Spikemuth Gym Battles (Part One)
Lincoln, his sisters, friends, and Marnie walk out of the alley that lead into Spikemuth; they soon found themselves in a grim, barely lit, town.
"Eww." said Lola. "This is not my kind of place."
"Kind of gloomy." said Clyde.
"I like it." said Lucy from behind Clyde, startling him.
"Looks like a rough neighborhood." said Luna.
"Maybe, but it's still my home." said Marnie as she continues to hold Lincoln's hand.
"You can let go of Lincoln now." said Ronnie Anne with a scowl. Marnine, seeing she was still holding Lincoln's hand, quickly lets go while she and Lincoln both blush.
"Way to spoil the moment, Ronnie Anne." said Lola.
"She's just jealous." said Luna with a grin. Ronnie Anne looks away with a blush.
"So where's the stadium at?" asked Lincoln.
"There's no stadium here." said Marnie.
"So where do we battle?" asked Sam.
"On the other end of town." said Marnie. "There's an open area where the gym battles take place." said Marnie.
"Will there be enough room to Dynamax our Pokemon?" asked Clyde.
"There's no Power Spot here in Spikemuth, so Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing is impossible." said Marnie.
"That's fine." said Lincoln. "As long as we can still earn our badges, then I'm okay with that."
"Thanks for being understanding, Lincoln." said Marnie before she winks at Lincoln. Ronnie Anne growls before noticing a Pokemon Center.
"I'm gonna get my Pokemon treated." said Ronnie Anne.
"Me, too." said Marnie. She and Ronnie Anne both glare at each other before heading into the Pokemon Center. Moments later, Ronnie Anne and Marnie walk out of the Pokemon Center; Marnie looks at a large shutter at the end of town.
"With that shutter closed, nobody's gonna be able to challenge the gym." said Marnie.
"Well, why is it closed?" asked Lana.
"I'll look into it." replied Marnie; she walks over to Lincoln. "I'll see you later, Lincoln." She gives him a quick kiss before running off.
"Hey; you kids want to take the Gym Challenge?" asked a Team Yell member who was in a stand.
"You bet." said Lincoln.
"You just have to get to the other side of town." said the Team Yell member.
"Sounds simple enough." said Lincoln; he turned towards the others. "So, which of us is going first?"
"I'll do it, brah." replied Luna.
"Just change into your Gym Uniform and you can get started." said the Team Yell member. "We don't got a changing room, so just change in the Pokemon Center."
"Got it, dude." said Luna. She runs to the Pokemon Center; minutes later, she walks out of the Pokemon Center in her uniform and her guitar in her hand.
"Why are you bringing your guitar, Lunes?" asked Sam.
"Don't know; had the feeling I should." replied Luna. She then begins to walk up the deserted street. As she continued further up the street, she begins to hear a male voice, singing, along with loud cheering; Luna arrives at a lot that was the size of a basketball court. In it, she saw several Team Yell members; they were standing in front of a stage where a pale, slim, man with long, spiky, black and white hair tied in three ponytails, wearing a black and magenta shorts jumpsuit, a white jacket with diagonal magenta stripes, a thumbless black glove on his right hand, a white glove and a metal wristband on his left hand, gray shoes with spikes over black socks, and two gray bands around each of his shins.
"Whoa; I got to get in on that." said Luna. She runs past Team Yell and climbs onto the stage, surprising the man on it.
"Hey; I remember you from the Budew Drop Inn!" said a Team Yell member.
"Yeah, Piers; that girl rocks with that guitar." said another Team Yell member.
"Piers? Wait; you're the Spikemuth Gym Leader?" asked Luna.
"Yeah; so, you're good with that guitar?" asked the man, revealed to be Piers.
"You bet, dude." said Luna before plugging in her guitar and begins jamming on it. Team Yell begin cheering out loud, even Piers watched Luna with an impressed look on his face. Minutes later, Luna ended her ballad.
"Wow; you're really good with that guitar." said Piers. He then notices Luna's gym uniform. "Are you a Gym Challenger?"
"You bet, brah; I'm here to challenge you to a Gym Battle." said Luna.
"Well, I'm not really a good gym leader; guess that's why nobody's been comin' to challenge me." said Piers.
"Actually, you have a lot of challengers; just that the entrance to this town is shut." said Luna.
"What? How come?" asked Piers.
"Don't know; Marnie said she'd find out." said Luna.
"Marnie? My sister?" asked Piers.
"Wait; Marnie's your sister?" asked Luna.
"Yeah; you know her?" asked Piers.
"Yeah, my siblings and friends met her several times; she's actually in a relationship my my little brother, Lincoln." said Luna, surprising Piers.
"Really?" asked Piers.
"Yeah; anyway, I'd like to have a gym battle with you, dude." said Luna.
"All right." said Piers. Moments later, Luna and Piers were offstage, standing several yards from each other. "I hope we'll still have a good battle, despite not being able to Dynamax."
"It's cool; so, how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Luna.
"We'll each use four Pokemon." said Piers as he pulls out a pokeball.
"Got it, dude." said Luna as she pulls out a pokeball.
"Go, Scrafty!" said Piers, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Scrafty.
"Let's rock, Toxtricity!" said Luna, throwing Toxtricity's pokeball and releasing him. Scrafty glares at Toxtricity and he slumps.
"Scrafty has the Intimidate ability; weakens your Pokemon's attack strength." said Piers.
"Not gonna stop us, brah." said Luna. "Too bad we can't Dynamax here; Toxtricity here looked rockin' in his Gigantimax form." Piers shrugs in response.
"Scrafty, use Fake Out!" said Piers. Scrafty runs at Toxtricity and stops a few feet from him; it claps its hands, releasing a shockwave that hits Toxtricity, damaging him, and making him flinch. "Now use Headbutt!" Scrafty runs at Toxtricity and rams its head into him, dealing damage.
"Toxtricity, use Charge!" said Luna. Toxtricity becomes surrounded by sparks and his special defense increases.
"Scraggy, Brick Break!" said Piers. Scrafty jumps at Toxtricity and karate chops him, but not dealing much damage.
"Toxtricity, Overdrive!" said Luna. Toxtricity strums the protrusions on his chest, releasing an electrical shockwave from his body that hits Scrafty, dealing major damage due to Charge powering up the next electric attack Toxtricity uses.
"Scrafty, Headbutt!" said Piers. Scrafty runs at Toxtricity and rams its head against him, damaging him.
"Toxtricity, Boomburst!" said Luna. Toxtricity strums the protrusions on his chest again, this time, releasing a powerful soundwave that hits Scrafty, damaging it.
"Scrafty, Payback!" said Piers. Scraggy releases black streams of energy from its body that hits Toxtricity, dealing damage to him.
"Toxtricity, Discharge!" said Luna. Toxtricity releases electricity from his body and they hit Scrafty, dealing damage; Scrafty begins to twitch. "Looks like Scrafty's paralyzed, brah."
"Scrafty, Facade!" said Piers. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Scrafty from attacking.
"Toxtricity, Poison Jab!" said Luna. Toxtricity runs at Scrafty while his hand glows purple and he jabs Scrafty with it; Scrafty falls to the ground with swirly eyes. "Rock on, Toxtricity!" Toxtricty raises his hands and made goat horns. Piers returns Scrafty to its pokeball.
"You were cool, Scrafty." said Piers. He puts Scrafty's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Malamar!" He throws the pokeball and releases a Pokemon that looked like an upside down squid. Luna points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Malamar, the Overturning Pokemon, and the evolved form of Inkay. It's said that Malamar's hypnotic powers played a role in certain history-changing events." said Luna's Rotom Phone.
"Malamar, use Psycho Cut!" said Piers. One of Malamar's tentacles glowed dark pink and it swings it at Toxtricity, hitting him, and dealing super effective damage to him.
"Toxtricity, use Shock Wave!" said Luna. Toxtricity becomes surrounded by electricity; he fires a beam of it at Malamar, hitting it, and dealing damage.
"Malamar, Foul Play!" said Piers. Malamar grabs Toxtricity and slams him onto the ground, knocking him out.
"Way to go, Piers!" said a Team Yell member. Luna returns Toxtricity to his pokeball.
"You were rad, Toxtricity." said Luna. She puts Toxtricity's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Sharpedo!" She throws Sharpedo's pokeball and releases him. "Okay, Sharpedo, use Crunch!" Sharpedo leaps at Malamar while his fangs glowed white and bites Malamar, dealing damage; Malamar begins surging with energy. "Hey, what's going on?"
"Malamar has the Contrary ability." said Piers. "You see, Crunch usually weakens the defense of the Pokemon it's used on; thanks to Contrary, instead of Malamar's defense decreasing, it increases instead."
"Bogus." said Luna.
"Malamar, use Pluck!" said Piers. Malamar leaps at Sharpedo and jabs its beak into him, dealing damage; Malamar winces in pain.
"Sorry, dude; Sharpedo has the Rough Skin ability." said Luna. "Hurts any Pokemon that attacks him physically. "Okay, Sharpedo, use Ice Fang!" Sharpedo leaps at Malamar while ice forms around his fangs and he bites Malamar, damaging it, and making it flinch. "Now use Liquidation!" Water surrounds Sharpedo's fins and he hits Malamar with them.
"Use Wrap!" said Piers. Malamar wraps its tentacles around Sharpedo and squeezes him, dealing damage to him, as well as itself due to Sharpedo's Rough Skin.
"Sharpedo, Slash!" said Luna. Sharpdeo leaps at Malamar and slashes it with his fin, dealing damage.
"Malamar, use Slash also!" said Piers. Malamar slashes Sharpedo with its free tentacle, damaging both Sharpedo and itself.
"Sharpedo, Aqua Jet!" said Luna. Sharpedo becomes surrounded by water and flies at Malamar with incredible speed, ramming it, and knocking it out. "Awesome, Sharpedo! Too bad you can't do goat horns, but you're still cool." Sharpedo smiles in response. Piers returns Malamar to its pokeball.
"You did okay, Malamar." said Piers. He puts Malamar's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Skuntank, go!" He throws a pokeball and releases a large, skunk-like Pokemon. Luna points her Rotom Phone at it.
"Skuntank, the Skunk Pokemon. It digs holes in the ground to make its nest. The stench of the fluid it lets fly from the tip of its tail is extremely potent." said Luna's Rotom Phone.
"Okay, Skuntank, use Toxic!" said Piers. Skuntank sprays a purple liquid at Sharpedo, hitting him; it turned purple under Sharpedo's eyes.
"Bogus; Sharpedo's poisoned!" said Luna. "Sharpedo, Ice Fang!" Sharpedo leaps at Skuntank while ice formed around his fangs and he bites Skuntank, dealing damage. Sharpedo coughs from his poisoning and loses stamina.
"Skuntank, Venoshock!" said Piers. Skuntank fires a glob of purple liquid from its mouth and it hits Sharpedo, doing major damage due to Venoshock doing more damage to a poisoned opponent; Sharpedo collapes to the ground.
"All right, Piers!" yelled a Team Yell member. Luna returns Sharpedo to its pokeball.
"You were rad, Sharpedo." said Luna. She puts Sharpedo's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Exploud!" She throws Exploud's pokeball and releases him. "Okay, Exploud, use Howl!" Exploud lets out a loud howl; he begins surging with energy and his attack strength increases.
"Skuntank, Night Slash!" said Piers. Skuntank pounces at Exploud while dark energy surrounded its front paw and it claws Exploud with it, dealing damage.
"Exploud, use Stomp!" said Luna. Exploud leaps at Skuntank and stomps it with his feet, dealing damage, and making Skuntank flinch. "Now use Uproar!" Exploud lets out a loud yell, releasing blue soundwaves that hits Skuntank, damaging it.
"Skuntank, Flamethrower!" said Piers. Skuntank releases a stream of fire from its mouth and it hits Exploud, damaging him. Exploud lets out another loud yell, releasing soundwaves that hits Skuntank, damaging it.
"Skuntank, Sucker Punch!" said Piers. Skuntank leaps at Exploud and hits him with its front paw, damaging him. Exploud lets out another loud yell, releasing soundwaves that hits Skuntank, knocking it out. "Way to go, dude!" Skuntank suddenly becomes surrounded by orange energy and it explodes, hitting Exploud, knocking him out. "What was that?!"
"Skuntank's Aftermath ability; deals damage to the Pokemon that knocks it out." said Piers.
"That's whack, brah." said Luna. She returns Exploud to its pokeball while Piers returns Skuntank to its pokeball. "You were awesome, Exploud."
"You're doing awesome yourself, Luna." said Piers. "But you still have one more Pokemon to beat if you want to win a badge from me."
"Bring it, dude." said Luna as she pulls out a pokeball while Piers does the same. "Let me show you a real rockin' Pokemon; Go, Gigalith!" She throws Gigalith's pokeball and releases her.
"Go, Obstagoon!" said Piers, throwing a pokeball and releases a black and white, bipedal, badger-like Pokemon. Luna points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Obstagoon, the Blocking Pokemon and the final evolved form of Zigzagoon. It evolved after experiencing numerous fights. While crossing its arms, it lets out a shout that would make any opponent flinch." said Luna's Rotom Phone.
"Obstagoon, Night Slash!" said Piers. Obstagoon leaps at Gigalith while dark energy surrounded its claws.
"Iron Defense!" said Luna. Gigalith's body glows white and her body shines, increasing her defense before Obstagoon claws her, dealing damage. "Now use Power Gem!" Gigalith fires a pink beam of energy from her crystal on her head and it hits Obstagoon, damaging it.
"Obstagoon, Cross Chop!" said Piers. Obstagoon leaps at Gigalith and karate chops her with both of its hands, dealing super effective damage.
"Gigalith, Mud-Slap!" said Luna. Gigalith sprays a stream of mud at Obstagoon, hitting it, and dealing damage while some of the mud lands on its eyes.
"Obstagoon, Snarl!" said PIers. Obstagoon releases multiple purple rings of energy out of its mouth that hits Gigalith, dealing damage to her.
"Gigalith, Headbutt!" said Luna. Gigalith leaps at Obstagoon and rams her head against it, dealing damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Rock Slide!" Multiple gray rocks appeared in front of Gigalith and she launches them at Obstagoon, hitting it, and dealing damage.
"Obstagoon, Cross Chop!" said Piers. Obstagoon runs at Gigalith and tries to karate chop her with both hands, but misses due to its accuracy being lowered by Mud-Slap.
"Gigalith, Smack Down!" said Luna. Gigalith forms a golden ball of energy in front of her and launches it at Obstagoon, hitting it, and dealing damage.
"Obstagoon, Night Slah!" said Piers. Obstagoon runs at Gigalith while dark energy surrounded its claws and it claws Gigalith with them, dealing damage to her; she struggles to stay up.
"Gigalith, Stone Edge!" said Luna. Gigalith slams her feet onto the ground, making rock spires rise from the ground towards Obstagoon and they hit it, knocking it to the ground, unconscious. "We did it, dudette!" Piers returns Obstagoon to its pokeball and walks over to Luna.
"That was a good battle." said Piers.
"Thanks, dude." said Luna. Piers reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a badge that had the image of a black, horned demon face on it.
"Since you beat me, I reward you with the Dark Badge." said Piers. He gives Luna the Dark Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Rad!" said Luna as she holds up her new badge. "My fam and friends are gonna be challenging you next."
"I'll get my Pokemon healed and get ready for the next one." said Piers.
"I'll come with so I can get my Pokemon fixed up also." said Luna.
Luna has just earned her Dark Badge. Will her siblings and friends do the same? Wait and find out.
