CHAPTER 02: The Chaos Unfolds
Hinata was too stunned to speak, her cheeks flushed a deep crimson. Sasuke leaned in closer, his dark eyes holding hers with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine. Naruto, however, wasn't having it.
"Oi, teme!" Naruto stood up from his stool, slamming his chopsticks on the counter. "What's with you? Did you hit your head or something? You're acting so weird!"
Sasuke, without taking his eyes off Hinata, waved dismissively at Naruto. "You're too loud, dobe. Go back to your ramen."
Naruto's face turned red with frustration. "Loud? You're the one acting like a total creep! Leave Hinata alone!"
Sakura, who had been quietly observing the scene with growing alarm, placed a hand on Naruto's arm. "Naruto, something's off. Sasuke doesn't act like this—ever."
"Exactly!" Naruto exclaimed. "What did you do to him, Sakura?! Did you put him up to this as a joke?"
Sakura scowled. "Why would I do that? Use your brain for once!" She turned toward Teuchi and Ayame. "What happened? He wasn't like this a minute ago."
Teuchi sighed heavily. "I think… it's my fault. Ayame accidentally knocked a love potion into his ramen."
Naruto froze. "A love potion?!" He pointed dramatically at Sasuke. "You mean that's why he's all—ugh—this?"
Ayame nodded sheepishly. "It wasn't supposed to happen! That potion was meant for a special order. It's harmless, I promise! It'll wear off in a few hours."
"A few hours?!" Naruto looked like he might explode. "You mean we have to deal with this Sasuke until then?!"
Hinata, still sitting stiffly beside Sasuke, glanced nervously at the group. "M-maybe it's not so bad… Sasuke-kun will be back to normal soon, right?"
Sasuke, as if sensing her attempt to defuse the tension, leaned closer to her. His smirk softened into something dangerously affectionate. "Hinata, you're too kind. I'm glad you're the one here with me."
Naruto leaped between them, practically shoving Sasuke back. "Alright, that's it! Back off, teme! You're freaking her out!"
Sasuke didn't even flinch. He simply tilted his head, his smirk never faltering. "Jealous, Naruto? Don't worry, I'm not interested in you."
Naruto's eye twitched. "That's not—argh! Sakura, do something!"
Sakura stepped forward, glaring at Sasuke. "Sasuke-kun, listen. This isn't you. It's the potion talking. You need to sit down, stay calm, and—"
"Stay calm?" Sasuke interrupted, his voice smooth but laced with amusement. "I'm perfectly calm. I just realized something I should've noticed long ago." He turned his gaze back to Hinata, who was desperately trying to make herself smaller. "Hinata is extraordinary."
Hinata let out a small squeak, covering her flushed face with her hands. "S-Sasuke-kun, please…"
Naruto lunged at Sasuke, grabbing his collar. "Alright, that's it! We're taking you to Tsunade-baachan. She'll fix you up!"
Sasuke's expression darkened momentarily, but he didn't retaliate. "Touch me again, Naruto, and I'll make sure you regret it."
Naruto flinched but held his ground. "I'm not scared of you, teme!"
The tension escalated as the two locked eyes, their usual rivalry igniting in full force. Sakura groaned and stepped between them, shoving Naruto back.
"Enough! Both of you!" she snapped. "Naruto, you're making it worse. Sasuke, stop being… whatever this is! We'll take him to Lady Tsunade, but we have to be smart about it."
Teuchi, trying to salvage his shop's reputation, chimed in. "Maybe he just needs to cool down? Ayame, bring some cold water."
Ayame hurried to comply, bringing out a pitcher of ice water. Before Sasuke could react, Naruto grabbed it and dumped the entire thing over Sasuke's head.
For a moment, everyone froze.
Sasuke sat there, drenched and visibly unimpressed. Water dripped from his hair onto his cloak, and he slowly turned his head to glare at Naruto. "You have three seconds to run."
Naruto backed away nervously. "It was worth a shot…"
Before Sasuke could retaliate, Hinata suddenly stood up, her hands raised. "W-wait! Sasuke-kun, please… let's just go to Lady Tsunade together. She can help."
Her soft plea seemed to break through Sasuke's potion-induced haze of arrogance. He paused, his intense gaze softening again. "For you, Hinata… anything."
Naruto groaned. "Oh, give me a break!"
Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose. "This is going to be a long day."
