Sam vs Kabu
After Sam gets her Pokemon treated at the Pokemon Center following her battle with Nessa, the group decides to head through Galar Mine No. 2.
"Why are we walking?" asked Lola with a pout.
"I want to train up my Shellos for my battle against Kabu." said Sam.
"Good call, dudette." said Luna. As the group walks down the rocky mine, they see what looked like a pokeball on the ground.
"Finders keepers." said Lana as she runs over to it. Lincoln then notices the ground around the 'pokeball' start to shift, along with sharp edges coming out of it.
"Lana, watch out!" said Lincoln. All of a sudden, a flat, gray Pokemon with dark gray edges that are like a bear trap, along with light green, pawlike marking on it, snaps out of the ground at Lana, making her quickly move back to dodge it.
"Are you okay, Lana?!" asked Leni.
"Yeah, that was nothing. I've wrestled bigger alligators with bigger bites!" said Lana.
"What Pokemon is that?" asked Lincoln as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Stunfisk, the Trap Pokemon. Its conspicuous lips lure prey in as it lies in wait in the mud. When prey gets close, Stunfisk clamps its jagged steel fins down on them." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"We can't let what it tried to do to Lana slide!" said Luna.
"Let me take this one!" said Sam.
"Go for it, dudette." said Luna. Sam lets out her Shellos and he stands ready for battle.
"Okay, Shellos; use Water Pulse!" said Sam; Shellos releases a watery soundwave from his body which hits the Stunfisk, doing super effective damage. The Stunfisk responds by launching a glob of mud at Shellos, hitting it, and slowing him down. "Shellos, use Water Gun!" Shellos releases a spray of water from his mouth that hits the Stunfisk and sends it flying into a tunnel wall. Sam quickly takes out an empty pokeball from her pocket and throws it at the Stunfisk, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Way to go, Sam!" said Luna. Sam looks up her new Stunfisk's information.
"This says that Stunfisk is part steel and part ground; it's a dudette, she knows Mud-Slap, Tackle, Water Gun, Metal Claw, Endure, Mud Shot, Revenge, and Metal Sound; and he has the Mimicry ability which changes what type she is depending on what kind of field she's on." said Sam.
After that, as the group heads through the mine and out onto the Motostoke Outskirts, Sam trains up her Shellos some more and he soon learns Body Slam, and Muddy Water. After he learned those moves, he froze up and starts to glow.
"Whoa, dudes!" said Luna. "Sam's Shellos is evolving!" Everyone watches as Shellos starts to change; when he was done, he was bigger, he had a green mantle with yellow stripes on it covering the top half of his body, he has six stubby legs, and he had a mark on his face that looked like a third eye. Sam takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her newly evolved Shellos.
"Gastrodon, the Sea Slug Pokemon, and the evolved form of Shellos. Its body is covered in a sticky slime. It's very susceptible to dehydration, so it can't spend too much time on land." said Sam's Rotom Phone.
"That's so cool!" said Lincoln.
"And this says my Gastrodon is part ground type." said Sam. After that, the group walks towards Motostoke in the distance.
"Just one more badge and you'll be caught up with us, Sam." said Luna as she and Sam walked side-by-side.
"I hope I can beat Kabu." said Sam.
"Don't sweat it, dudette." said Luna. "We all managed to beat him, so I'm sure that you can, too."
"Thanks, Lunes." said Sam before she kisses Luna on the cheek, making her blush. Five minutes later, they reach their destination and head into Motostoke Stadium where Sam goes to the front desk.
"Are you here for your Gym Test, young lady?" asked the staff member who was at the desk.
"You bet!" said Sam.
"Fortunately for you, there's enough time left in the day for one more gym battle." said the staff member. "Just get changed into your uniform and report to the test area. Sam goes into the dressing room and does as requested; then comes out and reports to the test area. She is told what to do for her Gym Test and she manages to capture a Vulpix, Litwick, and Sizzlipede; earning her enough points to pass.
Five minutes later, Sam was walking out of a tunnel that led out onto the pitch with Kabu walking beside her. They soon reach the center of the field and face each other.
"Congratulations on passing your Gym Test, young lady." said Kabu.
"Thank you, sir." said Sam. She and Kabu then walk to opposite sides of the field as an official walks to the center of it.
"This is an official gym battle between the Gym Leader, Kabu; and the Gym Challenger, Sam." said the official. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; whichever trainer is able to knock out all their opponent's Pokemon first will be the winner. Let the match begin." The official then heads for the sidelines as Sam and Kabu each pull out a pokeball. Kabu throws his, releasing his Ninetales; Sam throws her, releasing her Gastrodon.
"And the battle has begun; with Kabu starting out with his Ninetales while Sam starts out with a Gastrodon." said the announcer.
"Ninetales, use Will-O-Wisp!" said Kabu. Ninetales releases small bits of purple fire from its tails which float towards Gastrodon.
"Gastrodon, dodge and use Water Pulse!" said Sam. Gastrodon rolls to the side, narrowly dodging the Will-O-Wisp and releases a pulsating mass of water at the Ninetales, hitting it, doing super effective damage and more thanks to Gastrodon's Sea Incense, the Ninetales suddenly starts stumbling around.
"And Water Pulse has made Ninetales confused!" said the announcer.
"Ninetales, try using Tackle!" said Kabu. Ninetales tries running towards Gastrodon, but it stumbles while doing so, making it fall to the ground and knocking itself out.
"Ninetales in unable to battle. Gastrodon is the winner." said the official.
"And Sam's Gastrodon has taken out Kabu's Ninetales!" said the announcer.
"Yes! Way to go, Gastrodon!" said Sam. Her friends in the stands were cheering her on.
"That was amazing!" said Lincoln.
"Keep it up, Sam!" said Luna.
"We, totes, believe in you!" said Leni.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was watching Sam's gym battle and cheering her.
"Sam's doing awesome!" said Simon.
"I hope she wins." said Luan.
"Don't worry; she's got this." said Lynn Jr.
Back at Motostoke Stadium, Kabu was returning his Ninetales to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Ninetales." said Kabu before putting Ninetales' pokeball away and pulling another pokeball off his waist; he throws it, releasing his Arcanine.
"And Kabu's brought out his Arcanine. Can it beat Sam's Gastrodon?" asked the announcer.
"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed!" said Kabu. Arcanine moves at Gastrodon at incredible speed and slams into him, knocking him back.
"Gastrodon, use Body Slam!" said Sam. Gastrodon propels himself into the air and drops down hard onto Arcanine, driving it into the ground. When it got back up to its feet, it suddenly starts twitching a bit.
"And it looks like that Body Slam has paralyzed Arcanine!" said the announcer. "Will that slow it down enough for Gastrodon to keep up with its speed?"
"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed again!" said Kabu. Arcanine tries to, but paralysis kicks in and stops it.
"Gastrodon, use Muddy Water!" said Sam. Gastrodon releases a large flood of brown water from his body which washes over Arcanine and does enough super effective damage, thanks in part to his Sea Incense, to knock it out.
"Arcanine is unable to battle. Gastrodon is the winner." said the official.
"And Sam's Gastrodon has taken out another of Kabu's Pokemon!" said the announcer. "Can it keep it up and take out Kabu's last Pokemon?"
"Awesome job, Gastrodon!" said Sam. Gastrodon looks at Sam and smiles.
"Rad!" said Luna.
"I haven't seen brown water since Lana's last bath." said Lola.
"When was her last bath?" asked Lincoln.
"Over a month ago." said Lucy.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was rooting for Sam.
"Just one more Pokemon to beat and Sam wins the match!" said Simon.
"She's got this match in the bag." said Lynn Jr.
Back at Motostoke Stadium, Kabu was returning his Arcanine to its pokeball.
"You fought well, Arcanine." said Kabu before putting Arcanine's pokeball away. "I must say, young lady; you did a fine job training your Gastrodon."
"Yeah, we both worked really hard to get him ready for this gym battle." said Sam. Kabu nods before taking his last pokeball off his waist and throws it, releasing his Centiskorch; he then returns it to the pokeball, then uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it; he then throws it behind him, releasing Centiskorch again, this time Gigantimaxed.
"And Kabu's last Pokemon is a Gigantimaxed Centiskorch! Can Sam defeat it?" asked the announcer.
"Centiskorch, use G-Max Centiferno!" said Kabu. Centiskorch bunches its body together and releases a stream of fire from it, hitting Gastrodon, but not doing much damage to him, due to him being part water; a vortex of fire suddenly appears around him.
"And Gastrodon is trapped in a vortex of fire! What will Sam do?" asked the announcer.
"Gastrodon, use Ancient Power!" said Sam. Gastrodon summons up rocks with fossils in them and launches them through the vortex, and hitting the Gigantimaxed Centiskorch, doing lots of super effective damage to it, due to it being part bug and part fire. A surge of energy rises up from Gastrodon. He suddenly takes damage from the vortex.
"And Gastrodon's attack not only does a lot of damage to Kabu's Centiskorch, it powered Gastrodon up; but it also just took some damage from the vortex!" said the announcer.
"Centiskorch, use Max Flare!" said Kabu. Centiskorch fires a stream of fire from its mandibles, hitting Gastrodon, not doing much to him. The sunlight suddenly got intense.
"And Centiskorch's attack has turned up the heat in the stadium which will weaken Gastrodon's water attacks. Is this it for Gastrodon?!" asked the announcer.
"Not by a long shot!" said Sam. "Gastrodon, use one more Muddy Water!" Gastrodon releases another rush of brown water which washes over the battlefield, including Centiskorch; and thanks to his Sea Incesne compensating for the intense sunlight; it does enough damage to cause the energy in Centiskorch to explode, and returns it to its normal size, unconscious.
"Centiskorch is unable to battle. Gastrodon is the winner. The winner of the match is the Gym Challenger, Sam Sharp!" said the official.
"And it's over!" said the announcer. "Sam's Gastrodon has washed away all Kabu's Pokemon, earning her the victory!"
"Yes! Way to go, Gastrodon!" said Sam as she runs over to him and hugs him, making him smile.
"She won!" said Luna.
"That was so cool!" said Ronnie Anne.
"I knew she could do it!" said Leni.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was celebrating Sam's victory.
"Sam did it!" cheered Simon.
"That was intense!" said Lynn Jr.
"But at least she won." said Howard McBride.
Back at Motostoke Stadium, Kabu was returning his Centiskorch to its pokeball.
"You gave it everything you got, Centiskorch; and that's all that really matters." said Kabu before putting Centiskorch's pokeball away and walking over to Sam. "You were a strong opponent, Sam."
"Thanks, dude." said Sam. Kabu reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Fire Badge.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with this Fire Badge." said Kabu as he hands it, along with some pokedollars, to Sam.
"Right on! I won the Fire Badge!" said Sam as she holds it up in triumph.
Later in the lobby, everyone was congratulating Sam on her victory.
"You were so rockin!" said Luna.
"We're so glad you won!" said Lola.
"And now you have three badges like the rest of us!" said Clyde.
"Thanks, everyone." said Sam with a smile.
Now Sam has won her third badge. What will the group do as their Gym Challenge continues?
