Stow-on-Side Gym Battles (Part One)
The group enters the stadium and go over to the staff member standing nearby.
"Hey, we're here to challenge the Stow-on-Side gym leader." said Lincoln.
"Very well." said the staff member. "Which of you will be doing the Gym Test first?"
"I'll do it." said Lucy from behind the staff member, startling her.
"O-Okay." said the staff member. "Just enter the doors and another staff member will explain the rules."
"Do your best, Lucy." said Lincoln.
"We'll be cheering for you from the bleachers." said Luna.
"We, totes, believe in you." said Leni.
"Thanks, everyone." said Lucy. She goes through the doors and enters the test area.
Meanwhile in Royal Woods, everyone at the Loud house was watching Lucy on TV.
"Wonder what this Gym Test is going to be like?" asked Lynn Jr.
"I'm sure our siblings can handle this." said Lori.
Back at the Stow-on-Side stadium, Lucy was looking around the test area with interest. The room was a little dark with the several of Allister's symbols floating around like ghosts, in front of her were several platforms slanted downwards that were over a seemingly bottomless abyss with an eerie fog hovering below.
"Wicked." said Lucy. She then walks over to the staff official who was standing next to what looked like a large Sinistea with a wheel at the center of it.
"Hello, Gym Challenger." said the staff member. "Allow me to explain to you how the Gym Test works. You need to ride these cups to the goal at the bottom while trying to avoid obstacles; you can use the wheel inside to steer yourself towards the paths leading down. When you reach the bottom, you will complete your Gym Test."
"Okay." said Lucy. She then climbs into the cup and starts riding down the first platform. She experimented with the wheel for a bit before getting the hang of it. She was able to steer herself around the first set of obstacles until she reached the bottom of the first platform.
She then gets into the next cup and makes her way down. The obstacles around that platform were a bit trickier, plus there were some large green hands that launched her around, but she figured out how to use them to her advantage and she soon reaches the bottom.
The last platform was the trickiest one, but she eventually figured it out and she makes it to the bottom and completes her Gym Test.
In the stadium lobby, the rest of the group was watching her.
"That Gym Test looks like fun!" said Lana.
"I'll bet Lucy liked the ghost theme." said Ronnie Anne.
"And I'll bet Lucy's also looking forward to meeting Allister again." said Lola with a smirk.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering for Lucy's completion of her Gym Test.
"I knew Lucy could do it." said Lynn Sr.
"That test was like a carnival ride." said Luan.
"And it looked like Lucy's kind of one." said Lynn Jr.
"Now all she has to do is defeat the gym leader." said Lori.
Back at the stadium, Lucy was looking out at the stadium field with her siblings and friends all in the crowd supporting her. On the center of the battle arena, a stadium official was watching Allister come out of a stadium tunnel and over to him.
"Okay, now where's your opponent?" asked the official.
"S-She's right behind you." said Allister, making the official look behind him and got startled when she saw Lucy.
"Hi." said Lucy.
"I didn't hear you coming!" said the official.
"Welcome to our world!" shouts Lola from the crowd. Lucy and Allister look at one another.
"I've been looking forward to this since we hung out together last night." said Allister.
"So have I." said Lucy with a blush.
"This gym battle is between the gym leader, Allister, and the Gym Challenger, Lucy Loud. Both trainers will use four Pokemon. The first trainer to defeat all their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said the official. Lucy and Allister take a long look at each other and walk to opposite ends of the arena and they each take out a pokeball. Allister throws his, releasing his Mimikyu; and Lucy throws hers, releasing her Dusknoir.
"And it looks like a battle of the ghost types! Who will triumph?" asked the announcer.
"Mimikyu, use Shadow Sneak!" said Allister. A shadow extends from Mimikyu's costume and over to Dusknoir; a shadowy figure comes out and strikes him, doing super effective damage.
"Dusknoir, use Shadow Punch!" said Lucy. Dusknoir floats at Mimikyu with a fist coated in dark energy and punches it, but it didn't seem to do much but break its costume a little bit. "Why didn't that do a lot of damage to it?"
"Mimikyu has the Disguise ability." explained Allister. "His costume actually takes the first hit thrown at him during a battle."
"That sounds handy." said Lucy.
"Mimikyu, use Shadow Claw!" said Allister. A large shadowy claw comes out from under Mimikyu's costume and slashes at Dusknoir, doing super effective damage.
"Dusknoir, use Shadow Punch again!" said Lucy. Dusknoir gives Mimikyu another shadowy punch to him, this time doing super effective damage.
"Disguise only works once." said Allister. "Mimikyu, use Shadow Ball!" Mimikyu forms a ball of dark energy over its branch tail and launches it at Dusknoir, doing super effective damage, and knocking him out.
"Dusknoir is unable to battle. Mimikyu is the winner." said the official.
"Unbelievable! A Loud's Pokemon was just defeated!" said the official.
"Poor Dusknoir." said Leni.
"Well, these gym leaders are always getting stronger." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, but Lucy can still win this." said Luna.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was watching with stunned shock.
"That Mimikyu thing is tough." said Lori.
"I hope Lucy will be okay." said Rita.
"Don't worry, our kids are strong." said Lynn Sr. "Lucy can still do this."
"I hope so." said Luan.
Back at the stadium, Lucy returned her Dusknoir to his pokeball.
"Rest like the dead, which is funny to say considering you're a ghost type." said Lucy. She puts Dusknoir's pokeball away and pulls out another one; she throws it, releasing her Decidueye.
"And Lucy brings out a Decidueye! Can it defeat Allister's Mimikyu?" asked the announcer.
"You better believe it can, bub!" shouts Lola.
"Decidueye, Spirit Shackle!" said Lucy. Decidueye pulls out a quill arrow from his wing and fires it at Mimikyu, hitting the ground beneath him, causing a blue flame to shoot up and consume his body, doing enough super effective damage to knock him out.
"Mimikyu is unable to battle. Decidueye is the winner." said the official.
"And Lucy's Decidueye has taken out Allister's Mimikyu. Will it keep up its momentum?" asked the official.
"Way to go, Lucy!" said Clyde.
"You got this!" said Sam.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was supporting Lucy.
"Now they both have three Pokemon each." said Lori.
"Lucy will win!" said Lynn Jr.
"She will!" said Lynn Sr.
Back at the stadium, Allister returns his Mimikyu to its pokeball.
"You did well, Mimikyu." said Allister. He puts Mimikyu's pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing a thin, wispy Pokemon with purple eyes, and a stone tablet that was held by the end of its body.
"What is that?" asked Lucy as she takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Yamask, the Spirit Pokemon. It's said that this Pokémon was formed when an ancient clay tablet was drawn to a vengeful spirit." said Lucy's Rotom Phone.
"And Allister brings out a Yamask! Will it be able to beat Lucy's Decidueye?" asked the announcer.
"That is so cool." said Lucy.
"I'm glad you like him." said Allister.
"But I still have to fight him." said Lucy. "Decidueye, use Leaf Blade!" Decidueye flies at Yamask and slashes it with a glowing green wing, doing super effective damage. All of a sudden, a dark energy envelops Decidueye.
"Yamask's ability is Wandering Spirit." said Allister. "The ability swaps itself with the Pokemon that attacked him."
"To me, that makes Deciduye even cooler." said Lucy.
"I really like you, Lucy." said Allister, making Lucy blush, and his siblings in the crowd and the Loud house squeal with delight.
"Lucy has a boyfriend!" said Leni.
"What's the wedding going to be like?" asked Lola. "Lucy will probably wear a black wedding dress and there'll be a weird spooky wedding altar in a cemetery."
"Yamask, use Shadow Ball!" said Allister. Yamask forms a ball of dark energy in front of it and launches it at Decideye.
"Decidueye, use Sucker Punch!" said Lucy. After Yamask's Shadow Ball hit Deciduye, doing super effective damage, Decidueye moves out from the smoke it left behind and jabs its wing into Yamask's body, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Yamask is unable to battle. Decidueye is the winner." said the official.
"And Decidueye takes out another of Allister's Pokemon. Will it be able to help Lucy score a victory here?" asked the announcer.
"Keep it up, Lucy!" said Lana.
"You got this!" said Clyde.
"I hope they'll still want to be with each other after this." said Leni.
"Well, Marnie still likes Linky after he beat her in Motostoke." said Lola with a smirk, making Lincoln blush.
Back at the Loud house, everyone is cheering Lucy on.
"She's doing awesome!" said Lynn Jr.
"And Allister likes her!" said Lori with glee.
"He does seem like a nice boy." said Rita.
"And he seems like Lucy's kind of guy." said Luan.
"We'll see what happens." said Lynn Sr.
Back at the stadium, Allister returns his Yamask to its pokeball.
"You did well, Yamask." said Allister. He puts Yamask's pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing a Pokemon that looked like a white coral branch that had a white orb with red eyes in it.
"What's that?" asked Lucy as she takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Cursola, the Coral Pokemon, and the evolved form of Corsola. Be cautious of the ectoplasmic body surrounding its soul. You'll become stiff as stone if you touch it." said Lucy's Rotom Phone.
"And Allister brings out a Cursola. Will it beat Lucy's mighty Deciduye?" asked the announcer.
"I'm learning about so many new ghost Pokemon from you, Allister." said Lucy with a smile on her face.
"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself." said Allister.
"Deciduye, use Spirit Shackle!" said Lucy. Decidueye fires another quill arrow at the ground beneath Cursola, causing blue fire to do super effective damage to it; parts of Cursola's body chip off, causing energy to surge out and up from it.
"Cursola has the Weak Armor ability." said Allister. "If she's hit with an attack, her defense gets weaker, but her speed increases."
"Wicked." said Lucy.
"Cursola, use Hex!" said Allister. Cursola forms a ball of dark energy that had a red eye at the center of it.
"Cool." said Lucy. Cursola launches the attack at Decidueye, doing super effective damage to him.
"Now use Astonish!" said Allister. Cursola folds the branches of her body over herself, then opens them, revealing a scary face that startles Decidueye, making him fall over, hurt itself, and makes him flinch. "Now use Hex one more time!" Cursola forms another orb of dark energy with an eye in it and throws it at Decidueye, hitting him, and knocking him out.
"Decidueye is unable to battle. Cursola is the winner." said the offical.
"Cursola has just beaten Decidueye. Will it help clinch the match for Allister?" asked the announcer.
"Lucy's down to two Pokemon!" said Lana.
"She can still win this!" said Ronnie Anne.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was looking with surprise.
"That Allister kid's good!" said Lori.
"But Lucy will still win!" said Lynn Jr.
"We know she can." said Lynn Sr.
Back at the stadium, Lucy was returning her Decidueye to his pokeball.
"You may rest now, Decidueye." said Lucy. She puts Decidueye's pokeball away and pulls out another one, she throws it, releasing her Trevenant.
"And Lucy brings out a Trevenant. Will it help Lucy defeat Cursola?" asked the announcer.
"Cursola, use Astonish!" said Allister. Cursola once again folds the branches of her body over herself and opens them to reveal a spooky face, startling Trevenant, making her fall over and hurt herself; fortunately, she doesn't flinch.
"Trevenant, use Phantom Force!" said Lucy. Trevenant creates a purple portal beneath herself and sinks into it.
"Cursola, use Harden!" said Allister. Cursola takes in some energy to strengthen her defenses. Suddenly, Trevenant rises out of the ground and strikes Cursola, doing enough super effective damage, and knocks it out.
"Cursola is unable to battle. Trevenant is the winner." said the official.
"And Trevenant defeats Cursola. Now Allister is down to his last Pokemon. Will he pull from behind to win this match?" asked the announcer.
"You go, Lucy!" said Luna.
"Just one more to go!" said Lana.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering for Lucy.
"She's doing great!" said Lori.
"All she has to do is beat one more of Allister's Pokemon and she'll win!" said Lynn Jr.
"But that Allister kid probably saved his strongest one for last." said Luan.
"She'll still beat it." said Rita.
Back at the stadium, Allister returns his Cursola to her pokeball.
"You were great, Cursola." said Allister. He puts Cursola's pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he tosses it, releasing a Gengar.
"And Allister brings out a Gengar. Will it help him win this match?" asked the announcer.
"My last Pokemon... How lonely... How frightening." said Allister. Lucy watches and was surprised when Allister's eyes glowed purple.
"Cool." said Lucy. "I'm liking you more and more." Allister returns his Gengar to its pokeball, then uses the Dynamax Band he had under his sleeve to enlarge it.
"Gengar... Gigantamax... Swallow everything in darkness..." said Allister before he throws the super-sized pokeball, releasing energy that sinks into the ground behind him.
"Where's Gengar?" asked Lincoln. Suddenly, a large Gengar rises up from the ground with the lower half of its body still underground.
"It's like it rose up from the underworld." said Lucy. "I need to get back to the Isle of Armor and get my Gengar some Max Soup."
"Gengar, use G-Max Terror!" said Allister. Gengar launches ghostly furniture at Trevenant, as well as making an image of Gigantamax Gengar appearing underneath her that hits her with more dark energy, doing super effective damage to her; she struggles to stay standing.
"That was a strong attack!" said Lincoln.
"I hope Trevenant can hang on." said Leni.
"Trevenant, use Shadow Claw!" said Lucy. Trevenant uses some of her remaining strength to move at the Gigantamax Gengar and slashes it with a shadowy claw that lands a critical hit and does super effective damage.
"Gengar, use one more G-Max Terror!" said Allister. Gengar hits Trevenant with another batch of ghostly furniture and dark energy from below, knocking her out.
"Trevenant is unable to battle. Gengar is the winner." said the official.
"And Gengar has defeated Lucy's Trevenant. Now both trainers are down to only one Pokemon. Who will win?" asked the announcer.
"Lucy has one Pokemon left!" said Clyde.
"She can still turn this around!" said Lola.
"I hope so." said Leni.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was watching the battle with anticipation.
"That Gengar is tough!" said Lori.
"Can Lucy even beat it?" asked Lynn Sr.
"She can!" said Rita.
"I hope so." said Luan.
Back at the battlefield, Lucy was returning her Trevenant to her pokeball.
"You rest now, Trevenant." said Lucy. She puts Trevenant's pokeball away and pulls out her last one; she throws it, releasing her Gengar.
"So, you have a Gengar as well?" asked Allister.
"Yes." said Lucy.
"And Lucy brings out her own Gengar. Can it beat Allister's?" asked the announcer. Lucy returns her Gengar to its pokeball and uses her Dynamax Band to enlarge it; she then throws it, releasing a now Dynamaxed Gengar. "And it's Dynamaxed Gengar vs Gigantamaxed Gengar. Which will win?"
"Gengar, use G-Max Terror!" said Allister. His Gengar hits Lucy's Gengar with even more ghost furniture and dark energy, doing super effective damage.
"Gengar, use Max Phantasm!" said Lucy. Gengar hits Allister's Gengar with her own batch of ghost furniture, doing super effective damage to it; it also reduces its defense as well. All of a sudden, Allister's Gengar begins shrinking.
"What's going on?" asked Lola. A few seconds later, Allister's Gengar returns to its original size.
"It seems that the Gigantamaxing has worn off." said Allister.
"Dynamaxing's only temporary?" asked Lucy. "We didn't know that considering the battles we have involving Dynamaxed Pokemon ends before it wears off."
"Gengar, use Shadow Punch!" said Allister. Gengar flies at Lucy's Gengar and punches her, doing super effective damage.
"Gengar, use Max Darkness!" said Lucy. Gengar releases dark energy from her hands which consumes Gengar and explodes, doing super effective damage and knocks it out.
"Allister's Gengar is unable to battle. Lucy's Gengar is the winner. That means the winner of the gym match is the Gym Challenger, Lucy Loud." said the official.
"She did it! In the most exciting battle I've ever seen, Lucy has pulled through to earn her the victory!" said the announcer.
"She won!" said Lana.
"I knew she would!" said Leni.
"That was an intense match!" said Clyde.
"We need to be ready for when it's our turns." said Lincoln.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering for Lucy's victory.
"She won!" said Lynn Jr.
"That was so exciting!" said Rita.
"I was sweating from the intensity of that match." said Lisa.
"I'm glad she won!" said Lynn Sr.
Back at the stadium, Allister returns his Gengar to its pokeball.
"You did well, my friend." said Allister. He puts Gengar's pokeball away and he and Lucy walk to the center of the arena with Lucy's Gengar following after her.
"That was fun, Allister." said Lucy.
"It was." said Allister. "Here; a Ghost Badge." He hands a badge with the image of a purple wisp enveloping a purple circle, along with some pokedollars, to Lucy.
"Wicked." said Lucy. As she starts to turn around, she feels something grab her hand; she looks to see Allister holding it.
"One more thing." said Allister. He pulls his mask up a little, revealing his mouth, and kisses Lucy's hand, making her blush, her siblings in the crowd and home squeal with delight, and the rest of the crowd cheer loudly.
Later in the lobby, Lucy's friends and family were swarming her.
"That was awesome!" said Lana.
"Allister likes you!" said Leni. Lucy could only smile and blush as she looks at the hand that Allister kissed. Just then, a staff member walks over to them while looking at Lucy with a smile.
"So, which of you is up next?" asked the staff member.
"I am." said Sam, stepping forward; the staff member steps aside.
"Okay; just go through those doors to where the gym test will take place; a staff member will explain the rules to you." said the staff member. Sam goes through the doors and enters the test area. After the official explained the rules to Sam, she climbs into the large cup and begins riding it down the first platform; after getting the hang of it, she makes it to the end of the platform.
After getting off the cup, she climbs into one on the next platform; the large hands made it a little rough for her, but she was able to make it to the end of the platform.
She soon rode another cup down the third platform; it was difficult for her, but in the end, she made it to the end.
"She made it!" cheered Luna from the lobby.
"Never doubted her." said Ronnie Anne.
"Come on; let's go watch her gym battle." said Lana. She and the rest of the group run to where the gym battle was taking place; after finding seats, they sit down and saw Sam and Allister facing each other.
"This gym battle is between the gym leader, Allister; and the Gym Challenger, Sam Sharp. Both trainers will use four Pokemon. The first trainer to defeat all their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said an official. Sam and Allister walk to opposite ends of the battle arena and they each pull out a pokeball.
"Yamask, go." said Allister, throwing a pokeball and releasing his Yamask.
"Allister starts things off with his Yamask; how will Sam respond?" asked the announcer.
"Go, Gastrodon!" said Sam, throwing Gastrodon's pokeball and releasing him.
"And Sam answers that question by bringing out a Gastrodon." said the announcer.
"This is going to be difficult." said Lucy, getting Lincoln's attention.
"What do you mean?" asked Lincoln. "Yamask is part ground, so Gastrodon will have the advantage."
"No, I mean, I don't know who to root for." said Lucy. "Sam is our friend, but I really like Allister."
"You can just support both." said Lincoln.
"Sigh; I guess." said Lucy. Back at Royal Woods in the Loud residence, the Louds and McBrides were watching.
"You think Sam will win?" asked Luan.
"Don't know; that Allister is one tough gym leader." said Lynn Sr.
"He still got beat." said Lynn Jr.
"Sam can do it." said Lori. Back at the Stow-on-Side stadium.
"Yamask, Astonish." said Allister. Yamask flies at Gastrodon.
"Gastrodon, Harden!" said Sam. Gastrodon glows white and his body shines, increasing his defense before Yamask reaches him and makes a scary face at him, not doing much damage to him, but it did make him flinch.
"Use Brutal Swing." said Allister. Yamask's arm glows pink and it hits Gastrodon with it, but not doing much damage to him due to his increased defense.
"Okay, Gastrodon, use Water Pulse!" said Sam. Gastrodon forms a ball of blue water in front of his mouth and launches it at Yamask, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage, and because of Gastrodon's Wave Incense, Water Pulse was much stronger than it normally was. Dark energy forms around Gastrodon.
"Looks like Yamask's Wandering Spirit ability activated." said Lucy.
"Yamask, Slam." said Allister. Yamask grabs Gastrodon and slams him onto the arena floor, but due to Gastrodon's defense increase, he didn't receive much damage.
"Muddy Water!" said Sam. Brown water forms underneath Gastrodon and washes over Yamask, dealing super effective damage to it, knocking it out.
"Yamask is unable to battle; Gastrodon wins the match." said the official.
"Sam's Gastrodon has defeated Allister's Yamask; what will Allister do now?" asked the announcer.
"Way to go, Sam!" said Luna.
"You can do it!" said Lana. Back at Royal Woods.
"Sam did it!" said Lori.
"Don't celebrate yet, Lori; Allister still has three more Pokemon." said Rita.
"Whatever; Sam can handle them." said Lynn Jr.
"But Allister beat three of Lucy's Pokemon." said Luan.
"We just have to believe in Sam." said Howard McBride. Back at the Stow-on-Side stadium, Allister returns Yamask to its pokeball.
"You did well, Yamask." said Allister. He puts Yamask's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Mimikyu, go." He throws Mimikyu's pokeball and releases it. "Use Hone Claws." Mimikyu becomes surrounded by a light red aura and its attack strength increases.
"Gastrodon, Muddy Water!" said Sam. Gastrodon releases brown water from underneath him and it washes over Mimikyu, but due to its Disguise ability, it only took little damage and the head of its costume tilt to the side.
"Mimikyu, Wood Hammer." said Allister. Mimikyu's stick tail grows and becomes surrounded by a black aura; it swings its tail onto Gastrodon, hitting it, and doing super effective damage to it, knocking it out.
"Gastrodon is unable to battle; Mimikyu wins the match." said the official. Mimikyu winces in pain from the recoil damage caused by Wood Hammer.
"Allister's Mimikyu has defeated Sam's Gastrodon; will Sam make a comeback?" asked the announcer.
"Man, that was brutal." said Luna.
"Don't worry; Sam still has three Pokemon left." said Ronnie Anne.
"Sam can do it." said Lana. Lucy just sat there, silently. Back at Royal Woods.
"Poor Gastrodon." said Lori.
"We have to believe in Sam." said Harold McBride.
"You're right, Hare Bare." said Howard McBride.
"She can do it." said Lynn Jr. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Sam returns Gastrodon to its pokeball.
"You were rockin, Gastrodon." said Sam. She puts Gastrodon's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Stunfisk, go!" She throws Stunfisk's pokeball and releases her.
"Sam brings out a Stunfisk." said the announcer.
"Okay, Stunfisk, Metal Sound!" said Sam. Stunfisk lets out a yell and releases silver soundwaves that hits Mimikyu, weakening its defense.
"Mimikyu, Astonish." said Allister. Mimikyu leaps at Stunfisk.
"Iron Defense!" said Sam. Stunfisk's body shines and her defense increases before Mimikyu reaches her and makes a scary face at her, but not doing much damage due to her increased defense and not making her flinch. "Now use Metal Claw!" Stunfisk's fin turns into metal and she slashes Mimikyu with it, dealing massive super effective damage to it due to Mimikyu's defense being weakened by Metal Sound.
"Awesome; Mimikyu's part fairy, so steel type moves can deal major damage." said Lincoln.
"Shadow Sneak." said Allister. Mimikyu's shadow stretches out towards Stunfisk and strikes her, but not dealing much damage.
"Metal Claw one more time!" said Sam. Stunfisk slashes Mimikyu with a metal fin and knocks it out.
"Mimikyu is unable to battle; Stunfisk wins the match." said the official.
"Sam's Stunfisk has defeated Allister's Mimikyu; what will Allister do next?" asked the announcer.
"Way to go, Sam!" cheered Luna.
"You got this!" exclaimed Lola.
"Just two more, Sam!" said Lana. Back at Royal Woods.
"Sam did it; now she just has to beat two Pokemon and she'll win." said Lynn Sr.
"Allister doesn't stand a chance." said Lynn Jr.
"Let's not underestimate him; he did beat three of Lucy's Pokemon." said Lisa.
"Whatever." said Lynn Jr with a scoff. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Allister returns Mimikyu to its pokeball.
"You did well, Mimikyu." said Allister. He puts Mimikyu's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Cursola, go." He throws Cursola's pokeball and releases it. "Cursola, Hex." Cursola forms an orb of black energy with a red eye in the middle of it; dark blue rings of energy fires out of the eye and hits Stunfisk, dealing damage.
"Stunfisk, Muddy Water!" said Sam. Brown water is unleashed from underneath Stunfisk and washes over Cursola, damaging it. Cursola begins surging with energy and its defense weakens, but its speed increases from its Weak Armor ability.
"Cursola, Hex again." said Allister. Cursola forms another black orb of energy and fires more blue energy rings from its eye and it hits Stunfisk.
"Metal Claw!" said Sam. Stunfish jumps at Cursola while her fin turns into metal.
"Harden." said Allister. Cursola's body shines and its defense increases before Stunfisk slashes it, damaging it. Its Weak Armor ability activates and its defense weakens and its speed increases.
"Astonish." said Allister. Cursola jumps at Stunfish and makes a scary face at her; although it didn't do much damage, it still made Stunfisk flinch. "Hex." Cursola forms another black orb of energy with a red eye and fires blue energy rings out of it and it hits Stunfisk, knocking it out.
"Stunfisk is unable to battle; Cursola wins the match." said the official.
"Allister's Cursola has defeated Sam's Stunfisk; now both trainers are down to two Pokemon each." said the announcer. "What will Sam do next?"
"Don't give up, Sam!" said Luna.
"You can do it!" said Lana.
"We, totes, believe in you." said Leni. Back at Royal Woods.
"I told you not to underestimate Allister." said Lisa.
"We need to believe in Sam just like our kids and their friends probably are." said Lynn Sr. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Sam returns Stunfisk to her pokeball.
"You were rad out there, Stunfisk." said Sam. She puts Stunfisk's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Gourgeist, go!" She throws Gourgeist's pokeball and releases her.
"And Sam has brought out a Gourgeist; It's now a battle between two ghost type Pokemon." said the announcer.
"Gourgeist, use Shadow Sneak!" said Sam. Gourgeist's shadow stretches out towards Cursola and strikes it, dealing super effective damage.
"Cursola, Hex." said Allister. Cursola forms another black orb of energy and fires more blue energy rings from its eye and it hits Gourgeist, dealing super effective damage.
"Gourgeist, Astonish!" said Sam. Gourgeist floats over to Cursola and makes a scary face at it, dealing super effective damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Shadow Ball!" Gourgeist forms a ball of black and purple energy in front of her and she launches it at Cursola, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; Cursola falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Cursola is unable to battle; Gourgeist wins the match." said the official.
"Allister's Cursola has fallen to Sam's Gourgeist; now Allister only has one Pokemon left." said the announcer.
"Way to go, Sam!" said Luna.
"Just one Pokemon left." said Lana.
"Hope Gourgeist can handle Allister's Gengar." said Lincoln.
"I'm sure she can." said Luna. Lucy just sat there, silently with her hands clasped together. Back at Royal Woods.
"Yeah! Just one more Pokemon and Sam's got this." said Lynn Jr.
"Yes, but that Gengar of Allister's was really strong when it was Gigantamaxed." said Lisa.
"I hope Sam can handle it." said Rita. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Allister returns Cursola to its pokeball.
"You did well out there, Cursola." said Allister. He puts Cursola's pokeball away and pulls out another one while his eyes glowed purple, making Lucy smile. "Gengar, go." He throws Gengar's pokeball and releases it.
"Allister has brought out his Gengar; is he going to Gigantamax it?" asked the announcer. Allister then returns it to its pokeball and uses his Dynamax Band to make it bigger. He throws it and releases his Gengar, now Gigantamaxed. "I guess Allister answered my question by Gigantamaxing his Gengar."
"Gourgeist, Confuse Ray!" said Sam. Purple balls of light form around Gourgeist and she launches them at Gengar, hitting it. It begins to sway around, dizzily.
"And it looks like Gengar is confused." said the announcer.
"Gengar, Max Darkness." said Allister. Gengar fights through its confusion and releases streams of black energy from its hands; they hit Gourgeist, dealing super effective damage to her and knocking her out.
"Gourgeist is unable to battle; Gengar wins the match." said the official.
"And Allister's Gengar has beaten Sam's Gourgeist; now Sam has only one Pokemon left." said the announcer.
"Oh man; Sam's down to her last Pokemon." said Clyde.
"She can do it!" said Luna.
"You can do it, Sam!" said Lana. Back at Royal Woods.
"There goes another of Sam's Pokemon." said Lynn Jr.
"Now Sam is down to her last Pokemon." said Lori.
"Let's hope Sam can make a comeback." said Lynn Jr. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Sam returns Gourgeist to her pokeball.
"You were great, Gourgeist." said Sam. She puts Gourgeist's pokeball and pulls out another one. "Go, Meowstic!" She throws Meowstic's pokeball and releases her.
"And Sam's final Pokemon is a Meowstic." said the announcer. Sam returns Meowstic to her pokeball and uses her Dynamax Band to enlarge it; she then throws it, releasing a now Dynamaxed Meowstic.
"And Sam has Dynamaxed her Meowstic; it's Dynamaxed Pokemon vs Gigantimaxed Pokemon." said the announcer.
"Meowstic, use Max Mindstorm!" said Sam. Meowstic releases rings of psychic energy at Gengar, hitting it, and dealing massive super effective damage to it due to the Odd Incense Meowstic was holding powering up her psychic type attacks.
"Good thing Gengar is part poison, it's weak against psychic type moves." said Lincoln.
"Gengar, G-Max Terror." said Allister. Gengar fights through its confusion and summons furniture made of dark energy; they surround Meowstic and fly into her, hitting her and making an image of a Gigantamaxed Gengar appear below her that hits her with dark energy, doing super effective damage to her.
"Meowstic, Max Darkness!" said Sam. Meowstic releases streams of black energy from her hands and they hit Gengar, dealing super effective damage to it and weakening its special defense.
"Gengar, G-Max Terror." said Allister. Unfortunately, Gengar's confusion gets the best of it and ends up damaging itself.
"Max Mindstorm one more time!" said Sam. Meowstic unleashes more rings of psychic energy at Gengar, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage to it; Gengar returns to its regular size and collapses.
"Gengar is unable to battle; Meowstic wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Sam Sharp." said the official.
"She's done it; Sam's Meowstic has defeated Allister's Gengar and earning her the victory!" said the announcer.
"We did it, Meowstic!" cheered Sam. Meowstic returns to her regular size and Sam runs to her and hugs her. At the crowd, Lincoln, his sisters, Clyde, Ronnie Anne, and Sam were cheering, except Lucy.
"Sam did it!" said Luna.
"I knew she could do it!" said Ronnie Anne.
"That was so cool!" said Lana. Lincoln looks at Lucy who was looking down.
"You okay, Lucy?" asked Lincoln.
"Sigh; I guess. I should be happy for Sam for beating Allister." said Lucy. Everyone at Royal Woods was applauding for Sam also. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Allister returns Gengar to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Gengar." said Allister. He puts Gengar's pokeball and he and Sam walk to the center of the arena. "You raised your Pokemon well."
"Thanks, little dude." said Sam. Allister reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Ghost Badge.
"As a reward for your victory here, I reward you with the Ghost Badge." said Allister. He gives Sam the Ghost Badge, along with pokedollars. Later, at the lobby, Luna was hugging Sam.
"You were amazing, Sam." said Luna.
"Congratulations, Sam." said Clyde.
"We knew you could do it." said Lana. An official walks over to them.
"Which of you is next?" asked the official.
"I, totes, will." said Leni.
"Very well." said the official. "You may enter the test area when you're ready."
Lucy and Sam have just earned their Ghost Badges and now it's Leni's turn. Will she be able to defeat Allister?
