Seeing the sun come up I take a deep breath and then head inside "You're up early" Heidi says.
"Yeah been up a while" I mumble making sure the extra coffee pot is on, like clockwork I hear Lily hit the floor groaning like every morning.
"Why does she do that every morning?"
"She is difficult to wake up she slept threw a huge fight when we were living in Bellas house, in the middle of the living room so we learned after a few times shoving her out of bed to the floor is a guarantee to wake her, since Emily is with her she took over waking her".
I chuckle seeing Lily stumble in making her coffee without opening her eyes.
"How's your Aunts Beca?" Lily mumbles.
"Good in some old-fashioned village in Romania, Aunt Rose got lost again they saw people staking a dead body to stop them from coming back and feeding" I say shrugging.
"Hey do any of you know anything about snakes with human upper bodies?"
"They have a few names but Lamias is the one used now, what do you want to know?"
"Anything, my Aunt told me when I was a baby they found a large snake skin leading out my window, and at the end, it had a human form".
"Do you know anything more than that?"
"She said it was huge not much else, um hold on".
I blush calling her again putting it on speaker.
"Beca-bear are you calling to tell me we need to kick that German's ass now?"
"Um no I wanted to know more about the snake skin".
"Why?"
"I'm bored and started reading about supernatural creatures".
"Learn to lie better, what do you want to kn- ROSE THAT IS NOT A ROAD" I hear a loud thump and a groan "damn it, do not hit the potholes".
"Are you guys okay?"
"Yes even if Rose seems to be having an affair with potholes in the road, she keeps hitting them" she says as I hear Rose cackling happily.
"Now what do you want to know?"
"Size? Did you see what left it? Anything you can remember".
"Right the human part was five foot eleven and the snake part was at least ten feet long and was wide enough it touched the sides of the window, we saw a figure in the distance that gave us an idea of where what starts or ends, looked human with patches of black on her front but back down was covered, very beautiful bright red hair that's all I know, shit cops gotta go Beca-bear we love you".
I snort when she hangs up before I can say anything "Why would your Aunts want to know if they are to kick my daughter's ass?"
"They are protective and I called them for advice earlier".
"They sound interesting" she says unsure "Okay from what she explained it sounds like it was one of the children of Lilith they are said to steal babies, are considered the most beautiful Lamias, the fact she left you could mean a few things, most common is she formed a bond with you if it was a lovers bond you would have been taken the next night, my guess is something like a mother, she would protect you and no matter where you go, she would follow and watch from a distance only coming out to you when she believed you ready to
meet her".
"So she stalks me?"
"In a way yes, but not in a creepy way it's like how a parent or guardian watches their kid and
keeps track of them, even when they grow up they still try to always know where they are, who they are with like your aunts you're an adult but you still keep them updated on that stuff".
I nod seeing her frown "They are protective of their bonds more so with bond children, if they get with someone or have a lovers bond with another creature, they become extremely protective and could even steal the bond child believing they are protecting them" she sighs
looking at me "You have to go out and call her to you, make sure she understands you are not being forced, I'd recommend alone but close to the property so we can help you if needed".
I huff looking at her "When and how do I do that?"
She huffs back before handing me a large platter full of finger food and two bottles of water "Now, take the food and drinks out to share, find a reason to need advice pick a shaded area".
I nod going back out after making sure I have my phone, I move just off the property sitting under a tree "Um I brought food and drinks could you join me, I have questions?" I ask unsure.
Hearing nothing I sigh tilting my head back "I'm confused please I don't know what to do?" Hearing slight shuffling I rub my face "You're supposed to be a type of guardian like a parent to me, I could use a mom right now" I add.
I flinch when I feel scales brush against me "You've never asked for me before" I hear a smokey voice with a slight hiss say.
"I didn't know about you even if I did I wouldn't know how to find you, what's your name?" I mumble opening my eyes and see her towering over me, looking at her I tilt my head seeing her body fully exposed with a leather bra-like shirt over her chest to cover her, patches of scales randomly placed on her front and bright red hair that reminds me of batman's Poison Ivy, her eyes a bright green with her pupils being slits.
Her hand comes up stroking my face "You grew up beautiful, my name is Nix".
I give a small smile looking away "Thanks um you're not gonna take me away right?"
She hisses yanking her hand back "You call us to you, the day I first heard you cry I was called to you, you have run with others from our world and been turned".
I nod picking up one of the water openings and holding it out to her after taking a sip, she grabs it curling up and looking at me "I do not care for the wolf most of all being around you".
"I love her".
"She refuses to touch you" she hisses.
"I think she's scared too" I mumble taking a cheese cube and scooting the tray closer to her.
"Why did you call me here really?"
"I learned about you this morning when my Aunt told me about you, I asked Heidi if she knew anything my Aunt gave us more information and she told me what she knew".
"What did she say? That we are evil? should be killed on sight?" She hisses sounding angry.
"No, she said you are a child of Lilith, can be dangerous, are said to steal children, and if you form bonds are extremely protective".
"We do not steal children without reason, we take children who are supernatural and leave them with supernatural parents that can not have young, to protect them and our world".
"Why did you come to me as a baby what about me called to you?"
"Your aura was strange it felt off when I examined it, it was like a blank book it would call in any supernaturals".
"Why?"
"It means you are meant for our world but had not become supernatural, you would be easiest
to change. I guarded you from those who wanted to change you till Lily, she wanted to change you but not for the claim of changing you, she wanted a family someone she knew would accept all of her. You had a Dhampir take a protective role for you and a Cambion who is obviously to her nature but unknowingly kept others away from you, till that wolf." she says finishing with an angry hiss.
"What is a Cambion?"
"A half demon half human, most common is an Incubus or succubus with a human".
"Why do you not like Mathilda so much?"
"You are my baby, she is not worthy of my baby".
"Maybe I believe she is, I did accept her as my mate".
She hisses raising "She is not worthy".
"Why? How can you say that if you do not know her?"
"She insulted you, called you a troll, a filthy, smelly, ugly, brutish creature, how dare she compare you to them" she hisses.
"She didn't mean it, she was trying to intimidate me when I was with The Bellas and she apologized".
"Then why does she refuse to touch you?" She asks sounding genuinely confused I feel a tear roll down my cheek shaking my head "She loves me, she's just nervous".
She reaches out touching my face "I do not see this".
She suddenly screams out sounding angry while swinging around, and I see Mathilda snarling at her ready to pounce again, I move between them and wrap my arms around Mathilda "Stop, don't attack" I say speaking to both but look at Mathilda.
'She upset you, Maus'.
I shake my head "No just stop".
She shifts coving her body with her hands "She upsets you, meine Maus, that's not okay".
"More names, now a mouse you continue to insult her" Nix snarls raising.
"Puppy she didn't I'm just emotional right now" I say quickly turning to look at Nix "It's not an insult it's a cute pet name".
"How is that a cute pet name she calls you outside your name?" she snarls.
"She's cute and tiny like a mouse," Mathilda says.
"You think mice are cute?"
"Yes she has a pet mouse that is blonde, she named it Kommissar my stage name when I sang with DSM".
Nix looks confused at us "Why call her a troll? That was an insult".
"That was competition talk, trying to intimidate her and get in her head, I never meant that I told her this".
"Why do this, it makes no sense?"
"It's normal for us, we live in the human world with humans not hidden in the supernatural we pick up human habits".
I watch as she slithers back and forth like she pacing "Nix you formed a child bond with me, a mother is supposed to support their child's choices, even if they don't agree with them, and be here for them if something goes wrong and they need their parent to help them figure out what to do".
"Why humans? why the wolf?"
"I grew up there I'm more comfortable there and because I love her, I want her as my mate, I want to have children with her someday that will most likely be some strange mix of wolf and panther" I say softly.
Nix hisses point at Mathilda while looking at me "She has rejected you when you try to mate, how could you complete a mating bond or have children if she will not mate you".
I open my mouth then close it frowning unsure how to respond "I'm not rejecting her, I have never been with anyone ever, plus I have the Alpha reproduction part how would she ever want me like this".
