The gym was energetic, filled with chatter and music as Anya was chatting with Cynthia and Robert, who also managed to come as adult guests.
Cynthia wore a beautiful red dress, and her usual Clara Bow like hairstyle was done in a nice perm but she still resembled Anya...
"So, did you vote for prom king and queen, or are you sittin out?" Cynthia asked her friend while sipping on some punch, waiting for an answer.
"I did. I voted for Anne and Thomas. I hope they win but I don't mind other people getting the chance to shine." Anya responded with a smile while Cynthia nodded understandably.
"I see, and I hope your friends win, anywho, what's been on your mind? Talk to me, you've been quiet lately, and I wanna be here for you, ya know." Cynthia responded, gently placing her hand on her friend's shoulder, hoping to hear whatever Anya had to say.
Soon after, Anya thought about the incident with Neville; however, she quickly backed it out of her mind and brought up another topic.
"Just been worried about my future. I'm still lost in knowing what to do, and it's kinda getting to me." Anya responded, staring down at the table as she felt Cynthia's hand gently touching her hand.
"Girl, it's okay to feel that way. Trust me, I was in your place when I was eighteen or almost turnin that age. I was famous but pretty lost. In short, just follow your heart and what YOU truly desire, Anya." Cynthia advised Anya in a comforting voice while these words made Anya smile.
After hearing those words, Anya turned up to face her friend, feeling a bit better despite the issue not being what initially made her feel down.
"Thank you. I'll keep your word in mind." Anya thanked Cynthia, getting up from her seat while doing so.
"Anywho, enough feeling sappy! Let's take a walk or something, I hear that the track and field are also having events so let's get some fresh air." Anya spoke to her friend joyly Cynthia felt the same way.
"That's the spirit girl! Gettin fresh air always takes my mind away from things when it gets overwhelming." Cynthia responded to her friend while she, her husband, and Anya stood up and began walking toward the exit.
Neville and his friends saw this action and they decided to comment on the matter, and to make things worse, they were drinking.
"Oh crap, it's that Cynthia chick. I can't stand her. She always hangs around with my aunt." Neville spoke to his friend Johnny with clear annoyance in his voice while the boy nodded.
"I agree, and let's follow them. I could go for a nice southern babe, even if she looks like Anya.." Johnny responded in a rather slimy voice while his other friend nodded with a smile.
Of course, the idea of having Anya as his prom date while Johnny gets Cynthia made him smirk. "Let's follow them.." Neville spoke once more, taking a sip of punch that was spiked with liquor before heading out the door alongside his friends.
*Track and Field*
Anya, Cynthia, and Robert arrived at the field, and the area was much calmer with a few people chatting and doing other things.
"Wow, this is perfect. Brings me back to when I was around your age in high school and me and Robert were in the bleachers and I.." Cynthia complimented in an upbeat voice before quickly covering her mouth, blushing madly, realizing what she was going to say.
"O-Oh, yeah. You're still a minor so I can't be runnin my mouth all like that, let's just say we've gotten pretty close." Cynthia spoke once more in a flustered tone, laughing to herself while Anya found herself to be laughing as well.
During this, Robert joined in as well, knowing what his wife was going to say.
"That's Cynthia for you," Robert chimed into the conversation, adding more humor to the situation.
After the laugh, the trio walked toward the bleachers and they managed to sit on them, watching the beautiful stars together.
After sitting down, Anya felt happy as she turned around to express her feelings to Cynthia and Robert.
"I've been having a rough week, but hanging out with my friends such as you two made me feel better, thank you.." Anya thanked Cynthia and Robert in a warm tone of voice and this made the couple smile at her.
"Awww, you're gonna make a woman cry. You know how I get but I'm glad to make your night better. It's what friends do." Cynthia responded, gently patting Anya on the back while Robert nodded in agreement.
"I can say the same here, and I know we've met in a rather weird way, but you're a good kid, and I respect you greatly." Robert chimed into the conversation while these words made Anya smile.
For a moment, Anya's mouth opened, wanting to open up about her encounter with Neville; however, she stopped at the last second, switching the topic.
"I'll be back. I have to use the restroom." Anya spoke to her friends while getting up from the bleachers and walking down to the ground.
During this, Cynthia got up to follow her friend so she could look out for her.
"Let me go with you. You never know if any creeps are goin to snatch you up, and I want to make sure that you're safe as well." Cynthia advised her friend, gently patting her on the back while this gesture made Anya feel more at ease.
"Thank you. I need the company." Anya thanked Cynthia in a calm voice as she and her friend proceeded to walk to the restrooms.
Soon after, Anya and Cynthia continued to walk across the school until finally stopping at the restroom.
"If anyone is being a creep, kick them in the balls and if you're feelin merciless, you grab them by the balls until it hurts, okay?" Cynthia advised her friend while giving her a smile and a thumbs up.
This of course made Anya chuckle lightly before nodding.
"Don't worry, I'll make them regret touching me." Anya responded in a lighthearted voice before entering the restroom.
After Anya entered the restroom, Cynthia remained by the door, waiting for her friend as she suddenly heard a group of voices laughing rather obnoxiously.
"Probably some drunks, but I can't blame them, I also get annoyin when I'm drunk." Cynthia thought to herself while she continued to wait for her friend.
The sound of the laughter grew close as it was none other than Neville and Johnny.
"Well look what we got here. It's Anya's twin.." Neville spoke in a drunken voice, smirking while Johnny chuckled at the sight.
Of course, Cynthia's defenses quickly heightened as she put her fists up, ready to attack.
"You drunk boys better stay away from me. Anya ain't here right now, so it's best to get out of here or else. I may have a pretty face but I can still fight." Cynthia warned Neville and his friend, covering for her friend as she was ready to fend them off.
Of course, this didn't work as Johnny walked closer to Cynthia.
"You're a tough one. I like it when they fight back.." Johnny responded while attempting to touch Cynthia; however, she quickly flipped him over, surprising him and Neville.
After this, Cynthia had a stern expression, glaring at the boy.
"You best leave me the hell alone. I don't have time for foolish boys like yourselves. Scram!" Cynthia advised the boys while looking down at them as she saw Neville help his friend.
Of course, Johnny didn't take this well as he angrily glared at her.
"Y-You're crazy. All of that fame and money is getting to your head! I just wanted some fun…" Johnny responded, to Cynthia feeling surprised yet upset at the assault, getting close to Cynthia's face.
Of course, this didn't faze Cynthia as she kept her cool.
"Fun? You mean sexual assault? You best get out of my face or else." Cynthia spoke back to Johnny, warning him of the consequences while Johnny and Neville stood in annoyance.
"Listen, you little redneck. You don't get to tell us what to do. I hope someone teaches you a lesson one day. Shut that mouth of yours" Neville spat at Cynthia in a threatening voice, storming away while Johnny looked at her before following him.
Eventually, the two boys walked away, bringing relief to Cynthia.
"Typical boys. Always threatenin women when they don't get their way, how sad." Cynthia spoke to herself in a relieved voice as she heard the door open, and it was Anya.
"Hey, thank you. I-I heard everything and I-I'm glad he didn't come into the bathroom.." Anya thanked her friend while Cynthia smiled back.
"No worries. I'm here for you and if that Neville creep even decided he wanted to try that, you best believe I'll break his arm." Cynthia responded in a warm voice while Anya chuckled at this.
"He deserves it. I'm glad Judith changed her ways at the least. Just less problems for us." Anya spoke to her friend as she began walking with her.
"I agree. Me and she had a bad history together but I'm glad that things are improvin, but anywho, let's head back to Robert." Cynthia spoke to her friend once more while Anya nodded in agreement.
And thus, Anya and Cynthia continued to enjoy their night together, of course, this night wasn't over yet.
