch to the gut.

"As I was saying! You will do as I say. Tonight, you have three tasks you must complete to be initiated. One, you will share all of Bobby Wasabi's secrets; two, you will steal something from a store to present to us; and three, you will sabotage your friends for the tournament next weekend," Frank explained.

Kim shook her head. "No, I won't do any of that! It's wrong!"

"You will do it if you don't want to get hurt," Frank growled.

"I won't betray my friends and I won't break the law," Kim insisted.

Frank shook his head in disbelief. "I will give you one last chance, Kimmy. Do what we say or you'll be sorry."

"I'll be sorry if I turn into one of you. I won't do it."

"Fine!" Frank yelled. "Break her arm," he said casually as he turned and walked to the back.

"What?" Kim asked nervously. The other Black Dragons approached her and she tried to move but two held her steady. "Let me go!"

"You brought this on yourself, Kimmy," Frank sang as he watched from a distance.

He gave a nod to the boys and they threw her to the ground. One had a bo staff and started swinging it around, causing Kim to roll around on the ground to avoid being struck. Other boys started to kick her as she rolled and she finally pushed herself back to her feet.

She began to defend herself but because she was so severely outnumbered, she was only able to hold most of the boys back. While she wasn't looking, one grabbed her torso and wrapped an arm over her right shoulder and the other around her waist. He held her flush to his body so Kim couldn't move her torso and another grabbed Kim's right wrist, yanking her arm straight out and holding it there.

She saw the boy with the bo staff get closer, eyes trained on her extended arm. "No," she whimpered, trying to get free. "Please! Don't!"

The boys just smirked and Kim squeezed her eyes shut as the bo staff descended on her arm. Kim heard a snap and for a second thought the bo staff had broken, but when she realized she was laying on the floor with a swelling red arm, it occurred to her that the snap was her own arm.

At first, she didn't feel the pain. When a Black Dragon tried to pick her up by her arm, then she felt it. And it hurt. She screamed in pain and the Black Dragon holding her simply adjusted his grip and hoisted her in the air.

Frank stalked over and grabbed Kim's wrist, squeezing until Kim couldn't hold back the tears. "Don't you ever think you're better than us again. See you at the tournament!" Frank laughed as he walked away and the boy holding Kim threw her out the dojo doors. Kim landed on her arm and cried out again, but nobody who was around cared. She rolled to her side and pushed herself up with her good arm, wanting to get away from the dojo as soon as she could.

She wasn't sure exactly what she was going to do because she didn't really live close enough to walk all the way home from the Black Dragon's dojo. Especially not with a broken arm.

She was closer to the mall, so she decided to head there instead. When she remembered why she had gone to the Black Dragon's dojo in the first place though, she realized she didn't have any friends at the mall anymore. Knowing it was still a familiar place where she could sit and wait for her mom to pick her up, she headed back towards the dojo.

When Jack left the dojo after yelling at Kim, he drove to the skate park. He tried to skate, but mostly he just thought about Kim.

Why had she said those awful things? Kim wasn't a mean girl, he knew that. Maybe he had been a little harsh on her, but she was so unlike herself, it made him angry. He just wanted the nice Kim back.

After a while, Jack just sat on a bench on the side, not feeling up to skating but also not feeling up to going back home either. He pulled out his phone and didn't realize what he was doing until he opened his text conversations with Kim and just stared at her picture. It was from a tournament a year before, Rudy had offered to take a picture of them since they had done so well. Right before Rudy took the picture, Jack had tickled Kim. The picture Rudy got was of Jack smiling down at Kim who was doubled over laughing so hard her eyes were shut.

Jack smiled at the memory, deciding he was willing to do whatever it took to get the old Kim back when his phone started buzzing. It was Mrs. Crawford and Jack briefly wondered if Kim had told her mom what happened and maybe she was calling to scold him for yelling at her daughter. However, when Jack answered the phone, Mrs. Crawford did not sound mad, but worried.

"Hello?" Jack asked.

"Jack? Is Kim with you?" she asked.

"No. I haven't seen her for a while. Did she not come home?" Jack wondered.

"No. She told me she'd be home an hour ago and I tried to call her about 20 minutes ago but she didn't answer her phone. I called Rudy but he said she left the dojo right after you so I was hoping she was with you," Mrs. Crawford explained. "Kim is never like this. If she stays out longer than she thought, she always lets me know."

Jack sighed. Mrs. Crawford was right, Kim was always responsible like that. Jack guessed she was probably just upset about the whole Joan fiasco and had run off somewhere to think as he did. But, he liked Mrs. Crawford and as mad as he had been at Kim, he still cared about her safety. "I'm sure she's just fine, Mrs. Crawford. But I can go look for her, just to be sure," Jack offered.

"Oh, would you?"

"Of course, Kim is my friend. I'll call you when I find her," Jack said.

"Thank you, Jack."

"No problem. Bye."

Jack hung up and sighed. He thought about where Kim might have gone. He always went to the dojo to cool off and he knew Kim went there too. But she had stormed off from the dojo so she wouldn't be there still.

He decided to call Kim first, maybe she just didn't see her mom calling earlier. After a few rings, Kim answered the phone.

"Hello?" Jack noticed how pained Kim's voice was as if she had been crying. That was almost expected after their fight, but that was hours ago, had she been crying that whole time?

"Kim? Your mom called and said she was worried about you when you didn't come home. Where are you?"

Kim sniffed and looked around. "On Warner Avenue," she answered simply.

"Are you just leaving the mall?" he asked, confused. That particular street was near the dojo but she was probably about a 5 or 10-minute walk from the mall.

"No…" she sniffed again and Jack had to wonder why she was crying still. "I was actually going back…"

"Back?" Jack couldn't keep the confusion out of his voice. Kim didn't elaborate though. "Don't you want to go home?"

"I was just going to call my mom and ask her to pick me up once I got there," Kim answered sheepishly.

"Well, that's dumb. I can just pick you up," Jack said.

"I-I don't want to bother you, Jack," Kim answered, trying not to sound needy or get on Jack's bad side.

"You already became a bother when you didn't call your mom and let her know where you were. I'm coming to pick you up," Jack stated. He didn't wait for an answer as he hung up and walked to his car, making his way to the street Kim said she was on.

A few minutes later, he was driving much slower and looking for Kim on the sidewalk. He spotted a girl up ahead wearing a red shirt and cradling her arm and slowed down. The closer he got, he realized it was Kim and that she was wearing a Black Dragon's gi. He pulled over and parked by Kim, stomping out of his car towards her.

Kim looked up and noticed Jack and his angry demeanor and slightly cowered, an action Jack didn't miss.

"Kim?" he questioned. He tried to reach out to touch her but she hugged her arm closer and took a step back. "What's wrong?"

Kim just looked down instead and Jack saw more tears fall. She couldn't stop herself as the fear and pain and longing built up inside. Kim started to cry harder and she tried to hide her face from Jack, but it was no use. He could easily tell she was crying.

He walked up to her and wrapped an arm around her, stopping when she whimpered.

"Kim, what happened?" he asked sternly.

Kim looked up into Jack's eyes and saw his genuine concern for her, confused how he could still care about her after what she had done.

Jack asked again and Kim wiped her face. "M-my arm. The Black Dragons b-broke my arm."

"What?" Jack asked in disbelief.

"I-I was sitting outside the dojo and they dragged me in and put their gi on m-me and then th-they broke my arm."

Jack untied Kim's belt and carefully helped her slide the gi off her arms and then took her broken arm in his hands. It was swollen and red and bruising and very clear that something had struck her arm near her wrist. Every time she moved it, even slightly, Jack saw her wince.

"Kim, this is awful," Jack said. "Why didn't you tell me on the phone?"

"It didn't come up?" Kim answered quietly.

"This should have been the first thing you told me, Kim. You need to get this checked out right away. Come on, I'll help you in the car and we can call your mom."

Kim nodded and Jack opened the door for Kim and helped her buckle so she wouldn't have to use her hurt arm. He made sure she was as comfortable as she could be before getting in the driver's seat.

He called Kim's mom to let her know he found Kim but then informed her of Kim's condition and its severity. Jack suggested they take her in right away and offered to drive straight to the ER. Kim's mom agreed and said she would meet them there and thanked Jack for watching out for Kim.

Jack explained the plan to Kim and soon enough, they were at the hospital and Kim was getting X-rays while Jack and her mom were in the waiting room. Mrs. Crawford had called her husband and Jack texted Rudy, telling him who was behind the injury as well.

The doctor came out to let Mrs. Crawford know Kim's arm was indeed broken. Apparently, it was a displaced fracture, which meant they needed to move the bone back in place to let it heal. They would have to put Kim under anesthesia but luckily they wouldn't need surgery. They allowed Kim's mom back while they adjusted Kim's arm to put Kim at ease before they sedated her.

Jack was left alone in the waiting room and though he could have gone home at this point, he didn't feel right leaving just yet. Mr. Crawford showed up while Kim and Mrs. Crawford were still in the room and spotted Jack.

"How is she?" he asked.

Jack shook his head. "Not sure, I haven't seen her since we got here. But she's tough. She didn't even tell me her arm was broken when we were talking on the phone, only when I could actually see it did she tell me."

"Is it bad?"

"Well, the bone wasn't sticking out," Jack said, as if good news. "But, it looked bad. Super swollen, weird colors, she could hardly breathe without wincing every time her arm moved slightly up or down."

Chuck nodded understandingly. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, but clearly it hurt a lot. "Was she crying?"

Jack knew why Chuck was asking. Just like Jack, he couldn't bear to see Kim cry. She hardly ever did so when the tears did fall, it was serious. "Yeah, she was," he admitted.

Chuck nodded and the pair sat in silence the rest of the time, waiting for Kim to come out. When she finally did, she looked really tired and was leaning on her mom for support. She had a sling on and shuffled over to her dad.

When they were finished hugging and Kim had adequately told her dad she was fine, Kim looked to Jack. Her mom pulled Chuck away and left the two alone for a minute. Jack helped Kim sit down and then sat next to her.

"How are you?" Jack finally asked.

"I'm okay. The doctor said it's too swollen to cast it yet, but I have to come back in a few days. I-I won't be able to do karate for a while. I'm going to miss the tournament next weekend. I'm so sorry, I know you guys were counting on me," Kim apologized.

"Kim, you were attacked. The Black Dragons broke your arm. You couldn't have prevented it."

Kim nodded. "Thanks, Jack." She stayed quiet for a minute before speaking again. "And I'm sorry. For what I said to Joan earlier. It was completely out of line and I let my pride get in the way of admitting I was wrong. And then I yelled at you and we fought it and it was just the worst."

"I-is that why you were by the Black Dragons?" Jack suddenly realized. "D-did you try to join them because you thought we wouldn't want you in the dojo?"

Kim quickly shook her head. That was the opposite of what she was doing there. "No! Jack, I would never join the Balck Dragons, I promise. I was just there thinking, that's all."

Jack nodded, but something else still didn't make sense. "So, why did they break your arm?"

Kim sighed. "Because I said I wasn't going to do what they told me to do."

"What did they tell you to do?"

"They wanted me to steal something from a store to display as some kind of trophy and share all our Bobby Wasabi 'secrets' and then betray all of you for the tournament next week. I didn't even want to join the Black Dragons and there was no way I was going to break the law or lie or hurt my friends," Kim explained.

Without saying anything, Jack gently pulled Kim into his arms. "Kim, I'm so sorry I said those things to you. I shouldn't have said you were like the Black Dragons. You're not. You're nothing like them. I'm so glad you're back," he said, finally pulling away.

"So you're not mad at me anymore?" Kim asked.

Jack shook his head. "No, I'm not."

"Good," Kim said. "I need your help. I need to make it up to Joan and the others and I can't do it alone."

Jack smiled and ruffled Kim's hair. "There's my girl."

"So, what do you have in mind?" Jack asked curiously.

"Well, I was thinking I could make a cake for everyone and apologize; you know how much they all love food," Kim explained.

Jack chuckled. "I do."

"And for Joan, of course, she can have cake too, but I was thinking of something else…"

After Jack and Kim's talk, Kim's parents took her home and Jack went to his house. The next day, the gang, including Phil, all went to the dojo per Kim's request. She had called Rudy earlier, apologizing beforehand and asking permission to come to the dojo so she could apologize more formally. Rudy agreed, glad that Kim was feeling better, having heard about her arm.

When the guys saw Kim, they immediately noticed her arm. Jack had only told Rudy so the others were completely unaware that she had been hurt.

"Kim, what happened to your arm?" Milton asked.

"Yeah, why is it in a swing?" Jerry said, chuckling to himself a little. He reached out to pull Kim's arm up so he could watch it 'swing' but stopped when he heard Kim hiss in pain.

"It's not a swing, Jerry. It's a sling. My arm's broken," she said. She looked at Rudy who stood up and walked over so she was facing everyone. Jack was standing with them as well, even though he'd already heard the sorry speech. "Anyways, I wanted to tell you all that I'm sorry. Yesterday I was being mean and unreasonable and I hurt one of our friends. I'm sorry you had to see that, and I was hoping you could forgive me?"

Jerry scoffed. "Yeah, like it's that easy-"

"I made a sorry cake," Kim offered.

"We forgive you!" Jerry, Milton, Phil, and Rudy said immediately. They raced to the cake and dished themselves out big pieces while Jack and Kim chuckled.

"So Kim, how did you break your arm anyway?" Milton asked.

"Well, after me and Jack fought-"

"You guys had a fight? And we missed it!" Jerry asked.

"Yes," Kim answered. "Anyways, after our fight, I went to sit outside the Black Dragon's dojo just to think. But then Frank saw me and they brought me inside and tried to get me to join. I told them I wasn't interested and…"

"They broke your arm?" Milton finished sympathetically.

Kim nodded.

"Rudy, can't you do anything about this?" Jack asked.

"I tried yesterday after you texted me, Jack. The tournament officials said the Black Dragons involved would be prohibited from the next 3 tournaments but because Ty wasn't there, the dojo itself doesn't have any kind of punishment," Rudy said.

"Well, why don't we just go over there right now?" Jerry suggested. "Give 'em a piece of our mind!"

"In my country," Phil began. "When your rival breaks one of your friend's arms for not doing what they say, we have a customary revenge practice. We will need six goat hooves and nine gallons of llama urine that has sat for four months and two weeks."

"Thanks, guys. But Jack and I have something else to do. We'll be back soon," Kim said.

She looked to Jack who sighed and followed Kim out the dojo. Once Jack caught up to Kim, she slipped her hand in his and he smiled. They made their way to Joan's office and were glad when she was there.

"Oh! Kim, Jack. What can I do for you two youngsters? Catch any criminals lately?" Joan asked.

"Uh, no," Kim said. "Actually I came to talk to you about yesterday. You know, your party."

"Oh. Well, what about it," Joan asked, obviously avoiding mentioning Kim's rude comment.

"Well, I wanted to apologize. What I said was completely out of line. I'm sorry," Kim said.

"Out of line, maybe," Joan agreed. "But I can't say it was completely uncalled for. You're right, Kim. I don't know anything about love. I just pretend and I've messed with your life more than I should have." Joan lowered her head, feeling bad about pressing Kim so much about finding love.

"Actually…" Kim said, causing Joan to look back up. Kim held Jack's hand tighter and held it up so Joan could see it over her desk. "You weren't wrong about Jack and me. We're going on a date this afternoon."

It took Joan a moment to process the information but when she did, she screamed and cheered, jumping out of her chair. "Oh! That's great news! You two are going to be the hottest- Kim, what happened to your arm?" Joan asked, noticing Kim's sling for the first time.

"Oh," Kim said, blushing. "I broke my arm yesterday."

"Well, that's too bad… But hey! It looks like you'll be needing a Prince Charming to carry your things and follow you around! I'm sure Jack here is up to the task! Oh, I can see it so clearly! What a perfect day!" Joan started to dance around the room and soon she began to sing. Something about love and perfect couples and happily ever after.

Jack just gave Kim a look and she burst out laughing. Soon Jack joined in and they followed Joan out, heading off on their first date as Joan spread the word to the entire mall.

"Oh! Miracles do happen! And the love dove has struck our very own mall! Come one, come all! Come and see, the two love birds who will forever live happily!"

I'm just going to say this once but, no promises that I'll update with more stories (although it's very likely I'll post at least a few more). Feel free to leave any suggestions though. At the risk of sounding like a broken record (sorry I just wanted to use that phrase it sounds so mature), no promises that I'll write them but maybe I'll incorporate them into some other stories. It doesn't hurt to try! Thanks for reading!
