AN: Hey guys. I'm back.
There's not much to say, life been kicking my ass for almost a year now. But you guys don't want to hear that. On with the next chapter.
There is a bit more of kingdom building in this chapter, and Harry learns more about Sirius life in the years he wasn't around, the Targaryens, and more importantly, the dragons.
Hope you guys enjoy this one.
Chapter 6
"You know, I never imagined this little village would grow so fast." Sirius said, as he and Harry stood in the balcony of his home, looking over the village.
Harry nodded his agreement. His godfather was right, the village did grow quickly. There were people arriving even during the winter, which thankfully was finally over, and the village quickly grew to the size it was right now, a little over 3,000 inhabitants.
And it would probably grow even more now that the winter was over.
It was four months after that battle, and the winter had just ended. The winter was highly magical, being caused by whatever was up there in the north pole, and Harry could still feel the magic receding even now, a couple of weeks after the snow started to melt.
It seemed like it took a lot out of those white walkers to cause a winter like the one Harry had just lived through. The people of the village thought that it would've lasted longer, winters normally did last longer than the less than two years this one did, but they also were never as cold as this one, at least according to the people, and Sirius.
Harry was pretty sure this winter was colder than others because of him. The white walkers were probably sending a message, telling him that they knew he was there.
Harry wasn't worried. Creatures of ice and cold would never be a danger to someone like him, not with the number of options he had for fire-based magic.
What he was worried about was the kingdom to the south.
With the village growing, it became impossible to stop certain individuals from moving in. One of the immigrants that arrived in the last ship from White Harbor was a spy from Septon Barth, who served as Hand to the king south of the wall, Jaehaerys Targaryen. Harry was able to find the spy pretty easily, mostly because he started using a bit of passive legilimency on everyone that wanted to live in his village.
It was Daphne's idea for the most part, and Harry only put in a token effort in arguing against it, even if he could've done more this time. Sure, he could never say no to his wives, but they weren't in agreement this time, Hermione was pretty against using legilimency like that, saying it was a massive invasion of privacy. So, Harry could've probably argued against Daphne's idea and actually convince her to drop it, but he didn't want to this time.
He wasn't stupid, he knew that his arrival had already made news in Westeros, and even in some parts of Essos, Sirius said some of his friends in Braavos asked him about the village, and about Harry himself. So, even if he would normally agree with Hermione and be against using massive amounts of legilimency, he agreed with Daphne this time. A little bit of privacy invasion was preferable to being blindsided by the eventual idiot that would certainly try to either kill or kidnap him.
He read about some pretty nasty rituals in this world, and his magical blood would be in high demand for some people in the far east.
He wasn't expecting to find a spy so soon though. Sure, it made sense that the major kingdom closest to him would try to keep an eye on what he was doing, especially because most of Harry's people at the moment came from the north of said kingdom. But a spy arriving so soon was a little surprising. His village was small, no threat to a kingdom so large.
"There is something I wanted to talk about." Harry said, drawing Sirius' attention to him. "I found a spy on the last ship, he is reporting to a Septon Barth in King's Landing." He added, earning a brief look of surprise from his godfather.
Sirius knew more about this world than he did. It made sense ask his advice about those kinds of things.
"I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. I didn't expect Barth to be that quick." Sirius said. "Although, I guess it is to be expected, I did visit his city after all." He added.
"What can you tell me about him?" Harry asked, trying to get Sirius to actually say something that could help him, which was easier said than done.
Apparently, the marauders made a point in their school years of being as deliberately annoying to get information out of as possible, mostly to annoy the professors. And Sirius just never stopped doing it.
"There is nothing to worry about." Sirius said quickly. "I visited the Red Keep a couple of times before you showed up, and I know Barth personally. The guy is intelligent and surprisingly laid back for a priest of a religion as stuffy as The Seven, but he should also be pretty harmless. The only thing he cares about is keeping his friend safe and happy, and keeping the kingdom from falling apart, exactly in that order. So, he won't really care about you unless you're a threat to either the royal family or the iron throne." He added, explaining a lot more than he probably thought it did.
What Harry felt when he touched the mind of the spy was mostly curiosity, which wouldn't be the feeling if the spy was there to find out a way to either kill or kidnap him. So, knowing what this Barth was like, added to the feelings of the spy, Harry could already make a pretty solid guess of why the spy was in his village. Probably to find out if it could benefit the kingdom in some way, either for trade, or as an ally to try and stop the tribes north of the wall from raiding the south.
"What were you doing there?" Harry asked with genuine curiosity. "I wouldn't imagine you would ever visit a royal court. Too much politics going on there." He added as an explanation, earning a laugh from Sirius.
"Yeah, the politics were annoying, but I did spend a few months there." Sirius said, still laughing, and again not giving Harry an answer to his question.
"I can imagine, but that's still not an explanation. What were you doing there?" He asked again, making his godfather pout like a little kid.
"You used to be more fun, Harry." Sirius complained.
"Yeah, well, you know how they say that people become a little bit like their spouses once they marry? One of my wives hates not having her questions answered." Harry said, giving his godfather a fake glare, and making Sirius laugh loudly.
It wasn't even much of a lie. Hermione did hate not having her questions answered, and Harry did pick up a little of that same behaviour over the years.
"Fair enough. I was there because I wanted to see if I could become Merlin." Sirius said, still laughing a little, his amusement growing when Harry made somewhat exasperated face at his answer.
Harry could already imagine what Sirius wanted to do, and it is probably a good thing that he didn't end up doing it. The world wouldn't survive it.
"Really, that was your idea?" Harry said, giving voice to the question going on in his head.
"Are you saying you wouldn't do the same?" Sirius asked with a grin. "Jaehaerys is a good enough king to be compared to Arthur, and Alysanne was certainly as beautiful as Guinevere is supposed to have been. It would be the duty of any wizard to try to do a Merlin and become a court mage in this situation." He added, making Harry groan a little, again already imagining what happened next.
"Let me guess, you tried to shag the queen and ended up having to flee the city?" Harry asked. The moment Sirius said the queen was beautiful it was almost a foregone conclusion.
Sirius couldn't stop himself when it came to women.
"No, I didn't flee the city, I just left because I was bored." Sirius explained, honestly surprising Harry. "But I did try to shag Alysanne." He added, and Harry's surprise was gone in just a few seconds.
Sirius would never change.
"She might be old now, but she was hot as fuck when she was younger, even if she was already in her thirties. But she never even showed an interest in me, no matter how much I flirted with her." Sirius said, and Harry groaned in almost physical pain from second hand embarrassment. "It was pretty obvious that she loves her husband, but I don't think she would be against an affair. I'm pretty sure she didn't want me because we're not related. I mean, I'm a Black, my family isn't exactly against 'keeping it in the family', but those Targaryens have us beat. They really like shagging their siblings." He added.
"Well, I didn't need to hear that." Harry said.
He heard about the Valyrian way of 'keeping the blood pure', and it was even more extreme than the purebloods. At least most of the purebloods married people from other families, not their own. Although some, like the Blacks, did marry within the family.
He wasn't going to call them out on it though. Considering the fact that he did have a few idle thoughts about Parvati and Padma together when he actually started paying attention to girls in fifth year. It would be pretty hypocritical of him to judge them for shagging their siblings when he used to fantasize about having a threesome with twins.
Harry confessed his fantasies to his wives during one of their many talks, and he still remembered fondly that one time that Daphne laughed her arse off when Padma found out about Harry's fantasies from Hermione, and teased him about how he probably would've been able to pull it off if he wasn't such a lousy date in the Triwizard ball.
"Still, I think I will have to talk to them someday, maybe visit King's Landing. It is better to talk face to face than having spies constantly sent here." Harry commented, earning a nod from Sirius.
"I think it is a good idea. Jaehaerys is competent in those kinds of things, he is the king so he has to be, but he doesn't really like doing it. He is the kind of man that would prefer to talk things out in person." Sirius said, agreeing with him. "I'm pretty sure that this one is mostly coming from Barth though, maybe the master of coin is looking for trade deals. From what I remember of him, Jaehaerys wouldn't care about a little village north of the wall, even if he seemed a little scared of my magic and would be wary of a future kingdom led by people like us." He added as an explanation.
"That's what I'm thinking as well, and if they want to trade more directly, I would be more than happy to do it, we are already trading with them anyway." Harry said. "Although, if they try to attack the village, thinking that their dragons would be enough. I will defend my people." He added, his words almost a magically binding oath as his magic automatically responded to his proclamation.
"You're dealing pretty well with this whole king thing, especially considering how mad you were when I arrived with the first settlers." Sirius said, with a light teasing tone.
"Like Hermione said, I still have a 'saving people thing', so it should be quite obvious that I would actually try when it became apparent that I couldn't stop it." Harry said, earning a nod from Sirius. "And, more importantly, ever since the battle, the people have been looking up to me a lot more. Before the battle they were respectful, but after it they became even more so. I guess I became a proper king in their mind, and I can't let that many people down, it just isn't in me to do it." He explained, and Sirius gave him a soft smile.
"It is amazing that you still managed to keep that part of you alive with everything that happened to you, the many times you were betrayed by our country and even your own friends." Sirius said in a proud tone. "My time in Azkaban was still clouding my mind back in the day, so I couldn't see it before, but it is quite obvious that despite how much you look like James, you have a lot more of Lily within you. Your mother would've thought the same way." He added.
"Guess it's not just my eyes that I got from her." Harry said in a bland tone, but inside he was feeling pretty happy.
Everyone always talked about his dad, comparing Harry to him because of his looks, but only a few ever talked about his mum, and everything Harry heard about her painted her as an amazing person, one which Harry was quite proud to be like.
"Anyway, what can you tell me about those dragons? How strong are them? How worried should I be if I end up needing to fight them?" Harry asked, trying to understand this different breed of dragon he heard about.
He wasn't expecting having to fight the Targaryens, but one could never be overprepared.
"They are a lot stronger than any dragon from Earth, even that horntail you flew against. The valyrian dragons can grow far larger than any dragon from Earth. Balerion is the largest dragon alive right now, and he is probably close to three times the size of the average horntail, and I've read books about dragons even larger than him during the time of the freehold." Sirius started, painting a bad picture. And it didn't take long for him to make it even worse.
"Apart from size, there isn't much change from the dragons of Earth. The dragons here are highly magical beings, and as such, have massive magical resistance. And the size we are talking about makes them almost immune to any and all magic. I once tried a fucking killing curse on Balerion and he just shrugged it off."
"How were you planning to explain a dead dragon?" Harry asked, failing to contain his curiosity.
"I was disillusioned, and I wasn't even supposed to be in King's Landing at the time. I was in Harrenhal. Besides, Balerion is old, it shouldn't be long before he dies of old age. If it worked, I would just be speeding the process a little bit." Sirius explained, without a hint of shame, reminding Harry of Hermione when she was deep in one of her projects. Hermione could be a bit of a mad scientist. As she once said, ethical concerns could be dealt with when the project was done.
Sometimes Harry wondered how Hermione didn't end up in Slytherin.
"I never imagined you would be that interest in experimenting with magic, Padfoot." Harry said in a joking tone.
"You might joke about it, but I actually do like experimenting with magic. Do you think all those pranks we pulled in Hogwarts were easy to prepare? Most of those spells were invented by us." Sirius explained. "Granted, most of them were made by Moony, but Prongs and I had our fair share of inventions as well." He added.
"I guess that was one of the things that made mum reconsider her opinion of him being a prat?" Harry asked, already imagining how something like that could've happened.
"Yep." Sirius confirmed. "Anyway, back to the dragons. Balerion would be a nightmare to fight with magic, as would Vhagar. Indirect spells might work, but they would just shrug off direct attacks. The smaller dragons are something different. I know for a fact that some major curses work on them. Vermithor is the third largest dragon around, and an asphyxiation curse made him sluggish. And Dreamfyre actually got injured from that cutting curse Snivellus invented, sectumsempra." He explained.
"It is a good thing Rhaena never realized I hurt her dragon. That woman could be scary sometimes." Sirius added, and Harry could almost feel the headache coming.
"Who's this Rhaena?" Harry asked suspiciously. If she had a dragon, then she was a member of the royal family.
"Alysanne didn't want me, but her older sister was quite happy to help an old dog play with his bone." Sirius said, making Harry groan at the pretty bad joke.
"Please tell me no one knows." Harry almost begged.
He could certainly imagine a war starting just because Sirius was shagging the older sister of the king.
"No one found out at the time, we wanted it to be a secret, something just for us. And she's been dead for years, so no one will find out now." Sirius answered in a sad tone.
"Oh… That's…" Harry tried to say something, but he was rendered speechless by the pain he could see his godfather trying to hid.
"Yeah, don't worry about it. I liked her, but she's been gone for years now, and I moved on. Rhaena lived a pretty bad life, and I like to think I made the last year of her life a fun one." Sirius said, the vulnerability in his tone surprising Harry once again. "Now we just have to find a princess for you. Those Targaryen women are almost like Veela in how they age, Rhaena was old, she died at fifty, but she was still hot as fuck." He added, going back to his normal, joking tone.
"You're almost fifty, does that make you old as well?" Harry asked in a teasing tone, happy to move the conversation out sad topics.
"I'm a wizard, and I'm recovered from Azkaban, so I still look to be in my late twenties. And that means I'm twenty eight, not forty nine." Sirius said jokingly. "I can't believe my own godson thinks I'm almost fifty." He added in a fake offended tone, making Harry laugh a little.
"I don't think that's how age works, Padfoot." Harry said, trying really hard to spot himself from laughing even more than he already was.
"It is for me!" Sirius answered like a pouting child. "Besides, you gave me the elixir, so I won't be aging anymore, I'll look twenty eight for the rest of my life." He added, pretty happy with the situation, which was unlike Harry.
He didn't really care about the elixir, even Hermione didn't and she was the one that made the stone. They only took it because Daphne did, and they didn't want to leave her alone. And now Harry only continued to take it because both the portraits and the shades from the stone told him to do it, and he didn't want to disappoint his wives. But he would be more than happy to stop taking it and just live a normal life.
Harry was about to ask Sirius more about his time with the royal family when Dobby showed up.
"Scouty muggles are asking for the great master Harry Potter sir, what should Dobby tell them?"
"Dobby, we talked about this, two words only." Harry said, groaning a little at the embarrassment he could see in his future, courtesy of his laughing godfather.
"Dobby be head elf, head elf needs to proclaim the greatness of master Harry." Dobby answered completely serious, which made Sirius laugh even more.
"Don't worry, Dobby. I'll take the great master Harry Potter sir to see the scouty muggles." Sirius said through his laughter, and Dobby disappeared without a soft pop.
"Let's see what the scouts want." Harry said, moving away from the ledge of the balcony, and silently hoping that Sirius wouldn't make a comment.
"Sirius will go with the great master Harry Potter sir. Sirius needs to proclaim his greatness to the scouts." Sirius said, imitating Dobby, and making Harry groan a little.
He should've known Sirius wouldn't miss a chance to make fun of him.
X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X
"I want two more rune carvers on that stretch of the wall." Harry said to his second in command, Brandon, while pointing at a stretch of wall he had transfigured from dirt a couple of days ago.
"I'll take care of it, your grace." Brandon said, earning a nod from Harry as he walked away.
When Dobby interrupted his talk with Sirius a few days ago, this wasn't what Harry was expecting to happen, but he could say he was pretty happy with it.
Every single scout and hunter were waiting for him in the town hall, and when he and Sirius arrived, they had the same thing to say. They couldn't find a wildling tribe anywhere in the peninsula. The winter had either killed them or forced them to migrate.
Hearing that, Harry acted quickly. It was a massive opportunity that he just couldn't miss out on, so he gathered a couple dozen workers and set out to find the thinnest point of the peninsula, and when they did find it, Harry and Sirius started transfiguring a proper wall with the intention of walling of the entire peninsula.
The thinnest point they could find was far to the south of the village, a lot closer to the wall, which would give them a lot of area that would be safe from raids once the wall was properly patrolled. Still, the wall wouldn't be in a straight line, if he did build in a straight line from coast to coast it would end up with around 102 km (63 miles) of wall, while a L shaped wall would end up with 72.5 km (45 miles) going north to south, and another 21 km (13 miles) going east from the southernmost point. A shorter wall length, while still giving them a massive amount of land they would lose with a straight wall.
He and Sirius were transfiguring earth and a few logs into solid granite, and the workers were carving the runes needed to make the transfigurations permanent. Every transfigured piece of the wall was a square, 10 metres (32.8 feet) tall and thick, and if Harry's historical knowledge was right, it was actually better than most of Earth's medieval walls, and on par with the great walls built by the romans. But, when compared with the walls of the great castles of Westeros it wasn't much, there were some crazy walls in this continent, and he wasn't even talking about the big, icy one.
But none of that matter. Even if the wall wasn't much when compared to the likes of Winterfell, Casterly Rock or the monster that was Harrenhal, it was still more than good enough to do its job, protecting the peninsula from attacks by the wildling tribes.
Harry looked to his right and saw Sirius leading a team of workers through the correct array needed, or maybe he was teaching them the wrong one just for fun. One could never tell what Sirius would do.
Another team of workers were being led by Dobby close to Sirius' team. The little elf seemed right at home doing it, which was a major change from how he was a few years ago. A younger Dobby would never even think about telling a human, magical or not, what to do. Unless he was trying to 'save their life' that is.
After all this time Harry still wasn't sure if Dobby was truly trying to save him, or kill him. That bludger wasn't exactly safe.
Harry smiled a little and then proceeded to transfigure another piece the wall. Some of the more experienced workers, the ones that came with the first settlers and were working with the runes since then, were about to finish the block they were working on.
He heard a loud 'HOOT' and looked up, seeing Hedwig diving towards him. As she got closer to the ground, Hedwig's wings opened as she glided a little, stabilizing her flight, before gently landing on his shoulder.
"Hey girl, how are you doing?" Harry said, running his finger trough Hedwig's chest feathers, and earning an affectionate nibble.
"Hoot, Hoot!"
With her 'words', Harry also received feelings of curiosity and slight danger, as well as an image of a group of five men dressed in all black moving through the forest.
Harry wasn't sure how, but ever since Fawkes joined them, he had started to understand Hedwig better. He always somewhat understood her, but these days he could almost have a normal conversation with his oldest friend.
Hermione had a theory that maybe Fawkes had bonded with him, and the bond was affecting Hedwig due to Harry's own bond with his owl. It was the closest thing they had to an explanation, and it made some sense. Phoenixes could effectively communicate imparting feelings and images directly in the minds of those they wanted, and it was even easier for those a phoenix bonded as a familiar, and Harry had started to understand Hedwig in the same way. So, it made some sense that Fawkes could've bonded with him, and the bond could affect Hedwig.
They would only be able to confirm it when Fawkes showed up again, but the phoenix had disappeared shortly after their arrival in this world. Harry could feel that he was somewhere to the south-east, but not exactly were. His best guess was that Fawkes was somewhere beyond the sea.
"I guess the night's watch is finally aware of what we're doing, and they decided to see for themselves." Harry mused, earning an agreeing hoot from Hedwig.
"Thanks, girl. Are you going to leave again, or do you want to stay for the chat?" Harry asked.
"Hoot!" was Hedwig's response, as well as the image of her firmly planted on his shoulder. HE couldn't understand how an owl could have an imperious tone, but Hedwig pulled it off somehow.
"As you wish, your owliness." Harry said jokingly, earning an affectionate peck on his ear.
"Expecto Patronum!" Harry cast, and the ethereal image of Prongs appeared in front of him.
"Go to Sirius Black!" Harry said, indicating to who the messenger patronus should go. "Meet me at the second gate to the south of here, we have a few visitors arriving soon." He said, and the patronus shoot out to deliver the message.
He was close enough to Sirius that he could've walked the distance and talked to him directly, but from what Hedwig said the black brothers would be arriving soon, they couldn't waste time. He also just liked being free to cast spells whenever he wanted, instead of having to control himself around muggles. Not to mention Daphne's advice that he should show his magic to his people every once in a while, remind them of his power.
Apparating to a stretch of wall already done a few kilometres to the south, he arrived near a weirwood tree.
The trees were still a mystery to him. He could feel the connection every weirwood held with each other, and he could also feel two presences in the consciousness of the trees. One was vast, almost unbelievable so, and it felt distinctively non-human, which caused a bit of a crisis for him. That presence could only be the old gods his people worshiped, and that was the first actual proof of a divine being Harry had ever found, and it was fair to say that neither him nor Hermione were dealing well with it. Harry was actually afraid that Hermione's portrait would spontaneously combust when he told her the news.
The other presence was far weaker, and while it did feel non-human, it was closer to human than the other. Far closer, almost as if a human was changed somehow, somehow becoming more, connected to the trees themselves, almost like what Harry imagined a hivemind would feel like. Countless voices all trying to talk at the same time, all with their own wants and needs, but still all working towards the same goal.
That presence was a lot more willing to work with him, and it helped him understand a bit more about the trees, and their connection to divination. Harry was still awful at it, but, with the help of the presence, which just sent images of crows when Harry asked anything personal about it, Harry was able to find out how to use the connections the trees held to touch one of them and see around another weirwood tree anywhere in the world.
Touching the weirwood, he moved his consciousness towards the other trees, his senses quickly being taken over by the impressions of the closest weirwood to the group of black brothers. They were close, and should be arriving at the small clearing outside of the wall within a few minutes.
Harry's consciousness returned to his body when he heard the pop of Sirius apparating close to him. It was a weird experience hearing things at two different places, but Harry was slowly getting used to it.
"So, the poor bastards decide to finally see what is happening around here?" Sirius asked.
"There is a group of black brothers arriving within a few minutes, I don't know if they are poor bastards though." Harry answered.
"They swear celibacy vows!" Sirius said, as if that explained everything, and knowing him it actually did.
Sirius would rather die than swear an oath of celibacy.
"I guess we should wait for them atop the wall." Harry said, earning a nod from Sirius, and then they started to walk towards the gate tower that held the stairs to climb the wall.
By the time they reached the top of the wall, the black brothers had arrived at the small clearing outside of it. Harry could see them looking at the wall in wonder, and a little bit of fear. But a man with white hair and who looked quite old even from a distance, quickly took control of the rest of the men and got them moving again.
"So, should we welcome them from here, or should we show off a little?" Sirius asked, giving Harry a grin that would probably make McGonagall have flashbacks.
"I guess it doesn't matter if we show off a little." Harry relented, earning a large smile from his godfather.
As much as he didn't want to do this kind of thing, he had to think about his image. He came to accept his role as king, and a king had to look strong. So, showing off his magic would be a good thing.
He heard the gasps of the black brothers as both him and Sirius apparated in front of them. Now looking closer, Harry could see that the old man wasn't as old as he thought, maybe in his late fifties, or early sixties, certainly not the eighty something Harry thought of when he looked at the man from the top of the wall.
"Good morning, gentlemen. What brings you here?" Sirius asked in a jovial tone, and Harry just knew he was missing something.
"It was a good one before I saw you, sorcerer." The old man said in an icy tone, making Harry glare at his godfather, already knowing a headache was coming.
"What did you do, Sirius?" Harry asked, almost demanding an explanation.
"He cost me four good men." The old man interjected, not really explaining much to Harry.
"I just helped them experience the pleasures they gave way due to that annoying oath you all swear. We spent a nice few days in Lys." Sirius said shamelessly, earning a murderous glare from the old man.
"Are the men still alive?" Harry asked again, fearing the answer. He heard from some of his people what happened to deserters of the watch.
"They are fine, and living the high life in Yunkai. They were even joined by a few of the girls from Lys." Sirius said with a grin, and the murderous glare from the old man intensified.
Good. At least his shenanigans didn't kill anyone. One could never know with Sirius. Harry thought, and then decided to move the conversation away from that topic before the old man attacked his godfather.
"Greetings and welcome to the kingdom of Avalon. I am Harry Potter, the ruler of these lands. May I know your names and what are your business here?" Harry said, improvising a little, and making Sirius look at him questioningly.
They talked about what to name the lands when it became a proper kingdom, but they didn't agree on a name. Harry was hoping to have a lot more time to decide on what to name both the kingdom and the village, he never expected to have visitors so soon. So he had to improvise a little, and he said the first thing that came to his head.
"I'm Lothor Burley, lord commander of the Night's Watch, your grace." The old man said, bowing a little to Harry, which honestly surprised him. He didn't think anyone not of his village would actually take them seriously as a kingdom. "And we came here hoping to talk to you, your grace. We heard the foster son of the Black Sorcerer was making a kingdom here, and we hoped to find out your intentions towards our order and the lands we defend." The man explained, not really hiding anything.
Harry liked that. He didn't have time for politics, and this Lothor sounded like the kind of man that didn't have patience for it either.
"Would you like to talk here or inside the walls?" Harry asked. It wasn't as cold as the winter anymore, but it still wasn't a pleasurable temperature, so he wanted to move away from the cold winds.
"I believe my men would be more comfortable talking here, your grace. If it is possible." Lothor said. The men with him visible reacted to his words with relief, and Harry could understand them.
Harry was an unknown to them. The only thing they knew was that he was a powerful wizard. They were probably afraid, and walking into someone's defended position was probably ingrained in them as something they should never do. That, coupled with their fear of the unknown variable that was Harry's magic, made them a lot more wary than usual.
"Of course. It will just take some minutes to make things more comfortable." Harry said, earning a confused look from the black brothers.
Harry proceeded to clear their confusion when he pointed his wand towards the ground a few metres away from them, and them started to transfigure a small room out of the ground. It took a couple of minutes for everything to be done, but when it was, Harry was left with a room that wouldn't look out of place in Versailles, an opulent room with wood panelled walls, marble floors and golden chandeliers. A large table with a throne like chair at the head.
It wasn't his style, but he was once again following Daphne's advice. Image was everything, and he had to portray the image of a powerful, wealthy king, not for himself but to protect his people. His display of power would become a rumour, and the rumour would make others wary of attacking him or his people.
"Please, join me." Harry said, looking at the open-mouthed black brothers.
This will be fun. Harry thought, as he moved inside the room he had just transfigured, Sirius by his side and the still astonished black brothers coming shortly after.
AN 2: This chapter was really difficult to write.
I ended up cutting the meeting with the Night's Watch because I wasn't happy with how it turned out. But we will still see the results of the meeting at the start of the next chapter.
And Harry named his kingdom in a spur of the moment idea. He needed to sound formal to his visitors, so he said the first thing that came to mind
He might be older, but there is still a little bit of that young, impulsive Harry inside of him. Something that will play a part in some events in the future.
Next chapter starts with a different POV, as we see how an old acquaintance of the Lord Commander react to the news of his meeting with Harry.
