So…we're already moving onto season 3. Mostly because I'm finally paying off something I set up a while ago. But let's begin!

Sonia was pretty sure this was the second most exciting moment of her life.

Nothing would ever top her adoption, but finally becoming a Kids Next Door operative was easily a close second. Sure, the day started with her getting turned into an animal and then her friend Tommy had to quit the Kids Next Door in order to turn them all back to normal, but at least she got to be in a sector with Lee! And her other friend Paddy was in the sector too! And besides, she could still hang out with Tommy when not in the middle of Kids Next Door stuff. And he got to keep his memories, so he'd still remember all their adventures.

"Isn't this so cool, Lee? Uh, I mean Numbuh 84," Sonia asked her friend, having to remind herself to now use the codenumbuh of her friend instead of his name.

"Yep!" Lee agreed. "And you can still use my name. We're not on a mission,"

"I know, but I feel like we have to use it, since we're in the Kids Next Door now!" Sonia admitted. "But if I can use your name, then you can still use mine!"

"Cool," Lee simply replied in a way that made Sonia smile.

"Hey Numbuh 83, mind if Numbuh 5 talks to you?" The older operative asked as she walked over. Sonia could tell she was holding something behind her back.

"Uh, sure!" Sonia replied eagerly and tried to keep from getting too excited and freaking out. Numbuh 5 was a legend! She was one of the members of Sector V! She was part of the reason Sonia wanted to be a Kids Next Door operative in the first place.

"So Numbuh 5 doesn't know if you know this, but your sister used to be an operative," Numbuh 5 revealed, causing Sonia to gasp.

"Really?" Sonia asked in awe.

"Yeah. One of the best," Numbuh 5 said in a fond tone. It was then she revealed what the object she was hiding behind her back was-a scrapbook. She then held it out to Sonia with a smile. "Before she got decommissioned, she made this and told me to give it to you if you ever become an operative. She really wished she got a chance to serve with you."

"Cool…" Lee, who was looking over Sonia's shoulder, commented. Sonia merely nodded her head. Firecracker was already one of the coolest people she knew, but the fact she was a Kids Next Door operative even cooler! Sonia moved to open it up and found a small flash drive tapped to the inside of the front cover.

"Heh. Didn't know she left that in there," Numbuh 5 admitted. "But Numbuh 5's gotta go. Hope you enjoy that!" With that, Numbuh 5 headed off, leaving the two younger operatives to look through the book.

"C'mon Lee! Let's go find somewhere to read this!" Sonia said excitedly. Lee had no objections, letting Sonia drag him off to a quiet section of the Moonbase. Paddy, their sector leader, had to take care of something, so they had some time before they got to see their new treehouse. Finding a small hallway, the two sat down and began to thumb through the book. Just about every page only increased Sonia's admiration of her older sister. She recognized several of the explosives that Firecracker had invented, but never managed to connect Numbuh 451 to Firecracker. Several of the pictures also had Firecracker posing with other former operatives, many of which Sonia and Lee had learned about during their time in KND training. Heck, she even seemed to be close with the legendary Sector Z!

"Hey, Sonia?" Lee asked as they neared the end of the book.

"Yeah, Lee?" Sonia replied as she turned to look at him.

"...You wish you got to be in the Kids Next Door with Firecracker?" Lee asked after a couple seconds.

"...Yes. I'd have loved to serve with her. Bet it would have been really fun," Sonia admitted as she looked over another picture of Firecracker posing in front of a burning building.

"Hey Sonia! How was your hangout with Lee?" Rose Baros asked as her youngest daughter walked into the house.

"It was a lot of fun," Sonia replied as she held her newfound scrap book to her chest as she headed upstairs to her room. As cool as the scrapbook had been, she was dying to see the message that Firecracker had left behind for her. Once she was inside her room, she quickly shut the door and pulled out the flashdrive, hoping the contents had survived the four years they'd spent…wherever Numbuh 5 had kept the book. Much to her joy, almost as soon as she put the flash drive into her computer, a video began to play. A hand was covering part of the camera, clearly trying to make sure it was on.

"...hope this is recording," A voice said. Once the hand was removed, Sonia could clearly make out Numbuh 451. Her own sister. "Hey Sonia. If you're watching this, that means two things. The first is that you've finally joined the Kids Next Door! And let me just say congrats! I always saw that fire in your eyes and I knew you could do it!"

"Really?" Sonia couldn't help but ask. Firecracker was able to tell even when they first met? And when Sonia was pretty much scared of everything that so much as looked at her the wrong way?

"But the second thing means that I've been decommissioned," Firecracker continued, reminding Sonia about the video. "And considering my plan was to give this to Numbuh 5 for safekeeping day of, that also means I didn't run. So I guess take solace in knowing I wasn't a traitor." This got Sonia to smile again. She knew Firecracker would never betray the Kids Next Door! Sonia knew she'd be a hero to the end. "And while I would love to tell you about all my adventures in person…I'm not a kid anymore. Well, I guess I still AM but by the time you watch this…dang I'll be sixteen! Probably be a teenage jerk or something like that."

"But…you're not a jerk…" Sonia said sadly. She knew about the stereotype that all teens were jerks but Firecracker was always so nice to her! And she did birthday parties and stuff! How could that be a jerk? "Although…I guess you knew you wouldn't remember the Kids Next Door."

"Or maybe I'll get lucky and be one of the few teens that doesn't suck," Firecracker said with a chuckle, which got Sonia to smile. She didn't know how right she was. "But if I am a teenaged jerk who joined the Teen Ninjas and tries to torment you…just know that Numbuh 451 loves you. She loves you A LOT. In fact, she loved you from the moment you set foot in this house, okay?" Firecracker was clearly beginning to tear up, something she quickly tried to hide by brushing them away. "Shit. Was trying really hard not to start fucking crying. Promised myself I wouldn't."

"...Guess you cursed back then too, huh?" Sonia noted in amusement. Her parents had told her repeatedly that she shouldn't repeat what Firecracker said and while she was better about it, sometimes words would still slip out when she got really angry.

"But I'm gonna just tell you this now. Being in the Kids Next Door? It's really hard. And really scary at points too," Firecracker warned the camera/Sonia. "I've…I've lost a lot of friends, especially in these last few months. I'm not sure if you remember Sector Z, but I brought them over a lot. Heh. Mom and dad were actually considering adopting them too. You would have loved having them as big siblings."

"That would have been cool…" Sonia admitted to no one in particular. Considering what she heard about Sector Z, growing up with them and Firecracker as her big brothers and sisters sounded like one of the best childhoods imaginable. She idly wondered what happened to Sector Z as Firecracker continued.

"But…no matter how hard things got…I never even considered giving it up," Firecracker admitted as she rubbed her arm. "These have been the best seven years of my life and I hope they're the best part of your life too! In fact, I've only got one regret…and it's never getting to serve with you. So I'm hoping that what I left for you is enough to show you how awesome your big sister was. Wish I could see this, just to remember how young I was, but I know it won't mean anything to me." With that, Firecracker held her hand out, her palm facing the camera. Almost instantly, Sonia knew what to do and placed her own hand over Firecracker's. "Love you sis. Hope you get to see this."

"...I love you too," Sonia replied as the video came to an end. She quickly removed the flash drive and, after stashing it and the scrapbook in her desk drawer, headed off to go find Firecracker, who she discovered in the living room, playing video games. Without even pausing, Sonia lunged at her big sister, pulling her into a massive hug.

"Woah! What's this for?" Firecracker questioned as she quickly paused the game she'd been playing. The last thing she needed was to lose all her progress on the level she'd been struggling with.

"You're so cool," Was all Sonia had to say as she buried her head in her older sister's stomach. Firecracker then cracked a smile. She knew exactly what was going on now.

"Heh. You could stand to say that a little more often," Firecracker replied as she returned the hug. She was so happy that Sonia knew had a better understanding of the legacy that she hailed from.

And maybe, just maybe, she'd be able to help Sonia out from the shadows one day.

C'mon! You really think I wouldn't show Sonia's reaction to that scrapbook, did you? Next time…well, it is spooky season! See you then!
