This A.N is going to be in all three of my ongoing stories. So Harry Potter and the secret inheritance, Ember Potter and the secret of the gems, and Crystal Potter the half-ghost witch will all have the same A.N so if you read one of my other stories know you can just skip this bit.
So you all know I have spelling and grammar problems, well I asked something on Wattpad (Because that's for some reason the only site that has a community board, like seriously why doesn't AO3 at least have one of those, it would make asking your readers things so much easier!).
What I asked was if my readers would mind if I used ChatGPT to help with my spelling and grammar, I will not use it to write my stories for me. It'll just be there to help with my weaknesses like spelling.
Everyone on Wattpad said that as long as that's all I used it for, and it helped me then to go ahead so these chapters were corrected by ChatGPT. I went back and reread them side by side of the original text and all that was changed was spelling and some phrasing to better understand what's going on.
I wanted to let you know, because I'm going to be going back through my stories and using chat to correct the spelling and grammar errors in the past chapters.
Anyways lets get onto the reviews!
louiekds06 chapter 32 . Aug 2
This story is nothing but cringe and garbage...
Me: Then why did you read to chapter 32 if that's what you think of it?
Project Infinite chapter 32 . Aug 2
I know this is a bit I wonder how will umbrage feel about Ember's situation as a gem/human hybrid even if she is lady Ravenclaw and lady Slytherin
Me: Oh she would hate her so much, it doesn't matter what titles Ember has, if Umbitch found out that Ember wasn't full human she would despise her. Might even send dementors after her honestly.
Anyways this is a bit long so onto the story!
To Ember's surprise, the rest of the year went by peacefully. She had spotted some Aurors hanging around and assumed they were dealing with the three-headed dog in the third-floor corridor. She didn't know that the Aurors found more than they bargained for.
When the Aurors went to take care of the overgrown dog, they found an obstacle course. They encountered a Devil's Snare, flying keys that attacked, a human-sized chessboard, and to their shock and horror, another troll.
There was a potions riddle right after the troll that led into a room containing a mirror. Madam Bones was furious when she heard what was being kept in the school. Her niece had stayed there most of the year—what if she had found these things and gotten hurt?
This isn't to say that she wasn't worried about other children getting hurt, but her first thought was of her last remaining family. She was determined to put pressure on the professors for allowing something like this to happen.
Ember had no clue any of this was happening, though. She was spending her days doing paperwork, training, spending time with her friends, and spending a little bit of time with her twin. She was trying to give him a second chance since she knew he was just a child like her.
She also spent time with her mom and Amethyst, getting to know her latest gem's interests. She learned that Amethyst was really into rock music and loved to cook and bake. Ember was so happy to discover this because it was something Amethyst could share with Pearl to bring them closer together.
She knew that spending time with her mom and brother was slowly healing her childhood pain.
That was how she spent her days, while her nights were filled with learning about gem history, fighting Yellow for training, and studying what she needed to know.
She was horrified when White tried to tell her how to create new gems. She couldn't believe that the Diamonds had destroyed so many planets when a simple potion could make brand new gems even more effectively than destroying planets full of life.
She took them to task for what they had done, yelling that they could have just used a potion like she did to create gems. She told them that she refused to rule the way they did.
Their way of ruling was one of the reasons the gem race died out. They would kill any gem that wasn't perfect in their eyes. She refused to be the same. She lectured the Diamonds for hours about how everyone had flaws and their own special likes and dislikes; gems weren't any different from humans in that way.
She had just finished her exams and sighed in relief. She might be smart and enjoy studying, but she was still glad the tests were over for now.
Ember was walking down the hallway on her own when she saw something that made her hide and narrow her eyes. Why was Professor Quirrell carrying her brother over his shoulder?
She gritted her teeth as she saw him enter the room that used to hold the three-headed dog. She silently followed him. She didn't know what he was planning, but that was her brother, and she refused to let anyone hurt him in any way!
She made sure to stay far enough back that the Professor didn't see her but close enough that he remained in her sights.
Soon enough, they reached the last room, and the Professor threw her brother onto the ground and revived him. She froze when she got a good look at his face for the first time—those were not Professor Quirrell's eyes. No, she knew those eyes.
Those were the eyes of the man who still haunted her nightmares. Those were Voldemort's eyes.
She summoned her sword, knowing she would need it. She didn't want to risk revealing that she could summon the sword from her chest—at least, that's what it would look like to anyone outside the loop.
She waited in tense silence as Voldemort started monologuing to Damien. She could see how terrified her brother was. She listened as Voldemort explained that Damien would help him get something from the mirror behind him.
Her eyes narrowed as she looked at the mirror. So he wanted something from the mirror, did he? Well, she knew what to do.
She took out her wand and quickly shot a blasting curse at the mirror. Neither Voldemort nor Damien had time to react as the spell crashed into the mirror, causing it to explode into pieces.
Voldemort screamed and started trying to repair the mirror with magic. Ember quickly untied her brother and pulled him away from the monster of a man standing before them. Just like in the forest, she put herself between her brother and the danger in front of them, something that Damien noticed.
Voldemort growled and spun around to face the two children, his red eyes glowing fiercely in the dark. He got a dark smile on his face when he saw Ember.
"Oh my, it seems the true child has finally arrived," his voice sounded like Professor Quirrell's, only darker in nature.
Damien was obviously confused, but Ember just tightened her grip on her sword and glared harder at the monster before them.
"I see your brother is confused. How about we educate him, girl?" Ember's eyes widened when she realized that Voldemort wanted to reveal to Damien that she was the child he attacked and not him. Damien deserved to know, sure, but not right now! Not when he was already so devastated, thanks to how he had treated her!
Before anyone could say a word, Tilly and Bippy popped in behind Voldemort, dark looks on their little elven faces. Bippy kicked Voldemort's legs out from behind, forcing him to quickly kneel to try and stabilize himself, while Tilly used a frying pan to knock the monster out.
Ember and Damien just stared at the two house-elves in disbelief.
"Bippy, Tilly, what in Merlin's name are you two doing here?" Ember asked, her confusion evident.
Bippy spoke up first, looking excited, "Missy Pearl asked Bippy and Tilly to keep watch on Mistress Ember. We are to keep you safe!"
Tilly spoke up after Bippy, "We saw mean man about to hurt you, so we step in. We defend our mistress good!"
Ember let out a laugh, "Yeah, you two did good. Can you use a stunner on him and then go get Madam Bones, Mom, and Jasper, please?"
Bippy nodded, his large ears flapping as he did so. "Bippy goes, Tilly stays and protects!"
Bippy then popped away, leaving the two kids, one madman, and one house-elf in the room. Tilly stunned the man so he wouldn't wake up, and to Damien's amusement, she sat on him.
"Ember, I have never seen a house-elf act like this before," Damien said, clearly curious and confused.
"Oh yeah, I make sure mine are comfortable with me. I also made sure they knew how to fight and defend themselves—and me—if it was ever needed," Ember glanced at Tilly and snickered. "No idea where she got the sitting on her enemies thing from, though. In all honesty, I blame Jasper."
Damien snickered with her. "He'll be pissed when he finds out that a 'lowly house-elf' used his downed body as a chair."
The two kids burst out laughing. It wasn't even that funny, but Ember realized that they were both coming down from adrenaline. She glanced at her brother and smiled softly. One day she would tell him the truth when she knew he could take it, but right now, she knew that it would destroy him, and she didn't want that.
Not anymore. When she was younger and still so angry, she wanted him to pay for how he treated her. Now that she was older and understood things better, all she wanted was to have her brother by her side for as long as she could.
Soon enough, the two children heard the sound of footsteps on the stone floor of the room behind them. Turning, the twins saw their mom burst through the door first. She ignored the man on the ground and rushed to her children, pulling them into her arms as she shook. Amethyst wasn't far behind, a look of fear on her face that caused Ember's heart to clench.
Jasper was right behind her, and both Gems rushed over and checked on the twins. Amethyst had come to care for Damien since she spent a lot of time with him when he visited his mom.
Madam Bones and three Aurors were right behind them. All four stopped and stared at the sight before them.
Amelia so wanted to laugh when she saw the house-elf using this man as her own personal throne, but she needed to stay professional. She used another stunner on him to make sure he would stay asleep. She then had an Auror cuff him and told them to take the man to the Department of Mysteries, but to keep stunning him so he didn't wake. They had no clue what he would do if he woke up, and she refused to let this monster get away.
She turned to the group sitting on the ground and smiled softly before turning stern. She still needed to find out what happened. She also wanted to know how that mirror wound up back down here when she knew for a fact that it was taken away months ago.
Lily stood up, making sure she kept her children close to her. She couldn't believe how close she had come to losing them again. She squeezed their shoulders as the thought filled her head. She would talk to Ember and see if she could make a bodyguard for Damien as well as herself. She would sleep better at night knowing magical gem people were looking after her children and keeping them safe when she couldn't be there for them.
Lily nodded at Madam Bones and took the group to her office so the Auror could interview her children and find out what happened.
Lily was so proud of her little girl but also frustrated with her as well. Her daughter was so smart, but she acted so much like a Gryffindor at times. So much so that Lily was fifty percent sure that the Hat sorted her daughter into the wrong house.
"Why didn't you tell someone what was happening?" Madam Bones seemed to be thinking the same thing as Lily.
Ember looked sheepish. "I was worried about Damien and didn't think. Other than Jasper and Pearl, I'm not used to trusting adults," she said, glancing at Lily. "I'm getting there with Mom, though."
Lily gave her daughter a small smile, still holding Damien close to her side. He had already given his story: one minute, he was walking down the hallway, and the next, he was being revived in the room with Voldemort staring down at him.
Jasper, Lily, and Madam Bones went to see Professor McGonagall and got permission to take the twins home early since classes were over. She was shocked when she heard what had happened and gave permission as soon as she was asked.
Lily knew that Dumbledore would try to contact her later to bring at least Damien back to the school, but she would refuse, saying she already got permission from the Deputy Headmistress and the Head Auror.
It didn't take long to get the kids' things and get to Ember's place. Since Lily was staying there when not at Hogwarts, this is where Damien would be staying when it was her time with him.
Ember gave him a room right next to hers, not wanting him to be too far away from her right now. It didn't matter, though, because both of them fell asleep in the living room, curled up together on the couch—something Lily and Pearl made sure to get plenty of pictures of.
