Chapter 7
Following the attack on Halloween, Will had to admit, he was feeling down. He wasn't the only one, Dustin, Lucas and, most notably to Will, Mike, were in the same boat. All of them were feeling embarrassed at their failures to save Jane. Mainly at the ease in which they had been tied up and subdued. Jane had tried to reassure them, telling them they were all first years, what could they do against full grown and very dangerous dark wizards. Until they brought up Ilya who had fended them off, despite also being a first year. Ilya's response had been to embarrassedly admit that he had simply been trained by his father out of the simple reason of his father's job, which meant he needed to be able to protect himself. He wasn't that power, he claimed. But it still stung for the boys. However Will had something else to think about regarding the incident, namely some interest that he should have expected.
"Will?"
He turned from his seat in the library and smiled.
"Hi Jonathan." He greeted his brother, waiting for the inevitable.
Jonathan slide into the seat opposite his younger brother and looked at him carefully.
"You're looking well…" He said carefully.
Will nodded, waiting for Jonathan to get to it.
He knew it was coming and just waited for it to come.
Jonathan sighed. "So, that's two months you've been at Hogwarts now, you settling in well?"
Will shook his head. "Yeah, it's been great...Jonathan, stop beating around the bush."
"Will, what...fine." Jonathan replied before bowing his head. "I just wanted to make sure you're okay, after all that happened."
"Apart from the bruised ego I share with the other boys...I'm okay, really." Will said. "We'll get over it. Don't worry Jonathan."
Jonathan smiled. "I'm your brother, it's my job to worry. Are you sure everything's alright, nobody is...giving you a hard time?"
"No." Will said. "Don't worry, remember, Vickie is one of my House Prefects, she keeps an eye on me."
Jonathan nodded, knowing that to be true and so instead he pondered for a moment. However their conversation had in fact been overheard.
"Shhhh." Madam Pince snapped as she suddenly appeared next to the boys.
They both started and sheepishly apologized to the librarian. After she left they shared a look, smiled and quickly packed up and left the library so they could talk more freely. As they exited the library Will pondered for a moment.
"Hey, um...Jonathan…" He began. "Do you, know much about Robin?"
Jonathan was startled by this. "Robin, why?"
He knew the girl, not well, but knew her, regardless he was surprised to hear Will asking about her.
Will bit his lip and shifted his feet.
"Um...it's just. I've seen her, around the common room, she...she seems quite, interested in Vickie, but…" He trailed off, stopping as he noticed that Jonathan was smiling.
Shaking his head, amused, Jonathan replied. "Ah, I see...well, the truth is, she has some...strong feelings for Vickie, I'm surprised she hasn't said anything yet."
Will was surprised hearing that, but seeing the look on Jonathan's face, he nodded, agreeing to not say anything at all yet, not even to try and encourage Robin, beyond what was necessary. As they walked onwards however, Jonathan's smile disappeared and he became rather wooden in expression.
"Jonathan?" Will began.
But his brother did not reply, as such Will could only turned and look in the same direction and he felt bad, realizing what he had caused his brother to tense up. He knew that for a long time, his brother had been stoking a crush on Nancy Wheeler. But she was with Steve Harrington and here the two were, enjoying a 'moment' together.
"I'll, I'll talk to you later, Will." Jonathan said uneasy.
Will just nodded and watched his brother leave while glancing over at Nancy and Steve, he sighed heavily but then made his way back to the Hufflepuff common room.

Vickie smiled softly as she returned to the Hufflepuff Common Room, having done her Prefect Rounds and just finished them. She was now ready to return and head for bed. But as she entered she noticed, to her surprise, that the Common Room wasn't empty. A familiar face was still sitting there.
"Robin?"
Robin started and looked up at that, she bit her lip, but then gave her best smiled.
"Oh, hey." She said quietly. "I um, sorry. Guess I was distracted."
Vickie nodded. "Well, what's got you still up?"
Robin shook her head. "Um, nothing really just...studying."
She inwardly cursed at her stupid answer. Vickie's expression made it clear she didn't believe that. But regardless she didn't comment on it. Instead she stepped closer and shrugged.
"Oh, okay. Could I help you maybe?" She asked.
"Ah, um, it's fine, I'm actually done for the night. But...maybe another time." Robin replied nervously.
Vickie smiled. "Okay, just let me know."
With that she headed off to the dorms while Robin watched her go and grimaced, inwardly cursing herself as she was unable to bring herself to admit the truth.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
