Spark Three: Threats Combined
Amy and Eggman's Spark – Chapter 1: Factory Recall
Unlike most of the others, Amy and Eggman had been stuck in the tube for hours on end. Let me explain from the beginning…
See, Amy and Eggman were awake when going down the winding passage, and Eggman had been irritating her for the past half hour they'd been travelling.
"Why do you and that rodent always have to mess with me?"
"Because younevertry to change!" let out an exasperated Amy. If she had had her hammer, it would certainly have dented a certain 'genius' and their head by now. However, she had nothing better to do, so for now, answering questions smartly was the way to go.
Also it was visibly making the doctor go red in the face. He'd already been red, so his face looked like a postbox that had been freshly repainted. He was growling ever so slightly and his gloves looked like they would start ripping if he stayed this angry.
"Well, the least he could do is wait before I try to attack! Is that too much to ask?!"
"Once you attack it's always too late to reverse your damage! It hurts people. Don't you EVER CARE?!" shouted Amy. Her voice was gradually getting louder, as she lost patience.
"Why SHOULD I?" retorted Eggman.
The two gave each other the most horrendous looks, staring at each other until the opposite cracked under the pressure. Funnily enough, it was Amy who looked away first. She sighed, and said more quietly, "Why don't you ever try to be nice?"
"Hmm? I didn't catch that," came the reply.
Poor Amy had finally had enough. "OK, THAT'S IT! Why do you want to CONQUER THE WORLD, HUH? People have good lives with FRIENDS and FAMILY and they want to spend time with people they care about. YOU NEVER TRY TO CARE FOR ANYBODY!"
Eggman was astounded at this reaction. He stayed silent, but just as he raised his hand to say something, she cut him off.
"Could you just never TRY to ATTACK PEOPLE?! Maybe if you tried to put your 'SUPERIOR IQ THAT MAKES ME THE SMARTEST GUY IN THE UNIVERSE' aside, you'd understand why people like to be with others! Sonic knows it! Tails knows it! Even Shadow can understand but you, you've never been anything more than a… a…"
Eggman sighed and offered, "A lonely grouch with nothing better to do than annoy Sonic?"
"Yeah…"
A silence ran between them. They were both exhausted, and turned around so as not to face each other. And then the tube became narrow, wedging the pair inside.

"I'm telling you, if you just move a bit to the right–"
"No, it won't work! Why don't you try to lose weight?"
"It's a condition, ok?"
"Oh wow, why have we never heard of it before?"
"You never asked."
"Can't you just use your IQ and get us out of here?"
"Well, would you look at that, now who needs my IQ?"
"You know what I meant then!"
If Sonic, or Tails, or literally anybody were here, this would have ended hours ago, but the pair were too deep in to climb out of the pit of menace they were digging right now. They kept going at it for hours and hours… until the pair got to a point where they realised this was doing them no good.
Dr. Eggman reflected on what had been said earlier before this argument. "I've only ever wanted to conquer the world to gain some more respect, and lots of power."He laughed at the thought of those two things in his hands. "But it never seems to work because of you!"
Amy just said, "Look, I'm really not in the mood anymore, Eggman. I'm sorry about the insults I gave you."
This truly stumped Eggman. Even though he'd heard of the concept of 'sympathy,' the doctor had never practised it, let alone purely experienced it.
"You're… sorry? But why? Everything you said had some justification!"
"It was wrong of me to shout at you like that. Nobody deserves to suffer these things." She tilted her head up to see him listening. "If you tried to actually care about some people, you'd be surprised how much easier it would be to feel happy. 'Cos that's what this is all about isn't it? Happiness?"
No sounds of denial or agreement came.
She felt quite annoyed that he still couldn't admit anything, but solemnly continued. "Power is temporary, Eggman. You can get it, but eventually, you won't have it anymore. But you know what can last a lot longer than that? The connections you make with people. Those last forever, whether they leave you or not." And then Amy made a move that had Eggman at a complete loss.
She smiled at him with belief.
Eggman tried to ignore it, but for once, he couldn't. Absolutely anyone could smile at him, but it would never make him feel this strange feeling he was feeling right now. SO how was it that it was making him think differently? This felt like a trick, but nothing she said pointed to that.
His heart was pounding faster and faster. As much as he tried to dismiss her actions, there was explicit truth in her words, and the message was sinking in. This had never happened before. Maybe it was the kindness that had done it, or the words she spoke right after, but it started to change a small part of this doctor.
"I believe you can be good. You just have to as well." Silence.
There was a whirring sound in the distance. Eggman looked up and saw a grey light speeding towards them. It was pulling them out from their jam, and with no effort at all, started taking them backwards. "W-Whoa! What's going on?" asked Amy.
"I don't know! This isn't my doing!" answered Eggman. They were getting closer and closer to the hole they'd left through. The doctor fell silent again, and pondered on the words Amy had prompted him to think on, as the pair were engulfed by the hole's white light.
