When the slayer was pregnant with another baby and Rin was old enough to date he returned and stayed close by and visited more often. He would have to approve someone for Rin.
"Io, how long do you plan on sticking around," Inuyasha asked one night when they were cooking fish.
"As long as it takes Inuyasha," Kagome had long ago snapped at him to stop calling him half-breed in front of the children, it was for their sake, not hers that he obliged her request.
"Psh better build the bastard a hut, he aint never leaving,"
"Inuyasha," Kagome wanted "He is being a dad, leave him be,"
"Oi what's what mean?"
Kagome looked up at her husband "What does what mean?"
"Are you trying to say something Kagome?"
She was confused,
"Um, that he is just being protective, he only wants the best for Rin" She then turned and smiled at him "Isn't that right?"
Inuyasha settled down "Yeah well, knowing him that ain't no one but himself, why dont you marry her?"
Kagome's mouth hung open "You, you dont?
"Do not be insane Miko, Rin is my ward,"'
"Psh, plenty of demons take women they knew as kids," Inuyasha said,
"Not I Inuyasha, she pledged or loyalty to me and while I protect her I did not and will not pledge mine to her."
Inuyasha looked at this brother hard and to Kagome they were suddenly in a straring contest.
"Um, did I miss something?"
"No," Inuyasha stood up "Im going to bed,"
Kagome sat for a moment looking at the fire "I did miss something didnt I?"
Sesshoamru stood, yes, but he wasn't about to tell her "I will retire, rest Miko, the salyer will give birth tomorrow,"
He left her and that night she didnt sleep, suddenly something didnt feel right.
The next day true to his word Sango did go into labor, this time with a little boy.
"It's a boy, It's a boy!" Rin and the three-year-old twin girls said dancing around Sesshomaru, funny, they should all fear him, yet he stalled in his walk when they danced around them so as not to hurt them. Inuyasha was far off, he hated this stuff and the smell of the blood.
Kagome came out of the hut holding a bundle in her hands. She was looking down at the baby with a flushed face "Hello there, do you want to meet your sisters?"
Kagome came forward and knelt before him and the little girls came closer and with awes, Sesshomaru could literally feel the motherly hormones of all of them, but what got him, was her.
She was a mess, but she glowed. She stood and still looked at the baby and smile on her face and it hit him, that look on her face, he knew what it was, it was longing. She had a bad habit of faking a smile, and while the others and his brother may have been fooled he was not.
The woman wanted a baby and bad. He didn't understand it, she was natural at it, taking in even those who were not her own and as she stood there in a glow he decided she looked, beautiful.
How could his bother be such a fool, deny her, her womb of something she seemed so desperate to have? How could Inuyasha claim to care or even love her if he didnt give her a baby, it was her right and her want. It was so strong, the feeling unnerved him for some reason.
Mindset, he would speak to the half-breed. She would make a good mother and if his blood had to be diluted then at least he would be ok with it being mixed with hers, she was no weak human, she carried his name and she would carry on the line, do doubt the story of her life would never fad from their history and he had no future plans to mate at the time, plus, like all humans, time was not on her side.
