What were the odds of two people with different life settings to meet in the same place at the same time?

Although highschoolers tend to be outside during the weekend in order to chill and hangout after a long tiring week, Mayuzumi Chihiro, however, didn't prefer that. He would rather be at home everyday if he could, far from the crowd and blazing sun outside. On the other hand, Hotaru had too many things to do especially in the weekend to be bothered going out.

Yet, there they were.

Mayuzumi was outside, aiming to check some new releases at the bookstore. Of all time and day, he just happened to do it in this moment.

And then, there she was too, similarly, on the other side of the crossroad.

It was not the first time he had seen her in casual attire, but this one was different. She looked like a simple girl on her Sunday day out and not some attendant of one extravagant person. For sure he was thinking of something before but now, it all disappeared.

All his attention was caught by a girl that wasn't even aware of his presence among the crowd.

She seemed alone, just like him. Both were waiting for the pedestrian light to turn green.

The agenda was simple for Mayuzumi, visit the bookstore located on the other side of the road. Yet, as soon as he noticed her, he stopped. He didn't even move despite the awaited green light.

For some unknown reason, he was frozen, gazing at the girl whom he believed wouldn't even realize. It shouldn't be. That was the norm of his existence after all.

Black hair bounced gracefully. Eyes shifted forward. Hotaru followed the strangers in front up until reaching the opposite side.

Then, all of a sudden, she blinked as her mouth parted lightly upon surprise.

A moment of pause.

Now, Mayuzumi was gazing on eyes that were doing the same towards him.

Ha…

The two couldn't hide the abrupt weird and awkward sensation sent by the sudden meeting of their eyes.

"Ma…Mayuzumi-san." Hotaru was the first to acknowledge, as he was the first to avert.

"I…didn't expect to see you here." she added.

Well, he could say the same.

Mayuzumi blinked, before looking back to the girl standing to his front. Truly, she looked different. It wasn't a jersey, a pair of sneakers nor a large size t-shirt she often wore.

This, how should he put it? This image of her was how he would picture her to be if he heard her going for a date.

Instantly, he assumed the redhead would be nearby or that she would be meeting him.

On the other hand, the absence of reply was nothing new, Hotaru was so accustomed to that if involving Mayuzumi.

She smiled a bit, still quite in an awkward feeling brought by their last meeting. "…Where are you going?"

That's right. He forgot for a while. He was heading to a bookstore. Just that… the smile, the face, and everything about her somehow lagged his mind. Didn't he flatly say he wouldn't be in a situation where he'd liked her during their last meeting? So why was he being mesmerized by her presence?

Ugh.

Remembering was annoying.

Nevertheless, he answered. "Bookstore."

Small hint of joy crossed her face upon the reply, "Oh, the newly opened one, is it?"

"…." What was that?

"There's a newly opened store at this side of the city, am I right?"

He didn't know that.

"It has massive options for Light novels or so I heard."

Now, that piqued his interest.

"I'm heading to that place actually. Would you like to come—"

Hotaru snapped, then paused. Well, it seemed she got carried away by her excitement. Mayuzumi wasn't even replying, only looking at her impassively.

It made her shy somehow, as she looked away.

Right. He probably wouldn't want that anyway. "—Or not."

Hotaru forced out a smile and bowed a little, thinking of ending it peacefully right there and then. "Ah. I'll be going. Nice to see—"

"Interesting." he spoke just before she could even finish.

Hotaru blinked.

"I'd like to see that." he said. This wasn't what he wanted yet his action betrayed him. Like a never ending fluctuation between self-repair and self-destruction, he couldn't stay away despite not wanting her nearby.

Meanwhile, confusion was upon her head, thinking if she heard it right. Nevertheless, they were talking about a bookstore and Mayuzumi was the one who introduced her in the world of light novels. It should only be natural if he was curious.

Anyhow, it had nothing to do with her, not at all. She wanted to drill that in her head. There was a possibility that she was the only one being wary of the situation.

"…I see. Then... shall we go...?" Hotaru ended up saying in an almost uncertain voice without expectation that he'd agree. It was just what must be said.

"...Sure." Maybe it wouldn't hurt to check. After all, the said store already gained his interest.

Her eyes blinked, wondering what was the feeling she was having at the moment. He was actually walking with her. Was that alright? His gaze looked quite different too, and she couldn't tell why or in what way.

"…O-Okay…"

.

.

.

.

How did they look like in front of the people passing by?

Mayuzumi minded his distance while walking. At the very least, he didn't want them to look together. Although he was the reason why it happened. He had to change his course of action and matched her intended destination.

Their unexpected meeting could have ended had he not said that.

But he didn't.

She was developing a thing for LN, he noticed. Can't blame her though, it was of different experience after all.

On their way, both were quiet.

Sooner, the two arrived in front of the said new store. The entrance was quite small. The wooden door had a glass attached in the center. There was a bell hanging as well, acting as a signal upon entry. It looked like a vintage shop, despite being built recently. The design was totally endearing and seemed like a hideout for booklovers.

The two entered, and just as expected, it was not a typical book store. It seemed more like a library.

Hotaru smiled, "They even have a café."

Both were in awe. The collection was massive and contained different categories, not only light novels but everything that there was when talking about books. The store truly lived up to the rumors.

He was leading the way, as they walked towards the light novel area.

After a while, her eyes fell to her front, gazing at the broad shoulder of her company who came to a standstill.

She realized they finally reached their desired section. There were racks adjacent to one another acting like a room and had them surrounded. A small smile crossed her face, it was like a private room full of LNs.

Mayuzumi watched as she wandered around, touching and checking random books without dropping the smile.

Initially, he was planning to visit a bookstore, so he decided to check some titles as well.

Seconds that turned to minutes passed by.

The two neither talked nor looked as they both busied themselves with a book.

The swiftest hours, as it flew.

Their shoulders leveled to each other while standing in front of the same rack.

Other customers came too but nobody stayed longer than them.

Sooner, Hotaru began leaning on the shelf from her spot. She had been standing for quite some time after all.

Almost half an hour passed and as if on cue, she snapped, realizing that she was with someone else and not alone.

"Ah, Mayuzumi-san," she called, "D-Did you find something?" She almost read a quarter of the book she had but what about him? She wondered.

With a poker face, Mayuzumi nodded. He was just reading a book he randomly picked for the sake of it. Honestly, he couldn't even focus. He wasn't sure what was happening in the story as if he was only recognizing the characters written on it. He blamed her presence and this confusing situation he was in.

Hotaru cocked her head, pressing the book she had to her chest. She tried reading the title of the book on Mayuzumi's hand. It must be good. After all, Mayuzumi Chihiro was reading it. She quite trusted his taste in this matter.

Mayuzumi blinked, noticing it.

Hotaru put her book back and slid one step closer to him with a little bit of smile. Now that she thought about it, instead of randomly checking books one by one, she could just seek a recommendation from Mayuzumi.

Here we go again with that face, Mayuzumi thought. Were they back to their normal situation? Then again, being this close, spending the day together, and realizing how much words they exchanged from the start were nowhere near their normal. Rather, if he were to define it, this seemed more like a development.

He frowned, and slightly shook his head. So much for ideas like this. This should be nothing.

Anyway, was she really asking for a recommendation? Did she take so much time searching just to find nothing? He wanted to ignore but he couldn't as her eyes locked to his, sending him this uncomfortable sensation, yet again.

Mayuzumi sighed inwardly as he spoke, not really sure what to say. "….What genre do you prefer?"

"Something from your favorites?"

He didn't have any favorites though, he just read whatever was available and if it wasn't interesting, he'd just drop it.

"Hm…maybe something light? Or something interesting… something that would take my mind somewhere… something that would drift my thoughts away…" she continued, her voice slowly fading out in the end. But her eyes, they didn't drift away from his'.

As their gazes locked, Mayuzumi could somehow feel that maybe… there was something more on that 'something' of her.

He shifted his head forward. Perhaps, light novel was not what she needed. Rather, she just needed a breathing. But of course, he wouldn't say that to her. It would only give the impression of concern, something he'd not want to be mistaken for.

Whatever, he'd just give this book that was already on his hand. "Then this one." He said before handing it.

Hotaru flipped at the back to read the summary. "Exposing Game..." this time, she vocally pronounced the title. "Alright, I'll buy it."

Mayuzumi frowned a bit, she didn't even show any hesitation.

Ah... just do what you want.

.

.

.

.

Hotaru thanked him while paying at the counter. She also spoke about all the things she noticed at the bookstore as they exited the establishment.

Her eyes lit up so much, saying how much she'd like to visit again and how much she looked forward to other titles she would find there and most of all, the titles he would recommend in the future. Seriously, she spoke as if this situation would happen again.

Nonetheless, it seemed like she was having a lot of fun, and as for him, he wasn't really sure. For the umpteenth time, he wondered why he was even here, with her.

He was so occupied analyzing the answer that he didn't notice the sudden silence engulfing them. They were still in front of the store. The sunlight peeking between the leaves of the trees aligned consecutively on the side road glowed on them.

Hotaru tucked some strands of hair behind her ears as she opened an out of the blue question towards the third year. "Where should we go next?"

Mayuzumi blinked, eyes winced a little. By 'we', did it mean the two of them? Together? Again? So, the bookstore wasn't the end yet?

Regardless, he didn't clarify and neither did she rephrase the question.

"Are you hungry?" Hotaru asked.

He was… definitely hungry.

It was late in the afternoon and of course, he could already feel his stomach begging for food or at least a drink.

"Look, there's a taiyaki stall there."

Man, he was being dragged to her pace quite a lot today. And somehow, he was allowing it. It was annoyingly intriguing, how he couldn't seem to ignore or disapprove. He even tolerated the way she pinched and held his sleeves, pulling him with her towards the said stall. His eyes could only blink and widen a bit upon surprise.

Mayuzumi sighed quietly, watching her buy the food they would be eating excitedly, like some kid who was out on a family date.

She arrowed the fish-shaped cake to him which he took quite hesitantly.

He was about to take his wallet and pay her back when she aired a palm and smiled. "My treat."

Hotaru took a bite on her own portion.

He had not spoken anything since they left the store, still bewildered by everything. Seriously, what was going on? This seemed like that thing couples do.

"Ah we should sit down." She suggested, sighting one unoccupied bench with a perfect view of the neighborhood down the hill.

"Do you like it? It's sweeter than I thought." Her words went on and on.

Mayuzumi didn't affirm any but he would agree, it was indeed sweeter than usual.

The two quietly finished their food. He couldn't fathom how in the world he was doing this act. He had never expected this would happen in his entire being.

Mayuzumi looked around and from his eyes, he could see a lot of people in pairs, just like them. Anyone could easily assume that those people were on a date. Then, would that be applied to them as well? After all, why would two people, of the opposite gender, be together in a day like this while savoring themselves in some snacks?

He pursed his lips, he really needed to calm his nerves.

It crossed his mind all of a sudden, there was no conversation going on. He wondered if that was just fine to her. Did she really not mind a conversation-less interaction?

Well, even if he tried, he was not the type who would talk a lot.

As for her, would she ever get tired of smiling? Nothing was going on but her face had that small smile present.

Also, it was always her who would initiate a conversation, so was she done? Did she have no more questions for him? No more stories? The thought of being the one starting a topic crossed his mind, but what must he say? He really didn't know.

This, all of this, wasn't his forte.

"...Sasazaki"

"Yes?" her eyes flickered immediately upon his call, as if it made her happy.

Somehow, it felt new. Someone was actually paying close attention to him. Someone was actually willing to listen.

"…Do you like it?" His eyes fell on the lone plastic bag on her side.

Her eyes softened. "Hmm… I haven't read it yet. I'll let you know once I'm done."

"I'm talking about the light novel."

"In general?"

"In general."

How should she put it, she wondered? "…I don't know. I've only gotten to know this kind of book because of you." Her eyes locked at the plastic bag as one hand travelled to caress its surface.

She could have asked the same but chose not to. The answer should only be obvious. Instead, Hotaru opted to ask a different question. "Why do you like it, Mayuzumi-san?"

He answered without looking. "It is not called light without a reason."

She smiled. "You're right."

Hotaru gazed at him once again, remembering one thing. "There's a club for literature, why you didn't join that instead?"

"I prefer sports club than that." Also, it just never occurred to him, literature club as an option.

The fact that he answered a rather personal question made her happy. At least, it seemed like they were finally talking. "…I understand."

Then...

They were done eating.

What other reason did they have to stay longer?

It was getting late and again, there was silence.

She was an attendant of Akashi, he recalled. Just how busy a person working on that family could get?

"You aren't with him today." He spoke.

Hotaru wasn't expecting such statement. Nevertheless, she knew who he was referring to.

How should she retort? Akashi Seijuro was a busy person. He was someone who would require an appointment and scheduling to everything.

As she crumpled the taiyaki wrapper on her hand she mumbled, "Today, I'm on a day-off. Normally, I don't go out, but today is a bit…well, there's some occasion." She smiled, timidly informing her company.

"Occasion?" Mayuzumi smirked, did the freshman brat ask her to do some errands instead of him? Like buying a gift, food or whatsoever? He would assume, that was very prince-y of him after all. Just what kind of occasion to be exact? "What, is it his birthday?" he deadpanned.

Hotaru had her eyes instantly looked to Mayuzumi, in surprise. "My, no…" then with a smile, she continued sheepishly, "rather, it's mine actually."

Mayuzumi travelled his sight at her upon hearing, loss of words for a moment. That was unexpected.

"…"

She scratched her cheek, embarrassed. "I just thought I'd roam around to pass some time.."

The surroundings were rather noisy, yet, her voice stood out the most to his ears.

A couple of seconds had passed when he finally looked at her again.

The smile lingered on her face. He nonchalantly just said it out of mockery, he didn't know it would turn out like this. She seemed happy, as if he did something good to her.

Even so, why was she spending this day with him?

He somehow forgot what to be done to someone celebrating a birthday. Must he sing a birthday song? What about a gift? Why did he feel guilty all of a sudden? Truthfully, it wasn't his responsibility to make her feel good in this occasion. Birthdays were too overrated for grown-ups anyway.

His brows had been frowning for some time.

"…Happy birthday." Well, at the very least, he could greet her.

How troublesome.

"Thank you Mayuzumi-san... for the greeting and... for being with me today." An earnest smile never left her face, suddenly, she forgot the stinging feeling that this day seemed to bring every time. It felt like the first time after a long long time that she enjoyed her own birthday despite the absence of any celebration.

Mayuzumi sighed in a hearable long breath. When she said something like that, he couldn't help but feel this unreasonable sensation inside him that was almost squeezing his heart. Whether it was a good thing or not, he didn't want to know.

Hopefully, it would disappear, the thoughts, the voice, and the sensation creeping beneath his chest. If he gave it some time, for sure it would be gone very soon.

Orange sky started engulfing them as the sun began to set. They had been together for quite a while.

Strangely, he wanted the day to be over and at the same time not. This confusing feeling was totally annoying.

The girl wasn't necessarily being impatient nor bored. In fact, she really liked the presence of the third year. Undeniably, all Rakuzan members were fun to be with. But with Mayuzumi, it was different. More than fun, she'd say it was comforting and strangely familiar. She had the tendency to forget the fact that she was an attendant in a busy household.

Sitting near him, talking with him, felt like a normal and casual gesture towards a person.

Come to think of it, Mayuzumi wondered about one basic fact considering the occasion. "Shouldn't you be celebrating this day with your family?" Precisely, he just wanted to point out how wrong this situation was. Why it was him with her on this day?

"Seijuro-sama is busy today, so he can't."

She was talking about the freshman captain again. He couldn't understand. Clearly, he was asking about her family. "Are you... and Akashi related?" The question just so happened to come out unknowingly. He regretted it instantly. He didn't mean to be nosy about her personal affair.

Hotaru nearly smiled, awkwardly, before moistening her lips. She realized the absurdity of her answer if coming from his perspective. Her hand waived in opposition for a second. "It's not like that." She sighed inwardly while shifting back at the view to her front. Perhaps, she could at least explain.

The orange sky glinted upon her eyes as she gazed up. Then, somehow, she looked down as if something on her feet caught her interest. Black strands of hair fell and hid her face against his sight. "My parents are long gone. My mother died when I was born while my father... uhh, he got in an accident." She didn't realize the long air of sigh she did.

Her voice didn't change but he could assume the sullen expression on her face. "Seijuro-sama's family was kind enough to take me in... out of consideration for the long service that my Father did to their family. You see, my father used to be the trusted attendant of Seijuro-sama."

Mayuzumi's eyes twitched upon hearing. That was some heavy information she dropped there. Somehow, he didn't know how to react. He pursed his lips and looked away. He had always wondered why she was working under that freshman. Why would a highschooler accept such job? Now, he wished he had not known. Then, he wouldn't feel this sudden and overwhelming guilt for not knowing what to do.

"...Sorry." in the end, it was all he could say.

Hotaru smiled, "Why are you apologizing, Mayuzumi-san? That was a long time ago. I'm doing well now." She assured.

Suddenly, she realized something. She had not told this story to anyone. How come she said it easily to him?

Ahh... Because it was Mayuzumi Chihiro.

Since he was not a man of words, it was easier to talk a lot. Because then, it felt like everything she'd get from his end was an ear listening. She believed she didn't really amount much for him to bother. Her voice was probably just a bunch of babble from his side.

He eyed her again, a constant gesture every now and then. It was different. It felt like seeing a part of her that was not portrayed openly.

Truly, he regretted asking. He didn't like how she looked at him as if there was trust and bond between them.

"To be honest, I'm really happy, I got to see you today, Mayuzumi-san." That was a fact.

Ha...

For some reason, hearing it made his heart tighten that he almost wanted to grimace.

She was saying everything so easily and openly, why was that? Unfortunately for him, he had so many things he wanted to say as well but couldn't. Words such as how the sadness of her voice pained his chest in a way he couldn't comprehend. How her words and actions made it seem as if there was hope—a possibility between them if only he'd try.

Mayuzumi gulped. This stupid emotion was creeping on him again. He decided to stand up. "I'll grab something to drink." Perhaps, this would cool his mind and reset his thoughts.

Hotaru glanced at his back as he went on. Thankfully, the atmosphere didn't turn awkward. Well, as what she'd expect from Mayuzumi Chihiro. He probably accepted it as it was and nothing more, or so she thought.

Meanwhile, Mayuzumi breathed deeply in silence. Was it pity? Though, he was not the most empathetic guy. Then, what about concern? His chest tightened at the thought, because concern would only exist if he cared for her. How unlikely of him to worry about this. Just how much had she ruined his emotion?

Truly, if only she knew how much clamor she was causing in his mind and heart, then she'd be surprised.

His turn at the vending machine came in, he bought two random drinks and went back.

Upon return, the bench they occupied a while ago was empty. From his peripheral vision, he found her close to the railing and seemingly watching as the sun completed its farewell.

Her hair was dancing encompassed by the wind.

For a minute, he only watched as he moved closer to the stillness of her being.

If he was indeed concerned about her, what would that mean? Where would it take him if he admitted that?

He sighed and decided to call her out. "Sasazaki" He'd just give the drink and maybe bring an end to this situation.

Hotaru looked through her shoulder, tucking some hair behind her ear in the process. As usual, she welcomed him with a smile.

Unexpectedly, his heart skipped a beat. He never realized how beautiful a sunset could be until this moment, as that one girl stood amidst it, while looking at him. He knew he was about to say something, offer the drink he bought, ask what she was doing, inform her about his departure, but somehow words left him.

Hotaru wondered why he was not speaking. She blinked and turned around completely to face him.

He had two small cans of tea on one hand, while staring silently at her. "Ah, let me take one of those for you Mayuzumi-san." She shifted the hand that was on her ear to reach it.

Her hair would have been flying all over her face had he not raised his arm quickly. Suddenly, Mayuzumi had taken the strands of her hair and held it in place beside her ear.

As if charmed, his body somehow moved on its own. It felt like he just wanted to see more of that face.

Hotaru paused in surprise. A second passed and some more, still, he remained that way.

She blinked. What was going on, she wondered. "Mayuzumi-san?"

It took two mentions of his name for him to snap back to reality. He fixed his stance. "..sorry."

Hotaru forced a smile despite the confusion at his sudden gesture. "...I-Is something wrong?"

It was just... for a moment there, she looked so beautiful.

Just... again and again, she kept weakening his resolve.

"Nothing, here's the drink."

Hotaru tried to be nonchalant when she took it. "Is there something on my hair? It has gotten windy after all." She tapped the side of her hair a few times to make sure there wasn't anything. It must be that. She convinced herself not to overthink.

"B-By the way, look at that." Hotaru pointed at the neighborhood down the hill, as a way to change the sudden stiffness of the moment. She already noticed it a while ago and wanted to see closer. "Such a pretty sight, don't you think?" She chuckled softly and leaned on the railings as she opened her can to drink.

Since it was getting dark, the view down the hill to their front started illuminating. It was like in the form of bokeh at first, but the longer they looked, the clearer they saw. The lights were caused by the numerous houses in that area. Despite that, it was mesmerizing to look at.

She thought today would be the same as her usual days, but because of Mayuzumi, it became memorable. There was a good view, good snacks, and good company.

Hotaru stretched her arms forward and formed a rectangle with her fingers as if taking a picture of the scenery. "It's like the sea of fireflies."

She was talking about the fireflies again. "What is it about the firefli—those things, that you like so much?" As expected, it still didn't feel right to say the word similar to her name.

Hotaru closed one eye, peeking through the spaces between her fingers. "Because... I was named after those." She laughed softly. "It just so happened that my parents had that kind of moment too."

"Too?"

"That time, remember? We saw it too, right?" She continued. "My father once told me this story when they—." Ah.

As if she bit her tongue, Hotaru immediately closed her mouth.

"..."

"..."

Instantly, reality and memories hit back—clashing, clamoring inside their heads.

Hotaru slowly paid the man a glance. Would this trigger their previous misunderstanding? She blabbered too much again, although it wasn't in her intention.

Mayuzumi took the last gulp of his drink and scoffed quietly.

Ha...

"...That time... eh?"

He knew in the way she was looking at him. He didn't have to wonder. Her face said it all. Did she realize what she just said? To relate the moments of her parents to them—that could mislead him into thinking there was something deeper between them during that time.

So much for cooling his mind and whatsoever. This good yet undesirable sensation caused by her won't go away unless he made it to be.

He really, truly, in his entire being, didn't want this.

.

Or... did he?

She was about to apologize when he suddenly cut her off. Without taking his eyes away from her, he asked. "Say, Sasazaki... Do you like Akashi?" Perhaps, the answer to that would cement his resolve. Either way, he knew what it would be.

The question was abrupt and straightforward. She didn't know why he suddenly asked that.

Hotaru was confused. It was irrelevant. For a moment there, she was worried about her loquacity. Would it be safe to assume that it didn't irk him after all? That would be a relief then.

Nevertheless, it took her a while to speak. It was so unrelated considering the moment but it was not a hard question. Akashi Seijuro was the only family she had ever since the demise of her father, therefore there'd be only one answer.

"I do..." She blinked. "...But why are you asking that, Mayuzumi-san?"

Probably, anyone they knew could tell. It was already obvious. After all, those two had known each other for so long, unlike him whom she only met months ago.

The disappointment crept on his stomach. It was what he expected to hear, so why did he feel this way?

In the end, it was only right to contradict. All of this had no point.

"I see." So don't light the fire. She shouldn't have said such thing about their moment with the firefly. Don't even recall it, much more, don't compare, don't involve her parents.

His gaze turned apathetic all of a sudden. "Then you should be with Akashi." Not here, not with him.

Such a disgusting emotion.

"And by the way, those aren't even fireflies. It's just houses, Sasazaki." He looked over the scenery.

This was what he got for spending too much time with her. Surely, it was beyond his intention anymore. She seemed to be revealing too much as well. He didn't want to know any further. He didn't want anymore connection than what they already had. So… this must be stopped. The day must come to an end. No need to be hopeful about anything.

"Also... that time was a mere coincidence." He said, in a matter of fact, and with every contradiction from his emotion.

She already had someone dear to her. He was not interested in competing with anyone. Therefore, he had no need for any hope.

This inarticulate desire must die.

"…T-That's right." Hotaru was forced to agree.

Mayuzumi sighed, "Anyway, you should head back." That person was probably waiting already.

"Mayuzu—"

"…Let's part from here, Sasazaki." He went on his own accord, not even waiting for a farewell.

Her fist gripped harder on the railings as she watched his back merge with the crowd.

Everything was going well between them earlier. She wondered what and when did it go wrong for them to part like this. Surely, it happened too fast, she couldn't even react properly.

She closed her eyes for a while. Why did it feel like their distance was only getting bigger the more she tried to be closer to him? Why did she even want to be closer? What was it with Mayuzumi that she couldn't help but approach every time?

Hotaru sighed before pursing her lips. She looked again at the scenery, remembering her father's words when she was young.

'When I confessed my love to your Mother, she told me that she wasn't aware that she felt the same until that moment. We were just watching fireflies that night and somehow, I knew right then, I must tell her. Therefore, it was so special. The fireflies served as our guiding light, and that light led us to meeting you, our child.'

The view in front of her was undeniably fake, he was right. Those were just lights coming from the houses. Yet, she couldn't help it, it really looked like fireflies.

Must be nice, she thought. Her parents were witnessed by such pretty beings during such a moment. Unfortunately for her, embarrassment was all she could show to the fireflies.
