Chapter 174

Feeling Feline

Part 1

Continuation:

Vanessa has explained everything to the Rangers.. And so, they take the time to think at the old weather station.. The Yellow Ranger has told Vanessa not to try anything because she might end up getting hurt.. Vanessa agrees and decides to let the Rangers deal with the situation. And also, Amanda and Vanessa has exchanged phone numbers and addresses as well to keep in touch just in case something else happens, cat wise.

Joey takes a deep breath and says to everyone.

Joey-I'm going fishing before it gets too dark.

Nakia looks at him and asks.

Nakia-Fishing? Now? While all this new mess is happening?

Joey-Hey I'm sure you don't need me right now. And I'd like to take the time to relax a bit.

Ryan says to Joey.

Ryan-Go ahead Joey. If we need you we'll contact you, alright?

Joey-Thanks. I'll be at Terra Falls Lake.

Joey leaves to pick up his fishing gear..

Meanwhile, in Professor Feliness' house.. Well in his lab to be exact.. He sits in the same leather chair, stroking the fur on his cat's back.. He looks at the screens because right now they're showing the fight with the Rangers. He notices a certain segment.. The segment with Vanessa and Amanda.. He says to himself.

Professor Feliness-Hmm. Henry's daughter.. Now why would she be there.. Hmmm.

Just then, a semi hurt kitty comes walking into the base lab.. The Professor senses her presence almost immediately.. So he says.

Professor Feliness-You failed Kitty.

Kitty responds in a weak rowring tone.

Kitty-I didn't mean too.

Professor Feliness-Well how are you going to make it up to me then?

Kitty-In the working lab.. Professor. We were careful to create many duplicates of the original cats eye.

Professor Feliness-Excellent start. I knew you wouldn't fail in that department.

Kitty-We also finished the cat DNA cells as well.

Professor Feliness-My formula worked?

Kitty-Yes it did.

Professor Feliness-And you tested it?

Kitty-Yes. But that's not all professor. After completing the DNA cells, we also finished the RNA cells as well which will be able to absorb genetic information from the DNA of the creature who eats the cat's DNA cell.

Professor Feliness-Therefore allowing it to replicate itself if need be.

Kitty-Exactly.

Professor Feliness-Good. I guess it's not so hard finding good help these days.

Kitty-I and the rest of my team are honored to help you.

Professor Feliness-Of course... I will inform you of a worthy creature.. Worthy enough to guard the next cat's eye you plant.

Kitty-Yes.

Kitty leaves the base lab..

Back at the weather station..

Nakia-I can't believe all of this..

Kimberly-What's not to believe?

Nakia-I don't know. I guess its not so hard to believe.

Ryan-That's true. That girl, Vanessa thinks she knows the person who's behind the recent events.

Nakia-And if it's the same guy we saw at the party store in the mall.

Zelda-Then we've got him.

Chet-But how are you going to prove it?

Nakia-Vanessa said she knows where he lives. If it's really him. But I told her not to interfere.

Zelda-Hmm. Maybe we can sneak around.

Ryan-Not a good idea right now. Do you really think he'd actually reveal himself to us? I figure he might know we're on to him.

Nakia-Hmm, good point.

Ryan-Yeah. So our best bet is to just stop his attempts on whatever he's trying to do in this city. Besides if we decide to leave, we'll have to leave some working room for the new team of Rangers.

They all nod in agreement. Chet then says.

Chet-Hey you guys I'm going to go and join Joey.. I want to do some fishing too.

He departs

Professor Feliness' cat accidentally knocks over a book that was on the table.. Now, he picks up the book from the floor and opens it up.. He says to himself.

Professor Feliness-Hmm. Interesting. I think I found the creature I want to eat the DNA cell. Ah yes, it will be worthy enough to protect the next cat's eye. A perfect yet unbelievable hybrid.

The professor summons Kitty and informs her to take the DNA and RNA cells to the local lake.. He says for her to drop the cell into the lake so that a fish can spot it and eat it.. Kitty nods and leaves to complete her task.. But she doesn't forget the duplicate cat's eye.

At Vanessa's home.. She's upstairs in her bedroom.. Looking through her window and wondering.

Vanessa-I wonder if the Rangers are going to investigate. Hmm.

At the local lake.. Joey meets up with Brett unexpectedly.. Brett has on a light blue shirt, a pair of black jeans, white shoes and a black jacket.

Both guys right now, are at the bait shop located a few feet away from the glistening waters of the lake.

A guy who is of African descent comes walking out of the back room area wearing a green t shirt, blue jeans, a blue baseball cap turned backwards, and black sneakers. I also must say he's 6'0, has really short black hair, brown eyes, and a muscular build. He puts some worms in a bag for Joey.. When he gives it to him he says.

Jorge-Looks like you're going to be here for a while.

Joey-Why do you say that?

Jorge-Because you bought a lot of worms.

Joey-Oh.

Jorge fills the next bag up, this time its for Brett. He asks now.

Jorge-Hey I'm almost off from work. And I love to fish. Would you guys mind if I join you?

Joey-Sure, it's cool.

Brett-No problem.

Jorge-Great. I'll be at the lake right when I close up

Joey-Allright.

They both pay for their purchase and leave to go to the lake.

And wouldn't you know it? Kitty appears at the same lake.. She looks around to make sure no one is around, and to her very happy surprise, no one is around.. So she drops the white cell which is of cat's DNA into the lake and says.

Kitty-Okay fishy, fishy, fishy, time to come out and eat..

She says to herself now.

Kitty-Mmm fish sounds good right about now.. But I can't think about that.. I have to complete my work.

The cell falls deep in the lake.. It falls till it hit's the bottom. Kitty says to herself.

Kitty-When the creature is revealed I'll return so it can devour the RNA cell.

Now, she finds a spot within the woody looking area surrounding the lake to plant the new duplicate cat's eye.. When she's finished she giggles fiendishly and disappears in a purple light that soon follows her disappearance.

15 minutes pass. Joey and Brett show up now holding fishing poles, and bait that's inside of their tackle boxes.

When Joey sets down his tackle box he notices the water looking a little strange.. He light taps Brett on his chest with his hand and asks.

Joey-Hey do you see that?

Brett looks at the water and he too notices its strange look.

Brett-Hmm. Strange. It's bubbling.

Joey-This doesn't look good.

Brett-I could of said that.

Joey-Yeah well I beat ya to it.

Both guys back away from the lake because its severely bubbling up now.

Joey says to himself.

Joey-Another catastrophe I bet. Man this totally sucks!

The cat's eye base in the woodsy area opens up just as soon as a strange creature bursts through the bubbling water of the lake.. Joey exclaims.

Joey-OH MAN!

The creature of course is a hybrid, which means a cross between two different creatures.. Fish and of course cat.. So it basically looks like a giant silvery looking cat with scales on its stomach, and fur on its back.. The left side of its face is of a cat, and right side is of a fish.. And you're wondering what kind of fish? Salmon is the answer.

The creature ends up landing on Brett..

Brett falls and grunts.. He tries to get it off of him but the creature is too strong.

Joey immediately kicks the creature off of Brett and tells him to get away from the area.. Brett doesn't really think twice.. He leaves, as fast as he can.

Rolling on the ground now, the monster gets up and meow's at Joey in a irritating way.. Joey says.

Joey-Man are you ugly!

Joey brings up his right wrist because his intention is materializing his morpher.. But the creature removes a whisker from its left side facial area and throws it like a spear.. The whisker proves to be really sharp as it pierces into Joey's hand.. He groans out and holds it because it hurts real bad.

Joey-UGHH! Man!

Brett is getting through the woodsy area where he runs into Jorge.. Both guys notice something shooting up into the sky but its from a distance. Brett asks Jorge.

Brett-Hey do you know where that light is coming from?

Jorge shakes his head and says.

Jorge-No. I have never seen anything like that before.

Brett-Neither have I. Man!

Jorge-What's wrong?

Brett-I left Joey.

Jorge-He's fishing isn't he?

Brett-Not exactly.

Jorge-What's going on?

Brett-He's fighting some monster.

Jorge-Fighting a monster, really?

Brett-Yeah. I know he can handle it though.

Jorge-How so?

Brett-Just trust me on this.

Jorge-Maybe he needs help.

They hear a voice coming from behind them who obviously has been listening to their conversation.

Chet-Hey you guys.. I'll help Joey. You two try to find the source of that light and shut it down, okay?

Brett nods his head and says.

Brett-Alright.

Chet-Cool.

Chet takes off running in the direction of the lake. And Brett tries to track down the source of the shot up light, with Jorge behind him.

While Chet is running to get to Joey, he turns on his communicator and contacts Ryan.

Chet-Hey there's trouble at the lake.. I'm almost there. You all need to get here too.

Ryan responds.

Ryan-On our way.

Chet-Great.

Chet turns off his communicator. He then brings up his right wrist and twists it so that his communicator turns into his morpher.. He then shouts out.

Chet-IT'S MORPHIN TIME!

He touches the star on his morpher which makes it glow.. He says now.

Chet-BLACK STAR, HAILSTORM POWER, NOW!

Chet's body glows but its not an ordinary glow.. No, the power from his morpher has covered him in pure ice. And as he continues to run through the woodsy area, the ice bursts therefore it reveals him to be the Black Ranger now. He says to himself.

Black Ranger-Hang on Joey. I'm on my way!

Brett and Jorge are still searching for the base of the light they see in the sky. They hear a voice coming from one of the trees.

Kitty-Hey, who are you?! You're not supposed to be here!

Brett stops and looks around..

Brett-Who's there?

Kitty-You humans are pests! Luckily I chose to overcome that specific profile.

Jorge spots kitty sitting up in a tree right in front of where Brett is standing.

Jorge-What is that?!

Kitty-I'm not a that!

Brett-What do you want?

Kitty-I'm going to give you a choice.. Either you stay and regret it, or you leave peacefully.

Brett-Are you responsible for that light.

He points up in the sky.. Kitty says.

Kitty-It's none of your business. And I believe the saying goes.. Don't stick your nose where it doesn't belong.

All the way from Vanessa's home.. She spots the light in the sky.. And yes, she gets really nervous when she sees the top of the light in the form of a cat's eye. She exclaims.

Vanessa-Oh no not again!

She looks for a certain piece of paper she put away a few minutes ago.. She says to herself.

Vanessa-Come on I have to find Amanda's number!

She ends up finding it in the back of her dresser drawer.

Vanessa-Yes!

She picks up her phone and dials the number.. After a few seconds of waiting.. Amanda picks up.

Amanda-Hello?

Vanessa-Amanda?

Amanda-Yes.

Vanessa-This is Vanessa.

Amanda-What's up?

Vanessa-Take a look out of one of your windows.

Amanda-Why?

Vanessa-Just look.

Amanda-Okay.

Amanda sets down her phone and looks out of her kitchen window.. Seconds later she picks up the phone again and says.

Amanda-Another cat's eye!

Vanessa-Yeah.

Amanda-And you want to try and find it?

Vanessa-Of course.

Amanda-Allright, let's do it then. I'll pick you up in five minutes.

Vanessa-Okay.

They both hang up.

Back at the lake.. Joey is being beaten by the hybrid creature.. His body is struck badly and so he falls on the ground.. The creature is about to stomp his back, but a blast of icy cold power stops it.. It makes a sound to let you know its feeling pain.

The creature ends up being pushed away from Joey and it finds itself frozen on one side.. The Black Ranger says to it after he pulls back his laser pistol.

Black Ranger-BACK OFF FREAK!

The Black Ranger rushes over to Joey.. And bends down to ask.

Black Ranger-Joey, you okay man?

Joey responds meekly.

Joey-I'll be Allright.. Ugh! But that monster.. Is really.. Tough.

Black Ranger-Don't worry. I'll get you out of here.

The creature breaks away the ice that covered one part of its body and charges at the Black Ranger.

Luckily, help is finally here.. For, the Pink and Yellow Rangers are up in the air with their right legs extended.. They end up giving the creature a double power kick of wind and lightning. Both Rangers land nicely on their feet.

Next, when the power from the double kick flings the monster closer to the lake, the White Ranger steps up and prepares her attack.

A dark essence surrounds the White Ranger with her snow staff in hand.. She twirls it around vigorously as she says.

White Ranger-SNOW WAVE, COLD POWER!

With those words complete, she points her now glowing snow staff at the creature and sends out a wave of pure freezing power. It flashes upon the creature continuously therefore giving it strikes of extremely freezing power. The last flash presents itself as a concentration white beam that pushes the creature in the air where it's body is becoming completely covered in cold snow.. And when the beam disappears, and the creature starts to fall, the Red Ranger leaps up into the air with his triple blade sword.. He goes into cannonball flip mode, and when it comes out of it, he delivers a powerful slashing strike that cuts the creature in two.. Now, the split creature falls back into the water, and the Red Ranger lands on his feet.

Back in the woodsy area.. Kitty is still talking to Brett and Jorge, although she's getting very annoyed with them.

Jorge says to her.

Jorge-What exactly are you?

Kitty-I'm something you'll find interesting.

She says to herself.

Kitty-Luckily I brought an extra DNA cell.

Jorge says.

Jorge-You look like a cat.

Kitty-Maybe I am.

Jorge-Yet, you talk.

Kitty-So..

Jorge-So that's strange.

Kitty thinks of a way to make Jorge open his mouth and keep it open for a few seconds. She says.

Kitty-I can't hear you.

Jorge repeats himself.

Jorge-I said it's strange.

Kitty-What?

Jorge gets louder and his words slow down a bit therefore leaving his mouth open for a longer period of time.. This is her chance Kitty thinks.. So she throws the DNA cell downward, and before anyone knows it, Jorge ends up first choking on it because it hit his mouth fast, but then he swallows it. Brett exclaims.

Brett-WHAT IN THE WORLD!

Jorge falls to the ground as Kitty says.

Kitty-Since the first creature isn't here.. This one will make a good guardian of the cat's eye.. Because he's suddenly feeling feline!

She laughs and disappears.

Brett says in fright because Jorge's body is surging and slowly changing.

Brett-What's going on!?

Jorge's body continues to change as everything fades to black..
