"And it is a glorious day here in Manhattan as the PX Duel Tournament are coming to a close. 20 young inspiring duelists have competed these last few days but only two remain. Who will win this year's PX championship and the honor of dueling the world famous Yugi Moto."
The crowd shriek at the mention of the famous duelist. Every duelist known to man wants a chance to duel with Yugi, or at the very least meet him.
"Now, it's time to introduce this years' final contestants—" Suddenly, the announcer froze on screen. Everyone sat comfortably in the media room inside the castle. They were waiting on Broadway and Angela to return from the kitchen. But Brooklyn and Lexington or Lex for short, began to lose their patience.
"Broadway, Angela hurry up!" Lex shouted.
"Yeah or we'll see it without you." Brooklyn said.
"We're coming!" Broadway yelled from the kitchen.
"Relax guys." Elisa said, "The duel isn't going anywhere."
"We know but we're excited to see the finals." Lex said.
"I just hope this recording is better than the last one." Brooklyn said. Unfortunately, the last time their recorded the duel match it didn't go so well. Granted, they were living at the clock tower and the VCR at the time was really old.
"Don't worry lad, Xanatos said that this is the best recording system money can buy." Hudson replied. Suddenly, they heard loud footsteps coming their way.
"We're here, We're here!" Broadway and Angela huffed and buffed, catching their breath.
"Finally!" The boys shouted.
Matt got up from his seat, "Here, let me help you with those."
"Thanks, Matt." Angela said as she, Matt and Broadway pass the snacks around.
"Alright, now that we have the snacks let's watch the duel." Lex rewind a bit and then press play.
"Now, it's time to introduce this years' final contestants." The crowd roared as the first of the two finalists made his way to the arena.
"First, from Colorado Springs, Colorado his dragon deck can make any his opponent shake in their boots. He's the Dragon king, the one and only Shane Wilson!" Suddenly, a young man in his middle 20's appear on screen. He smiled and wave at the crowd.
"Oh yeah, the Dragon King is in the building!" Lex excitedly shouted, seeing one of his favorite duelist in the finales.
"The Dragon King?" Goliath questioned.
"He got the name because he specializes in Dragon cards." Brooklyn replied.
"Yup, he's deck is filled with the most powerful dragons in all of Duel Monster." Broadway added.
"Except he doesn't have the most powerful dragon card of all time." Matt said.
"Which is?" Hudson ask.
"The Blue-Eyes White Dragon." The trio said.
Angela raised her eyebrow when she heard the name. "The Blue-Eyes what now?"
"The Blue-Eyes White Dragon." Matt answers, "It's a rare dragon card. The creator of Duel Monster, Maximillion Pegasus only created four in existence, making it one the rarest card out there."
"If it's so rare, I don't blame the guy for not having it. Finding it would be nearly impossible." Elisa said.
"That's because someone alright has all three." Brooklyn said.
"Three?"
"Yeah, someone alright has those cards in their possession, Seto Kaiba." Lex said.
"Seto Kaiba? Isn't he the one who created that Duel Disk System?" Angela said. She remembers how the trio were talking about Seto Kaiba. He one of the greatest duelists in the world but also the inventor of the portable duel disk system. So, duelists can duel each other anywhere at any time.
"That's right." Broadway sigh, "Boy, I wish we had one of those."
"Yeah, it would make our duel matches more fun." Matt and the boys loved dueling each other. But since none of them had a duel disk system the only way they duel is by using the duel mat. It wasn't as exciting, but they still had fun.
"They're too expensive. "Brooklyn said, "Not to mention it would be hard to share just one between the three of us." Brooklyn added.
"I've been putting some cash on the side." Matt said, "Hopefully, I'll be able to get at least two to share, but it's going to be awhile."
Elisa smiles inward as she looks at the gifts behind her, 'Maybe sooner than you think.' The sound of the crowd roaring through the tv caught everyone's attention.
"And our next opponent, this duelist has been dominating the circuit for the past three years and shows no signs of slowing down. Give it up for the mysterious duelist, Akari!" Suddenly, the duelist enters the arena, wearing a dark blue hooded cloak. They were covered from head to toe, except for their brown eyes. The duelist wave to the crowd as they made their way to the middle of the arena.
"Oh man, things are about to get real, folks." Brooklyn said excited to see the badass duelist duel.
"How come this lad is covered up?" Hudson wonder.
"No one knows." Matt said, "It could be a number of things. Mostly, to protect their identity. Not many people enjoy fame. Some want to keep their life private."
"I see."
"Plus, he's one of the top duelist here in America." Broadway added.
"What makes you think the duelist is a he?" Goliath ask. Broadway shrugged his shoulders as he took a bit out of his sandwich.
"I think it's a guy." Brooklyn chimes in, "I mean let's face it, girls can't play duel monsters." Br
"Excuse me!" Elisa and Angela look at Brooklyn with glaring eyes. Brooklyn quickly regretted what he said. Lex tried to help him out.
"I think what Brooklyn meant was that there isn't a lot of girls, who could compete in top duel competition like the boys." Thee glaring eyes moved from Brooklyn to Lex. Lex too regretted what he said.
Matt quickly stepped in, "There are girls who are capable of dueling and competing with top male competitors."
"Like who?" Angela asked.
"Well, there's Rebecca Hawkins." He answers, "She won the intercontinental championship, and she was 12 at the time."
"Wow."
"And there's Mai Valentine. She won a lot of competition. She even place 3rd in Duelist Kingdom and 5Th in the Battle City Finals."
"Cool." Angela eyes gleam when she heard about the female duelists. For you see, Angela was learning how to play duel monster in secret. The only person who knows about it was Elisa.
Elisa leans in, "Those boys won't know what hit them when you decide to duel them."
"You know it. I've been practicing almost every night. I think I'm almost ready to duel the guys soon."
Elisa smiles at the young gargoyle. Angela told her, she wanted to learn how to play Elisa stepped in to help. Mostly secretly buying her cards.
"I'm glad to hear." Elisa whispers. She reaches inside her pocket and takes out a small gift.
"Here, this is for you. It's booster cards. They will give you the edge you need when you're ready to duel the boys."
"They're the best ones out right now." She added, "At least that's what the guy at the store told me."
Angela smiles widely as she took the gift, "Oh, Elisa thank you. You didn't have to do that."
Elisa shook her head, "I wanted too. Besides, I want to see you kick those guys butts and show them that girls can duel just as well as they can" Angela couldn't agree more.
"Guys, it's starting." Lex said. Everyone turns their attention back to the big screen.
Both opponents met in the middle of the arena. After shaking hands out of respect, the announcer spoke.
"Finalists shuffle your opponent's deck."
The two duelists took each other decks and shuffled them. A few seconds later they exchange back.
"Alright, finalist return back to your corners." The announcer said.
"I wish you the best of luck." Shane said.
"Same to you. Good Luck." The mysterious duelist had a special mask designed to disguise their voice. The duelists made their way to their corners.
"Duelist are you ready?!" The announcer shouted.
"Ready!" They shouted.
"Audience are you ready?!" The crowd roar in excitement. The trio and Matt shouted with excitement.
"Let's duel!"
