But now was the worse time possible for this. Even if Sesshomaru wanted to explore this, he didn't have time. But the bigger question, did he want to explore it? Did he care in the least that she had feelings for him? Was she worth a second thought?

Sesshomaru looked straight ahead, unsure, undecided. The value of human life, even hers with its immortality, was something he learned not to take completely for granted.

"You are sure about this?" He asked,

"I bet my sword on it,"

Sesshomaru closed his eyes. Damn it, damn it, damn it.

"I can stall them," Inuyasha offered,

"What makes you think I wish for you too,"

"K, you know what, whatever I told you, I did my part, tsh," Inuyasha glared at his brother as he made his way back to his friends.

They all looked at him.

"It's hopeless," He said. "His pride won't let him even consider it," Inuyasha said,

They all looked on with sadness in their eyes as Sesshomaru ignored the truth that was just spoken to him and made his way to his mother and demoness.

"We should just go," Inuyasha said,

"If that is what you want, Inuyasha," Miroku spoke,

"We should be with her," Inuyasha added,

"We can go to the well, but I think it best to give her space right now," Kikyo added,

They agreed, and all got up and left. Sesshomaru saw them out of the corner of his eye. So his brother would once again not be at his side in a time of need. Of course, he knew they were choosing Kagome over him.

They were not loyal to him but to her.

But Sesshomaru wasn't the only one to notice the early departure of the group or the lack of Miko present. His mother noticed, and she also noticed the distraction within her son, and while she likes to make people think she didn't care,

She did.

But could she give up crowing her son? The West was lordless for too long, but his late father would often say, forever could spare a moment. But if her intuition about what was going on was right, she questioned her feelings about it. Could she allow him to go down the same path as his great and terrible father? Of course, comparing Inuyasha's mother, a simple hime, to a powerful immortal Miko was like comparing apples to oranges.

"Sesshomaru,"

His beast was pacing again, so much so he didn't even hear his mother say his name.

"Sesshomaru," She stated, colder making him turn to her. "You are distracted," She whispered as they walked together, getting closer to the demoness.

"My beast is unsettled,"

She paused, "And what causes this?"

Apparently, a human Miko did. Fuck. He closed his eyes in annoyance. If only she had said something, done something. He wished he had time to go back over their time together. But he wondered if she has, would it have made a difference. He kept telling himself, no, but the fact he kept thinking about it proved that incorrect. He was interested in her interest. How deep that went, he didn't know. She had always been a very curious creature to him.

"Mother,"

"Hn?"

"Were you aware of the Miko affections for me?"

"Were you not?" She seemed shocked, which in turn shocked him.

"No,"

They indeed had a problem, and she wasn't even here to help solve it.
