Given the choice between the strange gentleman and the metal demon raising its hand against her, she went with the stranger. As the two ran out Rosita looked behind her and saw the metal arm fall down where she was stood. Her eyes widened when she saw a blue light arc from its hands like fire or lightning. Her heart pounded when she realised it would have killed her. The gentlemen who came to her rescue led her up the stairs as the automaton marched behind them like a toy soldier. Before they could leave The Rose & Crown, the exact same hellish creature stood in front of them blocking their escape. How did it get up there so fast?

"Couldn't make it too easy for me!" the gentlemen proclaimed in a confident if slightly pompous attitude. "This way madam!" he ordered dragging Rosita to the rear exit. The two ran out the tavern of phantasmagoria and the stranger slammed the door shut. They were safe. Rosita was amazed, the man was in his 40s or 50s yet seemed to have the energy of a man half his age!

As the two caught their breath she noticed the doorknob begin to turn "Sir, look out!" she screamed as the door slammed wide open revealing what seemed to be the exact same knight! The stranger took heed of her warning and managed to duck away from it's deathly grip before throwing a fistful of glittering powder in its face. The metal figure didn't make any noise but stumbled around as if it was choking on the powder before falling back into the pub. The gentleman closed the door before locking it with some kind of brown key? Rosita caught the man's eye who gave her a laugh despite being moments away from death.

"What was that powder? What is that thing? And what you laughing about?" she angrily asked him.

The strangely dressed man looked at her with intrigue "You ask a lot of questions."

Rosita stepped back, wondering if she had said something out of line.

"I like that!" He proclaimed with a joyful smile. Rosita was confused at her savior. Either he was a gallant hero or a madman…or both. "The powder I threw was gold dust. A little favour from some dear friends in Australia. The only weakness I know for the Cybermen. That's the 'thing' you encountered. As of why I'm laughing, sometimes it's all you can do in the face of adversity and torment and strife!" Rosita could tell that he genuinely believed every word he was saying. Truth be told, so could she despite his absurdity.

"Cybermen? Who created it? The rich?"

"Why the rich?"

"I don't know!"

"You said it. Why the rich?"

"Well… if it's a creature whose weakness is gold then it's only something rich people can kill."

The gentlemen seemed to consider this theory and is features slowly rose into a bemused grin. "I never thought of it like that. Well done."

"So, is it the rich sir?"

"No."

Rosita gave a scowl of annoyance. "Well, whoever they are, when Mr Wilson finds them, he's going to raise all hell!"

"Mr Wilson? Elderly gentleman, long brown coat, slightly odd fitting hat?"

"Yes that's him!"

"I'm afraid he's been murdered."

"That's not funny, that's a horrible thing to say sir!"

"The truth often is." He answered back with a surprisingly offsetting tone. He instinctively shook the dark thoughts out his head before getting ready to run back inside the building!

Rosita was tempted to grab him before he ran back in. "What is it then? Why is it so quick? And what are you doing?

"They are the Cybermen and they are many. Automatons who used to be men from another world. They aren't quick by any measure of the word but they are unstoppable. I've finally tracked a small group of them to this establishment, but it doesn't appear to be the main base of operations. Regardless I'm going to have to stop them because, well that's what I do."

"Stop them? With what?"

"With dynamite of course, wish me luck madam!" he shouted before slamming the door on her.

"Wait! Who the 'ell even are you?" She shouted, not expecting an answer. To her amazement the gentlemen reopened the door.

"Oh sorry. What was your name by the way?"

"Uh… Farisi sir. Rosita Farisi." She introduced herself, curtseying and bowing her head as was expected of her.

"Rosita. Good name. Hello Rosita, I'm the Doctor, don't bow to me and don't tell anyone about tonight or you'll put them in danger. Allon-sy!"

"WAIT!" Rosita shouted as the Doctor slammed the door close. She tried to open the door but strangely found it would not open.

She ran around the side of the building wondering if she should inform a nearby constable. Before she could, The Rose and Crown exploded in a big ball of fire! She moved away to get away from the smoke that had blown in her face. She went up to a young woman who had witnessed the whole thing.

"Excuse me, did you see anyone leave before the building went up?"

"No sorry. The door was closed, and I definitely didn't see anyone leave when it went up. Why, was someone inside? Should I call the brigade or a doctor?"

Rosita didn't answer, she walked away as watched her workplace go up in flames. She rubbed her watering eyes partly caused by the painful smoke, but also by the fact that a good man gave his life to protect London town. She took a closer look through the smoke and saw something odd. Within the red and yellow embers was a flash of blue! Rosita rubbed her eyes again thinking she was hallucinating but far in the distance was some kind of… Sphere? Box?

The former barmaid couldn't help but smile. Something inside her knew that London's strange protector had lived to fight another day.
