I'm going to apologise in advance for any confusion, cause I just know I'm going to confuse a lot of readers with this.
I am going to continue Snap Back to Reality!
Welp that was the major update. As for Shifting Sands (which was meant to be the rewrite of this story), that is going on indefinite hiatus, and depending on how well I keep writing Snap Back, I might go back and make a community post just letting you know if I'm definitely dropping it or not.
Also if you're wondering why the word count went down I am going to edit and make some changes to the existing story of Part Two. If you want a list of changes without having to go back and read it all again, I'll list it down here for you.
(I have yet to post the updates so it may take some time) Chapter 57- or Part Two chapter 5 in the drop down list is where the minor changes start from
- Took out any romantic context between Anko and Hina, it is now very platonic
-Small changes to grammar here and there
-Changes in dialogue between Hina and Fugaku regarding her intentions to make him Hokage
Major changes will be upcoming from chapter 66- or Part two Chapter 14 onwards on the drop down list
Also I understand it's been a whole year since my last post on this story. I apologise for that. I'll get into the reason why I stopped posting and started rewriting this story. I had a lot of comments which expressed that this story is too dark for them, and Shifting Sands was meant to cater to that audience, as the tone was a whole lot lighter.
Sure it's a lot darker than Shifting Sands, but I think I've made it clear in all my warnings at the start of the story, so if anyone wants to complain about how difficult it is to read through, they can just put down the story. It's meant to be dark. It's about war and child soldiers, and the people that abuse them. I can't keep sanitising this content. It's way too difficult trying to lighten the tone, when the topics are just really depressing in general. Plus, now more than ever, we need to read challenging stories about dark topics like this—to remind us that this is happening to actual kids in our world. Child soldiers are very much still a thing in some warring countries in Africa right now. There's wars happening where children are losing limb, life, and their families in Myanmar, Chad, Ukraine, Gaza and so on. For those of us who live far away from war, it may not seem so real, but it is.
I don't mean to be dark and depressing about this. I just think art is meant to elicit emotions, and if this story is going to hit on the horrors of war and why it should never ever be something we praise and wish for, then I've done my job.
All this to say I'm going to go on an indefinite hiatus in Shifting Sands and pick up Snap Back from chapter 57, this chapter here. The rewrite will only be going from this chapter onwards. Yes… I have deleted the old version of the next few chapters, but that's because I'm reworking the direction this story is going in. I apologise for any comments that were deleted in the process. AO3 didn't give me the option to keep them.
ALSOOOO If you like my stories check out the Price of Pain, and Good Ol' Fashioned Razzmatazz. Both are reincarnation fics, one about a Shinobi reincarnating into My Hero Academia, and the other about a crack-head reincarnating into Harry Potter. Two very different tones, one very dark, the other hilarious. Choose your pic there as well.
