CHAPTER 203

Dianna stepped from around the side of a massive redwood. The view before her was nothing short of a snapshot right out of prehistory. A small open area scattered with more redwoods was milling with brachiosaurs. The tall long necked sauropods roamed gracefully among the sequoias. It was a peaceful scene.

Dianna waved Seth and Kyra out from behind the tree and led them into the clearing. Wherever they could she kept them close to the sequoia trunks, but the truth was the brachiosaurs didn't think much of their intrusion. Dianna was mainly concerned about avoiding carnivores.

"Hold on," Dianna stopped them at the base of one tree.

A brachiosaurus was coming in their direction, and she thought it best to give it the right of way.

The herbivore let out a trumpeting call as its four legs boomed past. The animal carried itself with grace, and indeed did not seem to regard the humans at all as it stepped onward.

With the brachiosaur's tail swaying by, Dianna pointed beyond and whispered, "the air strip isn't far. We should be able to see the perimeter fencing for the runway by the time we reach the other end of this clearing."

Seth and Kyra nodded.

Dianna continued, "if we get separated you run for that plane." She looked at both of them sternly. "You understand? No matter what. Hop the fence. Get on that plane. Tell the pilot to take off."

They both nodded again.

The brachiosaur had moved along, and Dianna led them onward.
