REUNION - PART 3

SCENE 14 - DEAN'S OFFICE

The dean of Duke is sitting in her office. The room is enormous, with various oak furniture and many medical books. And despite the cliché, there's an artificial skeleton in one of the corners. Working on paperwork is Elizabeth Corday, who is interrupted by a phone call and answers with her strong British accent:
Lizzie:Dr. Corday.
Elizabeth continues writing despite the call. She only pays more attention when the subject seems serious:
Lizzie:What kind of accident?

SCENE 15 - ROOM ADJACENT TO THE DEAN'S OFFICE

Lizzie:Oh, my God!
As she leaves the room and sees her secretary, Corday is slightly startled.
Secretary:Can you help me?

Corday's secretary is a 70-year-old British woman, with thick glasses and no taller than five feet. The old lady is all tangled up, trying to hang a picture on the wall.
Lizzie:Why didn't you ask someone for help? – walking toward her
Secretary:I'm asking...
Lizzie:There. – picking up the picture – Now let's hang it.
Secretary:Just give me a minute... – the old lady drops the picture – I really need to go to the bathroom.
Lizzie:Mrs. Dupree, didn't I ask you to check that bladder infection? It's serious.
Secretary:I'm a lady. – grabs her bag and heads to the bathroom – And please, don't discuss my bladder in public. I'll be right back.

The old lady leaves the room, leaving Corday, all flustered, trying to hang the picture on the wall. Lizzie now tries to check the position to fit the picture on the nail but isn't very happy.
Lizzie:Damn it...
Weaver:I see you've really moved up in life.
Kerry just pokes her head through the door the secretary had left and watches Corday struggling with the picture. Lizzie smiles when she sees her friend and invites her in.
Lizzie:Don't just stand there watching! Come help me.

The two hang the picture on the wall while chatting and smiling.
Weaver:I suspected deans did everything at the university, but...
Lizzie:This isn't my idea. It's my secretary's... She was my nanny, and I'm doing her family a favor by giving her a job.
Weaver:You mean that woman who was running to the bathroom?
Lizzie:She doesn't do such a bad job...
Weaver and Corday finally see the figure in the picture they were hanging: it's a sadomasochistic depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The two are perplexed as they stare at the picture.
Lizzie:Holy God!
Weaver:Well... There's nothing holy about this one...

SCENE 16 - DEAN'S OFFICE

Corday tosses the picture into the corner of the room. She sits in her chair and talks to Weaver, who is seated across from her:
Lizzie:To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?
Weaver:Well... I'm catching up with old friends. Planning a reunion.
Lizzie:A reunion?
Weaver:Yes. The TV people asked for a special about my years at County. Well, not "my years," but the people I met during that time.
Lizzie:No need to explain. – smiling – I get it.
Weaver:Doug Ross didn't.
Lizzie:What? – surprised – You saw Doug?
Weaver:Yes! And Carol Hathaway too. I saw them yesterday, it was a bit tough, but we scheduled filming for this weekend. You're my second stop. What do you think about a trip to Chicago for the filming?
Lizzie:Ehr... This Saturday?
Weaver:Yes. I'd even do a pre-filming with you, but... I had a little accident, and my production team is sorting it out.
Lizzie:An accident? What do you mean? What happened?

Weaver looks at Corday sheepishly and presses her lips, pushing her mouth to the left side of her cheek.
Lizzie:Kerry... What did you do?
Weaver:I hit a dog.
Lizzie:You hit a dog?!
Weaver:I hit a dog...
Lizzie:Why did you do that?
Weaver:It was an accident! – the two are now more relaxed – I was entering the campus and didn't even see where the dog came from.
Lizzie:It was here on campus?! – Corday gets worried again – Was it someone's dog from here?!
Weaver:Yes. A spoiled girl's dog...
Lizzie:Oh, my God... – burying her face in her hands – Was she a skinny blonde with about a liter of silicone in each breast?
Weaver:That's her! Do you know her?
Lizzie:God, her parents are lawyers for the institution. And she's detestable! – running her fingers through her curly hair – I can't believe you ran over Marmaduke...
Weaver:Actually, I went under him. The dog flew over us...
Corday quickly removes her hands from her face and looks at Weaver hopefully:
Lizzie:And did he die?
Weaver:No, but he will. I'm not a vet, but I think the poor thing broke both hind legs and its pelvis.

The two stare at each other in silence, seriously, until Lizzie comments:
Lizzie:I always hated that dog...
A few more seconds of silence, and the two burst out laughing.

Lizzie:God, I'm screwed...
Weaver:But can I count on you? See you this weekend in Chicago? All expenses paid.
Lizzie:Ehr...
Weaver:I convinced Doug and Carol to meet us. And that would be... unmissable. If they're going, you have to go too, right? Please, for old times' sake.
Lizzie didn't really want to go, but she's slowly giving in...
Weaver:It'll be better than facing Marmaduke's owner.
The dean takes a deep breath... and offers her hand for Weaver to seal the deal.
Weaver:Great! – standing up and handing over a card – Here's my info and the Miami branch's. You can call collect on my behalf. Now I need to go.
Lizzie:Already?
Weaver:Yes. I have planes to catch, and if they cooperate... I can get a decent itinerary. It's just that my deadline is tight, and I need to schedule everything for this weekend.

Corday walks her to the door.
Lizzie:Oh, alright then. I thought you were running away from Marmaduke's owner.
Weaver:That too.
The two stop near the door, smiling one last time.
Weaver:Elizabeth... Thank you so much for agreeing.
Corday looks at her with a hint of happiness.
Weaver:It'll be good to see everyone again. At least most of them...

Both share a final moment of silence and exchange farewell kisses. As Weaver closes the office door, Corday drifts back in time...

SCENE 17 - ELIZABETH CORDAY FLASHBACK

County OR
Elizabeth runs into Doug and Carol in the elevator of the surgical floor at County. The three are silent for a moment but exchange faint, timid smiles with each other.

Surgeons' lounge
Corday is grabbing her things from the locker.
Doug:What do you mean he got worse?
Lizzie:I don't know... Rachel told me. – putting items in her bag – She called me saying Mark had a seizure and... And it seems he can't come back anymore.
Doug:Oh...
Carol:And you're going to Hawaii to see him?
Lizzie:Yes. I managed to get a few days off, so...
Elizabeth notices that Carol and Doug seem hesitant.
Lizzie:Do you want to come with me?

The two take a while to respond... Doug doesn't seem to have processed everything yet:
Doug:Not now. But... We'll go someday.
The Brit puts the bag strap over her shoulder and looks at Ross with a cold truth:
Lizzie:He doesn't have much time.

A few more moments of silence fill the room. Corday waits for an answer from the two. Before Carol can say anything, Doug speaks up:
Doug:No need to say you saw us.

Corday looks at him with a certain coldness, not blinking once, but understanding his reaction. She nods in confirmation. She then turns on her heel to leave when Romano enters the room.
Romano:Lizzie, I was thinking... – then sees Corday's guests

An uncomfortable silence fills the room. Romano tries to lighten the mood.
Romano:Well, well, well. What's he doing here? Is there another kid at County wanting euthanasia, and I didn't know about it?

The silence becomes deafening...

Hawaii - On the beach
A few hours have passed, and now Corday is in Hawaii with her daughter Ella. She enters the beach house looking for Mark, calling his name. Still holding her daughter, she's struck by the beauty of the ocean... and goes upstairs. There, she finds Greene sleeping and sits on his bed. Her husband wakes up, and although very weak, he greets them.
Mark:Hi...
Lizzie and the baby smile. Especially little Ella, who responds to her father's "hi" with an angelic expression.

Hawaii - On the beach - A few days later
Mark and Lizzie are sitting in their chairs, watching the sunset, when he asks her for a favor.
Mark:I need your help with something... It might be hard.
Corday looks him in the eyes...
Mark:I want to write letters to Rachel and Ella. I tried writing... But I can't read my own handwriting.
Lizzie starts to swallow hard...
Mark:I want them to open the letters on special days. You know? On graduation day... When they start college... When they get married...
Elizabeth lets a tear escape.
Mark:Do you think it's cruel? A father sending a message from beyond, on days they're supposed to be happy?
Lizzie:I think they'll cherish every word...

Corday tries to hold back her tears but can't. Mark is proud of his partner. But both are interrupted by footsteps approaching. Greene turns with some difficulty and sees Doug and Carol approaching. The couple is holding hands and greets him with a friendly smile. The Rosses finally get close to the Greenes and... announce themselves. Elizabeth is surprised.
Doug:Elizabeth. Mark...
Mark:Ehr... Hi...

Greene, with some weakness, tilts his head toward his wife:
Mark:Elizabeth... I don't know if delusions are part of a brain tumor... so confirm this for me. I'm seeing Doug and Carol, right?
All four smile...

Beach house - On the beach
Corday and Doug help Mark sit on the living room sofa, while Carol watches the scene, perplexed by what she's seeing but trying not to show it out of respect for her colleague.
Doug:There. Comfortable? – helping Mark sit
Mark:Not really. I'm dying of cancer.
No one in the room liked the joke. Greene quickly looks at everyone.
Mark:I'm sorry. Too much dark humor...
Carol:It's okay.
Mark:So... What brings you here?
Carol:Ehr.. We came to see you, Mark.
Mark:Before I die, right?
Corday:Mark...
Mark:Sorry again.
Doug:I heard a rumor that you weren't doing well...
The two women look at him attentively...
Doug:And we came to see if we could do anything.
Mark:Mm... God complex like all doctors, huh?
Doug:Yeah...
Mark:But it won't help much. I'm a much better doctor than you, and I can't...
Mark takes a deep breath, closes his eyes... and puts his hand on his head...
Mark:And I can't...

He then starts to feel a strong headache. Corday, more accustomed to these moments, approaches her husband and hugs his head, while he arches his body in pain.

Doug and Carol look at each other, startled. Nurse Hathaway stands up but doesn't do anything. She just looks at her husband... Corday exchanges glances with the couple, and without words, communicates that Mark's condition isn't good.

Beach house - On the beach
Mark is sleeping in bed, watched by Doug, who is shaken.

In the kitchen, Corday and Carol talk.
Carol:I had no idea...
Lizzie:Yeah... – wiping away tears
Carol:How are you holding up?
Lizzie:I don't have the right to complain about anything.
Ross comes down the stairs.

Doug:He's still sleeping.
Lizzie:It's been like this almost every day.

Rachel enters the house.
Rachel:Elizabeth, do you need anything from the store?
Lizzie:No, thank you.
Little Rachel then notices the Ross couple...
Rachel:Ehr... Doug? Carol.
Doug:Hi, kid. – finally smiling after a long time
Rachel:Did something happen?
Carol:No, no. Everything's fine...

Beach - On the beach
Mark, Elizabeth, Doug, and Carol are sitting on the beach. All with their feet in the sand. It's 5:30 PM. The women are drinking juice, while the two men are having mai tais. Rachel and Ella are playing in the sea, with the older sister dipping the baby's feet in the water while looking for a seashell. All four are silent, contemplating the scenery...
Mark:Elizabeth... – very weak
Lizzie:Yes, Mark.
Mark:Could you... – miming "writing"
Lizzie:Of course.
Doug:Leave it to me.

Ross is quicker and grabs a notepad and pen from the cooler before Corday can.
Doug: Go ahead, Marky boy.
Mark:Can I... talk... like this? – breathing as he speaks – You won't... get confused... with my speed?
Doug:Go ahead. – smiling
Mark:Mm... Dear ER gang.

Hathaway lets out a warm smile, which is shared by all four.
Carol:You're a gang now?
Mark:Yes... We even have a... secret handshake... It was after... you left for Seattle... laughing
Doug:You're the boss. – raising his right cheek and lowering his head
Mark:So... Here I am... lying on the beach and... it's 5:30 in the evening. Elizabeth and Carol are drinking juice... while Doug and I are having mai tais.
Doug looks at his colleague while writing... and thinks of some changes.
Carol:Are you really going to rat us out, saying the ladies aren't drinking alcohol?
Now it's Corday who laughs warmly. Despite everything, everyone is happy.

After some time, the letter is finished. Mark adds that Ella is waving at him and that Rachel found the shell. After the final period, Corday cries a little more and goes to get Ella, who was with Rachel.
Carol:Beautiful letter.
Doug:Thanks... I'll take credit for it.
The three laugh as they watch the ocean.

Beach house - On the beach
Doug and Carol help Mark lie down in bed. He's getting weaker... and as soon as he lies down, he falls asleep. Downstairs, Corday is washing the dishes when she notices that Doug and Carol have already come down the stairs and left the house. They're talking to Rachel, and she overhears the conversation from the window.
Doug:Movie you always watched?
Rachel:Yeah, my dad talks about it all the time...
Doug:Oh! I bet it'sThe Wizard of Oz.
Rachel:Ew. Really?
Doug:Yeah. – smiling – Your mom loved it.
As they chat outside, Corday checks the letter written by Doug and narrated by Mark.
Rachel:What's the main song from that movie?
Doug:I don't know. No idea...
Carol:Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Rachel:Somewhere Over the Rainbow?
Carol:Yes. Why?
Rachel:Nothing... I just wanted to hear it...
Corday is disappointed when she reads the letter. Doug didn't write his or Carol's name in it...
Carol:If you really want to, I saw a version of that song at the store down the street yesterday.
Rachel:Really?
Carol:Yeah. By a Hawaiian singer...
Rachel:Can you show me?
Carol:Sure.

After a while, Doug enters the house.
Doug:Elizabeth. We're taking Rachel to the store. We'll be back soon...
Lizzie:Sure...
She doesn't turn to face Doug... and he notices the open letter beside

Beach House - On the Beach
It's already night. Rachel returned from the store, now with a CD in her Walkman, but alone. Elizabeth was still in the kitchen.

Lizzie:Where are Doug and Carol?
Rachel:They... said they weren't coming back...
Corday doesn't show any surprise...
Rachel:Where's my dad?
Lizzie:Sleeping.
Rachel:He's been sleeping a lot...
Lizzie:It won't be much longer now.

Rachel understands what Corday meant. And while Lizzie stares at the sea with deep sadness and disillusionment, the daughter goes to show her father the song she found...

SCENE 17 - DEAN'S OFFICE

Corday stares at the door closed by Weaver... and decides to return to the present.

SCENE 18 - NORTH CAROLINA AIRPORT

Kerry is at the counter of Raleigh-Durham International Airport. And she's not happy...
Weaver:Isn't there a direct flight to Iowa?!
Attendant:I'm sorry...
Weaver:How is that even possible?!
Attendant:We don't operate direct flights there. If you'd like, you can make a connection.
Weaver:And what am I supposed to do?! There's a flight to Boston, but no tickets available!
Attendant:Ma'am, unfortunately, fog has closed the ceiling in Massachusetts. It's not our fault if they're closed for landings and takeoffs indefinitely...
Weaver:"Ma'am" nothing! Respect me. – she huffs a bit – How's the connection to Iowa City?
Attendant:There's a flight leaving for Chicago in an hour, and then you'll switch planes and head to Iowa.
Weaver:Mm... Chicago... How much time between landing and takeoff?
Attendant:30 minutes...
Weaver:And if, once there, I wanted a ticket to Iowa hours later? I could take the opportunity to do some business in Chicago...
Attendant:I'm sorry. Only tomorrow...
Weaver:There's only one flight to Iowa from Chicago?!

Kerry glares at the attendant. But she decides to hand over her documents. Once again, Weaver remembers the cameras too late, but this time she doesn't even try to hide her irritation. She just tones down her speech a bit, though she's still annoyed:
Weaver:I apologize for that. I'm usually a calmer person...
The entire production team smiles quietly.

SCENE 19 - IOWA CITY ROAD

It's been over three hours since the team left North Carolina, after a quick layover in Chicago. Everyone is tired, but in the new rental car, they take their usual positions: Weaver at the wheel, the sound technician in the back, and the cameramen on the right side of the car.
Weaver:Unfortunately, a snowstorm prevented me from getting to Boston to see Luka and Abby. And with no direct flights even to Iowa, we had to make a connection in Chicago. Too bad it was so quick, with no time to make any adjustments there...

Kerry is paying much more attention to the traffic now. Despite the area being a desert, with almost no movement.
Weaver:So, since this was the most appropriate route, we're going after Susan Lewis. I saw her not too long ago, so we won't have the surprise factor either.

At an intersection, the light turns red. Kerry starts slowing down before the intersection, but the car behind her forgets to brake. And at a considerable speed, it hits Weaver's car right in the rear.

The cameramen drop their equipment, the airbags deploy, and the one from the steering wheel hits Kerry right in the head. The car moved forward about two meters but didn't cross the pedestrian lane. Still, it hurt a lot.

Kerry is a bit dazed, with pain in her neck and head:
Weaver:Son of a... Are you guys okay?

The production team confirms they're fine, and the person who hit them gets out of their car to check what happened. It's a woman, blonde, a bit shaken by the situation:
Susan:Oh my God... Are you okay?
Kerry looks to the side, and when Lewis puts her head in front of the sun, she can see her:
Susan:Kerry?
Weaver:Susan?

SCENE 20 - CRASH SITE

A few minutes have passed since the crash caused by Susan. She and Weaver are now waiting for the local tow truck, sitting on the hood of the rental car. Not too far away, the documentary crew checks the equipment.

Kerry is confused about what happened. She was hit hard, but it's good to see her colleague. Lewis, on the other hand, is embarrassed by what happened...
Susan:I'm so sorry...
Weaver:It's okay... – massaging her own neck
Susan:I... I was distracted. I'm really sorry.
Weaver:It's okay... Let's just say this was fate's doing.
Susan:What do you mean?
Weaver:Aren't you even going to ask me what I'm doing here in Iowa? – looking at Lewis
Susan:Oh my God! – realizing now – Kerry, what are you doing here?
Weaver:Oh my... – smiling – Do you have a concussion or something to only notice that now?
Susan:I... I was more worried about the crash. – gets off the hood and stands in front of Kerry – But now that you... mentioned it... what the hell are you doing here?
Weaver:I came to see you.
Susan:I'm flattered. – giving a beautiful smile – But why?
Weaver:Ehr... I'm making a documentary about some colleagues I met at County. – calls one of the cameramen and asks to be filmed with Lewis – You're my next invite.
Susan:Next invite? You mean you've already started calling people? That's so cool!

Lewis jumps with joy, and Kerry is puzzled by her colleague's reaction... Meanwhile, one of the cameramen prepares to start recording.

Weaver:Ehr... Yes. I've already talked to Doug, Carol... – making a face like she's about to sneeze – I talked to Carol this morning and...

Kerry sneezes hard. And a bit of blood comes out of her left nostril.
Susan:Oh... – worried, she approaches Kerry – Did you break your nose?
Weaver:I don't think so...

Kerry lifts her head, and Susan starts feeling her face, looking for fractures, while the cameraman approaches to start recording. That's when Weaver notices something important... She points at the cameraman authoritatively and, with just a look, forbids him from filming anything. The man decides to step back, and Kerry turns her attention back to Susan, who hasn't finished checking for fractures... Weaver, now both perplexed and furious, decides to ask:

Weaver:Susan, are you drunk?
Lewis stops the check, takes a few steps back... and with a sly smile, confirms that she is.

Weaver gets out of the car, and the two start talking, moving away from the technical crew.
Weaver:Susan, are you drunk?! – Kerry wanted to yell, but she couldn't
Susan:Just a little. – embarrassed
Weaver:Look what you did – pointing at the cars – You could've killed someone.
Susan:I know. My bad. I'm sorry...
Weaver:"My bad"? – laughing ironically
Susan:It hasn't been a good day, okay? I just got fired.
Weaver:That doesn't matter. It's no excuse for... – realizing what she just heard – You got fired?!
Lewis puts both hands behind her back and timidly confirms with a nod.
Susan:Yes...
Weaver:From the university?
Susan:Yes... – nodding.
Weaver:Why? How did you get fired from an academic position?
Susan:They caught me having sex with Chuck in the classroom.
Weaver:What?!

Lewis closes her right eye, looks at Weaver timidly with her left, grits her teeth, and with a typical "I messed up" face, shows that even drunk and making faces, she still has a beautiful smile.
Weaver:Wow! – perplexed – You were drunk and had sex with Chuck in the classroom?
Susan:No. I was sober, had sex with Chuck in the classroom, and some parents and students caught me in the act, I got fired... and then I got drunk because of it.
Weaver:Parents caught you... – closing her eyes, putting her hand on her head, and not knowing where to start – Susan... What the hell got into you? How did this happen?
Susan:Well, the classroom was empty, and I was writing some reports when Chuck came in with roses...
Weaver:Roses? Didn't you two break up?
Susan:Yes. But we break up every month.

Kerry looks at Lewis, comically disapproving of her friend. Susan makes the face again, now biting the tip of her thumb.
Weaver:So... you had sex.
Susan:Saying it like that makes it sound wrong.
Weaver:Ehr...
Susan:Okay, okay. – gesturing with her hands – It was wrong!
Weaver:If you say so...
Susan:This was yesterday. It was our wedding anniversary.
Weaver:I'm starting to see a pattern here... didn't you two get drunk and married in Vegas?
Susan:Can I tell you?
Kerry lets out a laugh. She's actually enjoying the story.
Susan:Good to know you're enjoying my personal tragedy.
Weaver:Sorry. – stopping the smile
Susan:Anyway... – also smiling – Chuck came with that whole spiel, there was no one in the classroom – gesturing a lot – one thing led to another... and we started having sex on my desk.
Weaver:You don't need to mime that.
Susan:Sorry. – stopping the hip movements
Weaver:No problem. – discreetly laughing
Susan:Well... I was lying on the desk, Chuck was standing in front of me, and... about 30 students and their parents started walking into the classroom.
Weaver:Oh my God... – almost laughing
Susan:It was a... I don't know! Bring Your Parent to School Day. I forgot. So when they were coming down the stairs to the classroom, they saw me with Chuck.
Weaver:Perfect scene.
Susan:I know. – very ironic – There was laughter, screaming, and crying. I cried the most, by the way. Then I was sent home, called into a meeting today... and I'm no longer with the University of Iowa.
Weaver:I'm sorry.
Susan:It's okay. I didn't like it there anyway.
Weaver:Really?
Susan:Just kidding. – lowering her head and slumping her shoulders – I loved that place. It paid really well, and all the students had a crush on me.
Weaver:Huh?
Susan:Like, it boosts your self-esteem. The entire football team had a thing for me, and to be honest, there were about five students I could've easily hooked up with...
Weaver:Susan!
Lewis looks at her colleague and realizes she's said too much.
Susan:Sorry. It's the alcohol talking.

Kerry steps away from her colleague, smiling, and faces the car.
Weaver:This was so wrong, Susan.
Susan:I was joking. – approaching Kerry – I wasn't going to sleep with a student.
Weaver:No, I'm talking about the crash.
Susan:Oh... that...

Kerry looks at the horizon and sees the tow truck arriving. She starts thinking to herself...
Weaver:We'll have to cover this up. If they find out, you could go to jail.
Susan:Thank you...
Weaver:Don't thank me. I need you for the interview. – goes to talk to the technicians – If it were up to me, you'd spend a week in jail.
Susan:Good to know...

SCENE 21 - IOWA CITY AIRPORT

Kerry is sitting in one of the airport chairs, checking her luggage and grabbing her documents.
Weaver:Well, the stop in Iowa was quicker than expected. Unfortunately, we couldn't capture it on video, but we ended up running into my friend Susan Lewis. Who's here with us.
The camera turns and shows Susan, sitting next to Kerry, giving a big smile and waving at the camera.
Weaver:Ehr... – still embarrassed by her colleague – With her, that makes four. Now we're going to get two more. Neela and Ray.
Susan:Neela and Ray? – with a look of disgust
Weaver:What?
The camera focuses on both of them.
Susan:What do you mean, Neela and Ray?
Weaver:Ehr... We're going to Baton Rouge to invite them.
Susan:I don't want to go to Baton Rouge. – staring at Weaver
Weaver:Fine. You stay, and I'll go. – staring back at Susan

The two stare at each other, not speaking or even blinking...
Susan:Let's go to Boston to see Abby and Luka.
Weaver:Ehr... We'll go later. But a fog closed the airport there.
Susan:That's nonsense...
Kerry is about to stand up when Susan grabs her arm.

Susan:Seriously... It's a documentary about your time at County. Your colleagues. And if I remember correctly, Neela had barely graduated when you took over Romano's position.
Weaver:"Took over Romano's position"?
Susan:Sorry. It's the alcohol talking.
Kerry puts her left hand on her face. She's mortified by Susan.
Susan:Like, wouldn't it be better to bring more relevant people from when you were a doctor? Besides, Ray was incompetent. What interesting story could he possibly have to tell?
Weaver:Well, he lost his legs and is now in charge of the physical rehabilitation department at a clinic.
Susan:Ray had his legs amputated?!
Weaver:Yep.
Susan:Great. Now I feel like a jerk for criticizing him...
Weaver:Ooookay...
Kerry is about to stand up when Susan grabs her again.

Susan:Kerry, Kerry. Seriously... You told me you have until the weekend to do this.
Weaver:Exactly. That's why I need to be quick.
Susan:So look at me... Let's skip Baton Rouge. Ray and Neela? Seriously? Let's call Abby and Luka, wrap up the Chicago invites, and then if... only IF we have time, you invite those two.
Weaver:What do you have against Ray and Neela?
Susan:What do you have in their favor?!
Weaver:Ehr... Are you serious?
Susan:Yes. Or, if that's the case, we can invite a bunch more people. Let's go to China to invite Chen, to Poland to see Bob...
Weaver:Alright, I get it. You've convinced me. No need to list anyone else... Especially Malucci.
Susan:Who's Malucci?

SCENE 22 - FLIGHT 332

Kerry is sitting in her seat. Next to her is Susan, doing a victory dance.
Weaver:Enough already, Susan, okay?
Susan:What? – laughing with joy
Weaver:We're already going to Boston. No need to keep convincing me.
Lewis smiles widely.

At that moment, the flight attendant arrives with the food cart.
Flight Attendant:What would you like to drink?
Susan:Whisky.
Weaver:Oh boy...
Flight Attendant:How many ice cubes?
Susan:Neat. That way I get more drink. – smiling, showing all her teeth – Got a straw?
Weaver:Seriously, Susan?
Susan:What? Life's a party. – very happy

The flight attendant hands the glass of whisky to Lewis. As she drinks it through a straw, making an annoying noise, Weaver puts both hands on her face and shakes her head in disbelief.
