It was now December 24th—Christmas Eve morning. The house was quiet, with the gentle glow of holiday lights casting a cozy warmth over the living room. Everyone was still fast asleep after the festivities of the night before, except for the soft hum of the heater working against the chilly morning air.
The Blueberries, spending their full two-week vacation with David and Lily's family, had been thrilled when their parents agreed to the arrangement. They'd eagerly packed everything they thought they'd need: warm winter clothes, their favorite toys, and even a little Christmas tree ornament each, to add to the collection hanging on David and Lily's massive evergreen centerpiece.
Even in slumber, the house seemed alive with anticipation for the day ahead.
Mike and Angela lay under the sheets, their bodies warm and fully bare beneath the soft, cozy covers. They both sighed deeply, their breaths in sync as their eyes slowly fluttered open. The golden morning light streamed through the window, casting a serene glow in the room.
Mike turned his head slightly, smiling lazily at Angela. "Morning, beautiful."
Angela returned the smile, her cheeks softly flushed. "Morning... Merry Christmas Eve."
Mike chuckled quietly. "Can't believe it's here already."
They stayed nestled together for a few peaceful moments, enjoying the calm start to the day before the holiday excitement called them out of their cozy retreat.
"You know, I'm surprised each of our siblings let us do our thing in bed in the empty room," Angela murmured with a smirk, running her fingers lazily along Mike's chest.
"Yeah," Mike chuckled, turning to face her. "Normally, you'd think family members would go crazy on the couple for getting busy in another person's bed."
Angela giggled, resting her head on his shoulder. "Guess we lucked out. Christmas magic, maybe?"
"Either that, or they were too tired from yesterday to care," Mike replied, pulling her closer under the covers.
They both laughed softly, sharing a light, playful moment before the sound of distant chatter and tiny footsteps hinted that the rest of the house was beginning to stir. Their peaceful retreat wouldn't last much longer.
"Guess we better get decent before someone barges in," Angela teased, nudging him.
"Yeah, wouldn't want to traumatize anyone on Christmas Eve," Mike quipped with a grin.
They both slowly sat up, stretching beneath the warm covers. Angela reached for the edge of the bed, grabbing her Santa dress draped over a nearby chair. The dress was festive and flirty, made of soft red velvet with white faux fur trim along the neckline and hem. A black belt cinched the waist, and the short, flowing skirt added a playful holiday charm.
Slipping it on, she adjusted the straps and smoothed out the fabric. "This dress might scream Christmas, but at least it's comfy," Angela said with a grin, tying a small red ribbon at the back for a finishing touch.
Mike grabbed his clothes—a simple green sweater with a subtle Christmas tree design and dark jeans. "I gotta admit, Ange, you make that outfit look way better than the catalog picture," he teased, pulling his sweater over his head.
Angela twirled playfully, her dress swishing as she looked back at him with a smirk. "Well, somebody's gotta bring the holiday spirit. Let's see if your sweater holds up."
Mike laughed as he and her fiancee grabbed the bedsheets from the mattress, prepping to wash them after their heated passions.
Meanwhile, Dot was curled up in her bed, nestled beneath a cozy blanket adorned with festive snowflakes. The soft glow of a nightlight shaped like a Christmas star illuminated her peaceful face. Her tiny arms hugged a plush reindeer close to her chest, its red nose matching the holiday cheer of the room.
Dot stirred slightly, her antennae twitching as she shifted positions, but she remained blissfully asleep. Her dreams seemed to dance with the memories of snowball fights, warm cocoa, and the twinkling lights from the tree the night before.
Not far away, Daisy and Teeny were equally snug in their own beds, their wings tucked close as they lay surrounded by stuffed animals and holiday decorations. The peaceful quiet of the house wrapped around them like a comforting embrace, promising a magical start to Christmas Eve morning.
Mike and Angela quietly opened the door to Dot's room, careful not to make a sound so as not to wake her. They tiptoed inside, grinning as they approached her bed. Gently, they pulled the covers back, revealing her little feet tucked up under the blanket.
Angela's eyes twinkled with mischief. "I think we should give her a special wake-up," she whispered.
Mike chuckled softly, nodding in agreement. "She's going to love this."
With a playful smile, they both bent down and lightly tickled Dot's feet, knowing it would take only a few seconds before she would stir.
Mike and Angela quietly opened the door to Dot's room, both trying to suppress their grins. The soft light from the nightlight cast a gentle glow on Dot's sleeping form as she lay tucked under the covers, her little feet poking out from beneath.
Angela leaned in and whispered, "Ready for some fun?"
Mike nodded with a smirk. "Definitely."
They tiptoed closer to Dot's bed, both smiling mischievously. Mike reached down and gently tapped one of Dot's feet, causing her to shift slightly in her sleep. Angela waited, watching closely.
When Dot didn't wake up, they exchanged a look and, without a word, started gently tickling her feet. Dot's feet twitched at the sensation, but she still didn't wake up. Angela smiled, then joined in, adding more tickling around Dot's ankles.
A small giggle escaped Dot, and she stirred, her eyelids fluttering open. She blinked a few times in confusion as the tickling continued. Her mouth curled into a sleepy smile.
Mike and Angela kept going for a moment longer, enjoying the sight of Dot squirming under their light, playful touch.
"Time to wake up, Dot!" Mike said softly, still tickling her.
Dot burst out laughing, her small body wriggling as she tried to escape the tickles. "Stop, stop!" she giggled, but her efforts only made them tickle her more.
Finally, she couldn't take it anymore and sat up, still laughing. "Okay, okay! I'm awake!"
Angela leaned down, a big smile on her face. "Good morning, sleepyhead."
Mike chuckled, brushing a lock of hair from her face. "Merry Christmas Eve, Dot!"
Dot's eyes widened as the words sank in. "Christmas Eve?" she asked in awe, her sleepiness quickly turning into excitement. "It's almost Christmas?!"
Angela nodded, giving her a playful wink. "Yep, it's almost here!"
Dot beamed with excitement. "Yay! I'm ready for Christmas!"
The morning's magic had begun, and Dot was awake and eager for the day ahead.
Meanwhile, David and Lily were getting dressed in their bedroom, still shaking off the grogginess of the early morning. They had been fully unclothed from the previous night's intimate moments, and now Lily was rummaging through the closet with purpose.
"I know it's here somewhere," she muttered, her fingers combing through hangers.
David, already pulling on a festive red sweater, glanced over his shoulder. "Looking for the Santa dress?"
"Yeah," Lily replied, stepping back for a moment and scanning the racks. "I swear I hung it here after the last wash."
David smirked and teased, "Maybe Santa borrowed it."
Lily shot him a playful glare before continuing her search. "If Santa borrowed my dress, he better bring it back. Christmas Eve doesn't wait."
Finally, her hand brushed against the soft, velvety fabric, and she pulled out her bright red Santa dress with a triumphant grin. The dress was a classic design, made of rich red velvet with a white faux-fur trim at the hem, cuffs, and neckline. A thin black belt cinched the waist, completing the festive look.
"Found it!" she announced, holding it up for David to see.
He gave her an approving nod. "That's the one. You're gonna knock it out of the park with that."
Lily chuckled, slipping into the dress and fastening the belt. "Well, someone has to bring a little Santa spirit into the house, right?"
As she adjusted the fit, David walked over and wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "You do that just by being you, you know."
Lily smiled, leaning into him for a brief moment before stepping back. "Alright, let's finish up and check on the others. I have a feeling the kids are already bouncing off the walls."
David laughed. "Let's hope Mike and Angela are awake enough to keep up with them."
The couple finished getting ready, the festive energy of Christmas Eve already settling into the air.
"Alright. Time to wash off the bedsheet and cover," Lily said, gathering the linens from the bed with a slight grimace.
David chuckled, pulling the pillows off and tossing their cases into the growing pile. "Yeah, we really put these through the wringer last night. Might as well get it all freshened up before anyone notices."
Lily rolled her eyes playfully. "Or before we have to explain why the guest bed smells like that."
"Hey, at least it's Christmas Eve," David teased. "We've got enough distractions to keep anyone from investigating."
With the sheets bundled in Lily's arms, David grabbed the rest of the bedding and opened the door. "Laundry room or bust," he quipped.
"Right behind you," Lily said with a grin, following him out. As they headed to the laundry room, they couldn't help but chuckle at the shared mischief of their little secret cleanup mission.
Meanwhile, in the laundry room, Mike and Angela were busy stuffing their bedsheet and cover into the front-loading washer. Angela smoothed the fabric as Mike adjusted the settings.
"Alright, detergent's in. What cycle are we doing?" Mike asked, glancing at Angela.
"Definitely heavy-duty," Angela replied, wrinkling her nose. "We don't need any reminders lingering around here."
Mike snickered and pressed the button to start the wash. As the machine hummed to life, they both stepped back with a satisfied nod.
In the living room, Dot sat cross-legged on the couch, completely engrossed in the cartoons flickering on the TV. Thanks to all her practice during previous visits, she expertly navigated the remote like a pro, switching between her favorite channels.
Angela peeked into the living room and grinned. "Looks like Dot's got the hang of the remote."
Mike chuckled as they walked toward the couch. "Yeah, next thing you know, she'll be programming the DVR for us."
Dot didn't even look up, her focus glued to the screen. "I already know how to do that," she quipped, earning a surprised laugh from the two adults.
"Morning, little bro and future sis," David greeted, stepping into the laundry room with a pile of his own bedsheets in hand.
"And Dot," Lily chimed in as she followed behind, giving the freckled ant a light pat on the head. Dot giggled and smiled up at her.
"Sorry, man, washer's occupied," Mike quipped with a playful shrug.
David smirked knowingly. "Sounds like you and Angela had a fun night too."
Angela raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms with a grin. "And what about you two? Don't act like your bed was squeaky clean this morning."
Lily's cheeks flushed a little as she rolled her eyes. "Okay, fair point. Let's just say we're all on equal ground here."
Dot tilted her head innocently. "What's so funny?"
The adults exchanged amused glances before Angela crouched beside her. "Oh, nothing you need to worry about, Dot. Just grown-up stuff."
Dot shrugged and went back to her cartoons, leaving the adults stifling laughter as they waited for the washer to finish its cycle.
"Alright. Breakfast!" Mike declared with enthusiasm, clapping his hands together as he turned toward the kitchen.
Dot perked up from the couch. "Ooh, what's for breakfast?" she asked, hopping down and hurrying after him.
Angela smiled, following behind. "How about we whip up something everyone loves? Pancakes, eggs, and bacon sound good?"
"Yes!" Dot cheered, practically bouncing.
David chuckled, setting his laundry aside. "Count us in. I'll handle the bacon."
"And I'll do the eggs," Lily added. "Sis, you and Mike can tackle the pancakes."
"Deal," Angela agreed with a grin. "Let's get cooking!"
The kitchen quickly came alive with activity: the sizzle of bacon on the stove, the crack of eggs into a bowl, and the sweet aroma of pancake batter hitting the griddle. Dot set the table with utensils and napkins, humming happily to herself.
By the time the food was ready, everyone was seated, enjoying a delicious spread and laughing over shared stories from the night before. It was the perfect start to Christmas Eve morning.
The rest of the girls, along with Emily, emerged from the hallway, rubbing their eyes and yawning. Emily clutched her favorite stuffed animal as she shuffled into the kitchen, her hair a little messy from sleep.
"What smells so good?" Daisy asked, her voice still groggy.
"Breakfast!" Dot chirped, waving her over. "Come on, it's pancakes and bacon!"
Emily's eyes lit up at the mention of her favorite meal. "Pancakes?! Yay!" she squealed, hopping a little as she hurried to the table.
Teeny sniffed the air, her antennae perking up. "Yay! I love pancakes!"
Angela chuckled, setting a fresh stack of golden-brown pancakes onto the table. "Then grab a seat, girls. We've got plenty for everyone."
Mike added with a grin, "And don't forget the syrup!"
The girls climbed up onto their seats, with Emily quickly grabbing a spot between Dot and Teeny. Their energy returned as they dug into the delicious spread. The sound of clinking plates, cheerful chatter, and little giggles filled the room, making for a warm and happy start to Christmas Eve morning.
"So, as you kiddos know, Christmas is just around the corner," Lily announced with a smile. "And of course, Em, you know who's gonna come on Christmas Day, don't you?"
Emily's face lit up as she wriggled excitedly in her chair. "Santa Claus!" she squealed, clapping her tiny hands together.
"That's right," Lily said warmly. "And you've been such a good girl all year, haven't you?"
Emily nodded enthusiastically. "Uh-huh! I even helped clean up my toys!"
Dot perked up, tilting her head in curiosity. "Is Santa really gonna come all the way here? How does he know where we are?"
Mike chuckled as he reached for the butter. "Oh, Santa's got a pretty impressive tracking system. He knows exactly where every good kid is, no matter where they're staying."
Teeny scrunched her face in thought. "But what if there's no chimney? How does he get in?"
Angela leaned on the counter, smirking. "He's got tricks for that. If there's no chimney, he might use a door—or even a window if he needs to."
Emily giggled, clutching her fork like it was a magic wand. "Santa can do anything!"
Lily smiled as she nudged Emily's plate closer. "Exactly, sweetheart. Now let's finish up breakfast, everyone. We've got a lot to do before Santa makes his big trip tomorrow!"
"Like what?" Daisy asked, her antennae twitching with curiosity.
"Well, there's the food," David replied, gesturing toward the kitchen. "We need to prep the cookies for Santa, of course. And we've gotta get the ham ready for tomorrow's dinner."
"And don't forget the stockings," Lily added. "We've still got to hang those up properly. Plus, we could add a little sparkle around the fireplace and set up a cozy spot for Santa's treats."
Dot's eyes lit up. "We get to help with Santa's cookies and stockings?"
"Of course!" Angela said with a smile. "You three can help place the stockings just right. And then we'll all work on making the cookies—Santa loves extra sprinkles, you know."
Teeny clapped her hands. "Sprinkles! Lots of sprinkles!"
"And," Mike chimed in, "we'll wrap some presents after that. No peeking, though—especially you, Emily."
The little girl puffed her cheeks. "I wouldn't peek!"
Everyone laughed, and Angela leaned in. "You'd better not, or Santa might leave you coal!"
Daisy giggled. "Okay, so we hang stockings, bake cookies, and wrap presents. Anything else?"
David smirked. "How about a Christmas movie later? We could all snuggle up with hot cocoa and watch something festive."
"Yes!" Emily and the Blueberries cheered, bouncing with excitement.
While Lily was cooking the ham, Mike, Angela, and David were showing the girls the propane grill David and Lily had for a while, which was equipped with stainless steel burners, a warming rack, and a side burner for extra cooking space. The lid had a built-in thermometer, and the knobs lit up with a blue glow when turned on.
"This bad boy's been with us for years," David said proudly, patting the lid. "We usually fire it up for barbecues, but sometimes, we use it for holiday cooking, too."
"Ooh," Dot marveled, running her tiny hands along the smooth metal. "It's so shiny!"
"It sure is," Mike chuckled. "And it gets really hot, so you girls gotta be careful around it."
Teeny peeked at the knobs. "What do these do?"
Angela crouched beside her. "These control the flames. Turn them up, and the fire gets bigger. Turn them down, and it gets smaller."
Daisy tilted her head. "So, can we cook something on it?"
David grinned. "Not today, kiddo. But maybe next time, we'll let you help grill some burgers."
The girls beamed with excitement as the adults closed the grill lid. "Alright," Mike said, stretching. "Let's check on that ham before we get started on the cookies."
"Oh-oh, wait-wait-wait!" David hurriedly interjected, crouching down and opening the doors to the propane grill, showing the Blue Rhino tank with its flame-horned logo.
"Ooh, what's that?" Dot asked, her eyes wide as she leaned in for a closer look.
"That's the propane tank," David explained. "It powers the grill. Without it, we wouldn't be able to cook anything on here." He pointed to the label. "See, this one's from Blue Rhino. Pretty neat, right?"
Teeny giggled. "The rhino has fire!"
"That's right," Mike added. "It's a pretty cool design, but remember, it's not a toy. It's serious stuff, so only adults should be messing with it."
"Like you!" Daisy said, pointing to Mike.
"Exactly," Mike grinned. "So, now that the grill's all set up and ready, let's go back inside. We've got some Christmas cookies to make!"
The girls bounced with excitement as they followed the adults inside.
Lily was already setting out bowls of flour, sugar, butter, and eggs on the counter. "Okay, girls, it's time to make the dough from scratch. Are you ready for this?"
The Blueberries cheered, clapping their hands. "Yes!"
Mike chuckled. "Alright, then. Let's get started. We're gonna make sugar cookies to decorate. We need to start by mixing the dry ingredients first."
Angela pulled out a big mixing bowl and handed it to Lily. "I've got the eggs. Who wants to help crack them?"
Teeny jumped up and down. "Me! I wanna crack the eggs!"
"Okay, Teeny. You're on egg duty," Angela said with a smile.
Dot grabbed the flour bag, "I'll pour this in!"
"And I'll mix it all up!" Emily declared, holding a spoon ready.
The adults chuckled as they worked together with the girls, creating the dough step by step. The excitement for cookie-making filled the kitchen, and soon, the dough was ready to be rolled out and shaped into festive designs.
After the dough was made, it was carefully placed on separate parchment-lined baking sheets. Mike then held up the spoon with a playful grin.
"Alright, who wants a taste?"
"Me! Me! Me! Me!" the girls clamored, bouncing excitedly.
Angela chuckled. "Alright, one at a time. We've got plenty to go around."
Mike scooped up a little dough and held it out as the Blueberries eagerly took turns tasting, their eyes lighting up with delight.
"Mmm! It's so good!" Dot squealed, licking her lips.
"Tastes like Christmas already!" Daisy added with a giggle.
Teeny clapped her hands. "Can we eat all of it now?"
David laughed. "Nice try, kiddo. If we did that, there'd be no cookies to bake!"
Lily smiled as she opened the oven door. "Speaking of which, it's time to get these in. Let's get baking!"
After a while of cooking, Mike and Angela decided to pass the time by playing with the Blueberries. Mike had Dot clutched in his arm as he tickled her, making her shriek with laughter, her tiny limbs flailing as she gasped between uncontrollable giggles.
"N-nohoho! Mike, plehehease!" she cried, squirming helplessly.
"Not a chance, Dotty!" Mike teased, grinning as he kept going, his fingers expertly finding her most ticklish spots.
Meanwhile, Angela had Teeny and Daisy pinned to the floor, her fingers dancing over their tummies as they burst into fits of high-pitched giggles.
"AHAHA! A-Angelaha, nohohoho mohohore!" Daisy pleaded, her laughter echoing through the room.
Teeny's squeals mixed in, her legs kicking wildly. "Toohoho much tiiihickling!" she shrieked, barely able to breathe between her giggles.
Angela smirked playfully. "Hmm... I dunno, you two look like you're having fun."
"WE GIHIHIVE!" they both cried, their tiny bodies trembling with laughter.
Dot, still trapped in Mike's grasp, tried to catch her breath between giggles. "Y-you too, Mike!"
Mike and Angela exchanged amused glances before finally relenting, letting the girls collapse onto the floor, breathless but still giggling.
"That... was... so fun," Teeny panted, a few more giggles slipping out.
Dot wiped away a tear of laughter, her smile wide. "Best game ever!"
Mike chuckled. "Glad you think so, kiddo."
Angela grinned. "Alright, you little giggle machines. Let's check on those cookies before you laugh yourselves silly again."
Once the cookies were done, the kids looked at them with awe. "Ooooh!" they all said in unison, their eyes wide as they gazed at the freshly baked treats.
The cookies, golden and perfectly round, filled the kitchen with a mouthwatering aroma. Some were decorated with colorful sprinkles, while others had a touch of icing, making them look even more tempting.
Emily's little hands practically bounced with excitement as she tugged on Angela's sleeve. "Can I have one? Pleeease!" she begged, her face lighting up with her best puppy dog eyes.
Teeny, Dot, and Daisy nodded enthusiastically, all of them bouncing in place as they shared their eagerness to taste the sweet rewards of their hard work.
"Wait, wait!" Mike said with a chuckle, holding up his hands. "We've gotta let them cool first before you can decorate them, okay?"
The girls groaned in disappointment but understood. Dot crossed her arms and huffed dramatically, "But they look so yummy!"
"They'll taste even better once they cool off, I promise," Angela said with a smile. "We want the icing to stick, right?"
Emily nodded, though she was still staring at the cookies longingly. "Okay, but can we decorate them now?" she asked, her voice full of anticipation.
Lily smiled as she watched the little ones bounce on their feet. "Patience, kiddos. We'll get there in just a minute."
David grinned at their impatience. "You girls are gonna make some masterpieces with those cookies when they're ready."
Mike winked and gave a playful shrug. "In a little bit. Let's give it five minutes, alright?"
The kids fidgeted, their impatience growing, but they waited. Dot and Teeny kept peeking at the cookies on the counter, bouncing in place as they counted down the seconds in their heads.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Mike checked the cookies. "Alright, time's up! You ready to decorate?"
The girls cheered and rushed over to the table, where bowls of colorful icing and sprinkles were waiting. David laughed and gestured to the supplies. "Alright, team! You ready to make these cookies super festive?"
"Yeah!" the Blueberries all shouted together.
Lily handed them icing bags and bowls of sprinkles. "Let's get to work, then!"
Mike smiled as the chaos of creative cookie decorating began. The kids were having a blast, mixing colors and making their cookies as bright and fun as they could. Dot and Teeny were competing to see who could make the funniest designs, while Emily carefully applied the icing like a pro.
David chuckled and leaned over to Angela. "This is gonna be one colorful batch of cookies."
Angela grinned. "That's the spirit of Christmas, right?"
The laughter and chatter filled the room as everyone—adults and kids alike—enjoyed their time together decorating cookies. The holiday magic was in full swing.
Everyone had a share of decorated cookies, leaving just enough for the circus bugs when they came over and, of course, for Santa.
"Mmm!" Dot exclaimed, her eyes lighting up as she took another bite of her colorful creation.
Angela leaned back, wiping her hands on a napkin. "Can't believe we cooked this early for tonight," she said with a smile. "Feels like we just started this morning, and now we're almost ready for the big night."
"Yep," Mike added, looking around at the kids happily munching on their cookies. "But we're ready. Christmas Eve traditions are in full swing."
David leaned back in his chair, his gaze shifting to the decorated cookies on the table. "And don't forget—Santa's gonna love these."
Teeny gave a dramatic nod, grinning. "Santa's gonna have the best cookies ever!"
The group laughed, the holiday cheer filling the room. Everyone was in a festive mood, eagerly anticipating the evening's festivities and the magic of Christmas.
Later, the adults gathered around with the girls, all set to make gingerbread houses. The table was covered in frosting, candy, and colorful sprinkles, ready for decorating. Mike and Angela helped Dot carefully place a candy cane on her house, while David and Lily guided Teeny and Daisy, making sure they didn't eat all the candy before finishing the project.
"Okay, girls," Angela said with a grin, holding up a bag of frosting, "let's make sure we have some fun with this. But remember, this is for the house, not for your tummies just yet!"
The girls giggled as they squeezed frosting onto their gingerbread pieces, adding gumdrops and icing with excitement. Dot's little hands were a blur of activity as she carefully pressed a candy on her house's roof.
Teeny and Daisy were more interested in decorating the sides with as many sprinkles as possible.
"I think our gingerbread houses are going to look amazing!" Lily said with pride as she helped Emily with the final touches on her creation. The laughter and chatter filled the room as the girls enjoyed every moment, their houses becoming colorful masterpieces.
"Alright, are you ready to see them?" Mike asked as they all took a step back.
"Ta-da!" the girls cheered in unison, showing off their decorated houses, beaming with pride.
The adults couldn't help but smile, impressed by the creativity and enthusiasm the girls put into their gingerbread houses. "These will be the best ones ever!" David said, looking at the sugary masterpieces.
Angela chuckled. "I think Santa's going to have a hard time deciding which one to eat first!"
Next, Mike and Angela were in the basement, surrounded by piles of colorful wrapping paper, shiny ribbons, and gift tags. The room was filled with the rustling sound of wrapping paper as they worked together, making sure every gift was carefully wrapped.
"I can't believe Christmas is almost here," Mike said, carefully folding the edge of the paper over a box. "It feels like just yesterday we were decorating the tree."
Angela smiled, adjusting a bow on one of the gifts. "I know. And we still have a few more things to do before the big day. But at least we're getting the presents all set for everyone."
She handed Mike another box, and he began wrapping it, his hands moving swiftly. "So, we're good for the circus bugs, the Blueberries, and of course, Emily?" he asked.
"Yup," Angela replied, tying a ribbon with a flourish. "Everything's ready for them. I even got a little something for you."
Mike raised an eyebrow, looking at her with a playful grin. "Oh? You didn't have to get me anything. I've already got the best present right here," he said, gesturing to her.
Angela laughed, leaning over to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. "You're sweet. But trust me, you're going to love it."
The two continued wrapping, the basement echoing with their laughter and the occasional "Got it!" or "Almost done!" as they completed each present. The task felt much more fun with each other's company, and before long, they had a neat pile of wrapped gifts ready to go.
"Looks like we're almost done," Mike said, admiring the stack of gifts. "Now we just need to get them under the tree."
Angela looked at the pile and smiled, happy with the progress they had made. "And then we get to enjoy Christmas morning with everyone. I can't wait."
David and Lily were busy in their own part of the house, sitting at the kitchen table with each of the Blueberries and Emily. The table was cluttered with wrapping paper, scissors, tape, and colorful ribbons. Everyone was focused on their own task, carefully wrapping gifts for family and friends.
"Alright, Dot," David said, guiding her hands as she attempted to fold a piece of paper around her present. "Make sure you press down the edges like this. It'll look so much better."
Dot nodded eagerly, her tiny hands trying to mimic David's movements. "Like this?" she asked, tilting her head in concentration.
"Exactly!" David smiled, impressed with her determination. "You're a natural."
Meanwhile, Lily was helping Emily with a sparkly sheet of paper. "Okay, sweetie, now we're going to wrap it like this, and then we'll add a big bow on top, okay?" Lily said softly, guiding Emily's hands.
Emily beamed. "I can do it! I can do it!"
"I'm sure you can," Lily encouraged, smiling as Emily carefully tried to tape the edges down. "Let's just make sure it's secure before we put the bow on."
The Blueberries were also getting into the wrapping fun, their tiny hands struggling to handle the larger sheets of paper, but they were determined to help. Teeny held up a gift with one hand while trying to tape the other side, giggling as the paper crinkled under her touch.
Daisy, always the more methodical one, was carefully cutting strips of paper and arranging them like she was decorating a gift. "It looks so pretty, doesn't it?" she asked, her eyes shining with pride.
"You're doing great, Daisy!" Lily cheered as she helped Emily with her gift.
Everyone worked together, the room full of laughter, small "oops" moments, and the sound of tape being ripped and paper crinkling. Though the wrapping process was a bit messy, everyone's faces were filled with joy and excitement.
"Alright, looks like we're ready for the next batch of presents," David said, glancing at the pile of wrapped gifts. "Great job, everyone! We're going to have the best Christmas ever!"
Lily nodded, smiling at the kids. "You're all so helpful. I think Santa will be proud of all your hard work!"
When the clock struck 6:30, the group was comfortably watching Wheel of Fortune when a knock came at the door. David hopped up with a grin, knowing exactly who it was. As he swung the door open, the chilly evening air swept in, along with the familiar faces of the circus bugs.
"Merry Christmas Eve, friends!" Manny greeted warmly, fluttering inside with Gypsy by his side.
"Merry Christmas Eve!" everyone chimed back as the room erupted into a flurry of excited voices.
The Blueberries rushed forward, squealing in delight as they tackled Francis with hugs. "Francis! Francis! You're here!" Dot cheered.
"Whoa! Easy, ladies! I only got so much strength," Francis chuckled, pretending to wobble under their embrace.
Rosie playfully elbowed him. "You act like they don't do this *every* time we visit."
Dim let out a deep, happy sigh as he lumbered inside, giving a gentle nuzzle to Emily, who giggled and hugged his horn nose.
Slim stretched dramatically as he entered. "Ahh, nothing like good company on Christmas Eve. And warmth! It's freezing out there!"
David laughed, shutting the door behind them. "Well, come on in and make yourselves comfortable. We've got cookies, hot cocoa, and a night full of Christmas fun ahead!"
"Don't forget presents!" Heimlich added eagerly, patting his belly with glee.
"Yeah, yeah, we know what you're most excited for," Mike teased.
The bugs and humans all settled in, exchanging hugs and friendly banter, the house now buzzing with festive energy. It was officially Christmas Eve, and the night was just getting started.
"Who wants Christmas ham?" Lily called out, stepping into the living room with a grin. The scent of the perfectly glazed ham filled the air, making everyone's mouths water.
"Ooooh, me, me, me!" Heimlich was the first to respond, practically bouncing in excitement. "I have been waiting all day for this moment!"
The Blueberries giggled, their antennae twitching eagerly. "We do too!" Dot chimed in, her eyes shining.
"Well, you're in luck," David said as he stood. "We made plenty, and there's all the sides to go with it."
"Then let's eat!" Angela declared, leading the way as everyone eagerly followed, their Christmas Eve feast about to begin.
As they sat together, enjoying their Christmas Eve feast while watching Wheel of Fortune, the room was filled with laughter and conversation. Suddenly, all eyes locked onto the screen as a contestant with the Million Dollar wedge gave the wheel a mighty spin.
Everyone leaned in, watching as the wheel slowed down, the ominous "Bankrupt" space inching closer.
"Stop, stop, stop!" Francis shouted, gripping the edge of the table.
The wheel hesitated for a second—then clicked one last time.
"Aaaaagh!" Mike groaned dramatically, throwing his head back and covering his face.
"No! No!" David echoed, pausing between each word for effect.
"Dammit...!" Angela sighed, shaking her head.
"Nooo, not the million dollars!" Dot wailed, throwing up her tiny arms.
A moment of stunned silence passed before Heimlich spoke up between bites of ham. "Ooooh, that is most unfortunate... but does that mean more food for me?"
Laughter erupted around the table, easing the heartbreak of the unlucky contestant as they continued enjoying their meal.
"You are very insensitive when it comes to moments like this and food," Rosie said, giving Heimlich a side-eye.
Heimlich, with his usual cheerful demeanor, grinned. "Hey, when there's food, everything else just doesn't matter as much!"
The group laughed, and even though the million-dollar wedge was long gone, the mood was light, filled with the warmth of good company and delicious food.
"Well, at least we're not bankrupt," Lily teased, nudging David with a playful grin.
David chuckled, raising his glass in a toast. "To family, food, and no bankruptcy!"
Everyone clinked their glasses together, their laughter echoing through the room as the Wheel of Fortune continued spinning on the screen.

After the meal, with the last crumbs of Christmas ham cleared away and everyone feeling pleasantly stuffed, the group settled in front of the TV to relax. It was 7 now, and they were watching a recorded episode of Two and a Half Men—specifically the holiday-themed "Santa's Village of the Damned."
The atmosphere was cozy as everyone munched on the freshly baked Christmas cookies the girls had decorated earlier. The colorful icing and sprinkles made them even more irresistible, and the sweet smell filled the room.
"These cookies are almost too pretty to eat," Mike remarked, popping a bite into his mouth.
"But they taste even better!" Angela replied, smiling as she licked a bit of icing off her finger. "The kids did an amazing job decorating them."
Dot, sitting between Mike and Angela, giggled with delight as she nibbled on her own cookie. "I made the reindeer one!" she exclaimed proudly.
Teeny chimed in, her mouth full, "I did the snowman!"
"That's a great snowman, sweetie," David said from across the room, his voice warm and appreciative as he admired their creative work. "You guys are little artists."
The Blueberries and Emily all sat together, eyes glued to the TV, while their faces were lit up by the twinkling tree lights and the soft glow of the TV screen.
As the episode played on, everyone laughed along, the holiday cheer growing stronger with each passing minute. But even with the laughter, there was a sense of calmness, a quiet contentment shared between family and friends. The cookies they'd made together were a symbol of their teamwork and creativity, and there was still more joy to come—especially with Santa's visit just hours away.
"So, after the show, we should leave some cookies out for Santa, right?" Emily asked, her wide eyes filled with excitement and a hint of mischief.
"Of course," Angela said, with a playful wink. "We'll save the best ones for him."
The sound of laughter filled the room once again, the warmth of the moment perfect for the holiday season.
By the time it was bedtime for the girls, the house was now quiet, with cookies and milk left out in the living room. Angela was tucking Dot into her bed, pulling the covers snugly over the sleepy freckled ant.
"You excited for tomorrow?" Angela asked with a soft smile.
Dot gave a tired nod. "Mmhmm… Santa's coming… and presents..." she murmured.
Angela chuckled. "That's right. But you better get some sleep, or he might just fly right past us."
Dot giggled sleepily. "Okay… Night, Angela..."
"Goodnight, Dot," Angela whispered, giving her a gentle kiss on the head before stepping out.
Meanwhile, Lily and David were tucking Emily into her bed. The little girl hugged her stuffed reindeer tightly, her eyes drooping.
"Santa's gonna love the cookies, right?" she mumbled.
Lily smiled. "Of course he will, sweetie."
David smirked. "And if you're asleep nice and fast, maybe he'll leave you something extra special."
Emily grinned sleepily. "Okay… Night, Mommy. Night, Daddy..."
"Goodnight, baby girl," they both said softly before slipping out and leaving her door slightly open.
Mike had just finished tucking Daisy in and was now gently pulling the covers over Teeny. The little ant blinked sleepily up at him, her antennae twitching slightly.
"All comfy?" he asked with a small grin.
Teeny nodded sleepily. "Mhm... Mike?"
"Yeah, kiddo?"
"You think Santa's gonna like our cookies?" she mumbled, her antennae twitching slightly as she fought to keep her eyes open.
Mike chuckled. "Oh, for sure. You girls did an awesome job decorating them. He's gonna love 'em."
A tiny smile spread on Teeny's face. "Good... night, Mike..."
"Night, Teeny," he said softly, gently patting her head before standing up and quietly leaving the room.
Angela stretched, looking over at the others. "Well, time for us to turn in as well," she said with a yawn.
David rubbed his eyes and nodded. "It's been a long but good day."
Lily smiled. "It's the best kind of tired, though. Christmas Eve... you can't beat this."
Mike chuckled. "Couldn't agree more. But definitely time to recharge for tomorrow."
The adults moved toward their bedrooms, the warmth of the night lingering as the house fell into a peaceful silence.
