Leni vs Hop
At the lobby of the Circhester Stadium, Lincoln and the rest of the group were putting on their winter attire before leaving.
"Two more; just two more badges and we'll be able to compete in the Galar League." said Lincoln.
"And if by some chance I don't win there, it doesn't matter." said Lola as he throws back her hair. "I already have a future in the Galar Region as the next Ballonlea gym leader."
"So, where's the next gym at?" asked Lana. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and looks at the map app.
"According to this, the next gym is at Spikemuth." said Lincoln. "We just have to go south of Circhester through Route 9 and we should get there."
"Isn't the gym leader there the no show at the ceremony at Motostoke Stadium?" asked Luna.
"Yeah; Piers I think his name was." said Clyde.
"What do you think he's like?" asked Sam.
"Guess we'll find out when we get there." said Lincoln. After they finished putting on their winter attire, they exited Motostoke Stadium. Once outside, they saw that Sonia was waiting for them.
"Hey, it's Sonia." said Leni. The group walked over to Sonia.
"Those battles of yours were brilliant." said Sonia. "That gym leader was tough, but you had no trouble."
"Thanks, Sonia." said Lincoln.
"You know, Circhester has some great restaurants." said Sonia.
"Yeah; we've been to 'Bob's your Uncle'." said Ronnie Anne.
"I got some things to talk to you about; so, lets head there to celebrate your wins." said Sonia.
"Sound good; all that battling builds up an appetite." said Lucy from behind Sonia, scaring her.
"But let's drop our Pokemon off at the Pokemon Center first." said Clyde.
"Good idea." said Lincoln. The group walks to the Circhester Pokemon Center; after dropping off their Pokemon to the nurse, they went to Bob's your Uncle. Once inside, they see Sonia talking to Hop.
"Hey, Hop." said Lincoln, getting Hop's attention.
"Hey, guys; saw your gym battles." said Hop. "Congrats on winning your badges."
"Thanks." replied Lincoln.
"So, what have you been up to, Sonia?" asked Leni.
"I've been trying to find out more about the Darkest Day and the sword and shield Pokemon, but still no luck." replied Sonia as she turned around; she sees a part of a tapestry on a wall of the restaurant that had the two men exactly like the ones in the tapestries in the vault of Hammerlocke. Each man was holding a candle; behind them were two tombstones; one had a sword on it and the other had a shield on it.
"Wait,hold on!" exclaimed Sonia; she runs over to the tapestry. "No way! What's this?!"
"Is that another tapestry?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes; but why do the heroes on this tapestry look sad?" asked Sonia, noticing the sad expressions on the two heroes on the tapestry. "And where are the sword and shield?"
"Beats us." replied Lana.
"What's the meaning of this picture?" asked Sonia.
"Not sure." replied Ronnie Anne.
"Maybe the sword and shield were sealed away, or maybe they've gone into some kind of sleep."
"Based on those statues back on Stow-on-Side, the sword and shield were actually two Pokemon, right?" asked Clyde.
"That's right; that's my take on it, at least." said Sonia. "Come on, lets get something to eat."
"Sure." said Luna. After an hour, they finished eating their meals; they began walking to the door of the restaurant.
"You know, we should have a look around Circhester." said Sonia. "Let's inspect the Hero's Bath."
"Are you talking about that hot spring here in Circhester?" asked Lola.
"Exactly." replied Sonia. Lincoln and the group, along with Sonia and Hop exited the restaurant; moments later, they arrived at the Hero's Bath.
"I wouldn't mind having a soak in that." said Lola.
"Totes." said Leni.
"They say this is where the two heroes came to soothe their wounds after the battle to bring down that evil presence, long ago." said Sonia. "Nowadays, only Pokemon really use the Hero's Bath, though, who exactly were the heroes who bathed here? I think I'll have to look into that."
"Hey, guys." Hop says to Lincoln and his friends and family.
"Yeah, Hop?" Lincoln replied.
"Maybe one of you can battle me." said Hop. "I've been working on some new strategies, and I want to try them out."
"I'll, like, battle you, Hop." said Leni.
"Thanks, Leni." said Hop.
"Let's get our Pokemon back from the Pokemon Center first." said Clyde.
"Yeah, Leni can't battle without her Pokemon." said Lola.
After the group get their Pokemon back, they return to the Hero's Bath area. Everyone not involved in the battle spreads out to give Leni and Hop some room to battle with.
"How many Pokemon are we using?" asked Leni.
"Five each." said Hop.
"Okay." Leni replied. Hop takes a pokeball off his waist and throws it, letting out a sheeplike Pokemon with a thick coat of white wool with black spots, a ring of gray wool around its neck, and two long horns curving over its back.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Dubwool, the Sheep Pokemon, and the evolved form of Wooloo. Its majestic horns are meant only to impress the opposite gender. They never see use in battle." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Looks like Hop's Wooloo evolved." said Lana.
"It's so fluffy!" said Lola. Leni takes a pokeball off her waist and throws it, releasing her Ninetales.
"Ninetales, use Quick Attack!" said Leni. Ninetales runs at Hop's Dubwool and rams it, but for some reason, it didn't look like it did a lot of damage.
"Dubwool has the Fluffy ability." said Hop. "It makes him resistant to moves that require physical contact."
"That would be helpful against fighting types since normal types are vulnerable to those kinds of moves." said Lincoln.
"Dubwool, use Headbutt!" said Hop. Dubwool runs at Ninetales and rams her in the side.
"Ninetales, use Flamethrower!" said Leni. Ninetales fires a stream of fire at Dubwool, doing more damage than it should've.
"Yeah, Fluffy makes Dubwool more vulnerable to fire." said Hop.
"I suppose wearing a thick sweater would make someone more affected by heat." said Clyde.
"Dubwool, use Take Down!" said Hop. Dubwool charges at Ninetales and rams her side, knocking her down, and hurting himself from Take Down's recoil damage; Ninetales struggles to her feet.
"Ninetales, use Incinerate!" said Leni. Ninetales launches a fireball at Dubwool, hitting him, and knocking him out.
"Nice one, Leni!" said Lana. Hop sulks before returning his Dubwool to his pokeball.
"You did your best, Dubwool." said Hop. He puts Dubwool's pokeball away and pulls another one off his waist; he tosses it, releasing a Corviknight.
"Hop's Corvisquire evolved." said Clyde.
"Ninetales, use Flamethrower!" said Leni. Ninetales fires a stream of fire at Hop's Corvisquire, hitting it, and deals super effective damage.
"Corviknight's part steel, so fire type moves are effective." said Lincoln.
"Corviknight, use Drill Peck!" said Hop. Corviknight spirals towards Ninetales and jabs her in the side with its beak, doing enough damage to knock her out.
"Ninetales!" said Leni.
"Don't worry, Leni." said Lola. "You can still win." Leni returns her Ninetales to her pokeball.
"You were, totes, great, Ninetales." said Leni. She puts the pokeball back on her waist and pulls another one off; she tosses it, releasing her Glaceon. "Use Baby-Doll Eyes!" Her Glaceon looks at Corviknight with innocent-looking eyes, making it awkward and lowers its attack strength.
"Corviknight, use Steel Wing!" said Hop. Corviknight slashes at Glaceon with one of its wings, hitting her, and dealing super effective damage.
"Glaceon, use Ice Fang!" said Leni. Glaceon runs at the Corviknight as her teeth become covered in icy energy and bites down on it, dealing damage; Corviknight's body becomes frozen.
"Corviknight, use Steel Wing again!" said Hop, but Corviknight couldn't move in its icy prison.
"Glaceon, use Freeze-Dry!" said Leni. Glaceon releases a blast of dry icy wind from her mouth that hits Corviknight, shattering the ice it was covered in, and knocks it out.
"Nice one, sis!" said Luna. Hop returns his Corviknight to its pokeball.
"You were awesome." said Hop. He puts Corviknight's pokeball away and pulls another one off his waist; he tosses it, releasing a Pinurchin.
"Glaceon, use Quick Attack!" said Leni. Glaceon moves quickly at Pinurchin and rams it, knocking it back.
"Pinurchin, use Charge!" said Hop. His Pinurchin starts gathering energy into its body, strengthening his special defense.
"Glaceon, use Ice Fang!" said Leni. Glaceon bites down on Pinurchin with ice-coated teeth, dealing damage.
"Pinurchin, use Spark!" said Hop. His Pinurchin leaps at Glaceon while its body was coated in super-charged electrciity and rams her, knocking Glaceon to the ground; she struggles to her feet.
"Hop's gotten stronger." said Clyde.
"Glaceon, use Freeze-Dry!" said Leni. Glaceon hits Pinurchin with a blast of cold dry air that does enough damage to knock it out.
"Way to go, Leni!" said Lana. Hop returns his Pinurchin to its pokeball.
"You did your best, buddy." said Hop. He puts Pinurchin's pokeball away and pulls another one off his waist; he tosses it, releasing his Snorlax.
"Glaceon, use Ice Fang!" said Leni. Glaceon bites down on Snorlax with ice-coated teeth, but the attack doesn't seem to do much damage to it.
"My Snorlax's ability is Thick Fat." said Hop. "Ice and fire type moves do half the damage they normally would; Snorlax, use Heavy Slam!" Snorlax jumps up and comes down with all its weight onto Glaceon, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"That was brutal." said Sam.
"Yeah." said Luna. Leni returns her Glaceon to her pokeball.
"You were, totes, great." said Leni. She puts Glaceon's pokeball away and pulls another one off her waist; she tosses it, releasing her Lopunny. "Lopunny, use Double Kick!" Lopunny moves towards Snorlax and lands two strong kicks to its face, doing super effective damage.
"Snorlax, use Heavy Slam!" said Hop. Snorlax leaps up and crashes down onto Lopunny.
"Leni better do something." said Clyde.
"Lopunny, use Double Kick again!" said Leni. Her Lopunny hits Snorlax with two more strong kicks, dealing more super effective damage to it.
"Snorlax, use Body Slam!" said Hop. Snorlax belly flops onto Lopunny, dealing enough damage to knock her out.
"Whoa." said Ronnie Anne.
"Way to go, Snorlax!" said Hop. Leni returns her Lopunny to her pokeball.
"You take a good rest." said Leni. She puts Lopunny's pokeball back on her waist and pulls another one off; she tosses it, releasing her Gardevoir. "Gardevoir, use Psybeam!" Gardevoir fires a beam of psychic energy that hits Snorlax's face; it starts to stagger around dizzily.
"Snorlax's confused now!" said Lincoln.
"Snorlax, use Heavy Slam!" said Hop. Snorlax tries to do so, but it trips over its feet and falls flat on its face.
"Gardevoir, use Dazzling Gleam!" said Leni. Gardevoir releases a powerful flash of light from herself that does enough damage to Snorlax to knock it out.
"Way to go, Leni!" said Lola. Hop returns his Snorlax to its pokeball.
"You were awesome, Snorlax." said Hop. He puts the pokeball away and pulls his last one off his waist; he tosses it, releasing his Rillaboom.
"Gardevoir, use Psychic!" said Leni. Her Gardevoir uses her psychic abilities to lift Rillaboom up and slams it to the ground; it's body starts to slump.
"It seems that Rillaboom's special defense is weakened." said Sonia.
"Rillaboom, use Drum Beating!" said Hop. Rillaboom plays its drum, releasing roots from it that hit Gardevoir, doing damage, and reducing her speed.
"Gardevoir, use Psybeam!" said Leni. Gardevoir fires a beam of psychic energy that hits Rillaboom, dealing damage.
"Rillaboom, use Knock Off!" said Hop. Rillaboom swings its fist at Gardevoir, hitting her, and knocking her to the ground; she slowly gets up.
"Gardevoir, use Draining Kiss!" said Leni. Gardevoir plants her lips on Rillaboom's head, making it blush while its energy was being transfered to Gardevoir, healing her wounds, and making Rillaboom pass out.
"Leni won!" said Luna.
"I knew she would." Lucy says from behind Luna, scaring her.
Hop drops to his knees before he returns his Rillaboom to its pokeball. He gets up and walks over to Leni.
"Thanks for the awesome battle, Leni." said Hop as he hands Leni some pokedollars.
"You're welcome." said Leni.
"I think I know what I have to do to become stronger as a trainer now." said Hop.
"That was a great battle, you two." said Sonia. "Keep this up, and all of you would give Leon trouble."
"Before we can, we still have two gym badges to get." said Lincoln.
"Let's call it a day for now and head for a hotel." said Luna.
"Yeah, but let's drop our Pokemon off at the Pokemon Center." said Clyde.
Later that night while most of the group was in bed, Lucy was sneaking out of the room he was sharing with some of his sisters; she goes outside where she uses her Rotom Phone to call for a Flying Taxi. It soon arrives, and she rides it to Stow-on-Side.
Ten minutes later, on a rooftop in Stow-on-Side, Lucy and Allister were sitting together, looking up at the moon.
"I don't see why we can't be co-gym leaders." said Allister.
"It would be so wicked." said Lucy. She kisses Allister on the cheek, making him smile and blush before they hold hands and continue to look up at the night sky.
Leni has beaten Hop now, and the group can now focus on going to Spikemuth to earn their seventh badges. Wait and find out what happens next.
