Later on that afternoon found Laurel and Sam getting coffee together at SC Jitters to discuss what Laurel wanted to talk to her about.

"So, Laurel, what exactly is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" Sam asked as she sipped her ice mocha latte.

"Well, I've been out of work since CNRI was destroyed the day Black Canary got her powers and while I've enjoyed being a stay at home mom with Jasmine and learning how to be Black Canary, but I miss being in the courtroom, despite my fiance's wealth and the severance I got from the city after CNRI was torched." Laurel said.

"I still don't see what that has to do with me?" Sam asked.

"I want to follow Ollie's example in my own way. Start up a new legal practice in the Glades that's not only picking up where CNRI left off, helping the poor and impoverished people of the Glades that can't afford proper legal services, but I also want to specialize in metahuman law, since we both know that ever since metahumans emerged, people seem to think that their powers mean that they don't deserve the same rights and protections as other people. And I can't do that alone. I want to be partners with you." Laurel said.

"I'm not saying no, but why me?" Sam asked, since she was intrigued by Laurel's offer, she wanted to know why she'd picked her.

"Because I saw how you took Moira's case without hesitation, helping someone you didn't even know. You remind me of why I became a lawyer and it wasn't to become a member of the DA's office or work for some stuffy corporate law firm. I wanted to help the little guy, the people that the system refuses to help because it's not designed for them or some other reason." Laurel said.

"Like your friend Abby Sawyer. Sara told me about her. It's not right what happened to her." Sam said.

"No it's not and I haven't been able to go after Blossom the way I wanted to, since without a firm, I don't have the resources to take him down." Laurel said.

"And I'd like to help you with that." Sam said.

"So, is that a yes on a partnership?" Laurel asked.

"Yes. I'm in. Lance Gamble, since this was your idea, so your name can go first." Sam said and Laurel smiled.

"And our first paralegal will be Helena Wayne, since she's studying to be a lawyer at Star City University, since she and Thea both transferred here from Hudson after the scandal with Thea's mom and then after she passes the bar, she'll be a lawyer for us and eventually the firm will be named Lance Gamble Wayne. We're not making anyone else name partner until after Helena earns it." Laurel said.

"Agreed. And I do have my eye on a potential office location in the Glades." Sam said as they shook on it.

"Okay, now, before we officially set up our firm, I'd like to get as many administrative things taken care of first. But we can discuss that more as you show me the office location you have, so I'll know which building I'll need to have my fiance buy." Laurel said, since she couldn't deny that there were times that having a rich fiance came in handy.

"When are you going to tie the knot, since you already skipped a step and have a kid." Sam asked with a chuckle.

"We're working on it and we'll get there. But come on, let's go." Laurel said as they finished their drinks and headed out.

"So, what do you think?" Sam asked Laurel as she led her through an abandoned office building in the Glades. It was 2 stories tall with two floors in it and plenty of space. Laurel loved it immediately, her mind already creating possibilities about what to do with this space.

"So, what do you think?" Sam asked.

"I think Lance Gamble just found its home. But there is one other piece of business I'd like to address before we start making it official." Laurel said.

"And that would be?" Sam asked, even though she was pretty sure she knew.

"We can both be name partners of the firm, but only one of us can be the managing partner. I want to get that figured out before we go any further to prevent any arguments." Laurel said.

"This was your idea, Laurel. Your brainchild, your passion. You're the managing partner and I'll be your second in command and the one to cover for you when you have to leave to go save the world." Sam said.

"Are you sure. Because once we sign those papers, there's no taking it back." Laurel said.

"I'm positive. But I do have one condition before we make this official." Sam said.

"And that would be?" Laurel asked.

"We don't just provide services for humans and metahumans, but also aliens, since we both know that ever since Superman emerged on Earth and probably before that, lots of alien refugees have called our world home, but they don't have full rights, since the human supremacists of this world don't see aliens as people." Sam said.

"Agreed. Partner." Laurel said as she held out her hand to Sam, who shook it, confirming their new partnership.
