Getting Endorsements
It was near sunset when Lincoln and Sonia reached Professor Magnolia's house. But to their surprise, they saw that Leon and Hop were there, talking with Professor Magnolia.
"Professor Magnolia. Have you made any progress in your research on the Dynamax phenomenon yet?" Leon asked Professor Magnolia.
"Not yet. There's still so much we don't know about it. I'm hoping that my granddaughter would help with that matter, but she..." Professor Magnolia started to say, but she stops when she sees Lincoln and Sonia approaching them.
"Hey, Professor Magnolia. What's going on?" asked Lincoln.
"Oh, hello Lincoln. I heard that Leon gave you a Pokemon." said Professor Magnolia.
"You bet." said Lincoln. Scorbunny hops off Lincoln's shoulders and over to Professor Magnolia.
"Hello. It's nice to meet you." says Scorbunny.
"He says it's nice to meet you." says Lincoln, much to Leon, Hop, and Professor Magnolia's surprise.
"Wait. You can actually understand what he said?" replied Hop.
"Yes. Sonia gave me these devices that can allow you to understand what Pokemon are saying." says Lincoln.
"Oh, I see that Sonia gave you the PokeTranslators." said Professor Magnolia.
"Yes. I thought that Lincoln could test them out for us." said Sonia.
"That's okay. How are they working, Lincoln?" asked Professor Magnolia.
"They're working perfectly. I can understand what all my Pokemon are saying." said Lincoln.
"That's wonderful. I'm glad to hear that you're happy with them." said Professor Magnolia.
"I want some PokeTranslators, Professor." said Hop.
"I'm sorry, but those were the only ones we had. They're just prototypes and we're still testing them. But if Lincoln says they're working perfectly, I don't see why we can't make you a set." said Professor Magnolia.
"Yes!" said Hop.
"Hey, Hop. What brings you here?" asked Lincoln.
"I was hoping that Professor Magnolia here can convince Leon here to endorse us." said Hop. Professor Magnolia turns to look at Leon.
"You haven't endorsed them, yet?" says Professor Magnolia.
"They're still new as traniners, Professor Magnolia. There's still so much they have to learn before I can consider endorsing them." said Leon.
"But isn't it your goal to make Galar trainers strong?" asked Professor Magnolia.
"Well you're not wrong about that. In fact, it's the reason that I gave them both Pokemon in the first place." says Leon. He thinks for a while before turning to look at Lincoln and Hop. "Okay, then. How about this? If you two can show me an awesome battle between you two of you, I'll endorse you." says Leon.
"You got it, bro!" says Hop. "Come on, Lincoln. You have to battle me. It's the only way we'll get endorsements." Hop then runs over to the small arena that Lincoln saw after he woke up in Galar the day after he arrived and stands on one side of it. Lincoln runs after him and stands on the other side. Leon walks over to the center and looks at both boys.
"This will be a best of three battle between Hop and Lincoln. You will both use three Pokemon. Whoever wins the most battles will be the winner." says Leon. Lincoln and Hop each pull out a pokeball.
"Wooloo, I choose you." says Hop as he releases Wooloo from his pokeball.
"Scorbunny. Get ready." says Lincoln. Scorbunny hops in front of Lincoln.
"Bring it on." says Scorbunny.
"Okay, Scorbunny. Use Double Kick." says Lincoln. Scorbunny leaps at Wooloo and gives him two solid kicks which send him flying over to Hop. Hop looks over at Wooloo and was stunned when he saw that Wooloo was unconscious.
"What the...That was quick." said Hop.
"Lincoln caught and trained some Pokemon before we got here. So don't be surprised if all his Pokemon are that strong." said Sonia.
"What? How many Pokemon have you got?" asked Hop.
"Six. I caught five after I got Scorbunny. I would've caught more, but I ran out of the pokeballs that Sonia loaned me and the store in Wedgehurst doesn't sell them for some reason." says Lincoln.
"Really? That's a shame. I'll give you some pokeballs after this battle." said Leon.
"Thanks, Leon. That would be awesome." said Lincoln.
"We're not done with this battle yet." said Hop. "Rookiedee, I choose you." Hop releases his Rookiedee.
"You have a Rookiedee, too? So do I." says Lincoln. Lincoln throws his Rookiedee's pokeball, releasing her. "Are you ready, Rookiedee?" Lincoln asked Rookiedee.
"You bet I am." says Rookiedee.
"Rookiedee, use Leer." says Lincoln. Rookiedee stares down Hop's Rookiedee making him nervous and lowering his defensive power.
"Quick, Rookiedee. Use Peck." says Hop. Hop's Rookiedee flies at Lincoln's Rookiedee and pecks her head.
"Ow! That hurt!" says Rookiedee.
"My Rookiedee didn't like that. Okay, then. Rookiedee, use Fury Attack." says Lincoln.
"Feel my fury!" says Rookiedee as she flew at Hop's Rookiedee and unleashes a flurry of rapid strikes on him, and combined with the weakened defense from Leer, it was too much for Hop's Rookiedee to handle and he passes out.
"Oh, man. You're Pokemon are strong." says Hop as he returns his Rookiedee to his pokeball. Lincoln pats his Rookiedee on her head and returns her to her pokeball. Hop pulls out his last pokeball. "I know that you've already won; but I'm not giving up as long as I have Pokemon still willing to battle." says Hop as he throws his pokeball, releasing his Grookey. Grookey bounces in anticipation for the battle.
"That's the spirit, Hop. Never give up until it's over." says Leon. Lincoln smiles at his friend's determination as he pulls out another pokeball.
"Yeah. You should never back down, Hop; no matter what." says Lincoln. "Okay, Butterfree, come on out." said Lincoln as he releases Butterfree from his pokeball, surprising Hop.
"Where did you get a Butterfree?" asked Hop.
"Actually, he used to be a Caterpie I captured. But after all the training I gave him, he evolved into a Metapod, and after that, he became a Butterfree." explained Lincoln.
"Maybe I should've taken the time to train my Pokemon more." said Hop.
"Butterfree, use Gust." said Lincoln. Butterfree flaps his wings, unleashing a large gust of wind which sends Grookey flying. Grookey was down, but still able to stand and was still willing to fight.
"Grookey, try using your new Branch Poke attack." said Hop. Grookey jumps at Butterfree and jabs him with his stick. But due to Branch Poke being a grass-type attack and Butterfree being part-bug and part-flying; Branch Poke didn't do much damage to him.
"Butterfree, use Tackle." says Lincoln. Butterfree flies at Grookey and slams into him. Grookey was sent skidding across the ground and stops at Hop's feet. Grookey tried to get up, but he was too exhausted and he passes out. Hop stands in shock.
"So strong." says Hop. Leon waves towards Lincoln.
"The battle is over. The winner is Lincoln." says Leon.
"Good work, Butterfree." says Lincoln as he hugs his Butterfree.
"Thanks, Lincoln." says Butterfree. Lincoln then returns Butterfree to his pokeball. Hop walks over to Lincoln and holds his hand out. Lincoln smiles and they both shake hands.
"You're Pokemon are strong, Lincoln. I should've taken the time to train mine more." said Hop.
"Don't worry about losing. You learn more from that than you do from winning. Now you know what you have to work on. If you're going to challenge your brother, you'll need to become a lot stronger, and this battle can be used as motivation to help you push yourself beyond your limits and become a very powerful trainer; maybe even more powerful than Leon." says Lincoln. Hop takes a deep breath and opens his eyes with a look of determination.
"You're right, Lincoln. I can't let this loss stop me. I'm going to train my Pokemon harder until I become strong enough to beat my brother." says Hop.
"That's the spirit, Hop." says Lincoln. Leon walks over and looks at both of them.
"Well I have to say that was an amazing battle, you two. Because of Lincoln's skill and Hop's determination and spirit, I have no choice but to endorse the both of you." says Leon. He hands Lincoln and Hop each a letter of endorsement.
"We did it, Lincoln. We can enter the Gym Challenge now." says Hop with excitement. Suddenly, a streak of light appears in the sky and hits the ground near the lake.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln. They both run over to where the light hit the ground and see a small crater with two small glowing purple stones in it.
"Wow! Those are Wishing Stars!" says Hop as he picks them up and hands one to Lincoln. "You can have this one since there's two of them." Leon, Sonia, and Professor Magnolia walk over to them.
"It appears that fortune has smiled on you, two. It's said that they only appear to those who hold a true wish in their hearts." said Professor Magnolia.
"That's cool." said Lincoln.
"Not only that, they can be used to give you the ability to Dynamax your Pokemon." said Professor Magnolia.
"That would be so awesome." said Hop.
"But before you can, I need to borrow them so I can make some Dynamax Bands for you both. Give me some time and I should have Dynamax Bands for you two by morning." said Professor Magnolia.
"Thanks, Professor." said Lincoln. Leon reaches into his cape and pulls out two handfuls of empty pokeballs.
"And before I forget; here's some pokeballs for you and Hop. If you're going to train a powerful team, you'll need to capture lots of Pokemon to train." says Leon.
"Thanks, Leon." says Lincoln.
"Thanks, bro." says Hop.
"I believe that's enough excitement for one day. Let's all have some dinner and call it a day." says Professor Magnolia.
"Oh, boy. I just learned a new curry recipe that I'm just dying to try out." says Sonia. Everyone went inside and had dinner. Once they finished eating and the dishes were cleaned, Leon and Hop went back to Postwick, while Lincoln took a shower and got ready for bed. That night while everyone was sleeping, Lincoln was lying on the couch, looking at the stars through the window with a sad look on his face. Scorbunny, who was lying on Lincoln notices this.
"Lincoln? What's wrong?" asked Scorbunny.
"I just really miss my family. I wonder if they're still looking for me." Lincoln asked himself.
"Have you tried using your Rotom Phone to call them?" asked Scorbunny.
"I tried the day I got it; but I can't call anyone outside the Galar Region for some reason." said Lincoln.
"Oh. I'm sorry." said Scorbunny.
"That's okay, buddy." said Lincoln. "I'm not going to give up on trying to get back to my home. But in the meantime, I'll do the Gym Challenge until I can find a way to do so. Who knows; I might find a way during my journey.
"I hope you do." says Scorbunny.
"Thanks, Scorbunny. Now let's get some sleep. We have a big today tomorrow." says Lincoln. With that, they both close their eyes and fall asleep.

Authors Note: Well the votes are in; and the sisters who will be joining Lincoln will be Leni, Luna, Lucy, and Lana; each with three votes. We changed our minds about only using Pokemon only found in just Sword, we'll be using both Sword and Shield Pokemon. We'll also be doing a vote for if Clyde should join him too.
