Malea VI U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701

(2266)

Captain's log Stardate 1327.05. The Enterprise is on patrol of a little mapped system on the edge of the Romulan Neutral Zone when we picked up what appears to be wreckage of a Starfleet Shuttle. According to First Officer Spock it appears to have crash landed between two and five years ago. It's doubtful that anyone survived, but we are investigating anyway to make sure. Mister Spock has also detected some unusual warp trail and is also investing this phenomenon.

Captain James T. Kirk sat in his chair while watching the planet below on the viewscreen. "Any life signs?" he asked as he continued watching. Spock left his station, "None that I can detect captain." Kirk nodded to himself, "Any reason we shouldn't beam down Mister Spock?"

Spock arched his eyebrow in a way that Kirk knew the Vulcan was suppressing frustration, "None that I can detect, but that does not mean that it is safe. Logic would dictate…"

"Then we're going down. Uhura, have Doctor McCoy meet us in the transporter room." He looked at his chief engineer who was manning the engineering station on the bridge, "Mister Scott. The bridge is yours."

"Aye Captain," the Scotsman said as he got up and made his way to the center seat.

Kirk motioned towards the turbolift, "Shall we Mister Spock?"

"You are the captain," Spock answered as he followed kirk to the lift.

"Transporter Room," Kirk said grabbing the control handle and looking at his first officer, "Why do I get the feeling that you're not telling me something Spock."

Again Spock raised his eyebrow, "I will never understand humans speaking out on simple feelings. However; you are correct, there is something I'm not telling you. Also I cannot tell you. It is a classified manner."

Kirk was taken slightly aback, "What about this backward planet could be classified?"

He thought he saw a hint, just a hint of a smirk curl the edge of his stoic first officer's lip, "If I told you that Jim it wouldn't be classified."

The lift doors opened with their customary swoosh and the pair stepped out into the corridor. Upon entering the transporter room they saw McCoy pacing, "Well it's about damn time. You summon me from sickbay and then make me wait."

"Really Doctor," Spock said with a deadpan inflection to his voice, "You should not be so perturbed by having to wait but a minute or two."

"I'll perturb you, you green blooded son of a…"

"Alright Doctor, "Kirk said. He was enjoying their banter, but there were things to do, "We get your point." He gestured at the pad, "If you please."

Once the trio was on the pad, Kirk gave the order to Chief Kyle and they vanished from the ship in a shower of golden sparkles.

A moment later they appeared next to the remains of a Starfleet shuttle. It had obvious fire damage and the front was smashed in; probably from hitting the cracked rock outcropping that it rested against. Spock immediately opened the flap on his tricorder and started scanning.

As he ran the device over the wreckage Spock read out what he found, "No a signs of life apparent, scorch marks consistent with disruptor weapons, and the damage to the impulse engines is consistent with a blow out of the inducer coils. Captain this shuttle was shot down."

Kirk bent down and retrieved a piece of debris that was covered in dust from the desert like area. With a sweep of his hand she brushed off the dust and found letters on the chuck of metal, "Sunnydale," he said.

Spock immediately closed his tricorder, "Captain, I recommend we return to the ship and inform the proper authorities."

Kirk did a double take. It wasn't like Spock to give up on an investigation like this, "What going on Spock?" he asked.

"All I can say captain is that we are not authorized to conduct any salvage or investigations here. This falls under I.W.C. jurisdiction."

"What in the hell is the I.W.C." McCoy asked, "I've never heard of it."

"It's a myth Bones, "Kirk said, "A mysterious group that fights demons and monsters. Really Spock? I wouldn't have thought you to buy into such superstitious rumors."

"In order to answer that captain I would have to inform you of things that I am not cleared to inform you of."

"Right..." Kirk deadpanned before a sound caught his attention, "Spock you said there were no life forms on this planet."

"No captain," Spock Corrected, "I said there were none that I can detect."

"So, what was that?" Kirk asked as four people appeared from what appeared to be nowhere. They were different races, but all had yellow eyes and protruding brow ridges.

"You die trespassers!" a green man shouted.

"WAIT!" a woman with red skin and purple hair shouted, "You know the rules. They're to be brought for interrogation first."

Spock raised a brow ridge. It had been some time since he had seen a vampire.

Lieutenant Nyota Uhura watched her console as the signal from the landing party went offline. She grumbled to herself a bit. Ever since its refit the Enterprise had the occasional glitch. When resetting her station did not resolve the issue, she decided that it must be genuine. "Commander Scott," she said grabbing the engineer's attention, "I've lost the landing party's signal."

Commander Montgomery Scott got up from the captain's chair and made his way over to the communications station. "What in the hell? Ensign Chekov, do ye have them on scanners?"

The fresh faced ensign pushed a few commands on his console that he shared with the helm, "Negative sir. It's like they simply wansished."

Scotty scowled, "I don't like this. Keep trying to locate them and as soon as ye do, beam them up."

Kirk stumbled as a rock rolled under his boot. Their captors stripped them of their tricorders, communicators, and phasers before binding the trio together and marching them through the desert. Slowly a wall that appeared to be made of rubble came into view as they crested a sand dune. He was able to make out large guns mounted along the wall. As they approached the wall they turned towards a gate where tied to a weather beaten cross was the rotted corpse. It would have been unidentifiable if it weren't for the scraps of gold cloth and a few clumps of sun damaged long blonde hair fluttering in the breeze. Hanging around the nest on a piece of rope was a sign that said, "SLAYERS BEWARE."

"What's a slayer?" he asked to himself out load as they passed the corpse. He noticed Spock studying it intently as they walked by. "What is it Spock?" He was shoved by one of his captors and Spock spoke in a low voice, "They have a dead slayer. This does not bode well for us captain."

"So, what the hell is a damned slayer Spock?" Bones asked irritation evident in his.

Spock glanced around at his companions, "Now is not the time Doctor."

In an attempt to figure out what happened to the landing party Scotty had beamed up a piece of the crashed shuttle for analysis. He was doing cursory scans while he waited for Doctor M'Benga to come and check it for any residual DNA. After a few moments the doors slid open and Dr. M'Benga entered the transporter room with his tricorder.

He scanned the piece of debris but had no luck. He closed his tricorder and looked at the engineer, "I can find no traced of DNA on this. Do we know what ship it came from?"

Scotty stepped over to a console and punched up what he was able to find. "Aye, records are sparse, but it appears to come from the U.S.S. Serenity. No other information is available on the ship though without I.W.C. clearance whatever that is.

M'Benga felt his eyebrows hit his hairline, "The Serenity?"

"Aye," Scotty answered, "Have ye heard of it?"

"I may have," M'Benga answered trying to skirt around divulging too much information. "I'll take the piece to sickbay to see if I can pull anything off of the atomic level."

Scotty nodded, "Tell me if ye find anything."

Once he arrived in Sickbay he walked over to the table and called over the head nurse. "Yes Doctor," Christine Chapel said as she walked over.

He looked at one of his oldest friends, "We have a problem. Our landing party has gone missing on a planet where we just happened to locate a crashed shuttle from the Serenity."

The look of shock was evident on her face, "We need to talk to Admiral Rosenberg."

Milea VI

Kirk watched the steel barred door shut as the group of aliens and creatures like he had never seen howled about which parts they were going to eat first. "We are Starfleet officers. It is a serious offence to imprison us like this."

The crowd erupted into an uproar of laughter until a loud crack was heard echoing throughout the room, "THAT'S ENOUGH!" a female voice shouted and the crowd began to split to allow someone through. The group watched as murmurs of, "Fatale," began going around the room. After only a moment or two the last of the crowd parted and the group saw the woman who shouted. She was short, but in very high black heeled boots. She was wearing a short black leather skirt and a black corset. Her long hair was jet black as was the makeup around her eyes and lipstick. She had ridges around her eye sockets and needle like spikes erupting from the pale skin of her bare shoulders.

"Fascinating," Spock said as he raised his eyebrow at the woman who for a moment appeared to recognize him from the subtle twitch in her left eye.

In that moment all hell broke loose in the woman's mind and the only thing Buffy Summers could think was, "Oh shit."
