At least I don't have to worry about getting reaped again. Now I just have to watch as two kids I try to save will end up dead. This time last year, I didn't think I'd ever come home. The morning of the reapings, I wake up extra early, sneaking out of the house while my dad and brother are still asleep. I pick some flowers from the front of my house and walk over to the local cemetery, sitting down right next to Caleb's grave. Caleb. The first love of my life. The one who saved me last year in the games. Without him, I wouldn't have won. I lay the flowers on top and begin to talk.

"Hi Caleb. God I miss you like crazy. That might sound weird, considering I am dating someone new, but my love for you won't ever go away, no matter what. You made me realize what love is, and I can't forget that. You saved me."

I then update him on my life and his family: his older sister recently had a baby girl named Callie, his younger sister just turned 16, and his mom has never stopped supporting me and making sure I know she's not angry at what happened. Cedar, my older brother is training to become a veterinarian, and nothing has changed with my dad. I talk briefly about Marcus and how he respects that Caleb will be part of my life. I kiss his tombstone and walk away, seeing my dad waiting for me right outside the gates. He hands me a sweater and wraps me in a hug.

"I just had a feeling you'd be here. I would ask if you want to go spend some time in the woods together, but I don't think we have time. Link is waiting and barking orders at your brother." At the house, Link and the team spend over an hour getting me ready for the reaping. Picking out my outfit, doing my makeup, waxing my face, leaving red splotches everywhere. Admittedly, I look pretty good when they finish. I'm wearing tight green pants, a sleeveless black top and a gray jacket, along with black pumps. My hair is all poofy and curly now, nothing like my usual braids. When the team finishes with me, I hear someone whistle right by the door.

Marcus, my boyfriend, stands there holding flowers for me. I walk over to kiss him and he lifts me up in the air. When he puts me back down, we take each other's hands and walk to the reaping together, separating when we arrive. Thank god he just turned 19 and his name won't be in the bowl anymore.

I head to the stage along with the other victors, Scarla and Rydell. Suddenly, I look out at the crowd and feel woozy. Caleb's younger sister Mira is staring right at me with a smile on her face. I see my classmates, friends. Little kids. I can't watch as one of them is called to die. Do they think that just because I won they have a shot, too? Everything starts spinning around me, but no one seems to notice. As I tremble, someone helps me up. I spin around and find Marcus right by my side.

"I've got you," he whispers as he squeezes my hand. People in the crowd swoon. I assume Link will cause a stir and kick Marcus off the stage, but he doesn't. And the reaping begins.

Here we go again.
