Author's Notes :
Hello everyone, and welcome to this fanfiction between the Kingdom Hearts and Genshin Impact franchises.
I'll quickly introduce the context. My fanfic, "Kingdom Hearts III.5: A Journey on Teyvat," was originally written in French, as it is my native language and it's easier for me to write in it. If some of you have started or have taken a look at my story, I mentioned that I would consider creating an English version, given the predominance of the language on the site. So, to allow everyone to enjoy my story, I decided to publish this English version. Additionally, I plan to continue writing in French as well.
Right now, I am in the process of translating all my chapters into English. I hope you will be understanding of my English proficiency. I will try to make as few mistakes as possible.
So, there you go, all of this just to say that I have decided to continue my story in both French and English. You'll just have to choose the version you prefer. I sincerely hope you will enjoy (or re-enjoy, for those who have already read it) this version of the story.
Finally, I'll just briefly talk about the plot of the story: it takes place after the end of Kingdom Hearts III. Normally, after Sora and his friends defeat Xehanort, he was supposed to go save Kairi alone using the power of awakening, which would lead to his disappearance after using it one last time unconsciously. This is where I choose to deviate from the original story. Sora will not use his power, preventing his disappearance. Instead, he will know where Kairi has gone, which will lead him to join the world of Genshin. Is this a good thing? You'll have to tell me.
With that said, thank you for taking the time to read, and enjoy the story, everyone!
Disclaimer: I do not own the copyright for these two franchises. They belong to Square Enix and HoyoVerse respectively.
Kingdoms Hearts III.5: A Journey on Teyvat
Prologue: A new quest. Searching the lost light.
(Kingdom Hearts 2 OST: Destiny Islands)
Blue skies, pleasant warmth, a small island bathed in the sunset, welcome to the Destiny Islands. It's a small world, among a multitude that can be found in the universe. And it's in this world that we meet a young man, standing in front of the ocean, his eyes fixed on the horizon. He had spiky brown hair, a silver crown pendant around his neck, and was dressed in black and red shorts and hoodie. The boy's name was Sora.
Sora was born on the Destiny Islands, and had spent most of his childhood there. Even so, his mind was elsewhere, lost in memories of his past adventures.
Sora is a young man with a pure heart and an indomitable spirit, who had traveled through many worlds and faced countless darknesses at the start of his adventures. From the moment he took hold of the Keyblade, a mystical weapon wielded by certain chosen ones, he had always sought to protect his friends and bring light back to lost hearts
Memories flooded in, each moment marking a turning point in his quest. He remembered the first time he left this island, caught up in a whirlwind of events that would change his life forever.
From his first battles against the Heartless, to the desperate battles against Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness, or the members of Organization XIII, Sora had always found the strength to carry on, thanks to his willpower and the strength of his friends... Alongside Donald and Goofy, he had traveled through wondrous worlds, fighting for peace and balance.
But Sora's greatest victory was against Master Xehanort and the new Organization XIII. An epic battle that culminated at the Keyblade Graveyard.
After a moment of contemplation, Sora turned away from the sea and headed for a small cave he knew well. The inside of the cave was dark and cool, but a sense of familiarity and nostalgia filled the air. On one of the walls, a scribbled drawing caught his eye. It depicted him and Kairi exchanging paopou fruit, a symbol of their unbreakable bond.
Sora: Kairi…
(Kingdom Hearts OST: Treasured Memories)
Sora stared at the drawing, and memories of the terrible battle against Master Xehanort flooded his mind. He recalled the tension, the despair and the courage shared with his friends. Together, they had defeated the darkness and brought back the light. But this victory came at a price.
Indeed, in an effort to force Sora and his friends to fight him in order to forge the X-Blade, Master Xehanort struck a violent blow to Kairi's back, destroying her body and making her disappear right before Sora's horrified eyes.
Just looking at the drawing plunged Sora into deep sadness and worry. He recalled the scene when Kairi was torn away from him. The pain of that loss was still raw, like an open wound.
As Sora sank deeper into his thoughts, he heard footsteps behind him. Turning around, he saw a young man with short silver hair, wearing long navy blue shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt. It was Riku, Sora's best friend. He approached with a look of understanding and support.
Riku : Hey, Sora. I knew I'd find you here.
Sora : Hey Riku.
Sora tried to smile, but the sadness in his eyes was obvious.
Sora : I was... thinking about Kairi. I can't stop feeling guilty.
Riku: Sora, you can't keep blaming yourself for what happened to Kairi. You should know that I feel just as responsible for not being able to save her, just like you do.
Sora : You don't have to feel sorry Riku, it's just that...
Sora paused for a moment, before sighing.
Sora : It's just that…, my whole journey began the day I lost her. And every time I find her… she slips away again. I thought we'd finally be together. But she's out there, alone…
Riku: Sora…
It's true. When Sora first set out on his adventure, he had to gather extraordinary courage and willpower to overcome adversity. After all, Riku remembers all too well how, in his pride and jealousy, he wanted to save Kairi all by himself and did everything to keep Sora as far away from her as possible. It's something Riku will certainly regret for the rest of his life.
Determined to lift his friend's spirits, Riku decided to use an old trick, hoping to provoke a reaction from Sora.
Riku: C'mon Sora. You've got to pull it together. Ah, what a crybaby you are...
At these words, Sora reacted instinctively, as Riku had hoped.
Sora: Huh? What did you say?
Seeing that Sora was still reacting to his provocation, Riku continued without wasting a second.
Riku: As you said, ever since that fateful day when our island was destroyed, forcing us to fend for ourselves, you've never given up. You've crossed worlds and faced more powerful enemies, all to find and protect everyone you cared about. Kairi, me… even when I took everything from you—your Keyblade, your friends—you always found the strength within yourself to fight and overcome the challenges that came with it. You're stronger than you think, Sora. And that won't change now.
Sora remained silent for a moment, absorbing Riku's words. He was right. No matter how hard it had been, whenever he'd suffered, physically or psychologically, he'd never given up. He could always count on the support of his friends: Donald, Goofy, King Mickey, Riku, and finally, Kairi. Sora's strength lies neither in his mind nor in his abilities. No, his strength lies in his friends.
Sora : Thank you, Riku. You're so right. Every time I was about to give up, you were all there to remind me not to give up. Without you by my side, I wouldn't be where I am today.
Seeing that Sora's spirits had improved, Riku decided to tease him a little to bring out his goofy side and make sure to see Sora smile again.
Riku: Hey, no need to thank me. After all, I know you'll never succeed on your own. We've always got to keep an eye on you to make sure disaster doesn't strike.
This remark made Sora react, and he gave Riku an irritated look.
Sora: Was that really necessary, the cheap shot?
Riku: You know I'm right, don't you?
Sora: ...No comment.
Riku: Come on, I'm sure in a moment you'll want to talk to me again.
Faced with this assertion, Sora questioned him.
Sora : Why's that?
To answer, Riku took from his pocket a glass bottle containing a message. The parchment inside was neatly rolled up. Although the contents of the message were illegible, a black symbol could be seen affixed like a seal: a stylized mouse's head, composed of a large central circle and two smaller circles at equal distance, forming ears.
At this sight, Sora immediately understood what it was all about.
Riku: Looks like Mickey sent us a letter.
Sora reached out, his curiosity piqued. Riku handed him the bottle, and Sora carefully opened it. He unrolled the parchment, his eyes quickly scanning the lines written by their friend.
Sora: It's from King Mickey, indeed.
Riku: Sounds serious. Mickey wouldn't contact us like this if he wasn't sure of something.
Still reading the letter attentively, Riku watched Sora, searching for a sign of the spark of hope he hoped to see. And that's exactly what he got. After reading the letter, Sora seemed to have regained a bit of hope.
Sora: Riku! King Mickey and Master Yen Sid have apparently found a clue to where Kairi might be. He's asking us to join them.
Riku: I see... in that case, there's not a minute to lose.
Sora: Yes, to the Mysterious Tower.
(Kingdom Hearts Ⅲ OST - Magical Mystery)
On a starry night, a tall brown tower with green conical roofs stood majestically. This was the world of the Mysterious Tower.
The Mysterious Tower is a beacon of wisdom in the immensity of the cosmos. Perched on a floating island surrounded by stars and nebulae, it stands as a monument to knowledge and magic. At its summit resides Master Yen Sid, a powerful sorcerer and a former Keyblade Master who became a mentor to many heroes, including King Mickey himself.
At the foot of the tower are two anthropomorphic animals: a white duck in a blue jacket and beret, and a large dog in green clothing, long shorts and a yellow hat. They are Donald and Goofy.
Goofy: Gawrsh, do you think Sora has received King Mickey's letter yet?
Donald: Let's hope so, Goofy, let's hope so.
Both were a little worried. Since the end of the new Keyblade War, Donald and Goofy had to leave Sora to help King Mickey find Kairi. It had been a difficult decision, leaving their hearts heavy. After so many adventures with Sora, it was painful to have to leave their best friend, even temporarily.
Goofy: I hope Sora's feeling better now.
Donald: He will be, Goofy! He can't help but feel better after reading the letter.
At the same moment, the two companions suddenly heard a noise coming from far away. Opening their ears wide, the sound came closer and closer. Looking up, they saw a large cube-shaped vessel in red and yellow: the Gummi ship.
At the sight of the vehicle, Donald and Goofy instinctively knew what was coming.
Goofy: Donald, they're here!
The Gummi ship landed softly near the Mysterious Tower, letting out a gentle whistle of propulsion before the hatch slowly opened. Donald and Goofy were already there, anxious but hopeful.
The two friends waited impatiently, scanning the ship as it opened to let their fellow adventurers off. Riku was the first to appear, closely followed by Sora.
Donald and Goofy: SORA!
Sora's eyes lit up when he saw Donald and Goofy running towards him. Seeing them rushing towards him, Sora couldn't resist and decided to go for them too. He rushed to meet them
Sora: Donald! Goofy!
The three met in a warm embrace, as if they'd parted the day before rather than during that trying period of separation. The emotions of reunion and camaraderie filled the air around them, momentarily dispelling worries and uncertainties.
Riku (joining them): Looks like we all missed each other, eh?
Sora (laughing): You can say that again, Riku. It's so good to see you guys again.
Donald: And us too, Sora. We've all been worried about you.
Goofy: But now you're here, everything's going to be all right. King Mickey has found a way to find Kairi!
Sora: That's what I understood when I read the letter. Let's not waste a single second; let's get to the tower!
After a quick reunion, Sora hurried off to the tower, leaving Donald and Goofy behind.
Donald : Wak !? Sora ! Wait for us, darn it!
Goofy: Gawrsh! I feel like I'm seeing Sora just like at the beginning of our adventures together. That proves he's all right, doesn't it?
Donald: Oh... I don't know if that's good news or bad...
The Mysterious Tower loomed before them, imposing and mystical under the starry sky. Sora, eager and determined, dashed towards the entrance, his friends Donald, Goofy and Riku at his side. They climbed the spiral stairs, excitement growing on each step.
Inside the tower, the corridors were illuminated by magic lanterns and shelves filled with ancient tomes. At the top, in a large circular hall, Master Yen Sid waited, peaceful and solemn, with the young mouse king, Mickey, at his side.
Sora (entering enthusiastically): Master Yen Sid! King Mickey! Here we are!
Yen Sid (smiling slightly): Welcome, Sora... and Riku. I'm glad to see you all here.
Mickey: My friends! I'm glad you all got here so quickly.
Sora : That's for sure! As soon as I read your letter, I knew I had to come and see you immediately. By the way, thank you for sending us the Gummi ship, Your Majesty.
Mickey: My pleasure, Sora! From what I can see, you're looking a little better since last time.
Riku: He's only gotten better recently. You should have seen him before you sent your letter. I had to tease him a bit to help him bounce back.
Sora : Hey! Everyone has their moments of feeling down. And besides, I wasn't moping around all the time, was I?
Hearing the little scene between the two friends, Mickey, Donald and Goofy couldn't help but laugh. Even Yen Sid smiled. These pleasant moments were welcome for everyone.
Sora : By the way, I was wondering, did you send the message to the others?
Understanding what Sora was talking about, Mickey hastened to answer.
Mickey: Well... It was planned to gather everyone to discuss this. But... they're already busy with their own research. Ventus, Terra and Aqua went to the Realm of Darkness. And the Twilight Town gang are studying Roxas and Xion's memories. After all, even if it only happened once, they both communicated with Kairi, so it doesn't hurt to try.
Sora : I see...
Sora needed to remember to thank all his friends. After all, they had also contributed to finding Kairi. So, Sora shouldn't forget to express his gratitude to them.
Mickey: To tell you the truth, I was just about to find them and tell them the news, but it'll probably take some time to get us all together. I remember how the loss of Kairi affected you, so I decided that you and Riku would be the first to know.
Sora : Really?
Seeing Mickey's attention, Sora couldn't help but give him a grateful smile and thanked him sincerely.
Sora : Thank you for your attention, Your Majesty.
Sora then turned to Yen Sid.
Sora : Master Yen Sid, I hear you have a lead to find Kairi, is that true?
Not wanting to shatter the hope on Sora's face, the old master replied.
Yen Sid: Indeed, Sora. I believe I have a way to locate Kairi, or at least the world where she seems to be.
Sora was delighted to hear this.
Sora : Great! What are we waiting for? Let's go and find her! Tell me which world she's in!
Seeing Sora's impatience, Donald decided to teach him a lesson.
Donald: Sora! Don't rush Master Yen Sid!
But the old wizard didn't seem to mind. He raised his hand to show he wasn't offended.
Yen Sid: There's no need to scold him, Donald. It's understandable that Sora is the most impatient of us all. However, it's essential that I explain how I was able to locate Kairi. This will better prepare you for your next journey.
Sora : Really?
Riku: You've waited all this time without hearing from Kairi, so you can wait a few minutes, can't you?
Seeing the logic in Riku's words, Sora had to contain some impatience within himself.
Sora : Ok, let's hear it Master Yen Sid.
Yen Sid: Hmm. First, I'd like to introduce you to this object.
With a simple movement of his hand, smoke appeared on his desk, revealing an object, a star-shaped crystal. Looking at it, Sora couldn't help but ask.
Sora: Hmm? What's that?
However, the object was very familiar to Mickey, Donald and Goofy.
Goofy: Master Yen Sid, isn't it?
Mickey: It's the Star Shard!
Sora: A... Star Shard?
Riku: What's it for?
Yen Sid: This Star Shard is an object from my collection, which allows you to travel between worlds, in the same way as the Gummi ship. Used properly, it could take you to worlds almost instantaneously. But using it without understanding how it works...
He then glanced at Mickey.
Yen Sid: ...And you'll be transported at any moment to a random world, against your will.
Yen Sid's comment brought a nervous smile to Mickey's face, as he was the most capable of understanding what his master was talking about. He used it himself during the Unversed crisis, when Master Xehanort wanted to forge the X-Blade for the first time. This attempt failed, thanks to the efforts of Ventus, Terra and Aqua. But it wasn't without consequences, as this terrible battle left emotional scars on the 3 of them. Fortunately, thanks to Sora, they are now all reunited.
Yen Sid paused, allowing Sora and Riku time to assimilate the information. The Star Shard softly glowed on his desk, emitting a soothing glow. Sora, ever curious, couldn't help but ask.
Sora : Why are you telling us about this object, Master Yen Sid?
Yen Sid replied, his voice deep and solemn:
Yen Sid: While the others were searching for traces of Kairi, I felt something strange in this room. My Star Shard gave off a peculiar light, accompanied by a sensation of... familiar warmth.
He gestured with his hand, inviting Sora and Riku to come closer.
Yen Sid: Sora, Riku, come and touch the star. I'm sure you'll understand what I mean.
Although puzzled, Sora and Riku accepted the master's invitation. Sora touched the star first, followed by Riku, who placed his hand on Sora's. The two friends closed their eyes, focusing on the light evoked by Yen Sid.
A few moments later, they indeed felt a light, gentle and kind. Sora knew this warmth all too well. He'd welcomed it into his heart before. It could only be her.
Sora : Kairi! This light... it belongs to Kairi!
Riku : You're right... I too can feel Kairi's light in this shard.
Sora : Does that mean that if we use this Star Shard, we can find her?
Clearly, Sora had forgotten Yen Sid's warning about the Star Shard. Donald then spoke up.
Donald: Sora, you haven't forgotten what Master Yen Sid told us about the Star?
Goofy: Um, he said that if you use it without fully understanding it, you could find yourself in another world, with no idea where it's going to take you.
Sora : No problem. Maybe if I concentrate hard enough on Kairi's light, he could probably take me to where she is, couldn't he?
Sora's optimism and recklessness often overshadowed his common sense and safety. He was ready to rush headlong into any situation. Donald and Goofy knew this trait well, as their adventures together had often led them into unexpected situations and mishaps. Their response was a long sigh.
Donald and Goofy: Sigh
Eavesdropping on their conversation, Master Yen Sid delivered a surprising reply.
Yen Sid: Hmm... Sora's suggestion might as well be the answer we're all looking for.
At these words, everyone in the room was surprised that Yen Sid had agreed with Sora, including Sora himself.
Mickey, Donald and Goofy : What!?
Sora : Do you really think so?
Yen Sid : Whenever you are in need, magic happens. That is your greatest strength, Sora. You've touched many hearts so far, and they've been able to repay you for your kindness and generosity. I wouldn't be surprised if that light I felt... was a message for you, Sora.
Sora : Kairi...
Goofy: So... you really think that if Sora focuses on Kairi, the star will take him to find her?
Yen Sid: There's still something you need to know about this Star Sharp. Although it has the ability to take you to other worlds, this is the first time I've seen it act in this way. Originally, you had to think of a particular world for it to allow you to travel. Even when used unconsciously, you always gave your will to the star to get you somewhere, whether you wanted to or not. But right now, it seems as if the star's will, powered by Kairi's light, wants to take you to a specific place.
This explanation surprised everyone in the room.
Mickey: Really, Master Yen Sid?
Yen Sid: Hmm. Perhaps the mystery lies in the very origin of the star..
Riku: Its origin, you say?
Yen Sid: Indeed. You should know that it was I who created this Star Shard. Originally, it was simply a stone from another world. It was called a Acquaint Fate. In its purest form, this stone was shaped like a seed… A seed that lights up the night. No matter the distance apart, guided by the stone's glimmer, the fated will meet under the stars.
Yen Sid's words resonated deeply in Sora's mind. Indeed, it sounded almost exactly like the message Kairi had written to him when he and Riku had landed in the Realm of Darkness after battling Xemnas. Without Kairi's words, they would surely still be stuck in this dark place.
Flashback :
Kairi : Thinking of you, wherever you are. We pray for our sorrows to end, and hope that our hearts will blend. Now I will step forward to realize this wish. And who knows: Starting a new journey may not be so hard or maybe it's already begun. There are many worlds, but they share the same sky– one sky, one destiny.
Yen Sid: To come back to what I was saying, the material used to make my star shard was originally used to summon people. Its power was so great that it could even summon people from other worlds. So I thought: rather than summoning people from other worlds, what if we reversed the process? What if we ourselves came to different worlds, without being invoked? And it was after much trial and experimentation that I managed to finalize the creation of the star shard.
Reflecting on everything Master Yen Sid had just said, Mickey tried to make the connection between all these events. After a moment's reflection, he told them his conclusion.
Mickey: You say you created this star shard from a material from another world called Acquaint Fate. Its power allows you to call people, even those from other worlds. Could it be that, although you created it yourself, the fragment has retained its original function all this time?
Yen Sid: It seems you've come to the same conclusion I have, Mickey.
Trying to make sense of it all, Sora couldn't help asking the question that had been nagging at him.
Sora : So... what does it all mean?
Riku, silent until now, and taking in everything that had been said, came up with his own answer.
Riku: It means that, since this stone was originally intended to summon people from one world to another, it's possible that Kairi's current location is the same world from which the Acquaint Fate used to make the star sharp originated.
Yen Sid: That's right, Riku.
With this explanation, Sora finally understood that Kairi was probably in another world, the same world from which the star shard had come. Wanting to get straight to the point, he asked Yen Sid.
Sora : Master! Do you know what this world is called and where we can find it?
Yen Sid nodded in agreement.
Yen Sid: The world I'm referring to is called... Teyvat.
Sora : Tey...vat?
Yen Sid: Teyvat a fantasy world where the seven elements flow and converge: wind, rock, thunder, nature, water, fire and ice. Each of these elements is controlled by a god who rules over a specific region, so this world is overseen by seven gods, also known as Archons.
Sora : Gods? Like the one from Hercules' world?
Yen Sid: Indeed, In the distant past, the Archons granted mortals unique elemental abilities. With the help of such powers, people formed a bountiful homeland out of the wilderness
Riku: So, if I understand correctly, the inhabitants of that world also have powers… elemental powers different from the ones we wield with our Keyblades?
Yen Sid: That's right. Although it's difficult to compare these powers to those exercised by the Keyblade, those who succeed in wielding the elements constantly carry with them an object proving that their values and ambitions have been recognized by the gods. This is called a Vision. This is what enables the people of this world to use their powers. Rest assured, those with Visions are not as numerous as you might think. Only a minority are able to do so. After all, not everyone can obtain the favor of the gods...
Sora : I see... that makes me feel better.
Riku : Is there anything else we need to know?
Yen Sid: Yes, one more thing... At least 500 years ago, Teyvat was the scene of a devastating war, the after-effects of which are still visible today.
These words aroused everyone's concern.
Donald: There was a war, you say?
Goofy: A war? Over 500 years ago?
For Sora, the word "war" always evoked a recent event.
Sora : You mean this world was also a victim of the previous Keyblade War?
Wanting to reassure everyone, Yen Sid raised his arms to encourage those in the room to remain calm.
Yen Sid : Rest assured, Sora. This war was different from the Keyblade War. However, I don't know whether the latter contributed in any way to the beginning of Teyvat's own war...
Sora took a deep breath, her shoulders relaxing slightly. The tension in the room eased, but everyone's interest remained palpable.
Riku: Can you tell us more about this war, Master Yen Sid?
Yen Sid nodded, his gaze wandering for a moment in the distant memory of this ancient story.
Yen Sid: Some 500 years ago, Teyvat was torn apart by a war known as the Archon War. It was a battle for supremacy between the elemental gods, each fighting for control of their territories and followers. The aftermath of this war has left its mark on the landscape and peoples of Teyvat. Many civilizations disappeared, and the inhabitants still bear the scars of this conflict.
Dingo: Gawshr, it must have been terrible...
Sora clenched his fists, determination in his eyes.
Sora: Master Yen Sid, if this world has known such a war, it may be dangerous. But Kairi could be in danger, and I can't abandon her. Tell us how to get there.
Seeing Sora's determination, Donald and Goofy moved towards him.
Donald : We'll go too!
Dingo : That's right!
Seeing that his lifelong friends were ready to accompany him, Sora could only reply.
Sora: Thank you, Donald, Goofy.
However, they weren't ready for what came next.
Sora: But this time, I have to go it alone.
Needless to say, Donald and Goofy were equally surprised by this answer. Riku and Yen Sid looked on silently. Mickey approached Sora to ask.
Mickey: Are you sure?
Sora: Yes. From the moment we defeated Master Xehanort and closed Kingdom Hearts for good, I was determined to go in search of Kairi. Now that I know where she is, I can only keep moving forward.
Mickey: Sora…
With a sad look on his face, Mickey turned to Riku, who stepped up beside him. Then he asked Sora a question.
Riku: So you're resolved?
Sora: More than ever.
Riku lowered his head for a moment to think, then put his hand on Mickey's shoulder to comfort him.
Riku: Let him go, Mickey
Surprised by this answer, Mickey wanted to know why Riku supported this decision.
Mickey: Riku…
Riku: His heart and his mind are made up. Now believe in him..
It's true. Every time Sora has acted, every decision he's made, it's been by following his heart. This time is no exception.
It was then that Master Yen Sid intervened to add something.
Yen Sid: Sora may well be the only one to go.
Once again, everyone in the room was surprised by Master Yen Sid's words.
Donald: Do you agree with this too, Master?
Yen Sid: Hm! To return to the subject of the Star Shard, I believe it could indeed lead you to where Kairi is, which is the world of Teyvat. However, I have doubts about who will make this journey. I think the fragment can only take one person to Teyvat.
Faced with this statement, everyone was perplexed.
Goofy: Why is that, Master? Last time, Donald and I did use the Star Sharp to come to Sora's rescue during the Mark of Mastery exam. There were no restrictions on the number of passengers.
Yen Sid: That's true, Goofy. But don't forget that this star didn't respect any laws regarding the number of people using it to travel to another world. However, if you were to go to the world of Teyvat, it would be different. In that case, the star sharp would once again obey the laws that govern its world. I created the fragment using a single Acquaint Fate. According to the laws of Teyvat, a destiny stone can only be used for one wish. These wishes are in fact invocations. Thus, only one person can be invoked to travel to Teyvat. As for the others, they will have to use the stellar paths.
Sora : In that case, our problem's solved. I'll go, end of story.
Since this was the only solution available, Mickey, Donald and Goofy agreed, while wishing Sora good luck.
Mickey: You're right. Safe journey, Sora.
Sora: Thank you, Your Majesty.
Goofy: Come back soon!
Donald: And in one piece!
Sora: I will. And we'll both be back before you know it.
Sora then turned to Yen Sid.
Sora: Master Yen Sid, thank you for all you've done to find Kairi.
Satisfied with Sora's gratitude, Yen Sid warned him one last time.
Yen Sid: Sora, this adventure will surely be more difficult than you imagine. I don't know what happened the last time I was in Teyvat, but this world has its own dangers. Despite your victory in the Keyblade War and the closure of Kingdom Hearts, the darkness will never truly disappear. It's in the unchanging nature of life. There can be no light without darkness. Surely you understand what this means.
Indeed, seeing only too well what he was getting at, Sora replied.
Sora : The Heartless, right?
Yen Sid: Exactly. The fate of a Keyblade Wielder is inevitably linked to darkness, and in particular to the Heartless. You know this better than anyone. They will be drawn to you and the Keyblade. That's why you have to be careful, not only with the Heartless, but also with the many dangers you'll encounter in Teyvat.
Sora : Great... I must be doubly vigilant then.
(Kingdom Hearts OST - Link to All )
Despite the many warnings Yen Sid had given him, he nonetheless smiled at the wise man.
Yen Sid: However, knowing you, I'm sure you'll make companions along the way. Friends who will help you overcome the challenges that await you. That's why... I'm not too worried about you. You've always had this gift on you, Sora. For connecting with others.
Having a good grasp of his personality, Sora couldn't help but place his hands behind his head and smile broadly.
Sora : You know me so well, Master.
Yen Sid returned Sora's smile.
All that was missing was Riku to wish him luck.
Sora: Well, Riku? Not a word of encouragement?
Riku, wanting to encourage Sora, did so... but in his characteristic way.
Riku: Um, if I wish you good luck, I'm afraid you'll get a big head and you won't be able to accomplish your mission.
Sora, accustomed to Riku's sarcasm, replied in a neutral tone.
Sora: All right, so you're not going to wish me good luck then?
Riku: Do you really need it?
Sora: Anyway, even without your encouragement, I'll still succeed.
Riku: Really? Do you want to bet?
Sora: Sure.
After this little verbal joust, they looked each other straight in the eye for a few moments... before they both started smiling. Even if Sora wouldn't admit it, he knew he'd miss these moments of teasing with Riku. A feeling shared by Riku. Finally, Riku gave him a sincere word of encouragement.
Riku: Good luck.
Sora: Thanks.
After all those words of encouragement, Sora was now ready. He reached out for the star sharped, grasped it firmly, then closed his eyes. Concentrating with all his might, he felt Kairi's light emanating from the fragment. In his mind, Sora formulated a burning wish: to find Kairi, to feel her soft, tender warmth.
Sora: Kairi, wherever you are, I promise to bring you home! I wish.
As if in answer to Sora's wish, the star sharp began to glow intensely, illuminating the entire room. Sora was at the heart of this light and, at its peak, it shot straight up into the sky, zigzagging through the air. Guiding Sora towards the world where Kairi was.
After this scene, a perceptible anxiety invaded all those who witnessed Sora's departure.
Donald: Sora...
Goofy: He's gone...
Riku did everything in his power to reassure them.
Riku: Don't worry. If there's one thing you can be sure of with Sora, it's that he always comes back safe and sound after his adventures. This time will be no different. We can trust him.
Mickey: You're right, Riku.
Riku, Mickey, Donald and Goofy then turned to Yen Sid.
Mickey: Master Yen Sid, what should we do now?
Yen Sid, stroking his long beard and pondering what to do next, spoke up.
Yen Sid: For now we must reach out to those in the Land of Departure, and Twilight Town: Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Roxas, Lea and Xion. We need to inform them of what we have learned and have them halt their respective efforts. Even if Sora has gone alone, there's a good chance he'll still need our help. However, alerting them and getting ready will certainly take a while. In the meantime, let's hope Sora can make it on his own.
He then turned to Riku and Mickey.
Yen Sid: Riku, Mickey, can I leave this to you?
Riku: Yes, sir.
Yen Sid: Thank you.
Looking out of the window, Yen Sid couldn't help but murmur.
Yen Sid: May your heart be your guiding key… Sora.
And that's the end of the first chapter. What did you think? I hope it was understandable for everyone. I wanted to start with the idea of using the star shard that first appeared in the "Birth by Sleep" saga and combine it with the concept of the Acquaint Fate from Genshin. You know? Those little blue stones that are essential for summoning characters or weapons on the permanent banner. At the moment, I thought it would be fun to mix these two elements together. What I'm most proud of personally is that, in addition to laying the groundwork for Sora to travel to the world of Teyvat, it also respects the concept of summons as done in the game. And with one Acquaint Fate available, it leads to one summon, so.
Is this credible in your eyes, yes or no? Let me know. For the upcoming chapters, I will try to publish them as I can. As I mentioned, this is my first time diving into fanfiction. I'm a novice author, and it will probably take me some time to figure out how the story will unfold. So, I ask for your patience and understanding.
With that, thank you for reading the first chapter. And with that, I might say see you soon.
