Quinn decided to stay the night over at Kurt's, but first she needed to drop by her house for her things. When midnight came around, Quinn sneaked in and packed her essentials, along with her soccer gear. Two duffle bags and a backpack, the blonde glanced around her room once more. Goodbye old me and hello fresh, new and improved Quinn. With her heart feeling lighter, Quinn made her way back to Kurt's house
The guest room was all to her where she dumped her bags, changed and crashed on the bed, knowing Kurt was an early riser.
…I want to be yours, Quinn Fabray… Make me yours…
Quinn woke with a start; sweat upon her forehead. She briefly checked her phone: nine thirty am. She groaned, falling back into her pillow. "What the hell was that…" She pushed herself up deciding she wasn't falling back to sleep and forged on for a nice shower.
"Good morning, love," Kurt greeted as he placed a coffee and a small parfait in front of her as she sat at the kitchen counter. "Ready for a riveting day? We finally are going to see our dorm room." He excitedly stated, bringing out a small tray of sliced melons. "Not only that, but I know you don't know, we are finally out of the fresh dorms and moving into junior halls." He spoke dreamily.
Quinn lifted her eyebrow as she sipped her coffee.
"Oh, sorry. The dorms I was in last were terrible; all those young boys were so dirty and filthy. Now I have you as a roomie and we're only lodging with Juniors and Seniors so it's going to be an amazing year sweetie!" His smile grew as he popped a melon into his mouth.
Quinn laughed, indulging in her strawberry parfait. "Well sounds like I really got lucky then."
Finishing their breakfast off, the two friends loaded up their cars and took off to campus.
Arriving at McKinley, Quinn realized how big the school actually was.
Wow. It looks about three stories high, and wow, a five tier parking garage is nice. She commented to herself, following after Kurt into the parking area. They parked, deciding to leave the unloading till they received their dorm assignment.
"We've got to stop by the courtyard to pick up schedules, parking passes, and room assignments." Kurt spoke as he led her into the school's courtyard which connected to the parking garage.
Surrounding the courtyard were three buildings with students littered everywhere. Quinn noticed everyone heading in the same direction where booths were set up.
A snap brought her back to Kurt who looked a little peeved.
"What?"
"What?" He echoed. "Quinn, I just told you where and what booths you need to go to!" He pressed his fingers to the bridge of his nose. "Ok, to make it quick and easy I will pick up our schedules along with our dorm assignment and parking passes. You will sign up for soccer before it's too late." Kurt pointed at the far booth near the back corner where a tall boy, and two others slightly shorter, sat; bored. "Oh and Quinn, don't forget lower register voice and no swaying in your walk, you're a boy now." He patted her shoulder, winked then turned disappearing into the crowd.
She cleared her throat. Right, here we go, Quinn walked with confidence in every stride, unbeknownst to the stray glances her way. "Hey!" Quinn interjected with a little bit of oomph, gaining the attention of the three behind the booth. "I'm here to sign up for the team." She threw in her best smile for added emphasis.
One of the boys, who looked a bit on the constipated side, answered her first. "Yea sure man, sign here. You sure you play?" He gave Quinn a brief once over.
"Yea, you look like a pretty boy," spat the darker skinned male with a mohawk.
The last of the three, who'd been staring at her with interest, spoke with a bit of a western accent. "You a bit short there ain't ya mate?"
Quinn looked at the blonde boy with the accent noticing him using the wrong words and realizing his mouth was really huge, almost like a fish. Wow, Santana would really have a field day with these guys. She nodded. "Yes, I love the game. Honestly I was the best center forward at my last school." She sniffed in confidence seeing the disbelief in the taller boy's face, or could that be disgust?
"We'll see how you do on the field, tryouts are on Thursday at eight o'clock," he grumbled, handing her the agreements to sign, "Oh, don't be late, the coach does not accept tardies." He smirked.
Quinn had to resist the urge to roll her eyes. "Sure," she signed the documents, took the invitation and left to find Kurt. What a bunch of idiots, or what San would say, dickheads. Seriously that's who I'll be playing with wow this school is already not very interesting.
Focused on trying to spot Kurt in the crowds, Quinn bumped into a small body. The two lost their balance temporarily before Quinn regained her footing, and without much thought, she reached out to the person, loosely wrapping her arm around their waist to steady them. She stared at the crown to their head for a second until her eyes met chocolate brown eyes.
Quinn's heart jumped to her throat.
"Ar-are you o-ok?" Quinn stuttered out. "I'm r-really sorry, I d-didn't look where I was go-going," For some reason, she couldn't take her eyes off the most beautiful brown eyes she'd ever seen.
"It's quite alright. I apologize." The smaller girl replied with a shy smile. "Are you alright?"
Quinn swallowed her heart back down, releasing the girl. "Oh yeah I'm ok, but no problem. I'm just glad neither of us ended up on the floor." She chuckled, causing the smaller girl's smile to widen.
The girl tucked a strand of her brunette locks behind her ear. "You must be new. I do not think I've seen you around?" She tilted her head in curiosity.
A blush appeared on Quinn's cheeks. "Uh, yeah just got transferred this year, yeah." She couldn't shake off the odd feeling, almost like a warm electric pulse traveling through her body. Quinn cleared her throat softly, it feels like she's looking into my soul with those eyes. "Well I'm glad you're, uh, alright, ahem," she hiked her thumb back awkwardly, "I, heh, I have to find my friend so we can, um, get settled."
"Oh, I understand. I won't want to hold you here any longer than necessary. Well, I do hope you enjoy the rest of your day. I'm certain we will meet again," the girl's smile spread across her face as she placed her hands together behind her back with a slight tilt of her head, "Till next time, then." With a quick spin on her heels the girl disappeared into the masses.
Be still my heart, this has never happened before I wonder if I'm getting sick, she felt her forehead. Nothing different. Wait, she's the one from the mall! Quinn turned her head from side to side looking for the girl. Wonder what her name is.
"QUINN!" Kurt's voice appeared right behind her, causing her to pivot around. "Finally! Took a solid minute to get your attention!" he humphed, "Anyways, so I have our dorm room number, keys, and parking passes. Let's get these done then we can start unloading." He smiled, pulling her along by her arm intertwining his.
I think I need to ask Kurt about the clicks at this school. Quinn thought while they passed multiple groups glancing at them. Creepy, are they looking at me or Kurt? Shit do they know I'm a girl! She sucked a breath causing Kurt to look at her in question. She smiled hesitantly with a chuckle.
After setting up their parking permits on their cars they grabbed most of their bags to bring to the dorm. Standing in front of their room Kurt inserted the key.
"Welcome to our home away from home," he smiled, letting her walk in first, "Not too bad. Larger than last year's, by far." He looked around excitedly, thoughts of what he wanted to decorate running a mile a minute.
On the base level were two empty desks on either side of the entrance door, a door to the left upon entering—the ensuite bathroom he heard about—and bifold doors to the walk-in closet. Across the closet was a bed, nightstand and a dresser cozied up against the wall. Further across, and up against the wall, was a set of spiral stairs that ascended to the open loft that was identical to the bed set up below, only the upper floor had a ceiling window.
"Simple," Quinn commented, heading straight to the stairs with her bags, "I'll take the top floor, if that's alright with you." Not waiting for a response, Quinn arrived at the top and emptied her bags into the dresser located to the right of the bed.
"Sure, sure. I don't mind being on the ground level with the closet!" Kurt raved, setting up his dresser as well against the wall to the right of the bed under the stairs. "At least we don't have to split a desk. We each get one; perfect." Kurt claimed the left desk, pulling out his laptop. "Darn, I have to get the rest of my boxes. Lucky you don't have much." He sighed, leaving a nodding Quinn who came back down from the loft to the right side of the room.
She pulled out her laptop as well, setting her desk with a few pictures of her best friends. Pretty nice dorms, at least I can be away from the mother of doom. Quinn chuckled to herself, climbing back up as she flopped onto her bed. I really don't have much to do. She scanned her minimal baggage. All she had were her clothes—new of course—laptop, pictures, and soccer gear. Quinn shrugged, a rush of excitement washing over her about the new scenery. I certainly hope this year goes pretty smoothly and I really can't wait to prove to all of them how wrong they truly are. She closed her eyes, wanting a brief nap till Kurt came back so they could grab some dinner.
