As Izuku and Fumikage interned under Hawks in Fukuoka, taking on whatever villains they could find and searching for more, their classmates did their best to try and not fall behind the two chosen by Chiefs.
Stone Agency, Tokyo
Stone Agency.
A fairly new Hero Agency in Japan that opened up in Tokyo and began operations around the same time as Arbor Agency and Mt. Agency. However, unlike the agencies of Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady, this Agency has risen far above the other two by far, and it is all thanks to its founding hero.
Kyomei Himejima.
The Stone Hero: Kyomei.
One of the most talented Alumnus of Slayer Academy and one of the less than fifty S-Class Heroes in Japan. A man standing well over seven feet tall and weighing in at just over two-hundred kilograms of compressed muscle.
No one has yet to figure out his quirk yet – the man has no intentions of detailing it – but that is far from the most interesting fact about him.
That would have to go to the fact that Kyomei Himejima is blind.
Born blind.
Heroes are no stranger to injuries, some of the strongest in the world don't even have all of their limbs, but Kyomei is the only blind man since the first vigilantes to become a hero, much less break S-Class.
And right now, he was standing under a waterfall in the outside training area of his agency, holding strong against the freezing, crashing torrents with his hands in a prayer position…
With his three work-study students that were trying their best to copy him.
"I can't keep d-doing it, m-man!" Sero shouted, trembling under the waterfall, shirtless, with two of his fellow classmates. "T-this water is t-t-too damn cold!"
Sato wasn't fairing any better and was leaning slightly downwards, the temperature of the torrents wearing him down. "I feel l-like… I'm gonna p-pass… out."
"Come on, guys." Only Ojiro seemed to be doing well. "W-we can d-d-do it!" But that façade was fading quickly.
Their teacher, though, was perfectly fine.
"Five minutes remain, young heroes." Kyomei spoke, his deep voice delivering itself perfectly in spite of the waterfall's crashing. "Remain strong."
They had been standing under the waterfall for what felt like hours, but in reality was only twenty-five minutes. It was the last segment of their two-hour, intensive training with the man.
It was broken into four segments that Kyomei had apparently made specifically for them; he called it the Trials of Fortitude.
The first segment was focused on improving their sense of hearing – which they supposed made sense seeing as how their mentor was blind – and sensitivity to changes in the wind.
Kyomei had them blindfolded and sat down, back-to-back, in the middle of the training grounds where he struck a large gong at random intervals, then somehow rung several smaller gongs immediately after all around the area. After the ringing stopped, they had to call out as many gongs as they could; how many there were, what direction it came from, and how far away.
The second segment is where they started the physical training, and Kyomei pulled no punches here. Ojiro, Sato, and Sero were all made to push tree logs and boulders back and forth along a track, big ones. The first half of the segment was done individually with the logs, then the second half had them come together to push the giant boulder.
The third segment moved into combat – their muscles ached the whole time – and the three spent the entire half-hour, no breaks, sparring with Kyomei as the man went just hard enough to overwhelm the three to a manageable degree. He didn't use his weapon though, stating that they 'weren't there yet', and instead kept it hand-to-hand.
That additional handicap meant very little.
Finally, the three unanimously agreed that the fourth segment had to be some kind of cruel joke, because Kyomei called their fourth segment their 'rest segment'.
Half an hour straight of standing underneath a crushing, chilling waterfall, to ease their muscles and cool them down.
Yeah, right.
It was difficult, but they managed it… Somehow.
"K-Kyomei, sir?"
Sero had questions though.
"Yes, Young Sero?" The man kept looking ahead, his blank eyes off with the wind. "What troubles you?"
"I'm just wondering…" The tape-hero-in-training tried to string his thoughts together but found it a little difficult after everything he just went through. "Do we have to do this… Every day?"
This time, the man's eyes did drift towards them, and he cocked his head to the right as if in confusion. "Of course we do." He spoke clearly with no room for misinterpretation. "This is how I've trained myself to become a hero; a method I wish to pass down to you three."
"And we're beyond grateful for that, sir." Ojiro cut in, trying to stop Sero.
"But…" Only for Sato to continue. "W-why us? And w-why is it so…" He felt the water get heavier and tried his best to get the next word out properly. "Intense?"
…
Kyomei, in that moment, finally stepped out from under the waterfall, leading his three students to do the same – they collapsed. "Did you three know I was present at your license exam?" The man felt them shake their heads and nodded. "A good friend of mine has a quirk that lets her project scenes she has watched into another's mind. She was kind enough to accompany me to the exam so that I could find young heroes to cultivate…. And find them I did. In you three."
After drying off his head and – ironically enough – chugging down some water, Sero looked to the giant with more confusion. "Why us three, though?"
"You remind me of myself when I was young." The man could feel their bewilderment on the air but nodded anyway. "'Tis true. I was maybe a year or so younger than you are now when I started my training to become a hero… It was an uphill battle that I almost failed many times, even after graduating. I was quite easily overlooked... Much like you three."
"Huh?!" The three might as well have been under the waterfall with how fast they crashed into the ground.
Kyomei waved his hands lightly and chuckled. "Please do not take much offense from my words, but… Is it not true?" He gestured to Ojiro and Sero. "You two hold quirks that are geared more towards support and mobility, which many of your classmates can perform as sub-abilities of their quirks." Before moving to Sato. "And you hold a strength quirk in a class with Izuku Midoriya and Ejiro Kirishima." Harsh, but true. "You three are – to put it bluntly – the three most normal hero students in your class. You are coal in a pile of diamonds."
When the man put it like that… "Yeah..."
"And I was much the same." Kyomei continued, clapping his hands so the three young men would look back at him. "At my Alma Mater, Slayer Academy, my graduating class was filled with diamonds that shined brighter than my grounded axioms."
"But…" Ojiro tried to find his words and cleared his throat. "You're an S-Class Hero. An actual S-Class, not like the fake ones on the news; the I.R.O.H themselves confirmed your status. We're…" He looked to his friends, and they nodded in defeat. "Kind of… C-Class."
The blind man only tilted his head in confusion and shrugged. "As was I." He once more felt the three crash to the ground and chuckled. "And upon graduation, I was still only a B-Class hero."
"WHAT THE HELL?!" The three were quick to get up from the floor and immediately started firing off questions.
"C-Class to S-Class?!" Sato felt his muscles deflate. "How?!"
"You're only twenty-three, and you've been S-Class for a year… Minus graduation age…" Ojiro did the math quickly in his head and only became more bewildered. "You did the two highest Class Jumps in four years?"
Sero could barely believe it. "Endeavour and Po were training since they knew what their quirk was and only hit S-Class at twenty-seven! How'd you do it?!"
"Willpower." It was only one word, yet Kyomei felt it perfectly summed it up. "I wish not to speak ill of others, but I must if this message is to be received." He could expand though. "In every new generation of heroes, in every country around the world, there are always those that will shine like a star in the sky. Bright, powerful, seemingly unreachable."
The three Yuuei student could think of a couple faces… Some of which from their class.
"Other heroes will look upon them, look back at themselves, and assure themselves that they can never reach that high. Many heroes do this; many find comfort in the middle…" Kyomei's grey eyes suddenly went hard and the air around him shifted. "But that is not what I believe a hero to be."
The three teens snapped to attention as they felt it.
"Even a hero who feels they are in the middle or the bottom can still jump and try to fly! Even coal buried in the mountains can become diamond with enough pressure! For the sake of those we endeavour to save, why shouldn't we always try our best?" Even though he was blind, the three felt like he was looking through their souls. "A hero must have an indomitable will and the drive to push even when a boulder is in front of them! So, Young Ojiro, Young Sato, Young Sero, that is why I depart this training on to you! So that when you come upon the boulder on your paths, you can smash it with your fists! So that you never find comfort in the middle, feel less than the stars above you, and can stand with ALL your MIGHT!"
It was so weird, even though they had finished the waterfall training, the three still had water in their eyes.
Oh, they were crying.
"Thank you, Kyomei, sir!" Bowing down deep, the three shouted their gratitude to their new mentor and hoped that they could live up to his expectations. "We'll try our hardest!"
The blind man could only keep smiling. "That's all I could ask for."
Fat Gum Agency
As the three new disciples of the Stone Hero doubled down on their training, two more of their classmates did the same.
Though, in a much less stressful way.
"A hero's always on duty, little fellas!" A large, round man in yellow, zippered hood exclaimed to Akira and Kirishima as they sat in his agency's dining room. "And that takes a lot of energy, so it's good to stay stocked up on food as much as you can!"
This was Fat Gum, a very popular and terrifyingly effective Support Hero that stood comfortable as one of the top five most defensive heroes in Japan. He was a giant of a man, more so than All Might and Endeavour, standing just under nine feet tall, he stood out as a terrifying figure.
And right now, he was happily feeding his gathered interns a buffet.
Each.
"This is so good!"
"I'm never gonna have abs! And I don't care!"
"This is a lot. Yay."
They all loved it.
"That's the spirit, newbies!" Fat Gum shouted proudly, patting the two fresh interns on the back as they dug in on the chicken. "Aside from keeping you nice and full, an extra layer of fat on top of the muscle you already have is a good way to up your defence. Especially you, Red Riot; having a bit more fat to harden over your dense muscles will make you even tougher!"
The only seemingly uncomfortable person in the room was Tamaki, who was shyly scoffing down just as much as the other two, albeit much quieter. "I knew you two… Would fit in…" He whispered quietly in between bites. 'Maybe they can take Fat Gum's attention off me so I can patrol in peace.'
As if sensing his protégé's hope, the jolly fat man walked right up to the elf boy and pet him on the head. "Alright, after you all finish up, I think I'll have all four of us patrol in Tsukarifu Ward, and Suneater will be taking point."
The two youngest interns, happy for a mission, threw their hands up in the air. "Yeah!"
The oldest, however, just let his head sink as he finished his food. 'Man…'
Heights Alliance
Back at Yuuei, with more than half of their fellow classmates on leave for their work studies, the remaining students of 1A were able to get through their classes much faster than usual and now had an early day.
Mina, Hagakure, and Aoyama immediately took the opportunity to go shopping out at the closest mall, the former two for some new clothes and the latter for a new selection of cheeses and crackers that had just arrived from Europe.
Jirou had just flown off to her usual spot in Ground Omega with her guitar and a notebook, deciding she'd spend the rest of the day songwriting and trying to be at peace with nature.
And Shoji and Tsu took off to Gym Alpha so that they could hit each other.
This left Momo and Kaminari together back at their class's shared home…
Lying on the couch channel surfing.
"-illain fights destroyed your car? Your business? Your cart? Come on down to Cabbage Cart Insur-"
"-in other news, rumours of the resurgence of the old terror cell known as the Sovereign in United Korea – a group that took the combined efforts of All Might and the I.R.O.H Chiefs of the time to-"
"Take your hero cosplay to the next level with Detnerat's new line of Junior Grade Support Gear! All the looks, none of the danger-"
"Denkiiiiii!" Sighing, Momo turned the T.V off and let herself roll off the couch and hit the floor face first. "There is nothing for us to do, nor watch."
Upside down on the back of the same couch, Kaminari just nodded as he absentmindedly played with his quirk. "I know, Yaomomo… Everyone else is out fighting villains for real and saving people while we're stuck playing house."
Momo rolled over again and began staring up at the ceiling. "Do you think any of them are in trouble?"
Kaminari dissipated the lightning in his hands and rolled down to the actual sitting part of the couch to stare at the onyx-haired girl with a nod. "Always." Before tilting his head. "Do you think they'll get out of whatever trouble they're in?"
"By the skin of their teeth." The girl just kept staring at the ceiling before looking back at the blank T.V and feeling her muscles soften. "Do you think we should be training instead of lying around as if sloths?"
Kaminari nodded again. "Yeah, probably…"
…
"Wait." Suddenly getting an idea, Momo sat up with a smile on her face. "We are free! We can go on a walk again!"
ZRRRT!
The sound of lightning and thunder cracked in the room and Momo looked up to see Kaminari already at the dorm's entrance, holding open the door. "Bakugou, Midoriya, and Hikaru keep saying that Musutafu is a pretty rough place to walk around during the day."
The young woman's smile turned into a grin as stood up fully and grabbed her jacket from the couch. "Good enough for me!"
Musutafu City, One Hour Later
"I mean… We've had quieter days." Kaminari started as he sat on the edge of a building. "But today has seriously been boring. The worst crime I've seen today is some perverts try to mug an old lady – who then slammed them into a wall!"
"Perhaps we have misunderstood Katsuki and the others." Momo reasoned, flipping a butterfly knife around in her hand next to her friend. "Maybe they meant that the people of this neighbourhood are rough in nature, hence walking around would be dangerous if you look at someone the wrong way. However, in terms of crime, because everyone is so rough, criminal activity is rather low."
The electric blonde was actually able to follow that and nodded at the logic. "That actually makes a lot of sense." Before sighing loudly and throwing his head back. "Man! I was really hoping we'd at least get one super bad guy."
His onyx-haired friend seemingly agreed as she re-absorbed her knife and stepped off the edge onto the roof. "As was I. Though, I suppose we should not have expected a major villain attack to occur wherever we walk in a country with the lowest crime rate in the world."
CRASH!
BOOM!
"AAAHHH!"
"Call a hero!"
"Run! Run! RUN!"
Momo barely kept the smile off her face. "Then again, there is a power gap that is causing them to rise."
Kaminari didn't even bother to hide his and activated his quirk, putting a cloak of yellow lightning around his body. "Now that is more like it!" Standing up, he quickly noticed a column of rising smoke and pointed it out. "Looks like the accident is just a couple blocks over! And with how spread out the heroes are here; we could deal with the whole thing before anyone else arrives on scene!"
"What are we waiting for then?" Jumping over her friend, Momo cleared the gap between where she stood and the next building before continuing to jump run across the rooftops towards the accident. "Let's go!"
Not wanting to be outdone, Kaminari sprinted right after her, his quirk letting him keep up and clear the buildings just as she did.
And, in no time at all, the two were able to make it to the scene and quickly posted up so that they could take stock of what they were dealing with.
CRASH!
"Aggghhh! Stupid competition! I should have won!"
And saw a crazed-looking, tall, lean-buff young man with short, crimson red hair punching everything around him with great success. Despite his lean stature, his punches were throwing cars and cracking the ground with each strike. There was also the way he was punching that caught one of their eyes.
"He's a boxer." Kaminari surmised, taking in the young man's technique and hand-wraps just visible under his jacket sleeves. "Bouncing on his heels, turning his torso at the angle that'll give him the most torque, his overall stance. Dude's definitely a boxer."
Momo looked to her friend with an impressed smile and nodded in agreement. "No matter how many times I see you use your brain, I am always taken aback." And, ignoring his slighted look in her direction, she looked back to the scene and noticed a civilian that she was sure wasn't there a moment ago. "Denki! Civilian!"
The blonde shifted his sight back down to the scene and saw that, indeed, someone that wasn't there a moment ago was crawling along the floor towards the scene. "Now where did she come from?"
"Hey! You! Where'd you come from?" A cold chill ran down the two hero students' spines as they saw the villain turn towards the crawling girl. Then he smiled. "This is perfect! Heroes always fight harder when a hostage is around… Or if they see a corpse."
The young woman in question looked at the villain in shock before looking down at her hands like she was surprised to see them. "Shit! Of all the times!"
"Denki-"
"Got it!" Not needing to be told, Kaminari activated his quirk, zipped down the sides of the building, and burst towards the girl on the floor before the villain could take a proper step in her direction. "Hi, sorry, I'm going to lift you up and take you out of here, okay?"
Despite the clear and concise communication of what next actions were to occur, the girl looked confused. "What?" Then, still processing what the blonde said, she was hoisted up by said blonde and disappeared with him from sight.
It clearly seemed to confuse the villain as well, as the red-haired young man just stood looking at where the two were while scratching his head. "What in the wor-"
"Smash!" Which was a bad idea as Momo used that distraction to jump down from the building and throw a running, jumping, right cross right at his face, sending him tumbling down the street. "Apologies for the surprise attack, but I cannot in good conscience allow you to continue this rampage."
The man got up from the attack rather quickly but was holding his jaw. "What the…" Before looking at the girl who punched him and tilting his head. "Who the fuck are you?" Kaminari chose that moment to flash back onto the scene and posted up right next to Momo. The way they stood combined with the fact they were wearing near identical street brawler outfits made the man smile a little. "Are you two heroes?"
Kaminari waved his hand in a so-so motion. "Well… Neither of us have had an official debut yet, and we still only have our provisional licenses…" Before looking at the man and flaring his quirk. "But as far as you're concerned, yes, we're heroes."
"Hero students." Apparently, that wasn't enough for the man as his smile dropped and was replaced with a snarl. "I need a real hero to fight! Not some freshmen!"
"You want to fight a hero?" Momo tilted her head at the man while using the time to also scan around for any more civilians. 'Coast seems clear.'
"I NEED to fight a hero!" The young man threw off his jacket at that, revealing that he was wearing nothing underneath and showing off arm wraps and a tattoo of boxing gloves over his heart. "I was supposed to win the Annual Rookie of the Year Competition today, but I lost since I wasn't allowed to eat before my match, so my quirk was useless! And that son of a bitch Shoda won!"
Kaminari also used the time to search for civilians, but his searching seemed more frantic. "Momo, that girl I took out of the scene said that she was sneaking in here since her little Sister is around here somewhere."
The onyx-haired girl's eyes widened, and she quickly scanned the rubble and scene again before coming up with a plan. "Alright, I have the better hand-to-hand skills, and you are more suited to search and rescue. I shall hold him off and keep our collateral damage low while you search around for the girl, okay?"
"Got it."
"-and I told that smug fuck that not even a pro hero could beat me if I could use my quirk, much less someone whose little Brother beat them into Yuuei, and he laughed!" Not noticing their conversation, the villain continued his rant and punched his fists together. "So, I'm gonna prove him wrong! Heroes like Death Arms and Fighter Fist patrol around here; I'll beat them and then Shoda's trophy is going to mean nothing!"
Upon hearing that, Momo decided it would be best to wrap things up before either of the mentioned heroes got whiff of the situation, and they'd have to explain themselves. "You shall have to settle with I… Brawler." Yeah, that sounded like a good on-the-fly name. "Though, think not that this shall be easy." And with that, Momo stepped out. "Denki, find the girl…" And Genesis stepped in. "I'll handle this noise."
"You know what, fine!" The villain seemed to come to terms with the situation and wrung his hands out and bounced on his heels. "I'll need a good warm up before the real heroes get here."
Momo and Denki both burst from their positions, the latter to find a child, and the former straight down the street while her Siege Gauntlets formed on her fists. "You'll need an ice pack after I'm done!"
Brawler's eyes widened as he saw the size of the gauntlets on the girl's fists – why were they that big? – and activated his own quirk, making his fists glow red as he reeled back a punch. "Carbo-Cross!"
BOOM!
His right cross met Momo's own just as both of their strikes reached the apex of their power, and the resulting shockwave cleared out any and all debris around them.
'Powerful.' Momo thought as she felt the dent in her gauntlets. 'Wait…' But, after the initial force of the blow, she realised that she couldn't feel any continued force from the villain and pushed forward hard.
"Agh!" Letting her push his arm aside and sock him right in the face. "Fuck, that hurt!" Brawler's fists glowed red again and he quickly put up his guard.
At the same time, Momo's decided to put her gauntlets back into her stores. 'This should be fun.' And bounced forward on her toes. 'Good thing I had that buffet before we left.' Before also putting up her guard.
Brawler took the guard as an invitation and slowly moved forward. "Let's go, bitch!" Then threw forward a double right jab once he got close enough.
"Gladly." But Momo simply moved her head back from the first one before driving forward and slipping around the second to punch her opponent in the face.
"Fuckin' agH!" The blow struck true, and the villain stumbled a little bit. 'Shit.' Then saw the hero student moving forward and quickly threw a left hook.
Momo, of course, crouched under it easily. 'Body, face.' And delivered a hard right to his body followed with a right hook to his face.
Really disoriented now, Brawler tried switching it up and swung his right arm. "Shtupid bish-AGH!"
'Body, face.' But could barely finish the punch before Momo slipped under his strike and delivered the same two-piece, body-face combo with her left.
At this, Brawler took a few dazed steps back and did the only thing he thought could work. "Carbo-Cross!" A straight-forward right cross with his quirk activated.
Thud!
"Hng…" Which Momo caught with her own right hand. "Guess I was right." It hurt like hell, but after the impact force wore off, she couldn't feel any strength in his arms that she couldn't overcome with her own.
So, she shoved him back.
'Fuckin' what?' The villain barely caught himself after his stumbling and tried his best to get back into his head while putting up his guard. 'She shouldn't be this strong!'
The onyx-haired hero student didn't let her opponent get much breathing room after her put his guard up and immediately advanced. "You telegraph too much. Even with your quirk, I believe this Shoda you lost to still would have won." Before feinting two left jabs and throwing a right cross through his guard and into his face. "You are quite easy to figure out." Then, with his head in the clouds, she delivered a powerful front kick to his chest, throwing him down the street.
"Agh! Oof! FUCK!" Brawler couldn't even catch himself and bounced off two piles of rubble before banging into a pole. "Dumb bitch, the hell do you know?" In spite of this, he – impressively enough – still managed to get to a knee.
"Your quirk…" Momo decided to take his question literally and smiled. "You said 'Carbo-Cross' and were complaining about your quirk being useless due to not eating. There is also the fact that when you strike, it is done with an incredible amount of force… But you are unable to persist-"
"Carbo-Cross!" The villain tried to use her talking as a distraction to rush up against the girl, his legs going red and getting him in front of her in an instant. "Hgn!" But was side-stepped and became victim to a clean and powerful left hook right into his abdomen, taking him to his knees. "Holy fuck, is that what that feels like?!" He tried to wheeze for air but couldn't focus as the girl in front of him kicked him back down the street, this time smashing him into a car.
"Your quirk would be something along the lines of Carbo-Load then." Momo, unphased, continued her analysis. "You eat food, the 'carbs' are stored in your body, and at any moment you can grant yourself virtual mass. That would drastically increase the PSI of your impact force but would be useless in a prolonged struggle."
Brawler took a hard breath as he stared at the girl in front of him with horror. "How the fuck did you get all of that from my complaining and a punch? That's bullshit!" Before attempting to stand up. "And how the fuck are you so strong? I'm pretty sure I recognise you; you're that heiress girl from Yuuei. Your quirk is supposed to be Construction or Builder or some shit. Where is this strength coming from?!"
"That information is not for the ears of villains." Momo said as she started walking up, creating wrappings to put around her fists instead of her gauntlets. "Now, get up."
The villain really didn't want to oblige her after being taken apart like a chicken and having his liver shot, so quickly looked around for an escape. 'Yes!' And found it inside the car he'd crashed into. "Come here!"
"No! No! NO! Let go of me!"
Momo immediately stopped her walk as she saw the red-haired man pull a little girl out of the car behind him and hold her up by the back of her neck. "Shit."
Her hesitance brought a smile to the villain's face. "Yeah, that's right. Stay back, otherwise I'll throw this brat into a building or something." The little girl in question squirmed in his grasp and he squeezed her head a little. "Stop that, little bitch!"
He must have had sharp nails, because a small bit of blood started pouring down different sides of the girl's head, silencing her. "O-okay…" She sniffled in fear and looked at the girl in front of her with a pleading look.
Momo just stood there with a blank face. "So, you remembered the little girl and decided to use her as a hostage." She nodded like she was impressed – she wasn't – and clapped her hands mockingly. "Congratulations. Though, I believe you may have forgotten something."
The villain just kept moving back as he scoffed. "And what would that be?"
"Me."
Faster than anyone could process, the little girl in Brawler's grasp disappeared and ended up in Momo's arms, before a limited-edition Skycrawler Three was being smashed against the back of the villain's face, smashing him into the ground.
"Goddamnit! You fucking kids!" The villain was obviously pissed off by this and activated his quirk across his entire body. "This hurts, you know!"
"That's the point, bastard." Kaminari backed up as the villain tried to horse kick him and quickly extended his index and middle fingers before dancing them around in a circle. "Momo." Then, quick as lightning, he shot out a stream of electricity to the man, locking him in place. "Finish him."
The onyx-haired girl smiled as she put down the little girl and rolled her shoulders. "One moment, little lady." Before bursting forward with her legs and getting in front and above the villain in an instant. "K.O!" And throwing a powerful right cross into his face, knocking him down and out.
Kaminari let his beam go immediately after he saw the man go down and nodded in approval. "Nice." Before looking to Momo with a wide smile and holding his hand out. "And even nicer on that fight, you gave that guy a mean beatdown."
Momo took the hand with her own smile and shook it firmly. "I honestly do not know how he can claim to have made it to the finals match of the Rookie of the Year fights." Before unwrapping her hands and absorbing the tape. "His form was above beginner at best, and he resorted to swings as soon as he was disoriented."
The blonde just shrugged. "Eh, maybe the competition this year was lacklustre. Either that or you're just too strong." Then, remembering something, he quickly turned to the child and ran over to her. "Oh, kid, almost forgot about you." He knelt down to her and quickly took out some wipes from his back pocket to get the blood off her face. "No need to be scared anymore, little lady, the bad man is out for now."
Said little girl looked at Kaminari with teary eyes and smiled. "Thank you!" Then looked at the other hero student with the same expression. "The bad man is down?"
Momo nodded at the two of them and got quick on restraining the villain with ropes from her quirk. "And he is going nowhere." Before looking back and tilting her head. "Do you think she will need a doctor, Denki?"
"That won't be necessary."
Momo and Kaminari's quirks activated on reflex and the two were crouched beside the little girl and scanning the area for whatever was making their instincts scream.
"Oh! Oh! Oh!" But before either of them could find it, the little girl looked up and smiled widely at a shadowy figure in the sky. "Mr. Midoriya! Big Sis!"
Hisashi Midoriya floated gracefully down to the ground in front of the three children and gave them a smile that reminded two of them of one of their strongest friends. "Hello there, little Haruhi." Before letting down the girl Kaminari had run off from his shoulders. "In need of a fix-up?"
Haruhi nodded readily but ran up to her Sister first. "Big Sis-"
"Thank the weave you're okay." The Big Sister in question picked up her younger sibling in a crushing but gentle hug. "And only a little bit of blood… That's fixable." She turned back to Hisashi with a raised eyebrow. "Right?"
The large, white-haired man just held out his hand and twirled his finger around Haruhi's head. "Very much so." A green light followed his finger as he did so, and he drew three circles that all solidified and enclosed themselves around the young girl's injuries. "Give it a day and you'll be alright." Then, with that done, he sliced his hand through the air, ripping the fabric of space open as he did so and creating a blue rift. "Now go on, your Grandmother is worried sick about both of you."
The Big Sister nodded gladly at that and readjusted Haruhi in her grasp as she bowed her head. "Thank you so much, Mr. Midoriya!" Before turning around and doing the same to Momo and Kaminari. "And two you two as well! Thank you for saving my Sister!"
Haruhi bowed her head as well with a wide smile. "Thank you both! You're really strong and cool!"
The two hero students were still a little shocked from seeing Izuku's Father in front of them and just waived weakly as the two walked into the rift and disappear. "No problem…" Then, as soon as they were gone, the rift closed up.
Leaving Hisashi to walk up to the restrained villain and address the two hero students. "That was very impressive work, you two." The man said as his large hand wrapped around Brawler's head and glowed red. "You disabled this young villain quickly and even managed to keep collateral and civilian damage to a minimum…" The red glow slowly got brighter and brighter around his hand until he pulled it away and held a small, red marble. Which he then absorbed through a hole in the middle of his palm. "Not to mention your response time, it's almost as if you were waiting for it to happen."
Momo and Kaminari winced as the man called them out and fidgeted a little. "W-well, you see, sir…" The former of the two tried her best to think of an excuse, but she genuinely couldn't think straight with the man in front of them. "Okay, fine, we were waiting." So, she decided the truth would have to do. "Denki and I have yet to receive a work-study that would allow us to do put our provisional licenses to use, so we go out for 'walks' and help in areas we can."
Kaminari looked at the girl like she was crazy before going blank as he remembered that she was. "Yeah, that's kind of it." So, he just shrugged and went along with it. "We came here since Bakugou and Mid- Your Son said that this place was a rough neighbourhood… Though, it hasn't been living up to that."
Hisashi looked at the two for a moment with silence before shaking his head with a smile. "Well, in their defence, Musutafu without me here was an incredibly rough neighbourhood. Small crimes were an abundance in this city; most of them assault." Then, standing up, he held out his hands and let several different coloured orbs shoot out of them and orbit around him. "But, now that I'm back, I'm continuing what I did all those years ago."
Kaminari awkwardly smiled with trepidation. "And that would be…?"
"Taking the quirks of criminals that cannot be trusted to be safe with them and protecting where my family lives." Hisashi answered with finality and stood straight. "Hm…" Before his ears twitched and he re absorbed the orbs around him back into his hands. "Anyhow, I don't think I need to tell any of your guardians of this matter, I'm in no place to do so, if I'm being honest. Everything I'm doing is also technically illegal." But just before he walked off, he looked at them one last time. "Though, I'd suggest going to another city if you want to fight more crime; this area is mine."
The man disappeared as he arrived after that – without warning – and the two hero students continued to stand still and watch where he was.
Well, until they heard the sirens.
"Shit!" Activating his quirk, Kaminari ran into the nearest alleyway and began to scale up the sides of the building. "I know that Midoriya's Dad is a good guy and all but wow he's still intimidating!"
Momo wasn't far behind – she was actually ahead – and nodded. "Indeed. It is no wonder we have seen so little crime today; he is taking away criminal's ability to be repeat offenders."
"That's such a bullshit and broken quirk." Kaminari slowed down once he realised they had outrun the sirens and decided to take a pause on an A.C unit. "He can just stack up on different powers as much as he wants."
His onyx-haired friend tilted her head at that. "Yes indeed. Though that quirk he just took would not be helpful without other quirks enhancing it." She stated, taking a seat next to him. "I do not believe it was a powerful quirk."
Her statement seemingly flipped a switch in Kaminari's head as he turned to her fully. "Actually, I'm glad you brought that up. Something that Brawler guy asked was a completely valid question." Before tilting his own head at her. "How are you so strong?"
"Wait, you know not?" Momo raised an eyebrow at her friend and leaned back a little. "I thought everyone knew. You all always seem to talk about it."
"Yeah, talk about how you can smash a stone pillar in half with your bare hands without a strength quirk." Kaminari amended with a lost look. "We don't actually know how you do it!"
The onyx-haired girl was clearly surprised by this but waved it off. "Oh, well, I shall simply show you now." Before sliding off the A.C and standing on the roof with her arms wide open. "Try to pick me up."
"Huh?" Kaminari tilted his head in confusion at the question. "Is this some sort of test?"
Momo gave him a flat look as an answer. "Just pick me up, Denki."
"… Okay." Confused but also not wanting to be on the wrong side of his crazy best friend, Kaminari obliged. "Hng… Hm…" Well, he tried to, at least. "Hold on one sec." However, despite planting his feet into the ground and lifting his best, the blonde couldn't even budge her off her feet. "Uh… What?"
Momo took a second to laugh a little at her friend before putting her arms down. "That there, Denki, is the reason why I have enhanced strength." She started. "My quirk lets me use basically everything I consume to craft my constructs, yes, but it also has a secondary feature of allowing me to consume and store several times more food than the normal person could." The girl lifted up her jacket and pulled a scale out of her stomach at this before laying it down and stepping on it. "Take a look."
Kaminari once more wondered internally if that was some sort of test, but his curiosity didn't let him hold out for long. "What the what?!" And the number he saw shocked him – pun intended. "You weigh over three-hundred kilograms?!"
"Indeed." The onyx-haired girl nodded at him with a small laugh. "The excess mass I have is spread evenly throughout my entire body, which grants me compacted bones, muscle fibres, and tendons that are far stronger than what they would be if I had an average BMI."
"Oh…" The blonde was actually able to follow that logic and put his arms on his waist while tilting his head. "That… That's so cool; you're a super soldier."
"Stronger, actually." Momo corrected before nodding. "But, yes, I am a super soldier." Then she re-absorbed the scale and pet her stomach. "A hungry one at that; I saw a very nice Korean place on our way here. We can pick up on our vigilante adventures tomorrow… Perhaps somewhere not here."
The thought of Hisashi's red eyes and the countless orbs representing the quirks he had stolen entered Kaminari's mind, and he nodded. "Yeah, I think that's for the best."
To Be Continued…
6989 Words!
Hello, all! Sorry for the late post, but this isn't even part of the main storyline, I was just writing down some small ideas for other members of Class 1A and thought I'd put it together here in this short chapter.
Introducing Kyomei Himejima, one of Japan's actual S-Class combatants, then a small insight into what Akira and Kirishima are getting up to – food – and a fun segment for what Momo and Kaminari do when they're bored.
Just an interlude chapter, but this stuff will be brought up later, so I guess it's more of a precursor as well.
Anyway, gonna get back to writing the actual next chapter.
Bye!
