Toothless didn't want to steal at all, he didn't want to mess with humans and no dragon wanted to either, but the response of the humans since his appearance was hostile and they had no choice but to act the same, however, despite the fact that all the dragons in the nest attacked towns and stole food, he decided not to do it, he would only watch over the safety of the nest, saving all his possible companions, only that his effort was not enough to save the lives of many who were captured and killed, which caused him to become cold and distant with the other dragons, Toothless was aware that the situation could not continue like this and then he resorted to what could be his last resort.

The human boy came back, he found him where he was hiding, he thought he would never see him again, but apparently he came back and also the next day, and the next, and the next, during those days Toothless lived one of the greatest experiences of his life, not only because the human boy who over the days learned his name was Hiccup gave him back the ability to fly, but he also gave him a name (something bad in his opinion) and treated him as an equal, that was when Toothless understood that the gods did not only take away a part of him, they gave him something that he needed for a long time: A friend.

Toothless after launching his pleas tried everything possible to make sure that Hiccup was still alive, in the process he discovered certain things, to start with he lost his left leg up to the lower part of the knee, then his burned clothes left some scars on his body, also that after a time that Toothless thought that he would not survive Hiccup managed to stabilize a little, now he lit a fire to keep him warm and look for a dragon to come and help him and in the worst case the humans.

A human was approaching, he was approaching silently, Toothless found a way to make him not notice him, so he managed to surprise the human by hitting him with his tail, he fell to the ground and hit his head against the other to knock him out and it worked.
He silently moved away where two others were, he distracted one with a rock and it worked better when he caught the attention of the two, that was when he threw himself on top of them and taking advantage of the fact that they were on the ground he hit them with his tail to stun them, then he left, he found another a little further away near the water, he watched attentively what he was doing, he decided to confuse him to knock him down and throw him into the water... he laughed a little when he saw him try to get out.

The fight reached a point where he couldn't stand it anymore and he roared so loud that the other draconians heard it.
